YUM
Kam-sa-ham-nida Marc D!!!
Thank you for your FTR and omnom-ilicious photos of this great little dumpling shop.
The four of us shared a few dishes and it was all very delicious and extremely reasonably priced. Make, dukkbokki, kimchi dumplings and large dumpling - hand made in the shop. Also had some rice cake ramen - quite spicy but apparently that's the only way the Koreans serve ramen. Daughter broke a sweat and that made her very happy indeed.
A delightful little place to grab a snack or a quick meal, before or after visiting H-Mart for all your Korean grocery needs.
We'll be back!Listed in: Korean

Really decent mandu. Ordered ddukmanduguk with no egg; it arrived with eggs in it. Waitress said it couldn't be helped, as the eggs were already in the pre-made broth. There was nothing stopping her from telling me that when I placed the order. Could have rated this place a bit higher had the waitress got the order correct. Otherwise it's not a bad joint. Apparently this is a franchise from Korea, and this is their first location in Canuckistan.
I'll be back for the mandu. -

* Korean snack food *
This little unassuming spot located in a Korean strip mall offers quick and tasty Korean snack food.
This is a very little spot, with half of the space being taken by an open kitchen with a man handmaking various types of dumplings. Next to him are some big food steamers with typical snacks like dukbokki kept on a steady heat.
There is a very simple menu posted on all of the walls by each of the little tables. But it seems like a lot of their business is on the take-out front as during my short time there I saw at least 15 take-out orders being sold.
Their house specialty is the handmade dumplings - every table had them. So I also ordered the jjinmandu. The generous portion of 10 dumplings ($4.95) arrived on the type of metal steamer with mesh matting like you normally see in Korea (photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...). I like this type of presentation as the dumplings do not stick at all and can easily be lifted. They also don't end up with a moisture pool under them like if they were put on a regular plate. The Chinese dim sum and XLB houses around town should look into buying some of these mesh steamers - they make things so much easier! The dumplings themselves had a very nicely rolled thin skin, and had a generous amount of the pork and veggie filling with a strong garlic flavour. Very nice dumplings! The dukbokki ($3.50) was a fairly standard version with a mid-level heat sauce, and a few fishcakes mixed in. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
They served a side plate of danmuji, which were the standard commercial type.
Service was noticeably friendly compared to many of the other Korean places in the neighbourhood. The kind woman serving seemed happy to explain all of the food to help guide choices (in a non-pushy way). The food also came extremely quickly, as they have a high turnover with all the take-out business - so it was nice, hot and fresh. (You can notice the steam in each of the photos coming off the food.)
Overall the dumplings were definitely the highlight here, and I will be back to try some of their other dumpling offerings.Listed in: Vancouver Dumplings, Vancouver Korean Food
