Coming up on 5 years ago we had a destination wedding in Canmore/Calgary. With a small wedding party of 16 or so people, we had our reception upstairs at Murrieta's. The food was amazing, great views of the mountains, and the service was amazing. I'm so glad we had our reception here!

The view from this restaurant is spectacular, and I liked the open concept atmosphere.
Service was without personality. I don't think our server smiled once. The table next to us, however, was served by a bubbly server, who told the patrons all about her drunken escapades, and how she doesn't remember much of their most recent staff party because she was too wasted. At the end of her shift, she changed into something scant and sat at the bar in the lounge for dinner. Unclassy... (Strike 1)
I ordered the soft-shell crab daily special. To me, the crab tasted off. I bit into a large chunk of ginger root, which was really off-putting, but the waiter assured me the chef meant to keep the ginger in the broth. Still not sure if I believe that... (Strike 2)
We ordered some espresso at the end of our meal. It was so bitter, it was barely palatable. (Strike 3)
Might try again. Found the place a bit pretentious overall and overpriced, but may give it another chance. -

Had dinner here last week and it was ok. It was a weekday and they weren't that busy. Nice inside with vaulted ceilings. I ordered the curry scallop dish. The rice was NOT good, stuck into clumps and almost like it was in the fridge overnight - bleck, but the scallops were good and so was the service. -

Unacceptably loud; terrible service. We waited 45 minutes for our main course to arrive. Both dishes were over-salty and the mussels beside the risotto were cold. It took 15 minutes after ordering dessert to be told that what we requested was no longer available, then another 7 minutes to get our dessert. Then to top it all off, we were given the wrong bill! For all this we were given 20% off our bill.
The place is very noisy and seems to transmit noises over long distances. We heard loud screaming from an infant that it took us 10 minutes to locate. The open servery emits a lot of clatter of plates.

Nice decor, great views and atmosphere, the service was first class. Importantly it was a great menu selection and the food was excellent. Will definitely be back there soon.
You will not be disappointed. -

A - List. Still awesome. The soup was fantastic and the mushroom burger superb. Service was solid. The best place in town.

If you talk to most Canmore regular visitors, they will all say this place is great. Ive been there prior to this weekend and thought it was the cats pajamas. ( my saying) Well I should not have went on this busy Saturday because I got the waitress who had too much on her plate. Get it? I wanted to ask for the other one who seemed in a better mood. So this kind of bummed my experience for the price I paid. I had a prior female server and she was so professional. Steak was meh and the veggies were microscopic. I had to ask for bread with my drink. So I will write this honest review to say, there are bad times at Murriettas!!

A fantastic restaurant, make sure to stop by at least once each year while we're in the Canmore area. They are always keen to include fresh, local ingredients in their dynamic menu. They also have a VERY well stocked bar with over 30 different scotches! What more could you ask for?
