Mmm my new favorite shawarama place!! Came upon this place one cold night; I've always wanted to try this place out. I've heard good things about their Bada Bing food truck, so I knew this would be a good choice.
I got a chicken shawarama which came with all the works. Tabouleh, garlic sauce, hummus, lots of chicken, and four kinds of salad veggies to choose from. Marinated tomatoes. Yes please!
One bite into this and it was delicious!! The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and all the components went together well. The extra veggies added the crispness which I liked. A truly satisfying quick meal!
And to end off the meal, I couldn't resist but to get a piece of their baklava!! Layers of honey phyllo, soo good! -

To be honest, I had no idea what a shawarma until I walked into this place.
Parking here is pretty horrendous, as this is Hipster Land.
The interior is a bit curious looking. Looks like something you'd find inside a haunted house. Just a bit creaky, but it's clean. One word of warning: it is HOT in here. Think of the restaurant as one giant kitchen. The heaters for the meat vent directly into the dining area. You will break a sweat. Oh yeah, the place was also deserted in terms of sit-in. So you can probably throw an entire party, while watching the TV attached to the back wall.
The food is quite reasonably priced, at $6.49 for a chicken shawarma. Most other dishes go up to about $8. If you get any item, soup is $2 on top. Not bad.
The guy was really nice and let me cram my shawarma full of all these different toppings, with no limit. This was a good idea until I realized that water was coming out of the salads. Soaked my hand. Totally my fault.
The guy also told us that of the soups, the lentil is homemade while the minestrone is purchased. So, go for the lentil. The soup actually was pretty good.
There is this really awesome (non-alcoholic) malt drink called Barbican here. Look for the bottles with Arabic written all over. I had a raspberry one and it was freaking good. Then again, it was also $2.50.
Lastly, the washroom here is clean as a whistle. Special mention here.
The food is tasty and the service is a bit slow (this 1 guy has to do everything, can't blame him), but the food is a pretty good deal, as it will fill one up nicely. Just be sure to get the takeout if you don't want to bake. -

I was informed by a super Elite that they have a food truck too. So this place has to be good. Why? Cause food trucks are awesome!
And she was right. This place was good. It was a precursor to our Elite event accross and down the street that night and my dear brother Jay came along for the grub too.
Good grub. Vegetarian grub. Heart healthy grub. I got the falafel with cabbage and tabouleh and extra hot sauce with jalepeno's and it just hit the right spot.
It helped to give me enough energy through the night and the nice thing. I didn't need meat to fill me up.
Fresh ingredients, friendly service and clean place all add up to a near perfect score.
Great place and a definate recommendation if you are hankering for a shawarma or falafel in this neighbourhood. -

This place is awesome and the prices are awesome too. If you eat in, they fill your plate up pretty high, so you can either try to get two meals out of the one, or you can try to implode yourself.

Why Mr. Shawarma, I think I am falling for you. I know that there are Donair Dudes and Falafel Kings but Mr. you might be the one.....
I ordered my standard chicken shawarma and was very pleased with all of the topping options available to load on. Hummus, tahini, tabouleh, tzatziki - yes please! Did they have plain iceberg lettuce? No, they had a Greek salad-like lettuce medley. Did they have plain tomatoes? No, they had marinated tomatoes. Yum.
The chicken was moist and had a nice flavour. My personally optimum spicing for a shawarma involves garlic at a level which guarantees to repel all vampires within 100 miles and Mr. Shawarma didn't come close to hitting that mark, but it did keep me socially acceptable so I can't complain too much. Size-wise, this shawarma was one of the smaller ones I've had recently, which is fine for me but for a heartier appetite might be problematic.
They offered up a lamb sample while I was waiting, nice touch Mr.. I will be back. -

I've done the shawarma lunch twice now at this little W. 4th Ave spot and been completely satisfied on both occasions. The first time I had the Chicken which I loaded with all manner of tasty accompaniments - that yummy parsley stuff, olives, lettuce, tomato and the garlic sauce filled my office with it's potent charm! Everyone asked me what I was having for lunch. My response was "A tasty mess!" And messy it certainly was. They filled the pita to bursting point. A truly satisfying lunch for about $7 and change.
The second time I dropped in I was fortunate enough to find lamb on the menu. They cut it right off the rotisserie and packed the pita so full of the juicy meat there was Barely room for the humus, tzatziki, black olives and lettuce I asked for. Once again my office colleagues were hovering around my desk as I munched on my latest creation. I think they're catching on....
Be sure to ask for the loyalty card when you go! -

I freaking love Mr. Shawarma. Chicken Shawarma platter is most excellent. And I am not sure what sort of addictive substance that they are putting in their garlic sauce BUT I WANT SOME RIGHT NOOOOOW!

Like everyone else seems to have mentioned, the flavor is lacking. It seems like they're playing it safe. As my friends Indo-Canadian mother once told me when I was visiting for supper "Don't worry, I only made this 'white-people' spicy." I can handle a lot of flavor and a lot of spice, garlic is universally used, so why skimp on THAT Mr. Shawarma, why? This sounds harsh but it's true: I've made better hummus in my Magic Bullet.... at 2 am.... drunk. I wouldn't say it if it weren't true. I had to put so much pepper in the lentil soup, and thought to myself "with a little bit of coriander, cumin and cayenne, this would be amazing!". I was thinking of ways that I could better a soup that I payed good money for...
Over all my experience was disappointing. Will I find myself eating here again? If I'm in the neighborhood, and it's the most convenient option I probably would go back. But if the question was, would I go back just for the food? No. No I would not. -

Not sure what it is about them (maybe something in the baclava?), but they have the best customer service and friendliest staff I've encountered in the city! All of the staff are so friendly and helpful, which is a refreshing change to the usual cold, bored, dismissive staff I've sadly gotten used to here in Vancouver.
I had a problem with a credit card charge at one point, which can always be stressful, but they were so concerned about getting it resolved, that it put me at ease.
I love their shawarmas too. I skip the tabouleh since I don't like parsley, and double up on the cabbage. Add chicken, garlic sauce and hummus and I'm a happy camper! Plus, it's the only affordable restaurant I've found on 4th ave.
Highly recommended - and if you go be sure to pick up some of their baclava baked in house! -

Swung in on a whim. I'm pretty particular about my shawarmas. The only ones I can say I enjoy are Abdul's at Crystal Mall in Burnaby and the places on Robson near Granville. I compare all else to those two and Mr. Shawarma did okay in the comparison. Needs some more spice though.
It was a bit more like Subway than a traditional shawarma place that I'm used to. It's definitely the best in the area, I'd go back. The price point is also good, especially for being in Kits. -

* New shawarma and salad spot *
Passed by today and noticed that PHAT closed, and was replaced by Mr. Shawarma. A quick look in the window and the salads and pita toppings all looked really fresh, so we stopped in to try it out.
The chicken shawarma pita wrap included a very nice fresh tabouleh, a huge amount of chicken from the spit, garlic sauce, a very nice hummus, pickled beets, tahini, and hot peppers. A nice pita sandwich overall.
I also got to try the falafel platter which had a very generous portion of salad (which had a nice hint of mint in the dressing), 4 large falafel (the long type, not round), hummus, pressed yogurt, and some pita.
Overall for a quick bite, this is a nice little spot. I wish them luck!Listed in: Which wich is which?, Vancouver Middle Eastern Food

Mr. Shawarma needs to get over his fear of garlic and spices.
Dry chicken, bland hummus, and flavourless tabouleh was the verdict in our office. -

Very worth it - great bargain and good food. Fast service also...hard to find good bargains for your money in Vancouver but this is one of those places.

A good place to stop by for a quick bite to eat. $5.99 for a chicken shawarma, with halal chicken meat. The chicken was pre-removed from the spinning shawarma meat thing, so it was cold. we had to ask them to heat up the shawarma , other than that it was pretty good. The place is nice and neat and convenient if you work in the area.

I went here last night for a quick bite before softball, and I'm pretty stoked. at $5.99 for a shawarma wrap, i was satisfied with the giant serving of chicken and loads of toppings packed into my wrap. these prices aren't going to last in kits. The service wasn't especially fantastic but my wrap was made quickly and i was in and out in 5 minutes.
