Love them. Great Service.
So I brought in the most janky bike in the world for them to fix. It had been abandoned in my stairwell for three years.
They went above and beyond for me, sourcing old parts online and shipping them in at no additional cost.
The whole staff is cool and friendly. They rock. -

I've stopped in here three times in the last couple months for various issues with my beater road bike. The first time I snapped my chain during my commute to work, remembered passing this shop on my way home every day, so I walked the bike over and locked it up out front until I could return after work (they were not open yet). Swinging by after work I get a new chain put on for only the cost of the chain. Two weeks ago, I came out of work to a blown tube and tire so back to Mox I went. $30 later I've got a brand new tire and tube installed.
I'm not sure I'll ever be in the market for one of their ultra high end cycles, but I will definitely make the effort to get any repairs done by Jacob who has been nothing but extremely friendly and helpful. -

I went out today at lunch to hit up my favorite fish market and butcher and had some skipping on my gears on my bike on my way there. I remember seeing a sign for a bike store in the West Loop on Randolph. I stopped in and asked how long and how much it would take to adjust my bike. The guy said he would do it right away. Within the time it had taken me to walk across the street and pick up my bacon, chicken and steak at Olympic Meats, the guy had fixed it and explained to me how to fix it in the future. These guys are REALLY nice and very helpful. The same job at Village Cycle in Old Town would have taken overnight and $40-$50....At Performance Cycle on Halsted about $35....but here they had just charged me $10 and he cleaned all the dirt off my bike and gears as well. I will be back and I recommend if you need your bike tuned up, fixed, or just want to check out the cool gear they have in the store to go here.

I was riding home from work recently one evening and as I proceeded through an intersection, a cog popped off my bike, loosening the chain, rendering the bike useless. Luckily I wasn't out of the Loop yet, and fellow cyclist stopped to see if he could help and pointed me in the direction of Mox.
Long story short, the employee was super nice to me and friendly, something I haven't found at other shops unless you know as much about bikes as they do - which, if you did, why would you need their shop?? Anyway, she explained what had gone wrong, did the repair, and DIDN'T CHARGE ME!!! Basically, the turn up i had done a couple weeks ago, at a different shop, they had a couple bolts too tight, causing too much tension and then the popped cog. not going there again!!! I LOVE MOX!!! I should also mention, another newer shop I took my '70's schwinn to, didn't have the parts or tools to work on it. Mox said, "well, let's try anyway and if we don't have the right stuff, we'll make sure we set you up with some who does." AWESOME! -

These guys are the best. I had a nasty habit during the summer of getting a flat tire every few weeks, like clockwork. This gave me the rare opportunity to sample a variety of the many bike shops across Chicago because while the timing of my flats was fairly regular, the location was not.
One of my "experiences" left me stranded off by Halsted and thanks to my phone I was able to find this lovely little shop. I rolled my sad, deflated (HA! haha.) friend into the shop. At this particular instance, I was supposed to be meeting a friend for a movie, but I expected to be dropping the better part of an hour waiting around to get my new tube installed, so I told my companion to soldier on without me.
However! With no clamoring on my part or even employment of the puppy dog stare, they fixed me up in about 15 minutes, getting me out the door and nearly on-time to my previously scheduled engagement. And to top it off, I haven't had a flat (fingers crossed) since! So kudos to the craftsmanship. Compared to places like REI, this place was the picture of efficiency. I suppose you could say they were well oiled and in top gear.
Okay I stop now. -

I work just a few doors away and, after a flat yesterday on my commuter bike, I was dreading trying to get that sorted out at work: getting my hands dirty and then putting them on white, Mac products seems like a bad idea.
Instead of putting it on the very full bus, I thought I would give them a shot. The thought was intimidating: they sell triathlon bikes no less than $6,000 a piece. *gulp* That's not me. That's like getting a Chevy fixed at the Bentley dealership. I expected thumbed noses, airs, and queenly waves.
But I got NONE of that. I was very pleasantly directed to the back of the store to the repair section. Even at noon on a Tuesday, I was handled quickly and for $15 I was back on the road (turns out I busted the stem so I needed a new tube).
On top of that, I inquired on a frame/fork set to replace my current frame and they had something in the right range. That's good stuff because they're very convenient and I wouldn't mind reestablishing a relationship with a good bike shop. -

So I had my bike stolen...and I decided when I bought my bike to be stupid and not keep track of my serial number and other important info....well MOX really came to the rescue!!
I gave them a ring after I found out my bike was stolen, and they said to come by with your receipt and they would be able to track down my serial number for me. When you buy a bike from them they enter the serial into the system and track it, and actually it is printed on your receipt usually too. For some reason mine was not when I bought it so they had to pull it up again and print the info off for me...now thats all on my police report...fingers crossed!!
The staff there has been nice both times I went in (purchasing the bike and getting the serial)... I already knew exactly what I wanted so I cant comment much on sales/recommendations type of things...but they really do seem to know their stuff. -

Just a heads up that this store used to be called Mission Baby Multisport and you should read the reviews there.
Having had a bikeseat and post stolen and this being 1 block away we stopped in. Though everyone is friendly they are elitist about riding. If you are not riding on the uppercrust of bicycles they have no time for you. Two guys helped us at once and one said "bring your bike by and we can see if we have anything to fit." The other guy said "buying a new seat and post will cost as much as your bike. I don't think I'll have one that will fit."
Having gone through the whole elitist poo poo of people not welcoming others into their sport unless they have a $6000 Cervelo, no thanks. I will take my business elsewhere where my bike is judged by the miles it has taken me and not by the brand name on it.
FYI: I ride a GT road bike and the bike in question to be fixed is a Schwinn. -

My boyfriend brought two bikes in here to get them boxed for a move. The price they quoted for breaking down and packing the bikes was considerably better than other stores we had contacted ($35 per bike). They were promised the following day at 5, but when my boyfriend arrived shortly after that time, he was informed that they weren't done yet, and was told to come back in an hour. My boyfriend had rented an i-Go car for half an hour for the explicit purpose of picking up the bikes, and when he explained this to them, they agreed to discount him the cost of the packing by 20%.
When he came home and tried to reserve another i-Go car for an hour later, he found that none of the cars nearby were available and we were running out of time. We had plans for the evening and our movers were scheduled to come early the following day, before MOX opened- a real bind for us. We called the store and explained the situation, and they very kindly agreed to drive the bikes to our place (we live close by)- no hassle, no grumbling, no attitude.
In short, we were very pleased with the experience, and with the fact that they went above and beyond to make up for the delay. Excellent customer-focused service and a great price for the work. -

My sister bike broke down when we were riding around the west loop so we decided to go there. I drove by the shop before and never really got a chance to check it out.
So I didn't buy anything there but the staff was really nice and friendly. They fixed it as fast as they could (it wasn't really a big deal).
The pricing for repair is pretty good I believe and i lived around there I would probably go there regularly for tune ups or to get stuff for my bike. -

I rarely give 5 stars but I have too...I just gotta! Mox knocks it out of the ballpark when it comes to customer service.
I recently purchased a bike from them and let me tell you. They were so patient and attentive. The bike shop is female owned. I guess I really like the shop because Amy is from the south. She has the accent to prove it. She is so personable. Just keep asking her to say "Ya'll". With me being from Texas, I tend to say that more than enough. She will have you cracking up.
They have a nice selection of Felt, Jamis, Guru just to name a few. In addition, they offer training classes. This is one well rounded bike shop. For those competitive cyclist looking to improve their game, Mox is your spot to train. This includes those interested in learning how to do Chi running.
If you can't get Amy, ask for Mo or Troy. All are competitive athletes and know a thing or too about bikes....
Mox it folks!
There was a group of folks that purchased bikes from them and they have offered to do a bike clinic for us. In addition, they have great classes to get you ready for those long rides. -

Mox is fantastic -- for the VERY experienced cyclist or triathlete and for beginngers. Staff is all very experienced (cyclists and triathletes).
My boyfriend and I are doing our first Tri. this weekend and about 2 months ago stopped in because we were looking to buy road bikes. We figured they only had very high end equipment (much more than we wanted to spend), but not only do they have the $3,000+ tri and road bikes, but they had one intro-level model in the $700 range.
They didn't have my size so they ordered it the next day, and when we both purchased the bikes they gave us about $150 off since we purchased two bikes (even though the combined price of the two bikes we bought doesn't even come close to the price of one high end bike they sell!). They are so generous and really know their stuff. Highly recommended! -

I stopped in because I was in the neighborhood with some time to kill. I recently had a front wheel stolen so I thought I'd stop in to see if they had any for sale.
They predominantly sell really swank triathalon, time trial, cross, and road bikes, but they've also got a few higher end track bikes and I think I even saw a couple of mountain bikes. They've got swank wheel sets too, and some accessories but not too much gear (if you like to tinker).
I asked the guy in back I needed a front wheel, but saw they really only had wheel sets (and pricey looking sets at that). I told him I had one jacked from me and needed a replacement and he said he'd check in their storage for me to see if they had anything.
He found me a great used wheel and sold it to me at a great price.
THIS IS NOT A USED BIKE OR PARTS STORE! I'm telling you this to illustrate the guys there took time out of their day to help me find something that they don't normally offer.
Thanks MOX for the great service. I'll be by for that swank track bike one of these days. -

The short and sweet of it is this is one of the best triathlon stores in the city. I've been to all of them, and although others are good too, I'll keep coming back to Mox because of the great service.
And by far the most female-friendly one I've been to in Chicago. It just lacks that testosterone, macho feel that many of the area bike shops and tri stores seem to be infused with.
I was just in looking at wetsuits and Amy could have sold me the top of the line, most expensive suit (which is what I had planned on buying) but she genuinely seemed interested in getting me in a suit that would work best for me, even though it is priced mid-range.
I've also heard the same about the way they sell bikes - they won't try and oversell you, but get you in a bike that is the best for you.
I'm ecstatic to find a store for both beginner and serious athletes minus the serious attitude.
Yay Mox!! -

I posted this under the old name but it was actually with new ownership...so here you go. same crooks diff name
have riding bikes for quite some time and I have used several local bike shops. I also compete in triathlons and have bought countless items from this store(spent lots of $$$). I should have realized years ago that something was different with this shop when a salesman tried to fit me to a bike that was on-sale but not the right fit for me. I had been warned by friends who race for local teams, not to use this store as well. BUT its under new ownership as of recent....SO....
Well, I reccomended to a friend to have a mechanic at Mission Bay look over and give advice about a used bike he was about to buy. The mechanic threw a fit about the fact that he wasn't buying a new bike from his shop. By "fit" I mean he was whinning and throwing his hands in the air talking about how we were taking away from his business. Now that being said, I was in there with my friend to look/purch a new set of wheels (roughly $1500) and the used bike needed new components(roughly $1000) yet this guy was so mad that he was asked to look over a used bike that he lost ALL of our business. This sort of business is all that is wrong with this store. I have never been treated like this in any SERVICE/SALES environment. I would stay away from this store at all costs and my opinion has been reinforced yet again EVEN under new management.Comment from Amy C. of Mox Multisports 5/3/2009

I've been in here a few times over the past few weeks for some new pedals and shoes and I've been very happy with my experience. The staff really takes the time to answer all your questions and doesn't pressure you into anything. I found an amazing clearance deal for some shoes and came back later to get the cleats fitted to my pedals. They even went well past closing time to adjust my shoes for me. Very knowledgeable staff and have pretty much anything you need from normal bike riding to doing tri's. Glad I found it!

4ever n'love!
great bikes, good customer service and products, staff is refreshingly friendly & helpful, and even point you in the right direction if they r'n't able to take care of you. unlike most LBS's (can I do that? add the 's?) who go out their way to project the common image or perception of the "kind of people who work in bike shops" attitude, namely rude and uninterested unless you come in already knowing what you want and speak the right lingo...lets just leave that to another review... the guys and gal (I've only seen one, maybe more) here at MOX are DA BOMB! I've been a customer since April... spent shopping around Chicago and surrounding areas and was at the point that I was going to head out to Ohio, Colorado, and San D'ago (spelling?!) when an non cyclist coworker suggested I try them... he said he run into them outside from time to time and they were cool.. so I did and I've yet to step inside another LBS(besides http://Nashbar.com) since. if your looking or are into the sport or just for fitness and recreation, stop being steered wrong and come on into Mox's... they are not in the business of trying to make a sale only, they actually care about their customers... even if all you want is some chain oil and GU... vanilla bean, yum! they will fit you on a bike according to your needs or spec's you're searching for... and they will even allow you to haggle with them once in a while... it's still a business you know. so stop killing the earth n sky and the air I breathe and head down to MOX.. save the cheerleader save the world... no wait buy a cog and stop the smog! yes I know... I'm slaying ya...HA! -

MOX Multisport has restored my faith in humanity. I am not an advanced rider. In fact, I'm not even an intermediate rider. I'm a beginner who just needed something basic to get me to and from work, and initially I was apprehensive about going to a higher end bike shop, but after my experience working with Jacob and Troy, I have absolutely no regrets and will recommend this shop to every person I know in need of a bike or bike accessories from this point forward. The shop is beautiful, clean, and organized and they have an excellent selection. Even though I was only buying a lower end Jamis Beatnik, Jacob and Troy were incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and didn't make me feel like I was an idiot or wasting their time. In fact, I had such an amazing experience that my boyfriend ended up buying himself a Jamis Sputnik while we were there. We paid a very fair price for the two bikes and even though I live in Logan Square and there are many bike shops around me, I will gladly ride past them and downtown to MOX whenever I have any future bike needs and I suggest that you do the same.

$82.50 for a basic tuneup (gears, brakes, drive clean, wheel true) including fizik bar tape and install. FINALLY a bike shop in Chicago that isn't a complete ripoff. Friendly staff clearly passionate about bikes. This shop has truly top shelf bikes too; if you bring your sub $4k carbon bike in for service you're definitely going to leave feeling motivated to save the $ for the next level.

I was on my way to several other bike shops to price & fit several handlebar options.
I've driven past this shop scores of times in the past and have always wanted to check them out (great curb appeal). I've even recommended to a friend to check them out in the past.
I thought that today would be the perfect day to check MOX out...it being a lazy Sunday afternoon and all.
I walked in. No staff up front, no greeting, although the staff looked towards the entrance seeing me.
I could hear several staffers gossiping like highschool girls in the mechanics area (back of store).
I walked to the back to see if they carried bars & other parts. No one greeted me there either. A staff of 4 continued talking about 'hooking up' with a girl the night before (including an older female staff member). Eventually a staffer pulled themselves away from the in depth convo, giving me a cold 'need some help?'.
I explained that I was looking for vintage styled city bars. 1 staffer barked '...you mean mustache bars?'. I replied 'similar'. He said 'well, you won't find them here'. Not explaining to me that they where a specialty store.
On my way out, I noticed that several parked bikes (that I presume to be belong to staffers, as there were no work tickets attached) had bars that clearly were not 'triathlon' or 'road race' bars.
These bikes had 1" rise touring & mountain bike bars, like those you'd see on the average fixed-gear enthusiast, velo-styled bikes.
I'm glad that I had such a crappy experience, because I'll never take the extra effort out of my day to spend any cash there.
PS...I knew something was up as I walked in and there was a sign at the top of the stairway the read something like..."don't walk down these stairs with your bike shoes on...YES walk down them in your socks'. -

These guys have always impressed me. They've always answered what ever question I've had about tri bikes and different races.
I will be racing my first Ironman this summer and they couldn't be more helpful. The tips they have given, along with the support is unreal. Recently, I unfortunately crashed my bike on a training ride and had to send the frame out for repairs. These guys know the importance of getting in your long rides and offered me another bike to use until mine is repaired. I'm not saying everyone can go borrow a bike if they crash. I'm saying they go out of their way for the customers. Thanks Mox! -

I have shopped at many bike shops in the chicagoland area and can say this shop has the customers in its best interest. The service fees are reasonable for bike maintenance and are willing to work with the customer on bike specs and price.
They did not try to sell me a specific bike, they tried to find the bike that would best fit me and my budget.
If you are in the area I have seen info about Cyclocross practice on Wednesday nights too leaving out of the shop. -
