WHAT a delight:)!! We found Namaste India this evening here on Yelp while in Ottawa for the day and it was aaaaamazing:)!! It's the "little family-run joint" that you KNOW has great food... and they sure did!!! It was amazing from apps to entrees! I highly recommend and we will be going back without a doubt.
We also had our two small children with us and they were very accommodating. Very clean place, quiet, friendly and complimentary fresh fruit served at the end of the meal! What more could we ask for:)??
We had Lamb Massala with Naan and rice. It was exceptional and the kids loved the chicken version usually known as Chicken Tikka Masala, but "Butter Chicken" here. We loved our favorite Indian drink here too called Lassi. It's made with mangoes and yogurt and probably a few other things. To die for;)!! -

I really enjoyed the food here, although my friend, who is Indian herself, thought everything was just "okay". What really brought the experience down for us was how slow the service was. We were the only diners in the restaurant @8PM, but could find no one when we wanted to pay our bill. I would definitely try this place again, perhaps at a more reasonable dinner hour to see if service improved and whether other dishes were worthwhile. (We had daal, butter chicken, and naan.)
For what it's worth, my friend said she'd never go out of her way to try this place again and that it didn't satisfy her Indian food craving. -

After an initially great start they have dropped their standards somewhat - still happy they are in the 'hood though.

Located where the now-defunct "Sacred Garden" used to be.
I've had pretty hit/miss experiences with Indian food in Ottawa, but this place was super tasty.
We had the Begun Bharta Puri as an appetizer-- eggplant mash with spices and herbs, served with this (what seemed to be) lightly deep-fried, delicious bread. Yum! Not spicy. Note: can't comment on how hot their "hot" dishes are, as I like to stick to the mild stuff. Garlic Naan = delicious.
We shared the Matar Paneer and Tarka Dahl for the main meal. The peas in the paneer tasted super fresh, unlike some of the pure mush you can get elsewhere. Also, the paneer was in larger cubes, which I like, and they didn't skimp with it either. The dahl was lovely, really interesting spices.
Service was pretty classy, everything is rolled out on a cart, and they give you a little warming station to put your food on. Water refills abundant. Food was not the fastest, but very worth it.
So happy this place is in my neighbourhood!

A quick review... Being a Chef, I really enjoy food when it shows the hand of the creator. This is very good Indian food, but with a twist... You might say that it is updated to include ingredients from around the world. South East Asian veggies. I amabout to go to Orlando, so I just wanted to get the word out.
