Review from Matthew L.

Whenever my parents come to town, they love to take my wife and me out for a nice dinner. While we originally intended to try Ulla, we couldn't get a reservation at a reasonable hour. Instead, I found this place, which 98% of people who voted on Urbanspoon recommended (sadly, Urbanspoon can be better relied upon for restaurant recommendations here in Victoria).
And Nar did not disappoint. It's situated in an older character house with dining rooms on two stories, about a block from Willows Beach. Due to its location, the restaurant attracts an older clientele, but the food is full of the flavour I've come to expect from Turkish cuisine. My lamb shank was well seasoned and cooked with great texture, the highlight of my meal was actually a cashew (I think) stuffed mushroom which comes with all of the entrees.
And unlike Vegetarian plates at many of the fancier places downtown, the one served at Nar actually fills you up.
Desserts were also tasty - the baklava was crisp and not too sweet. And we also enjoyed the chocolate dessert which came with our sampler.
If you're looking for flavourful food in a refined setting, it's hard to do better than this. -

We always have a good meal here. The food is great, and the staff are lovely. The restaurant is not very big, so it doesn't hurt to gave a reservation if you're eating there in the evening.

Our favourite Oak Bay restaurant. Try a little bit of a lot of items, it is the best way to experience the true turkish flavours. The starters, mezze, are superb! Then a dish of chicken, kofte, and lamb. Then finish with a Turkish coffee. The owners are very accommodating.watch the day you go, the restaurant is not open every day.

What a find...a gem hidden in the Oak Bay area. Secluded in a corner across Windsor Park this place surprised me. The menu is from Turkey and the presentation is very contemporary. Interiors are warm and welcoming. At a summer afternoon you might be seated on the first floor watching a cricket game in the park and enjoying the fine cuisine.
You can enjoy the stylish appetizers with delicious hot and cold mazze, for the main course there are delicious boreks, kebabs and lamb skewers. They also put together a vegetarian plate on request.
The apricot desert and Turkish coffee are a perfect end to a sumptuous meal.
