This is probably one of the better NCIX locations. They've got a lot on display; They're open longer hours than other locations.

I am a nerd and I like to go to electronics stores to browse. NCIX does carry a great selection for your nerdy side.

However, go to NCIX only when you know what you're doing. The techs in the store sound like they know what they're talking about... but, not really. If you want to get a stock laptop or a flash drive, I'm sure they can help you no problem. Any question more complicated than "Do I need a power supply higher than 600W to run this graphics card along with the BluRay drive and 4 HDD" they'll start to give you bullshit answers.

They use the same website to check stock at the store so you might as well do all the shopping online and pick it up in store.

The pick-up / return processes are hectic. Make sure you have a lot of time on your hands to deal with it. It might take you several trips to get what you really need. If you're worried about return hassles, buy from BestBuy or FutureShop (a big box store).

Last time I bought something, they sold me the wrong part (despite the fact that I told them that wasn't it). When I brought it back to return with the receipt, I was only given store credit because I didn't have the same card on me and was told to come back to transfer the store credit to the card next time. Seriously?! Who cares? It goes back on the SAME card. It doesn't matter if the card isn't mine!

You know my last review here was scathing and well, it probably was so bad that it's not on here anymore.

This last trip was with a buddy of mine looking for stuff for his Apple.  Though they didn't have anything we were looking for, they had some pretty good prices.  We even bumped into people we knew who were at the counter getting their computer needs.

The store left me a good enough impression that I had to write this.
Not raving, but ok.  And I"m sure the store staff would appreciate this much more than what I wrote when this place first opened.

I've bought more products from this store then computer store in the lower mainland.

NCIX, as you may know, has a price match policy where they will match the price of any canadian online/offline retailer.  This, combined with the fact that NCIX has a MASSIVE selection, means that you can get almost every computing product for the lowest possible price at NCIX.

While everything on display is bought normally, their online catalouge is unique.  Not everything is available in every store, so you may have to order it online ahead of time to ensure it's there when you want to pick it up.  You can look at it from home, or on one of their laptops in the store.  Once you pay for your product, you will get a number, and they will call you up to the counter once they got whatever you want from the storeroom.

The staff is highly knowlodgable and passionate about what they do.  I've never been upsold, I've never been subject to scare tactics that are so common at other stores.  I asked them questions regarding technology they they did not even sell (Intel processors that at the time, were yet to be released), and without hesitation they answered my question.  Yet they were also able to answer questions to those less knowlodgable about technology.  You can see the guys going repairs on computers and assembling, and I was also impressed with the diligenece they were using (going so far as to stress-test computers)

They don't fart roses entirely though.  While they may have a great catalouge, they have a rather small in-store displayed compared to other stores in the area (although still plenty to give you a nerdgasm).  Their return policy is strict, and there is a restocking fee if nothing is wrong with the product.  While I do take advantage of their price match policy a lot due to their large selection, it's not the best in the area, there are exceptions, and sometimes they don't completely match prices if somebody has a really good deal (has only happened twice).  You also are unlikely to receive help unless you come up to the counter and ask for it.

A great shop for any PC user, and a must-go for a diehard PC nerd.

I bought my Sony Vaio laptop from this location in November 2009.

I visited at least twice, and the first was a bust. I was ignored for the most part, and when I finally grabbed someone for a Q&A about a couple of the notebooks I wasn't too happy with how I was spoken to.

Finally I encountered a staff member who was helpful and friendly. I really wish I remembered his name! The point is, there ARE nice approachable people who work here, so if at first you don't succeed...

This particular guy directed me to a laptop that I'm still really happy with and answered all of my questions without being a condescending tech-douche.

NCIX has good prices and a wide selection but it may not be worth it for those who aren't sure of exactly what they want and who don't really "talk the talk".

Starting your search on their online website is best because the service seems to only happen if you approach them at their desk. Also, do your research because talking that compu-talk is sometime intimidating. Their prices are generally the lowest you can find if compared to Best Buy and Futureshop. Memory Express has a price match with an extra 5% off; however, NCIX has more choices in colour (I was looking for a new camera in purple). Also, NCIX ships it for free if there is no current stock.

Unfortunately, make sure you really want the item because if it is a special order (like my camera) it is not refundable, unless it's damaged. Their return policy is strict like that as well: No returns unless there's something wrong with it.

Another bad thing is that this store doesn't display a lot of their online products as well. But you can go to another store to check out/test the product first =)

Overall, I find this place has one of cheapest prices for products.

    1) Before you enter the store, go to the website to search for what you want.

    2) Once you know what you want, go to the store, purchase the item, and GTFO.

    3) This is the NCIX mentality: Know what you want, buy it, and GTFO. If you need help and don't know what you are doing, the place you have to go is "MEMORY EXPRESS".

    4) Don't bother coming in NCIX and expect to get "authentic" help. Either they don't know what they are talking about or they will try to sell you something you don't need and expensive (literally not helping at all because they don't know what they are doing). Customer service is horrible: don't want to serve you (except when you pay). I sincerely believe they don't know what they are doing, so they just avoid people like a plague. One thing they do know is where the usb's are located. SMH.

    5) Price is cheap when you do your homework, overall this place has better pricing than FS and BB. But if you really want great customer service (who have knowledge and will give you honest opinions) along with competitive prices like NCIX, "Memory Express" is the place of you.

Didn't have a great experience with them.

Product wise, I believe they do have one of the cheaper deals. But customer service wise, I would rank horribly. I go in, and people don't help you at all. Most of the time, I see them chatting with each other more than anything. I would rather order it online, and then go in and pick it up than actually going into the shop to look for it due to the service there.

I would recommend NCIX online shopping, but for sure not recommend it if you're looking for a service to help you out.

This is the new Richmond NCIX location that replaced the old one on Capstan Way in November 2009.

The parking can be a pain since it's in Aberdeen Centre but overall I find the location more convenient since it's always a good excuse to eat dim sum :)  It's also on the Canada Line for those coming in from Vancouver.

I'm a fan of NCIX and the prices are competitive.  We bought from them online before living in GVR but are happy to shop in person now!

Hubby just built a new computer and although the website prices were higher than some competitors, they gave us a better deal when buying multiple pieces at the same time.  We've never had issues buying here or at the original location and customer service is fine.

The downside is if you're undecided... they charge a 15% restocking fee.  But if you've done your research beforehand and you know what you want, this is a great place for computer parts.

Map location is approximate. Help us map it!
