    Nancy is amazing.

She is an absolute pro when it comes to cheese.

Some of my very favourite cheeses are carried in her shop, and I cannot get over the Zamarano.

The vast array of gourmet items are a lovely addition, not to mention the sleek looking cheese boards.

Quality, atmosphere, expertise and all around goodness makes Nancy's one of the BEST cheese shops in the city!

Nancy is really nice, and I really want to like her store. Unfortunately, Nancy's Cheese is not great. Her cheese selection just isn't particularly good. She's friendly and helpful, and she lets you try everything, but at the end of the day the cheese simply isn't good enough. You're better off going East to All the Best, or South to Chabichou; even Whole Foods has better cheese. Too bad.

To be fair to Nancy, the real problem here is a public policy one. Canada's over-regulation of the dairy industry drives up prices, pumps money into big, industrial agribusinesses, and makes it preposterously difficult to import foreign dairy products. No wonder it's so difficult to get good cheese here. But that's an issue for another day.

Was walking by the place, and thought I would step in.

A sign of a good cheese place is the inundating smell as you step in. Phew!

Lots of selection, but not too huge that you were overwhelmed. Each was clearly labelled for which find of milk (Goat, Sheep, Cow...)

She let me try some before buying, which is good and helped me figure out cost and amount of cheese I wanted to buy.
She was really helpful and understanding that I didn't want to spend $15 on a slice of cheese, but liking two types, half and half was good. The goat cheese slice was $3. While half the slice of the sheeps milk was $7.

    Yum.....
They also sell preserves, crisps and other go with cheese goodness.

Great neighbourhood place, and I will come back!

My main destination on Dupont, and so conveniently close to an LCBO to pair my cheese with good company.

After wondering for long time around town checking on all cheese shops, I selected this place as my weekly stop. Cheeses are nurtured, and clients as well. The small, but carefully selected cheese's spectrum is actually a charm. The display case covers all I need to satisfy my truly demanding palate.

The flavour, aroma, texture and freshness of every single cheese are exceptionally preserved, and that is how it should be. Cheese requires  respect, Nancy's and her staff provides that. The right place for people who like the real stuff, without the superfluous. This place leads the way, all the others are just following.

Every single cheese lover I know just prefers to shop here, and I understand why. I know what I like, and In my straightforward opinion I find Nancy's Cheese the best shop in Toronto, by far.

Loved this!  I ended up spending more than anticipated, but left with a planer from Norway - so cute, and a great way to eat cheese.  Also took home some beamsville goat gouda yum (loved that portions had prices clearly marked), they also had a great selection of smoked salmon which was delicious (not too salty, and super fresh).  I also left with some fabulous polenta crisps - yummy!
