Review from Heather B.
On my last night in Whistler, I hit up Nagomi because I wanted West Coast sushi. I was staying at a nearby hotel, wandered in, requested a table for one, and parked at a small table with my book. My waiter took my order and I waited and waited for my 4 rolls. They arrived and I inhaled them. The sushi was excellent in taste (5 stars) but they could have been wrapped better (-1 star). The rolls kept falling apart in my vat of soy sauce, perhaps the sushi chef should hone their skills.
I waited and waited for my waiter to come back to the table, he asked the tables around me if they wanted more food but not me. When I requested a menu, I got the impression that he thought I was slightly insane. Perhaps because I was eating alone? Or was it because I wanted to order more food? To be honest, it's not like I normally put down more than 4 rolls but the rolls ranged in size, the vegetarian rolls were super small and the others were different sizes. I requested 3 additional rolls and he commented that I had a remarkable ability to eat. I can't say that I've ever had a waiter say that to me (-1 star). I'm a size 6 and rather fit person, yes, if I'm hungry, I can eat but it's none of your business. My additional 3 rolls came, they were consumed, and I was content. and then I waited and waited. He came back to the table and asked me if I was going for round 3, slightly peeved I asked for the check. He brought the check and then I waited and waited (-1 star). If it wasn't for the fact that the sushi was super cheap (+2 stars), I would not put this high on a recommendation list. The vegetarian rolls were $3-4 CAN and the sushi rolls ranged from $8-14 CAN, super cheap compared to Boston. I'm always a 20% tipper but this dude got a little less. My food bill minus tip (and no alcohol) came to $50 CAN - for 7 rolls!!! -

Disappointing! Not very fresh at all, which is a big downer for me with sushi, and a bit overpriced, even for Whistler. Now, this was at low season but the old sushi really put me off considering them on future Whistler trips.

If price is no option, Nagomi is the way to go. Luckily, we went during their all-you-can-eat for $30 dead season special, before they closed for 6 weeks.
We managed to eat over $200 worth of food just between the two of us, and let me say that it hurt soooo good.
Here is a list of items we ordered, and how we felt about it --
trio of mushrooms and scallops - SO good. scallops were a bit overcooked but the mushrooms were fantastic.
beef tataki - really tender, not chewy as some can be, but the sauce isn't as good as the ruby dressing at sushi village.
takoyaki balls - on point.
appetizer tempura - nicely done, gummier batter than usual.
softshell crab - really tender and perfectly cooked.
rainbow roll & beautiful roll - the fresh fish wasn't as generous as possible for the price, but the quality was excellent.
assorted sashimi - super fresh and good quality cuts.
green tea and mango ice cream - fantastic! (we wanted more, even though we were painfully stuffed.)
i don't think i could afford nagomi at regular price, but holy batman... if it weren't for last call, i probably wouldve tried to eat more, and wouldve demanded a wheelchair to roll me to my truck.. -

Sushi was decent but service was a bit lacking and 'forgetful'

Holy spicy agedashi tofu batman. Seriously. I don't know what the crap is going on with the sauce, but I want to marry it.
Chose this place as it was rumoured to be better than Sachi Sushi. I don't know if it's better, but it's definitely on par. They have Sake Margs and cute Sake "trees" for those who want to get their Sake on.
The veggie rolls my pal and I shared were delicious. And the meat eaters in our party raved about their choices. There was not a sad face at the table.
It was bonkers busy so our server was all over the place, but still managed to bang out some quality service. It's a little pricey for my tastes, but pretty reasonable when it comes to Whistler.......

After unsuccessfully trying to get reservations at other local restaurants on a busy weekend for our group of 11, we managed to snag one here. I'm so glad we did! While we weren't seated until 15 min. after our reservation time, the workers were very courteous about the delay. We got edamame on the house, and our server was quick to bring us hot tea.
I started with some spicy age tofu (note: without the dashi), which was tossed with a concoction that tasted much like korean kochi-jang sauce, which was just okay. Then I got the box sushi (if you're curious, it's like rectangular-shaped nigiri) and salmon and negitoro rolls- all delicious and featuring fresh fish. My friends who ordered the sukiyaki seemed very happy.. and it indeed looked VERY enticing with the cold weather outside.
I wasn't too sure of what to expect from sushi in Whistler. I'd say the prices were comparable to sushi places here in Hawaii. At first glance, it seemed MUCH cheaper, but each sushi roll actually only had 4-6 pieces. Us fatty Americans are used to seeing 8-piece rolls on average.
I'll refrain from giving 5-stars since I had no other sushi in the area to compare it to, but with such great service and food (this coming from someone from an area that's known for top-notch seafood), I'd say Nagomi is pretty damn solid. -

If I had one qualm it would be.. once again overpriced in Whistler, but hey!
The clam miso soup was fabulous! It tasted and was fresh. The rolls were really good & well made as well as the gyoza's. They were huge!
I'm a fan. -

My co-worker told me about this place because he says he is friends with one of the owners and the chefs and they serve good sushi - could be biased, but after cheking out the other menus in the Whistler Village ie. Sushi Village, the prices seemed comparable.
It was sunday night in Whilster and close to 9pm... we walked into a 1/4 restaurant perhaps...not too busy.
We ordered some assorted sushi, salmon sashimi, dragon roll, chicken skewers and wings (for my 13 -year old brother who doesn't eat too much raw fish), plain noodles and tempura.
Everything was fresh, and delicious. The Red dragon roll, which was one of the specials, seemed a little on the small side. The sashimi was sushilicious.........
BUT (yes there's a but).. the service I thought was sub-par. Our waiter seemed to be dilly-dallying... never came to check on us, or fill our glasses.. he really didn't seem to be enjoying his job. Meanwhile, I see the other two servers who were working that night and they were super friendly and offering lots of freebies to their customers so his overall attitude dampened my spirits. Maybe he was having an off night... the food is still definitely worth trying! -

What were we going to do now that Sushi Ya is closed? Well, Nagomi is here to the rescue. Located in the upper village; Nagomi does take out and (extremely expensive) deliveries as well as being a real restaurant itself.
The sushi we ordered were fresh and delicious and the soft shell crab was yummy too.
My only quarm was that the veggie portions were diddly poop tiny and the chicken yakitori was inedible- perhaps due to being in north america it was made with breast meat not dark meat making it very tough.
Glad I found a new Japanese restaurant in Whistler! -
Review from Alexander L.
Definetly qualifies as one of the best restaurants in Whistler, and ridiculously conveniently located to boot! I try to come here as often as I can whenever I'm in Whistler, and for me, their uni is hard to top!
The seafood is just wonderfully fresh, and I really dig how they use 'sushi'-rice for their sashimi dinners. My only qualm here is that after the first few bites, the sushi-rice might be a tad overkill on the tastebuds.
As for the restaurant itself, the last few times the waiters really made us feel at home, and the decor, while nothing to write home about, is chill and intimate. Not too bad for one of the only Japanese restaurants in Whistler! -

Outstanding! Simply outstanding food! Spicy agedashi tofu = delicious. "Black Diamond" sushi combination = outstanding. You know it's way, way above average when it includes uni and amaebi in the mix and certainly no duplicated fish in the combo (don't you just hate when you get nigiri repeats?!). Tempura soy roll which has scallop, salmon, tempura shrimp and avocado = un-frak-ing be-liev-a-ble! It was so delicious I closed my eyes to savour it after placing each piece in my mouth -- not many foods elicit that response. You'll drop some dough at this place but you won't be disappointed by the quality of the sushi.

This is my favourite sushi restaurant in town. The service is always great, and the staff are really friendly. I love the mago roll and the gyoza is really good too. Basically, I enjoy everything on the menu!
Take out is great as well, and I always recommend making a reservation, especially during the winter. -
