I walk by everyday and have always been hit with the yummy aroma of earl grey and rooibos tea..so I finally had to go in and try it out...

Like being transformed to an tea shop in London in the days of yore..that's right I said the days of yore...it's dark and cozy..filled with teas and cookies and so much more...

I was in a bit of a hurry so i just jumped in line to order a tea.I had an earl grey at the recommendation of the girl behind the counter..with some milk and honey.,.loved the cup it came in..no pesky sleeve..the cup is designed so that the heat is isolated in the cup but will not burn your hand..I don;t really know how to explain it..but it's brilliant!

I will be back to look at some of the teas and take a few bags to take home with me...

I'm not a huge tea fan, but Murchie's is still obviously the best place to get tea in the lower mainland. I remember its old location downtown in a narrow little storefront that had tons of different tea options and how my mother would insist on going there whenever she was in town.

Now the downtown location is a bit more shiny and bright and less charming but this location in West Van is still fairly enjoyable. What I like most is the fact it chooses to focus just as much on the eating/drinking cafe side of tea as it does the selling. The other locations tended to focus on buying bags/boxes of tea but this one operates as half store , half cafe.

I rarely venture out to West Van so when I'm in the neighborhood I tend to be exhausted from travel, work or shopping and it's nice to have such a cute little relaxed place to hang out and have a drink in. Even if I'm only half in love with the fact that all I can have is tea.

Best tea. Better than Bean, better than Blenz, better than Starbucks. Sick of watery, flavourless tea and sloppy service? A "tea jenny" like me? Go to Murchie's, and get yourself a royalty card while you're at it.
