Review from Annie L.
Toronto, ON
Markham/Richmond Hill businesses are not as proliferate on the internet as Toronto businesses, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling.
Hashtag best Japanese style manicure in the GTA. Unlike the abundance of nail salons that spawned like weeds, this salon has a focus on Asian trends-inspired art nails. They'll do the basic and french manicures/pedicures, but the set-up is geared towards decking out your nails with sculpture roses and pearls, princess style, or with rhinestones, like a set of platinum grills. Their understated business model is geared towards quality, so all I saw was OPI, CND or Bio-Gel on the shelves, with no acrylic/UV gel pricing substitute.
My manicurist Rita did a meticulously perfect job. She did test palettes on my nails so I can see what I am actually getting before I agree to a full set. Instead of slapping on UV gels thickly to quickly create volume, my nails were glazed over 6 times, with different colors of veil-like sparkles tucked in between. She was such a perfectionist, even a misplaced sparkle won't escape her tweezers (is there such thing as "misplaced sparkles"?)
Results were amazingly natural feeling nails, but less weak and crummy!
Her styling though, is not as extreme as what I've seen from Hong Kong (architectural cut-out's on the nail extensions!) or Japanese magazines (Lilo & Stitch sculptures on EVERY NAIL?), but hey, every working girl's eventually gotta do dishes. -
Review from Sofie D.
I absolutely adore this place. I specifically wanted to go to this place because they offer shellac polishes. I am from the US and there's no places I can get regular gel nails removed. So i opted for shellac, as I could remove them myself at home. In the US, they were not able to do designs and glitter gradient for shellac, which is why I wanted to check out this place. As i saw they were able to do designs on shellac polishes.
pros:
they are very accommodating. They were able to do what I requested and gave me really good recommendations. The girl that helped me was very attentive and very detailed. Every glitter was placed perfectly and the polish was nicely painted on, there's no naked spot on the edge of the nail. Unlike other places that usually rush through the painting. She went over my nails a few times to make sure everything was perfect. Even when she shaped my nails, we viewed it from different angles to make sure all fingers are perfect.
cons:
I'm pretty anal about hygiene. In the US, all tools, like nail clipper, emery board, nail filer, cuticule clipper etc are soaked in alcohol after each use. Or placed in a UV sterilizer machine and then place in special package and only opened when used. However at nail parade, I see that they only wipe it down with alcohol and cotton, then placed back in the basket for use on another customer. Also, I showed my nails to a couple friends in toronto that usually have their nails done and they said for the price was a bit steep for what i had done. -

I agree with everything that Annie L said!! She is amazing at her craft and I can't wait to go back, this time for a pedi. It's been 2 weeks and my gel nails have no lift and still look natural. Just got another compliment on them today :)
