I'm probably like the millionth person who first came here because of Groupon/Social Shopper/whatever coupon. I got a deal from The Red Pocket for $29 for haircut, scalp/neck massage and deep conditioning. Now, when it comes to really good deals like this, the first thing I always do is check reviews on it. I've seen enough deals that looked good, but are in reality are horrible. All the reviews I've read have been mostly consistently good, so I decided to get it since I did need to get a haircut. I do not regret this one bit!

The stylist I got was Misato and she did an absolutely awesome job. I asked for layers and a trim since it has gotten more difficult to put my hair into a clip. She did exactly what I wanted and I was really happy. Also, she did a great job at washing/conditioning my hair and I love the scalp/neck massage and wished it was longer, but the massage chair made up for it! I think this is the first salon I've been to that has massage chairs, so this was a nice treat. Also, the deal came with 10% off any products including Bumble & bumble and since I was in need of a conditioner, I got the super rich conditioner.

Aside from doing a wonderful job, Misato was really nice and offered tea and some rice crackers that I hadn't had in a long time. I didn't eat the rice crackers, but I did swipe them for later (haha, I feel like a bit of a thief). The receptionist was also friendly too and everything went great from checking in and paying the tax, tip, and the conditioner. I will definitely come back when I get the chance!

I've been a customer twice now.  Both on the social shopper deals.  $29 for a haircut,  scalp & neck massage and deep conditioning?  Can't go wrong!

I admit, I don't take the best care of my hair.  It's super thick, frizzy and dry.  I forget who I had on my first visit but I had Misato on my second trip.  I love how they have massage chairs when you lie there for the shampoo and conditioner.  Best idea ever!  The extra little scalp and neck massage is definitely appreciated!

My boyfriend, bless him, patiently waited while I had my haircut.  She offered him snacks and drinks while he waited.  He was too polite and declined but I piped up and almost shouted "Yes!"

The staff are so sweet and attentive.  They make it about the whole experience, not just the service you're getting.

The products they use to shampoo and condition smell heavenly.  My hair felt softer when I left.  The cut was to my liking.

This salon definitely treats their customers right.

I will be back!  And definitely go back to Misato!

I started going to Muse about a year ago when I bought a groupon type coupon for a really good price for a shampoo, cut and blowdry.  I was given Eva as my stylist.  Not only did she do a great job, but as many of the other reviewers have said, this salon is top notch in terms of service and extras.  I have never, ever enjoyed a shampoo so much---in the past I have cringed at how much it hurt to lay back in those awful sinks that hurt your neck and the back of your head.  At Muse you lie flat and it is the most comfortable sink ever---you are totally comfortable.  They give you a blanket and the chair--more like a massage table vibrates.  The head massages the stylists give while washing your hair make you almost fall asleep.  They also bring you drinks and cookies while cutting your hair which is a lovely touch.
I went back several times to Eva for both hair cuts and highlights.  Sadly she has moved back to Taiwan (I had come to Muse because my previous stylist moved to Dubai...snif snif).  Because of the incredible service and reasonable prices, I decided to come back and hopefully find a new stylist.  This time I had Misato for some highlights.  She did a terrific job just as Eva did.  Misato also gave me a neck, head and shoulder massage before styling my hair!  Amazing and such a nice extra.  This time it was a bit more expensive as each stylist seems to have a slightly different price list but I left very happy (once again) with my experience there.  I will go back soon for a haircut as I have read good things on here about Misato's haircuts.
I am glad that I bought my initial coupon as it brought me to Muse.  I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Awesome place. Came here on a voucher from The Red Pocket.

I've been here a few times for haircuts, and one time for a 1/2hr royal facial.

My first facial was done by Laya, and she was great. Apparently it was an Eminence Facial which comes with a bit of a massage element. If I knew the facial came with a massage I would have totally done the 1hr instead of the 1/2. I left feeling so rejuvenated. I do however recommend skipping out on the mineral finish if you have sensitive/softer skin, or you might breakout a little bit.

After the facial, I went to go get my hair done by Misato. Props to her for being able to actually give you a haircut which compliments your face/body type, she's amazing.

I am definitely coming back, and would recommend this place to anyone.

Oh yeah they give you snacks and refreshments throughout the whole process too. That's always a bonus.

When I'm in Vancouver, this is definitely the only place I go to now for both haircuts AND straightening.  Unfortunately, Eva's gone but my current stylist Misato is equally great!  I loved the hair cut she gave me and especially loved the fact she knew exactly what to do with my thick hair.  Perfect layers exactly where I wanted them.  She can cut hair that's for sure.

Misato did my Xtenso straightening treatment two days ago, and the whole experience was great from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. Hot towels, tea/coffee/snack service, fabulous Bumble and Bumble products, massage chair and a blanket while being shampooed...if you care about the little details as much as I do, don't look any further and head there now.  Don't be intimidated by the mostly Asian staff who sometimes don't speak a lot of English.  They have tons of magazines with haircut pictures.  Simply point to one or bring your own pictures and voila, you will emerge with the perfect haircut!

I went here for the first time to get a gel nail refill, but had only heard of it from my hair stylist, Alicia, who works at the Pomp and Proper salon on Main street.

I had been discussing a digital wave perm with Alicia over the last few months, and she advised that she couldn't do it at P&P because they don't have the equipment for a digital perm, but her friend (also owner? not sure) of Muse salon did digital wave perms.

Instead of scheduling the digital wave perm right away, I decided I better check this place out first, and I needed a gel nail refill anyway.

Oh my goodness; my expectations were not only met, but exceeded.

    Pros:

    -Friendly and hospitable staff
-Private locker to put away your purse
-Beverage offered on a tray with cookies
    -nice music, great decor

    Cons:

    - Not enough parking in front... that's it!

    About the nail technician:

    - So cute and sweet
    - Brought over some magazines without my even asking
    - When she noticed that the old layer of gel was showing through the new layer she had put on top, she explained why:  the layer underneath was "hard" gel - the kind that you have to file off if you want it removed.  That kind of gel is cheaper to buy, but does more damage to your nail bed.  She was putting on "soft" gel - which is more expensive, and potentially not as long lasting, but easier to take off with liquid, and much better for your nail bed.

To remedy this the french tip would have to be quite high, which she said wouldn't look good - and I agreed.  So, she offered to allow me to pick any shade of nail polish free of charge, and that once my nails grew out she would have me back to do a proper gel refill.  I thought this was so nice of her, and even though it's not what I had intended on getting, I picked out a spring coral shade called "Tease" and it actually looks really fabulous!

And this only cost $30!  I had previously been going to get my nails done by Philip at Sassy Nails in Kitsilano.  While I think he is efficient and does a good job, he charges me $45 for a gel refill, and doesn't take as great care or consideration about the quality of the finish -- not like the nail technician at Muse.

I'm excited to go back to review their other services, like their hair cutting, digital perms, and possibly even massages -- even though Spa Utopia is my first choice for that.   If this place continues to provide excellent service, I may even switch from P&P and go to Muse salon exclusively for all my hair needs.

You MUST give it a try!

I too came here on a Social Shopper purchase but I've been back since then as a regular customer. My stylist for the SS was extremely nice and did a wonderful job of cutting my hair. I have thick asian hair and most haircutters don't  know what to do differently to cut my hair. Eva knows and she did a great job of cutting 5 inches of hair off! I recently came back (about 4 months since my first visit, yes, I know I should get my hair cut more often) and she remembered me telling her about my upcoming (now  past) trip to Europe. She cut my hair again in a style I liked and I will keep on coming back to see Eva.

I was there for a shampoo/condition/head massage/cut and blowdry for an hour and 15 min which is a good amount of time and I don't mind at all.

I'm a first time client, and confess that I only came because I had a voucher for a haircut, deep conditioning, massage, and blowout.  Since I had an early appointment, I was able to park in their lot (beware: limited spaces available, so book early) in front of the salon.  Once I entered, a receptionist greeted me, checked me in, took my coat, asked whether I would need to place my belongings in my own personal locker and key (fabulous touch, by the way), and then handed me a smock to put on while I waited a few minutes for my stylist.  I appreciated the vast selection of current fashion and entertainment magazines (both Asian and non) in the event I needed to catch up on gossip, fashion trends while waiting or during my styling.

Once I met my stylist, we had a consultation and then I headed off for my hair wash and massage.  I think this was the best part of my experience--especially once she turned on the massage chair while I was reclined in hair wash mode.  I was also covered with a light blanket.  AWESOME!!!  It didn't even bother me that I was at a 10:00am hair appointment.  And then the head/neck massage and hot towels...I could have gone back to sleep.

Afterwards, we headed back to her work station and was immediately offered coffee, tea. or water.  I asked for coffee and was given my beverage in a coffee cup on a plate with two tea cookies--nice touch.

My stylist really gave me the attention I needed and was careful to give me the haircut that I asked for during our consultation.

Discount or not, I'd definitely go back again.

I was stopped at the corner of Cambie and Broadway last summer and a person asked if I wanted to buy a package that Muse Salon was promoting.  It just recently opened and they have a whole variety of services.  They offer, cut & style, massage, and pedi/manicure.  It was a bit shady at first but I ended up buying it anyways.  It was a good deal and I needed a haircut pretty bad.

It is asian runned, mostly japanese people working there.  I got a haircut and colour.  I have to say, the full service was great.  I was very pleased with the service from shampoo to cut to style.  I sat in a massaging chair while I was getting my hair washed.  The stylist understood what I wanted even though I was not clear with my description.  I've grown my hair out and it's been almost 6 months since I got a hair cut.  You can still see the layers and without much combing or styling, my hair isn't too poofy as it's know to be when I get my hair layered.  This salon uses bumble and bumble products.  The products are very concentrated so you don't need a lot and the products do not contain a fruity smell.  I asked the stylist why and she said that with hair products, you don't want the smell of the hair products to overshadow the perfume or cologne that you're wearing.

I got a massage from them the next time I went.  She used massaging lotion and the scent was not strong at all.  It had a hint of a green tea smell but you can't really smell it.  The lotion that she used was hypoallergenic and organic.  Before the massage, she gave me a hot face towel to wash my face and my hands.  The massaging table was heated and so were the sheets used to cover my body.  I wish the massage for my shoulders and head was longer.  I felt so relaxed after my massage.

I wouldn't go back for a mani or pedicure.  I know they do a great job and cleaning the tools used, it just felt like it wasn't the best pedicure I had ever.  The girl looked a bit disgusted at my dry skin and the callus I had on my feet.

they hardly have any parking spaces  in front of their salon and it's hard to find street parking even in paid spots.  make sure you either take transit, get dropped off, book an early appointment or you head their early to find a parking spot!

Well I went there as I received a 'coupon' for a massage there. I've been having a bit of lower back problems (nothing at that time specifically). Anyways, I was going to a RMT before so I knew I wasn't getting that, but at the same time was hoping for something well close to it or decent. The massage was sub-par. I was asked where 'it hurt' (or something along those lines) and well the masseuse definitely did not concentrate on that area. The masseuse massaged in ways that 'hurt' and I'm never sure whether or not I am supposed to say it hurts, or if its supposed to 'hurt good.' Anyways, I wouldn't go back for the massage.

    Side note:

I will agree with one of the other yelpers that the oil they used was very nice, the music was nice as well. For some it might be bothersome that you could hear a bit of background sound from the front area, but I didn't mind at all, I would've fallen asleep if it was.

The first time I came, Kayoko gave me a perm.  It was a little loose, but overall, she did a pretty good job.  She also gave me a great bang trim, so I was excited to get a haircut from her in the future to see what she could do with more hair.  She was also nice and friendly.

After Kayoko's perm, strangers (mostly Chinese) would come up to me asking me where I got my hair done.  Yes, my friends.  She is that good. I gave her name out to so many people, some of whom claimed they, too, would be willing to trek out to Vancouver for her.

I made an appointment a few months later to get my hair cut by Kayoko. When I got there, after driving from Seattle (weekend trip), they told me Kayoko was out sick and that William, the creative director, would cut my hair instead.  My friend had had William before and he seemed to do a good job so I wasn't too worried.  William did a nice job.  I prefer a little more of a Japanese style, but I was happy with the cut.

After the cut, they told me they were charging me William's price ($10 more) for the haircut.  I thought this was ridiculous considering I ASKED for Kayoko. I understand she is sick but I didn't ask for William or his price.  After some back and forth, they insisted since he was the creative director that's how it was.  I was really irritated and shouldn't have even left a tip.

I sent them another email complaining.  They wrote me back and were defensive but gave me a $10 credit anyway.

I went back about 9 months later.  I didn't need a cut so I just got a bang trim since I was in the area.  Turns out, Kayoko had left!! William wasn't available so Kento trimmed my bangs.  I was upset Kayoko had left but I had to use that $10 credit anyway right?  Now Kento was very nice, but maybe we had a miscommunication or something because he trimmed my bangs way too short.  I was completely horrified.

I'm really picky when it comes to my hair, not going to lie.  With Kayoko gone and me not finding another hairdresser I like as much there, I see no reason for me to drive all the way up here again.  Maybe if I'm going up to Vancouver anyway (not motivated by the hair) and desperately need a haircut (and still haven't found a hairdresser in Seattle), I'll shell out for William. Maybe.

Went here for the first time a few days ago and I will DEFINITELY be coming back =)

This salon is beautifully laid out and super swank. They have the most amazing, futuristic hair wash stations that are more like vibrating beds of awesomeness where your head just naturally lies into the sink and takes you away to relaxation!

Muse doesn't cut corners on anything. They take great care in each customer and pay attention to the fine details of your visit from the moment you step into the salon. Prices are totally affordable... and they do everything from hair to nails to organic facials. Check it out for yourself!

I got 2 Social Shopper coupons:  1) for a haircut with hair conditioning treatment and 20% off on other services and 2) for a facial or massage.

    Haircut
I got a haircut with Kento and got my hair Japanese straightened. Kento listened to what I want to do with my hair and gave me suggestions.  The haircut turned out to be what I expected.  I found the straightening is not as straight or as nicely done as another place I have been to. For the price I paid, I'm kind of disappointed.

    Facial
The facial was nice and relaxing. The room is spacious and lighting was nice and soft.  I think the music is louder than other spas to mask the noise from the hair studio.  They use Eminence Organic facial products for your skin.  The esthetician was very nice and gentle.  Too gentle in some parts - black heads were not all removed as she was being too gentle with my skin.

Wow! Had an amazing massage at Muse today! I was pleasantly surprised.  I purchased a coupon for a massage online and really had no idea what to expect but was totally blown away!  The salon is nicely decorated with a lot of attention to detail and very friendly staff.  I honestly think it was the best massage i've ever had! When I arrived I was greeted and offered a locker to store my things, my jacket was hung up for me and I was led to a nice room with a massage table and calming music.  My masseuse was wonderful, she was very professional and highly skilled.  I loved the massage lotion they used as well, it has a light citrus scent to it.  I've already booked myself in for another massage and a pedicure in a couple weeks, can't wait!

I went to Muse for the first time a few months ago (using a group buy coupon) for a massage. I don't remember the girl's name, but she was fantastic. It started with a sort of wash/scrub on your legs, and the girl asked what scent I preferred for the massage oil/lotion. I chose the more citrus-y one. The massage was extremely relaxing, and the pressure was great. I do agree with other reviews I've read, though, that the music from the rest of the salon was a little loud and should have been turned down for the sake of having a relaxing experience. I will definitely go back, though!

I can't say enough about William Wang's skill as a hairdresser.  He's cut my hair half a dozen times now and the style is fresh and different each time and yet also very me.

He's great at colour too and each time he's suggested something new I've enjoyed it.
