You can find great deals in this store if you know what you're looking for.  If you're someone like me who isn't the most tech savvy, then you may have trouble finding help.  Some days I get the best service and other days I feel like my questions are too much of a bother for some of their sales staff.

NCIX averages a 3/5, but need to work on their customer service skills a bit more.  Not everyone is computer literate.

*Note - They have amazing Boxing Day sales.

In my experience, the customer service is terrible.  I put in an online order for a few items, after checking online and seeing that the Richmond Warehouse was the only place that had any in stock (10+ in stock).  I opted for an in-store pickup at the Burnaby store, which listed "1-2 days" as the expected shipping time.  I assumed that would be accurate, as Richmond isn't exactly that far from Burnaby and why would they post 1-2 days if that wasn't the case?

After 3 business days, I still hadn't received any e-mails indicating the status of my order, other than the initial "your order was received" e-mail I got immediately after I placed it online.  After contacting the Burnaby store directly, it was obvious they were busy because after being on hold for a short period a real "human" picked up and said "Thanks for calling NCIX please hold, click" before I could get in a word.  Afterwards I talked to the same person again and was told a salesperson would call me back to discuss my order.  I did get a call-back a couple hours later, and was told my order would be there "Tuesday" and "I should get an e-mail Monday night".

Tuesday came and went, and I had still received no e-mails or calls.  I tried the corporate "customer service" line for online orders once again, and after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I was transferred to a voice mail!  Obviously I was frustrated, why not just let me leave a message then and not make me wait on hold for 20min first?  I left yet another message explaining the situation and that "I just wanted to know that status of my order", and again never received a call-back.  Again I called the Burnaby store and left a voice-mail and I also didn't receive a call-back.

I can't comment on the in-store service, but I can say my experience with ordering something online and dealing with them over the phone has been negative.  For that reason alone I would choose to give my business to someone else in the future.

If they already have what you're looking for "in stock" at a convenient location, then your experience might be better.

Selection is good online.  In the store is another story.  Silly setup with grabbing a ticket before being seen.  Who do these guys think they are, the Motor Vehicle Branch or something?

Prices are fairly good, but cheaper deals are available in other stores with much better customer service.

This isn't really a store to go to if you want to browse.  Because you can't.  They have very limited stock on display, except for a few computers and netbooks, and some cables and minor accessories.  It's a bit frustrating that you have to grab a number to even talk to their staff and find out if they have something.  I went on a Saturday and it was fairly busy, but I actually only waited maybe 10-15 minutes.  They did have the hard drive I needed, which was a good, and it was a reasonable price, so in the end I was pleased.  But once I had paid I had to wait again for the product to be brought out from the back.  So that was another 10-15 min wait.

I guess maybe I am the type that likes to look at the product before I buy, so this system seems a bit odd to me, but I get that it saves them a ton of space.  The service people were pleasant and helpful and agreed to recycle my dead hard drive for me, which was nice.

Next time I need something from here I will check what I need online first.  It's a good shop, but know before you go, I guess is best.

This is always for my first when researching and pricing out computer components in Canada and I keep a keen eye on their weekly specials not only for myself, but for my friends. From the latest hard drives, mobos, lcd monitors, and video cards... NCIX has generally got it and at a price that is always amongst the best in Canada.

Located a couple blocks from Metrotown on Kingsway in Burnaby, it's easily accessible and there always seems to be metered parking within a block's radius. The store is nothing exciting with a few products showcased, but most of your options are back in the stockroom or warehouse.

I've never had to wait too long for service, but in the early evenings I find that it is most busiest and you do have to grab a ticket number to get service.

Customer service is as to be expected by this type of shop. Nothing especially good, however... Nothing especially bad, which is what matters most.

I recommend doing business with NCIX, however check out the website first and be familiar with what you are looking for before heading to the store. It will speed up the lineups and with all those tech-geeks in there, you never know who might be chuckling when you start talking about male-female connectors.

Moderately good prices, most of the time -- especially if you sign up for their Wednesday specials mailing list and only order on that day. However, the customer service in-store is absolutely horrible, especially at the main Burnaby store (they have stores elsewhere in the GVRD as well -- there's one on Broadway @ Granvillle that is smaller but has better service.)

If you order online, you're probably better served by sucking it up and paying the shipping cost to get your order delivered, unless it's a huge package. If you go into their store for a pickup, be prepared to wait for 30-60 minutes in the "web orders" lineup while one sales rep after another ignores you or makes you wait around while they talk to walk-in customers.

Also, there's only metered street parking out front, so plan ahead and bring lots of change unless you feel like walking a couple of blocks (which especially sucks if you're picking up something big and heavy or bulky.) If you're lucky, they'll let you borrow a dolly to get your order out into your car... assuming you haven't been towed in the meantime.

Used them for several years (reluctantly...) until I discovered a couple of other similar stores in the area that have immensely better service... not to mention better prices.

    Nick's review is so true.

I have shopped there a few times before. It is best to pick items from their "hot deals" page on the web site. Those prices are OK. However, be prepared for a long wait if you go to their retail store. After getting a number, you might need to wait for 20 minutes before it is your turn. After paying, you still need to wait a bit for them to bring the item and the change (if paid by cash) out.

Great deals can be had here if you know your pricing and know what you are looking for. I bought a Optimus 2x cellphone case and HDMI cable that works for it for $10 each damn good deal without shipping cost if you bought it online. The cell phone case cannot be found anywhere else in town when I looked.

Well, I'm someone who LOVES NCIX.  But you do have to understand one thing.....it's a store for "computer enthusiasts."  The sales people aren't really there to help you decide on what you want.  So most people I know go there already knowing EXACTLY the part they are looking for.  And for that, NCIX is perfect.  They have an amazing web site with all their prices as well as stock lookup so you can know their inventory before you arrive.  They have an ENORMOUS inventory and their prices are among the best.  On more than one occasion I've gone there to buy a hard drive, knowing exactly the price from their web site, only to find the price was even lower once I got to the checkout.  I've also gone through their return process a couple of times and it was fairly painless as well.

The one point they do really fall short on is their wait times.  I completely agree with Raymond and Nick here.  Go during "peak" times and you could easily wait 1/2 hour for your turn.  But I guess that speaks for their popularity too.

So if you go there expecting them to help you decide on the specs for your latest computer, you're going to be disappointed.  But if you're looking for the latest neon-glowing water-cooled Thermaltake CPU heat sink that was just release a couple of days ago, you're going to leave smiling.

This is one of those stores where you have to get a ticket and wait for your number to be called before you get any service. It's such as shame because they have so many staff members and I don't know why it's their way of doing things. If you're going to NCIX, you'll save some money when compared to the other computer stores in the Greater Vancouver area. I would go to NCIX early in the morning on weekdays because it gets busy after 3:00pm.

Note: wear a t-shirt and jeans when you enter the store and don't wear button down shirts with dressy pants because you might get hassled by other customers asking you if you work at the store.
