Convenient to skytrain, great selection, hassle free rentals!
We sold our car 5 years ago and decided to try to live car-free. When we need to rent, we rent from National. As Emerald Elite members, we get awesome rates, and great selection of vehicles. Unfortunately National has recently closed down most of its locations in the lower mainland, leaving only one pathetic rental outlet in Canada Place and the YVR location that are convenient to skytrain.
At the YVR location, we have always had fast, efficient, friendly service, never had any hassles with pickup or return, and have a consistently good experience. The only down side is that you pay a airport enforced surcharge for renting at the airport. We chose to pay that surcharge to get the great service from the YVR National staff. I'm still upset that National doesn't see fit to have a decent rental location in downtown Vancouver, but this is second best.
We tried several car rental companies including Discount, Budget and Avis before settling on National. The others were always far more frustrating to do business with. We've settled on National.
