So...disclaimer. I used to be the Marketing and Communication Coordinator for its Recreation department. That being said, I am no longer on its payroll. So there. Disclaimer over.

What I miss about this spot is the family and community. But what I really. Really. Really miss is having a playground in my backyard. A place where I could play squash at lunch, or basketball, or go for a run, or even swim some laps. A spot where I could walk down some stairs, swipe my card, change and go for TRX, Olympic lifting, or even run some laps.

I don't have that here now. Gym is small. Cramped. Very clean. Very sterile. Recreation is a value in its inexpensive memberships - even cheaper if you have family that lives with you - in its incredible facilities and overall value in what it has to offer.

Need a membership? Looking to break out of a rut? Hire a personal trainer. Learn the TRX ropes. Go. Get fit. Get it done at Mount Royal University Recreation. And if you can yelp about some good fitness centres here - 2110 Fitness is next on my list - then by all means Yelp at me.

I'm really impressed with how neat the classrooms are. The continuing education building definitely feels new. The bathrooms have all automatic everything, and more importantly, working automatic everything.

The classrooms have good layouts, and it has a really smal high school feel. After attending the university of Alberta, where every 10 minute break between classes was actually required to get from class to the next, going to class here is a nice luxury. The class sizes also seem a lot smaller than your average university, which is a more engaging environment than being one in 400.

    I have two major complaints:

    1. What the heck is wrong with the water fountains here? They either don't work, require some sort of prompt which I haven't figured out yet (I put my hands all around the silver box until water starts coming out, but haven't figured out what actually causes it to come out), or it suffers from severely low water pressure so you almost have to suck it like a water bottle which feels super unsanitary.

    2. The parking payment system is like an insult to modern technology. If you don't bring your print out of a receipt to the exit you get stuck there and you can't pay on exit. It takes 4-5 tries to try and get the payment machine to accept your parking stub and then another 4-5 times to try and get your credit card accepted. Then the receipt prints slow. And it returns your parking stub slow. It's a crappy process. But the parkade is nice.

I think it'd be a great place to get a degree.

I just graduated in the Business Administration program and I am extremely happy that I chose MRU. I had courses that needed to be transferred and had no issues there (although I heard it's more difficult now) and the scheduling and advising process through the past three years was wonderful! I have had friends in Science and English though who did not have the same experience I did.

The small class sizes make group projects easier, asking questions easier, and communicating/connecting with teachers and other students easier as well. I just hope Mount Royal sticks to this as a University. Most of the teachers I have had are passionate about teaching, and the subjects they teach which makes learning better. The campus is a beautiful area. Their food areas have a great selection, although sometimes seating is scarce. Their gym facility is also top notch!

The cons: I live in the south and transit isn't always the most reliable. Parking can be difficult at times. When you're new the main building can be confusing since the hall lettering isn't in any particular order. Also there could be more group and quiet study areas.

If Mount Royal offers the program that you are interested in, go for it! You wont regret it.

I have attended three different colleges over the course of my post-secondary career. Mount Royal takes the cake!

I have been at Mount Royal for all four years of my degree program and am wholly satisfied with class sizes (most classes are capped at 35 students), professor involvement and care, and general focus on education. Since becoming a university last year, it is clear that Mount Royal plans to continue with a student-learning focus as opposed to the classic research focus, which means a "win" for students.

    I'm a proud Mount Royal almost-grad!

I got my Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship and I'm glad I picked MRC.  Their small class sizes makes for a great learning experience.  You get to know your instructors and they get to know you on a first name basis.  The directed field studies are a great way to get hands on experience before fully diving into the real world.

With the small class sizes, there seems to be a sense of comradely that builds between the students as the degree progresses.  Everyone tries to help everyone else where they can even on those projects like "Mike's Bikes" where you're competing against each other for that A.

I graduated from Mount Royal College with a bachelor in journalism. Mount Royal is probably the best educational facility I've ever attended (and I've been to my share of expensive private institutions of exceptional quality). Sure, I'm completely against government sponsored education and education through State means and through taxation.

But Mount Royal offers an education that is amplified through diversity, appreciation of art, a strong attention to language, their hands-on Directed Field Studies programs, and the overall positive experience of being a part of something so profound.

I've heard and seen a lot in my day. I've made plenty of poor decisions. But attending MRC is definitely not one of them.

Great University, with a very nice campus.  Its location is great, with proximity to Downtown Calgary and easy transit access.  They are making large expansions to the campus, with a large parkade and new centres at the south east corner.
