We finished up presenting to our group a little early and decided to have a quick bite before driving home to the Okanagan. Moxies was a little tough to get to from the east side of 152nd but worth figuring out.

Lisa was our server and brought a great attitude along with even better service.

If you are stopping for lunch, ask to sit in Lisa's section.

So what do you do when you have to meet someone half way and you're both coming from opposite ends of Metro Vancouver? You choose a place that's right near a freeway exit.

Moxies is a nostalgic place for me: it was one of my first jobs. Back in the day they served up big breakfasts (reminiscent of Dennys...they're all owned by the Sandman Group), even bigger kids menus (with dry ice under ice cream or jello that posed as volcanoes), and a mouthful of starchy sides, "Would you like green salad, Caesar salad, fries, baked potato, mashed potato or soup?"

Moxies has still retained some of its goodie-roots: banana bread served on the side of salads, broccoli cheddar soup, and the every gooey white chocolate brownie; however, it has "grown up" quite a bit.

Now it feels like a compilation of Joeys, Cactus Club, Earls. Milestones. A selection of multi ethnic inspired choices, servers wearing tight black shirts and short black skirts, and a forno oven. Last time I was there I had a tandoori chicken pizza while my friend enjoyed the seasonal beet salad with pine nuts and goat cheese.

You know what you're going to get: consistent food with lots of selection. Its a good place to go when you need to entertain a big group.

The Lounge looked lively as we were leaving, but I had a long drive home.

I was here this evening for a friends birthday, and I was surprised to find the restaurant so quiet. Barely any of the tables were filled, and we got there at PRIME dinner time (6:30pm)... anyways, we moseyed along to our table, took a seat, and waited a good 10 minutes for water... the good thing though was that I actually was able to get water WITH LIME, instead of lemon!! Yay!

Anyway, the food didn't seem half bad - but I think I just ordered the wrong thing. Make a note NOT to order the Citrus Fusion Salad - it was dosed in dressing, it didn't have any noodles as promised, and it was pretty small for a salad that's supposed to double as a meal. Everyone else's food did look quite good - so I'm not going to write this place off completely, but... it just wouldn't be my first restaurant of choice.

ps. One time I came here and really wanted the Grilled Cheese Sandwich - which is only on the kid's menu - and THEY WOULDN'T SERVE IT TO ME! =(

Moxies on 152 used to be good, but they changed their menu a while back and the food really sucks now. Service is as hit or miss as anywhere else these days.

we were stuck in Langley after a wedding and had some time to kill so we popped into the local Moxies (near Willowbrook Mall).. i mean we were in Langley so our options were pretty limited.. about 4 or 5 years ago Moxies ranked as my top 'chain' restaurant to go to, if i had to go to one.. but it has since dropped in its ranking.. i simply got bored.. but will sometimes frequent it out of convenience

it was about 3-4pm so we got some light lunch fare to tide us over til dinner at a wedding reception

the service was good.. as is custom at most surrey, langley and other fraser valley restaurants (especially ones that aren't too busy which is most) the server comes by frequently, often and with little time in between for you to think (mainly cuz i think they are bored and this is status quo).. unlike vancouver restaurants where they kind of leave you for a bit to mull things over

saturday is moxie size your cocktail for $2 day.. so i started with a moxie size lime margarita.. its the white slush that floats on top (80%) and you got the good stuff all at the bottom.. not a big fan of these.. would be better if they were completely blended.. the other drink i got was a double vodka with seven.. figured i'd stick with the basics

i ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich with a sub for the soup of the day as a side.. i got a chicken gumbo

the food was decent.. not the best you'll ever had but it serves its purpose.. and its not fast food so a place to go if you have an hour for a meal but you want something expected and simple

if you have room or you are just in the mood for dessert.. i would definitely recommend the white chocolate brownie.. i haven't had it in a while but its amazing!  it comes out warm with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream.. its a moxies trademark and must be tried at least once! or twice! or thrice!  you get the point..
