Who doesn't love a bakery...They're warm and inviting and they smell like mom's kitchen. No other place gives me better feel good vibes than a beautiful bakery. The newest addition to my Mount Pleasant neighborhood is My Goodness! Gluten & Wheat free Kitchen.

When I walked into the bakery with it's bright orange walls and cheery atmosphere, I am greeted by it's owner Arlene. Her display case is filled with coffee cakes, cookies, biscotti and chocolate cupcakes with bright blue icing. I am immediately drawn to the beautiful cake rack by the till. On the top is fresh fragrant cornbread beaming with color. But what lie's beneath is too irresistible to pass up...fresh carrot cake with a thick layer of white icing. I order a slice and decide to adopt the single lonely chocolate cupcake.

Now although I do not have any dietary restrictions, I love to give them a try to see if I can tell the difference. Have you ever been offered a gluten free goodie and it was flavorless and most definitely lacking something. That is not the case at My Goodness! The carrot cake is moist and has the perfect texture. An excellent blend of the spice in the cake and the sweetness of the icing. But most of all it is so so moist. The chocolate cupcake has great flavor and rivals the best cupcake stores in town. The most impressive thing about both of these goodies is the fact that I honestly couldn't tell they were gluten free. They were wonderful and I can't wait to try my next goodies from My Goodness!

I came!  I saw!  I cookied!  This is the sugar speaking.  I tried 3 different cookies and a muffin to-go.  haha  I just got items that were dairy free.  I had hoped there would be a bun that was dairy free - but only the sweets were.

The cocoa nib cookie had an interesting flavour - I liked the taste of it.  I wouldn't really qualify it as a cookie though.  It was too flat and non-cookie like.  haha  I don't know what else you could call it.
The peanut butter one was kind of dry and tasted mostly like sugar.  Like sugar with a hint of peanut butter.  The gingersnap was really dry and tasted pretty much just like sugar and nothing else.  I would really suggest using less sugar.  haha  Same with the pumpkin muffin.  I find too much plain sugar just overpowers a baked good and you can't taste any of the flavours anymore.  It would be great if they used alternative sweeteners (coconut sugar anyone?!) but I guess those are more pricey to use.  Although I would totally pay more for it.

The service was fairly friendly.  The prices were awesome!  I'd be interested in trying their vegan pizza crust but I'll stay away from the sweets next time.

I drive by this place so many times I've lost count. Every time I pass by either they are closed or the window is all fogged up as if they are cooking up something secretive and delicious.

I finally did myself a favor and checked out this place with my partner. The cafe is small but quaint. There is a big chance you find mother and daughter working away in the functional kitchen right behind the counter. The aroma of freshly baked goods is warm and welcoming. I can see myself waking up to the smell of this every morning.

I got myself a spinach cheese bread (sized like a scone) and a corn bread. The former was really really good. I couldn't taste much of the spinach but the combination of feta cheese and dill, oh yeah, it totally works. The corn bread was good but it had some sort of spice which I am not too fond of. Other than that the flavor was great and texture was (good) grainy (because of the real corn niblets). And guess what? It's not dry! I was expecting the same type of batter/texture in all their products but I was wrong. I am glad I was wrong because I love how each product has its own unique texture and taste.

The bill of the 2 savory delights came to $4.48 after tax.

I can't wait to come back and try their breads, cakes, scones etc.

Hands down the best Gluten-Free bakery in town. Run by a super-sweet mother/daughter duo, Mygoodness! has allowed me to enjoy many of the tasty baked goods I'd long forsaken. Unlike other venue's attempts at making GF alternatives, Arlene's baked goods actually taste as good or better than their gluten-full counterparts!

I often serve her food to unaware guests. Not only do they have no idea they are eating gluten-free, but they always ask where I got the delicious bread and treats.

Things to definitely try: Spinach-Feta buns (leave some for me!), banana bread, CARROT CAKE (best ever), perogies (uh-huh!), and even baguette (available on Saturdays). They also have great pizza by the slice at lunch time. Oh, the coffee cake and the pumpkin spice muffins are also great...

On our drive out to enjoy the city together on a Saturday morning, we drove by this little delightful store. In no time my partner saw it, and was saying how she read about this place, and I'm always in to try new things, so might as well turn, and find parking and see what this place is about! We went in and quickly we were greeted by the woman there. A very friendly place, and it's one of those 'trendy' places lately where it's an open kitchen concept, and the ladies working here, are putting their magic into the stuff they produce, and you get to see it for yourself!

The big thing about this place is the whole thing about "Gluten Free", and all their stuff is. We came out with two items, described well by the woman there, and for our adventurous mouths, we had one that was green (I think it was spinich and cheese), the other was a corn bread variety. The texture is very different compared to regular breads, but what was amazing was that the pieces we ended up buying, by looking at them, looked very solid (rock hard maybe a better way to put it), and when we pinched it, and squeezed it with our teeth, it was spongy soft. The first we tried was the green one, and amazingly it was soft, a slight chew to it, but it had a good taste eminating from it. The cheese bits in this thing just hit the taste buds. The corn bread was next on the list, and I took one bite, and had some soft corn bits in there, I was impressed, and thinking when will be the next time we pick up a treat here.

Your going to have to park around the block, as there is no parking in front, but worth your while to go. It's practically next door to 'Our Town' coffee, just another great addition to the block, and area!

I'm surprised that I am giving five stars to a gluten free bakery. I don't need to eat gluten free, I only started going here because my girlfriend is trying to cut down on gluten.

The bakery is run by an very nice mother and daughter. I've already been a few times and have tried at least a dozen of their baked goods. The standouts include the iced carrot cake, pumkin muffins, lemon loaf and berry scones. Everything I tried was good, these are just the standouts. Prices are of course higher than a regular bakery, but not unreasonable, especially considering the quality is like home baking. Although it has apparently only been in business for a few months it is already busy, which should help keep things fresh.

They don't have much of a selection of bread, which is a pity because everything tastes so good. Hopefully they will add more bread in the future.

I've tried a couple of the other popular gluten free bakeries in Vancouver. Both weren't as good, and they were more expensive.

She now does gluten-free pizza for lunch!!  It's really amazing, and I even had a non-GF friend try it, and he agreed it was delicious.

i wish I could eat the quejos from here all day. I had them for lunch yesterday. And the herb and garlic flatbread made a delicious snack. I've stopped eating a lot of baked goods and breads since getting diagnosed with my gluten intolerance, but Mygoodness! Gluten & Wheat Free Kitchen makes me want to eat ALL the baked things.

My only complaint was that I didn't really like the almond cocoa nib cookie. But the peanut butter and ginger molasses cookies looked to die for... Must come back and try them next time.

Gluten free baguette..... need I say more? Go on Saturday to grab a baguette and definitely don't forget to leave with a Quejos, they are a buttery, cheesy treat. Such a great shop run by a very nice lady!

Arlene is charming and so is her kitchen.  The cacao nib cookies made with almond flour are sensational, and I have learned to call ahead and "reserve" as by the time I get to her shop at 515pm - they are always sold out!

Her quejos are the best I have had.  There is not a huge variety of goods, but as she gets more baking assistance I think we will see more fabulous yummy things on her shelves.

    Highly recommend a visit!

I owe my dear friend Jane for this one. She is always on the lookout for yummy things for me to eat. She spotted newly sprouted "mygoodness" right on the day it opened, this past Monday.

New to the Main / Broadway village, this specialty bakery has a very enthusiastic mom, Arlene, baking up wholesome goodies with Almond flour every day for us anti-gluten peep's. I came too late to score a loaf of her bread, but I got to try a delicious almond Biscotti. I'm so excited there's a gluten free bakery in East Van!!

I can't wait to try the bread. It's best to call in advance says Arlene, to make sure she has the inventory. Everything is fresh every day.
    BRILLIANT!

Celiacs rejoice! Mygoodness! is a lovely new addition to Vancouver's gluten-free scene.

Arlene, the owner, seems to follow the "do just a few things very, very well" mentality. There's a couple dozen selections of gluten-free baked goods available, from moist chocolate cupcakes to a variety of cookies to more savory offerings, like italian flatbread and quejos (Brazilian cheese buns). She also has an "oats" section, with a variety of products made from gluten-free oats.

While I was there today (Monday, May 30, 2011 - opening day for her store) she said she'd soon be offering baked bread as well. I'm hoping she'll also add a table or two, though the space is rather small.

One thing to watch for if you've got a variety of food sensitivities is that Arlene doesn't focus on creating dairy free, egg free, or vegan products. So if you're a "traditional" celiac looking for great gluten free stuff, this is your place. If you've got a couple other food sensitivities or allerges beyond gluten, you'll want to check the ingredients lists carefully.

I must have been told by five or six people about this little bakery before I finally remembered to pop in while running errands.

The bakery is small, only a few items in the display and a few on the shelf.  The owner was very friendly and said that she'd only been open three weeks. I told her about how many people had told me to stop in and check it out and she was really excited to hear that word of mouth was spreading so far.

I got a lemon loaf, which when I got home and had a slice was a lovely moist, flavourful fresh loaf which I will for sure buy again.

Her prices were really decent and everything looked really fresh and tasty.

Unfortunately, they don't carry vegan or dairy free gluten-free goods which makes it a little challenging if you have more allergies.

I would say so far this is my favourite gluten free place in Vancouver and hopefully as things get better for them they will expand to have some vegan items and breads.

I stopped by right after they had closed, but they insisted on letting us in anyway and were warm and friendly and super willing to chat about gluten-free baking.
I haven't tasted any of their treats, but the baking supplies that I bought there were lovely, thought slightly expensive.
One perk - they sell small portions of xanthan gum for $2.50 so you don't have to buy one of those huge, expensive bags at whole foods! Score.
    Will definitely go back.

My SO and I have been gluten-free for only 4 days so to ease the withdrawal pain a little we went on the hunt for tasty treats. The pumpkin cream cheese muffins are out of this world. Seriously. I'm sad we only got one! Everything we got was delicious and we will certainly make the trek from North Burnaby to the Mygoodness! bakery again. It's more than worth it!

Oh Mygoodness: just had the pumpkin scone and it hit the spot! I've been craving one of those for 6 years as it used to be my fave treat from Starbucks. I'm just about to dig in to the garlic flatbread that I'm using as a hamburger bun. I have yet to try the banana bread and pumpkin cheesecake I bought but they look very tempting. Also, very affordable priced for gluten-free!

A new dedicated gluten free bakery is in our midst!! I am so excited!! The owner and baker, Arlene, is interested in using healthier flours in her baking, without sacrificing taste. Since her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease, she has come up with some wonderful products to share with Vancouver. She has both savouries like Italian flatbread and quejos, as well as sweets like carrot cake and chocolate chip cookies. Today I tried the Almond Flax sandwich bread and the Hazelnut Apricot biscotti. The bread was very tasty, and held its shape well. My son and I devoured it. Its a great option for both sandwiches and toast. As for the biscotti, in the past I have not been a fan, as I felt it was not big on taste, and was extremely difficult on the veneers:) This biscotti changes everything. Not only was it chock-a-block full of taste, it was unusually large, soft, and chewy. One of my new favourites. Check her out on West Broadway and Main.
