After hearing how amazing their burger is here I had to try it for myself. It surely did not disappoint.
A double deck burger that isn't obnoxiously large yet perfectly filling! A simple burger made super well with lots of cheesy goodness. It came with a side of Fries which was also pretty delicious.
The interior is cozy and nice.
10/10 would be back for another burger!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christopher C.Toronto, ON272Jun 1, 2022
It's out of business. Closed, no answer, and no website. Apparently they had a fire in June 2020, so no soup for me!

Museum Tavern was a perfect pit stop for lunch. I had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken made with 24 hr. brine, spicy jalepeno slaw, pickle, and adobo mayo. I had the side of fries. Overall I enjoyed the great service and the pace of the restaurant. It advertises that it has one of the best views of the city... but I don't agree with that. The location is near UofT and Yorkville so it's a good spot for unwinding after work or class. I would come here again. The drink I had was amazing.

The fried chicken sandwich was decent, but I guess I was expecting something more southern like I'm used to. Like Chick-fil-a, or something more juicy.
It was salted well, but it was lacking any additional flavor. And it was a little dry. It was just ok. And the rosemary on the bun didn't really add a good taste to it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2018
I love the design and ambiance in this popular midtown tavern but, for me, the food we tried was nothing crazy exceptional. But that's just my humble opinion. A friend told me this was one of his favourite cheeseburgers in the city, and another friend said she loves the fries. So, natch, off I went for cheeseburgers and fries, while the husband ordered a wedge salad (blue cheese, bacon, avocado, buttermilk dressing, etc). While we both enjoyed the meal for sure, we weren't overly impressed, although granted, the fries are awesome. Service was also lovely.
Anyhoo...my quest for the city's greatest cheeseburgers continues...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joseph S.Toronto, ON8794455Jul 30, 2018
Let's be very clear, the Prime Beef Double Cheeseburger is the best burger in Toronto. Period. Full stop. This review is only about the burger, because that's all that needs ti be talked about.
If you took a Big Mac and gave it intense beefy flavour, that goes perfectly with the cheese and toppings used in this burger, that's what you get. It literally melts in your mouth, and each bite has you wanting more. And more. And more.
What makes the burger taste so good is that you already walk in with insanely high expectations of what it could taste like, then they get surpassed. It's fairly hard to put it into words, so you need to try it out for yourself.
The fries are also spectacular. This burger and fries combo could realistically be the only thing on their menu, and the restaurant would still be perfectly fine.
Go try this burger.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Shivanie M.Toronto, ON1085169Jul 26, 2019
I ended up here on a late Sunday night. Famished and hangry, I didn't know what I was in the mood to eat. The restaurant was empty. It was clean and we were welcomed by the waiter.
I ordered a cocktail and the most yummy salad I've ever eaten. Seriously, you need to check out this place for this salad. Its a caesar salad...yes, seriously.
Leafy greens, tomatoes, chucky and flavourful pieces of chicken, avocados, and a replacement of cashews instead of bacon. All dressed perfectly in their signature salad dressing. I could eat this salad for the rest of my life. I constantly think of it. It was also so large, I had to do a doggie baggie.
Overall, a MUST try and one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 12, 2018
A crowded place on a Saturday night did not particularly inspire me to expect great service, but I was quite wrong and we almost felt doted over for a couple of hours over a great dinner. The menu is quite interesting and full of options, and as intriguing as the burger sounded, I went with duck and was not disappointed. The cocktail menu also was a hit, we wound up having several drinks before leaving into the evening cold.
I feel sort of obligated to go back for the burger now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Angela G.Toronto, ON270264669Feb 20, 2018
Museum Tavern was on my list for about a year especially after I heard it was the number one burger according to the man who ate a burger everyday for a year.
I walked in with a friend this past Sunday and immediately fell in love with the place, it kinda reminded me of a cute New York bar. There was a nice vibe and although it was busy it wasn't very loud.
I knew exactly what I was getting and ordered the Prime Beef Double Cheeseburger with fries. WOW. The waiter brought over a large plate with crispy fries, a tin can with more fries and a decent size burger. I really liked their fries, had a great crisp to it and wasn't too salty.
Moving on to the star of the show; The Burger. The bun was super soft without being very greasy. I took one bite and was in love. The meat melted in my mouth, the cheese was just the perfect amount, and the thinly sliced onions and pickles added a great crunch.
I have to say I was very very surprised, I will definitely be back again! Can't wait to devour another juicy burger!
P.S. I ordered the Chocolate Cake for dessert. Nothing special! It was very hard, not moist and too sweet.
Keep Eating,

I didn't want to come here because the word Tavern scares me when you have children. I didn't want to have that feel of going to a bar with your kids. However, once we were inside, we saw other families there with their own kids and high chairs, it calmed my nerves.
We were seated in a booth and they had a booster seat for my daughter. It was a nice way to make me feel included since most restaurants that have the name Tavern, isn't exactly kid friendly.
To start, we got the beef short ribs poutine and where else can you get good poutine besides Canada? Come on, so of course we had to get it. It was one of the best poutines I've had and I've been to Canada many times. My husband got a cocktail to wash it down with.
For out entrees, my girls shared the bacon truffle perogies, perfection of clouds with delicious bacon. I couldn't stop eating their plate, it was that good. I got the shrimp po' boy and oh my! It was one of the best shrimp po' boy I've ever had. Perfect combination of tangy, sour from the pickles, savory and zesty all in one bite. The shrimps they put in the sandwich was also very generous. My husband got the peameal bacon burger which if you know that in Canada, you need to try peameal bacon. It's like a slice of ham.
For dessert, they have chocolate mousse and lemon cheesecake. We wanted to have dessert and was going to order one but my daughter said "mommy, I'm tired, let's just go home" so that's what we did. She must be very tired to skip dessert so I took that seriously.
The tab came to about 78 CAD before a 15% tip. I wasn't used to tipping so little, but in Toronto, 15% is the standard. Though I will say that the service wasn't all that great, but it's understandable since it was a busy place.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0
