Review from Amy T.
I've always liked Murchie's, but they just took it to the next level.
Macarons, baby!!
They may not have a huge range of flavors, but they have my favorite. Pistachio. Soft and fluffy on the outside. Smooth, creamy and filled with bits of pistachio in the middle.
The price is extremely affordable at $1.25 each and $15.95 for a box of 18. There are only 4 flavors at the moment and I'm hoping they expand on that.Listed in: Macarons

Be forewarned that I sound kinda snooty in this review:
I asked what the flavours of the macarons are as they were not labelled in the display.
Counter girl #1 did not know what macarons are. Um, guess she's not aware of the Macaron Mania Movement sweeping across the globe (am sarcastic but cool alliteration no?). Facepalm.
Counter girl #2 informed me that they were chocolate and vanilla.
I decided to get chocolate.
They were coffee flavoured.
Frustrated grunt + double facepalm.
I also got lavender flavoured black tea. I detected 0.00000000% lavender. Black tea was strong though. Tea pot and mug are generic white china, like at a Chinese restaurant - so hygienic/utilitarian looking. Pretty unimpressed at a place that specializes in tea.

In this Rainy Glass City filled with Cafes, it seemed almost like Tea didn't exist unless you flew across the Ocean. Noticing a couple fine Ladies enjoying something in a Teapot behind the glass I stopped. Not because of the Ladies but because it was Afternoon Tea Time and the space within looked suited for such a time and very relaxing unlike the Cafe west of here.
Murchies has enough on offer and I would suggest to stick with Tea as this seemed more of a British Tea Shop than the Coffee they also offer. The friendly Ladies even had enough of an accent to back that fact up. I scored a free Beverage too as the Lady was so friendly when I asked to have a cup of their Golden Jubilee Tea she comped me. :DListed in: Vancouver'ing for the Week

This review is about buying tea leaves to take home, not drinking or eating in the store.
I was disappointed by the Pomegranate Rooibos. I thought maybe I couldn't smell the Pomegranate, because the sample was out on a plate. I bought it anyways because I like pomegranate, but I still couldn't discern any pom after steeping it to drink.
What I DIDN'T like compared to other loose-tea-buying experiences:
- 1 oz (28g) minimum and half-oz increments.
- The clerk scribbled the name of the tea on the bag... (no cool label).
- No instructions on how many teaspoons per cup / how hot the water / how long to steep. I looked on their website, but couldn't find it there, either.
What I DID like:
+ Cool old-fashioned scale (but it had a recent government sticker certifying it to be accurate).
I liked the many Big Tea Mugs for sale. The café section with the desserts and sandwiches seemed OK (the chocolate mousse looked good).
I wrote this in my first review:
"I couldn't figure out why it wasn't appealing, though, until I went to the Oakridge Murchie's: lack of natural light. The front half of the store does have natural light, but for some reason, the seating area is way in the back."
But there actually are seating by the windows, as well. I wonder why I didn't notice it the first time.
A sign on the door said 'Wi-Fi! ask us!'. I didn't, so I'm not sure if it's free for customers or paid. -

Murchie's continues to pride itself on a tradition of providing excellent coffee and tea. The focus is on supplying Vancouver citizens with fair trade tea and coffee in a pleasant atmosphere. It's very old school tea room at this location. It took me ages to realize that there was a little bakery tucked away at the back, behind all the merchandise.
The atmosphere is a bit stuffy but it has still managed to maintain its original English charm. While the dedicated focus is on tea and coffee, be sure to try some of their delicious baked goods, particularly the scones. -

I'm a tea fan, and I think Murchie's is one of the best place to get tea in Vancouver.
You can buy some tea and coffee or you can take your time there, relax and drink a tea or coffee with a nice piece of cake. -

I am enamoured by Murchie's. Hands down, this is one of the best cafes serving some of the best teas I've ever tasted. If you're downtown, this is a must-go.
On our most recent trip (which was during the colder months), we had our little pup with us, and though I'm sure it must be against the ever-strict health codes, Murchie's staff had no problem with us sitting directly inside the shop with our well-behaved girl lying at our feet, bothering no one. Had it been warmer and the tables were outside, we certainly would've sat there.
We ordered a number of things--and purchased more gifts than that--including two pots of tea and four cups. Total for our afternoon drink following a strenuous shopping extravaganza: $3.99. Excellent deal. -

I discovered Murchie's in Victoria, and was very excited to discover the location on Robson street!
If you want to feel like you are stepping into a little English tea room I encourage you to try this place, it's quaint and it's lovely. They have fabulous teas and coffees, and merchandise you can buy (do you don't always have to go there for a nice cuppa).
If you are a tea lover like me, I highly recommend you cruise by Murchies on your next trip downtown. -

My first time visiting Murchies, but this will probably be my shortest review yet. The espresso here tastes burnt. That's all I really have to say. My Americano made it back to the office with me but I don't think I can finish it.

I discovered this place by accident online before even going in to the store but I liked what I saw. Their website is comprehensive and shows off their ingredients well, they have rare flavors and a scale system to show the strength of each tea. It is a bit on the pricier side but any true tea lovers know, you can't sacrifice quality when it's the first thing you put into your body in the morning.

This is one of my 'special treat' locations in the city. Fun to grab an exotic tea to go, nice to sit and enjoy the ambiance, great gifts for friends with fine taste. More an afternoon break place than a lunch/meal location.

Beware this store does not honour posted prices. I went in to purchase 13 packages of coasters - all priced @ $9.95 (in fact they were sitting under a sign that said gifts under $10). Some came up as $9.95 and some as $12.50. They refused to honour the $9.95 price!

I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I really like Murchies- partly because I love their iced soy london fogs at a much cheaper price than starbucks! I've been several times and have also always been impressed by the friendly younger staff.
