OH MY GOD... coming here by accident was definitely not a bad thing. this is by far one of the best places ive ever eaten
so i had a date night with the boyfriend last night and we were trying to make our way to oceanaire. since parking was difficult we ended up parking in the lot next to mortons. once we started walking, mortons was closer and we were lazy so we decided to go there instead. walking up, the valet turned out to be cheaper than the lot we had just parked in... it was a shame that we missed that but its alright i guess.
it was beautiful and classy once you walk through the door, and we were seated right away. their service is unbelievably great. some stuffy places treat you like garbage if they dont think you have deep pockets but this definitely wasnt one of them. they gave the two of us a booth and i was amazed when the host moved the entire table for us to sit down so we wouldnt have to shimmy in. :] it was surprisingly polite.
anytime we needed help anyone walking by would come and bring us water or take our order, take our empty plates or even bring us condiments, and we were NEVER ignored by anyone.
we shared a salad, the porterhouse medium well and a baked potato.. their steak was soft and tender, perfectly seasoned, and warm. the best steak i've ever had.. they were really helpful when it came to choosing my wine... by the end i was so full but dessert looked so good! we wanted it to go...
so i asked for the creme brulee... but it was made in a ceramic dish that he wasn't sure if he could pack for me togo. the server OK'd it with his manager and they just gave me the whole dish :] neatly packaged with raspberries and all
i loved my entire experience here. the prices are steep, but the feeling you get from amazing customer service, i just wanted to tip them 40% of my bill!
definately a great place for a special night. -

Come for the happy hour!
Don't waste your time on the filet mignon sandwiches (gummy Hawaiian bread hugging some decent steak) or crab cake BLT's (salty, passable). Head straight for the three prime cheeseburgers. The patties are sooooo juicy and delicious when done right. I wish they'd toast the buns up, though.
They make a refreshing mojito as well. -

Morton's will be Morton's !
This is a place were you know you will have a quality steak cooked at the right temperature.
I love the low dimmed lights in the dinning area, I love the happy hour and the locals at the bar, happy hour menu is just unbeatable ( five stars )
No complaints just give it four stars because I have had better steaks elsewhere. -

As for the Morton's I've visited (maybe 8 or 9) I prefer this one to most. Mostly because it's in San Diego. I've eaten here maybe 6-7 times. Gonna have to twist my arm to go back for food. Drinks I go back for happily.
Good Martini's with Blue cheese olives. Mediocre (at best) food for the money. For the prices, this place (Morton's in general) should put out a higher standard of food.
And how boring is the presentation of food. SO tired and 30 years ago. I feel bad for the waitstaff to have to do that for each table. Speaking of the waitstaff, they are the only thing that gives Morton's 3 stars. The service is actually quite good.
Food 2 stars
Service 4 stars
Bartenders here are pretty good also, and there is usually a cute lady or two working here to take your mind off the pedestrian food.
Wine list: Downright felonious. I'll stick with the booze, thank you. -

Morton's...I LOVE MORTON'S!!
Best steak in San Diego. Good quality for what you're pay for. I love ordering the Porterhouse. You get the best of both worlds. The bone-in filet mignon is great as well. It better be if you could only get 2 from every cow! They know how to cook a steak to your liking. We've never had ours over done or under cooked. It was always perfect.
I love how they have a visual menu of their meats. The waiters are great at explaining everything. The restaurant has a great atmosphere.
This is my and my boyfriend's go to spot for steak. We will definitely be coming back. -

Best steak I've ever had!
The bf surprised me with a bday dinner here and I was impressed. When we checked in, staff greeted me "Happy Birthday" and seated us right away. The menu they handed us was even personalized to wish me a happy birthday. They were so accomodating and even took a picture of us, which was inserted into a birthday card signed by all their staff.
The restaurant is dark and full of booths and tables. Kinda romantic. As far as the food went...I didn't care so much for the onion bread they started you off with, but did enjoy the rest of the meal. We ordered the NY steak and Ribeye steak with sides of mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach and mushrooms. All were delicious. I especially liked the seared crust on the steak, which I haven't had anywhere else, and they were well seasoned. Our meal ended with a complimentary birthday dessert: their Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake. I will definitely be back. -

The food and service were excellent. My husband and I came for restaurant week. We weren't treated differently for spending less and our server Heather always had a smile on her face. She was kind and helpful with drink selections.
My husbands' steak was cooked to his liking but mine however was a bit redder than I wanted. The asparagus with hollandaise was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. The potato skins were crispy and the fixings came separately which is good for anyone who is picky. His mousse was very chocolatey. And my key lime pie is the best key lime pie I have ever had!
Managers came around and checked on us and the restaurant itself was magnificent. Cannot wait to go back! -

First let me say that I LOVE Morton's. If you were to ask me where to go for a GREAT steak dinner, it would be the first place outta my mouth.
Alas...
When I visited the San Diego location a few weeks ago I was highly disappointed. Actually, disappointed may not even do credit to how I felt about the experience.
I was downright pissed.
Started with the Shrimp Alexander which was overcooked and dry. The beurre blanc sauce was excellent... yet it could not overcome dry, over-baked shrimp. At $20 that is unacceptable. Screw that, at TWO DOLLARS that's unacceptable.
The Scallops were borderline under cooked.
Come on man!
Just slightly under but when they are wrapped in bacon and im forced to eat limp bacon and mushy scallops... I know, YUM!
No thanks.
One filet cooked perfectly. Exquisitely.
They other Mid Rare ordered Cajun RIbeye was essentially blue. Translation: Very rare. Cold in the center.
I sent it back
10 minutes later it returned... on the same plate... not even another ladle of au jus over the top. And it was over cooked.
Sweet.
Mid well... at best.
I mean come on Morton's. I know you just got bought out by LANDRY'S but show a little pride in your area.
At this point I just ordered a filet... which i did not want, but was not willing to "roll the dice" again.
When it came out it was expertly prepared, but that's not the point. My companions had already well completed their dinners and were forced to just wait for me.
Desserts were very good. Upside-down apple pie - Fantastic
Lemon Souffle with Sabayon (i could eat w/ a spoon)
However, that isnt the point either.
You go to Morton's for an experience. Not just great food. I can great food at a food truck for $6 bucks and 10 minutes of my time.
My TWO HOUR experience at Mortons that night was a joke. Beyond that. And although they comped MY steak... that was LITERALLY the least they could do.
A restaurant that holds themselves in such high esteem should do better.
Nay, they should be freakin ashamed of themselves.
Boo.

RIP Mortons!!! I need to start following Landry's acquisitions so I know what restaurants to avoid in the future. This is the 2nd group of restaurants that Landry's has ruined, the first being The Oceanaire seafood room which I used love. It was overpriced, steaks were over cooked, my friends steak was medium well not medium rare. I will never go to Mortons again.

My husband and I spent our anniversary dinner at Morton's and everything was 5 stars even down to the chocolate mousse cake.
The filet mignon and ribeye were juicy and delicious as well as the baked potato and asparagus. We enjoyed wine and beer along with our dinner.
I highly recommend Morton's to anyone that is looking for a romantic evening for just the two of you. Cameron was an excellent server too! -
Review from Shaye G.
Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary here a couple weeks ago - we had not been to Morton's since BEFORE we got married, so it had been awhile. Obviously, the food left a lasting impression. Upon making reservations online, I noted that we were in fact celebrating our anniversary and boy did Morton's take that little piece of info and make our evening a very special one. : )
When we checked in and gave our name, they greeted us immediately "Happy Anniversary". When we were seated, we noticed that our menus were customized with our names and our special occasion - NICE TOUCH! Every person who came to our table greeted us Happy Anniversary - it was awesome. And it's always nice when you have a wonderful server. Ours was Kevin - so friendly and attentive! Nikki, another employee at Morton's, offered to take our picture with our camera as well as her own camera...we were kind of confused but when she came back with our photo framed, we thought it was the perfect souvenir of our special night. I don't see a lot of restaurants do this kind of thing, but I absolutely loved and appreciated it. On top of our amazingly delicious dinner (I got the ribeye and Hubby got the porter, while we shared asparagus and garlic mashed), Morton's treated us to a lava cake for dessert.
This is a perfect example of great customer service and a wonderful dining experience. Keep doing what you're doing, Morton's! And thank you for making our anniversary one to remember. It's all in the little details. We loved it! -

Here for restaurant week.
The ambience was nice and service excellent. The only thing to pick on would be the high prices and sad morton's salad. The filet mignon at least was very tasty and was a good portion. I mean, it was good overall, but for the price range I was hoping the food would be spectacular and it just didn't meet my expectations... -

San Diego, CA
I am an ex New Yorker ok I'm jaded I admit it.
I've seen many of our nation's greatest steakhouses in their glory.
For years I considered Morton's a overpriced quality upscale dining establishment
Frequently not as good as the giants like Peter Luger in Brooklyn New York,Wolfgangs on Park ave in New York,Smith & Wollensky and others
However I live in San Diego now and Morton's does a mighty fine job overall running over many of the local big name steak joints. Not in the service dept but in delivering the goods overall with a good experience. When Mortons hits its mark which is some of the time it has few peers to its credit.
There are no welfare cases in this dining room. You pay a steep price to dine here
On recent Saturday night visit service missed beats numerous times because of slightly poor coverage in team work.I could see that my server was a highly polished professional and I admired his ability to recover from any obstacle that came our way in the end. He was not supported properly and may have had one or two tables too many based on overall team support.
So in the end when one is spending between 500 and 600 dollars for a single dinner service needs to be better on the whole.Ok lets talk about food here the main event.
Warm hot onion bread delights all at the table to start with delicious butter sadly the butter is sometimes solid cold/ frozen that is delivered. Small strike
Appetizers
Scallops wrapped in bacon 5 out of 5 stars excellent (yes I have had better)
The shrimp cocktail 4 large huge shrimp that were only fair in taste and texture not up to par and certainly better than some others
Crab cakes satisfactory (Oceanaire better)
The Morton salad ugh to the anchovy flavor otherwise fair its really similar to the Ceaser yet still better IMO.
The Caeser salad to heavy on the anchovy and the salad is to chopped like a cafeteria some may cheer but in this upscale establishment they would be wise to revise a number of their salads system wide in preparation.
Steaks
Filet Mignon all smiles here very good to excellent
Prime Rib of Beef bone in (served only weekends)
Simply the most astonishing thing this restaurant does/This is the perfect rendition of a classic American institution done brilliantly. If you are a Prime Rib lover this is the real deal
Where most others fail Morton soars to the highest levels of red meat perfection
Side dishes
Macaroni and cheese (nice highly staisfactory rendition but not the creamiest either)
Baked potato satisfactory large and not special
Brussel Sprouts above average but not outstanding
Desserts
Not impressed somewhat commercial showing off size than exceptional quality
The Crème Brule was good but a bit too watery in texture for my tastes
Very hit or miss
Mortons is caught in a slight time warp and in dire need of some tweaking of its menu
None the less it remains a must go for the items it excels at
Prime Rib is a legend here and competes with some of the finest in our nation
If you choose wisely here a night out can be very memorable albeit a much lighter wallet when walking out the door .All smiles in the end as we were stuffed and the there were enough standouts to keep the lions share of our party content and happy/willing to return -
Review from Mike C.
We made the right choice in picking Morton's over Flemings for dinner. We didnt have any reservations but there were plenty of seating at the bar. They do have happy hour but it doesn't apply on Saturdays...waht waht. Oh well.
So me and Jojo C. took advantage of their dinner for 2 for $109. With the upgrades and the beers we hammered through, it came out to just under $200...not bad for a steak place.
You get a choice of salad and I went with their Ceasar. It's a great starter. Nice, chilled and they even gave me some more dressing too. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
For the dinner for 2 special, each person is entitled to a filet mignon and a seafood dish. But I upgraded the filet to a porter house, medium rare and complimented that with 3 pieces of bacon wrapped scallops. Pretty damn fatty! Nice juicy steak. Cooked to my liking. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
The special also comes with 2 sides. So we chose the asparagus http://www.yelp.com/bi... and spinach with mushrooms http://www.yelp.com/bi.... Seriously for this price, you get a lot of food. But we were not done yet. We also get our own dessert too. I chose the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. http://www.yelp.com/bi... Great dessert and a great way to finish the evening. The service was great. I asked for a bag of old wine corks and the bartender dude managed to get me some.
I would definitely come back, hang out at the bar, watch some tv, have some brews throughout the night and get some more of that chocolate lava cake with ice cream.Listed in: Happy Endings, FUPA approved, Free Corks

Review from Vicki L.
When you're a vegetarian (okay, technically, a pescetarian) traveling with a group, you kind of have to make sacrifices. One of those sacrifices sometimes, is ending up at a steak house. I don't like to be difficult though, and generally find I can concoct a meal out of side dishes, so I was more than happy to accomodate my companions and dine here.
Firstly, Morton's gets an A+++ for actually seating us at 11pm on a Saturday (it's a sordid story about why/how we ended up being so late, so I'll save it for another time) and demo'ing their menu with all the bells and whistles. Our server from beginning to end, was fantastic.
I ordered the sauteed spinach with button mushrooms, and the salad w/ anchovies (again, pescetarian, but it's easier to just say I don't eat things with fur or feet). When the salad arrived, I was a bit disappointed that there were only two skimpy anchovies on top (they were so small I actually ate both without even noticing), but I will say that the greens were very, very fresh (especially for 11:30pm when the kitchen presumably had already closed and re-opened to serve us!).
The sauteed spinach and button mushrooms started off good ... until I fished out what appeared to be a slice of well-done steak (like a small chunk that was shaved off of a filet). The waiter came over and immediately removed the meat for me after I informed him, but I insisted it wasn't too big of a deal and didn't want to fuss too much about it (honestly I wasn't looking to get anything on the house, I just wanted to inform him that it appeared to have been mixed up while being cooked).
Everything was hunky-dorey, until the maitre d' came out and said, almost condescendingly, "So, a potato in your spinach and mushrooms I see ..." I smiled and shrugged, saying "Actually, it appeared to be a piece of overcooked meat." He immediately responded with, "No, we checked, it was a potato."
At this point I didn't really want to argue or cause a scene so I just smiled and said "Well, I think it was meat, but whatever, no big deal." He apologized and walked away, and we went on with our meal.
Based on the comments from my companions, the rest of the food was good, if only a bit rich. Near the end of dinner service, the maitre d' returned and offered a dessert selection on the house to apologize for the mishap. Now, I insisted that this wasn't necessary but he persisted, so we selected the creme brulee and I also took a cup of black coffee (which was quite good!).
The creme brulee was probably my favourite part of the meal (though I've been known to favour desserts), with a nice creamy consistency and a decent caramel top to crack (cracking the top is a bit like a ritual for me, so this is critical!).
Overall, Morton's gets 5 stars for exceptional service, but I felt that the food itself wasn't anything special or remarkable. It's perfectly fine for a nice dinner to dress up, but I'm sure there are other places around the area that have a bit more local personality to them. I wouldn't say no to returning, but it's not a destination spot for me. -

Seamed cheap.
Went there with a couple friends for happy hour and we all were not impressed.
Pretty much all the ingredients of the four things we ordered were all very plain and just seamed like the run of the mill Sysco products.
Non of the meat was grass fed or all natural. -Lame
For those prices you would think it would be.
They left the ingredients off of one of our dishes and brought the two ingredients out later, separately.
Oh and the sliders we ordered were well done not medium as we ordered.
Bacon was tough and seamed like it was old.
The buns they used was the worst part for me. Just plan getting hard bread. It sucked and just made the sliders, crab BLT and Filet sliders terrible.
Sorry Morton's.
Go to The Palm for a better experience and better food. -

I have been here so many times and am never disappointed. I love their steaks (porterhouse, ribeye, once a filet mignon). They even have this cool off the menu filet mignon dish that is really good. Basically they serve a sliced filet with bread and give you a dipping sauce... mmmmMMMmmm
The sides are always good, oh and the starter chopped salad is excellent too.
Everything you get here will be very fresh and taste great. Of course it is a bit pricey... -

One of my favorite restaurants! The service is impeccable, the food is mouth-watering, the drinks are strong and well-made, and the ambiance is top-notch.

In a recent drunken evening out with friends we found ourselves at Mortons for a late dinner. Our party was a bit on the loud side and yet the staff was friendly and served us delicious steaks.
We all enjoyed our steaks, they were flavorful and prepared correct as we ordered. I'm a fan! -

Do you really need to read another review about Morton's? Quite the classic steakhouse and it never disappoints me. My favorite is the bone in rib eye and getting to see your dry age meat presented to you before its cooked is pretty cool too.

Ate here last night with some friends as a going-away send off for their 3 years in London. My recommendation: Get anything with red meat in it. Skip the fishies - they're mediocre at best, but that's not what they're good for anyway, right? We ordered two of almost the entire bar menu, which ended up running about $130 with the happy hour pricing after 9:00.
The chips are new on the menu, made fresh, and served with a bleu cheese dip. Quite tasty. Nothing compares to the red meat though. It's like listening to Eye Of The Tiger while you're working out; it's fitting, motivating and can never be repeated too many times. Next time I go, I'll just tell the waiter "MEAT ME." -

Amazing beef! Awesome Service!
I went with my girlfriend on my birthday this year and even the menu wished me a happy birthday! (It was printed under the Morton's emblem on the menu!)
The meat was delicious, succulent, tender and definitely the star of the meal. Coupled with the garlic mashed potatoes and the steamed asparagus with hollandaise sauce, the meal was amazing!
We paired the meal with a perfect cabernet that truly brought the meal together.
The environment is classy, but comfortable and not pretentious.
The waitress's, servers and sommelier were great and we were superbly taken care of. At the end of the meal I received a free birthday picture and molten chocolate lava cake for my birthday.
The only reason I don't give Morton's a Five-star review is the price... Expensive restaurant, but you get an out of this world bang for your buck. -

We were afraid that since we were using a discount dinning certificate that we may be treated badly ... but not the case at all! It was an awesome experience! I loved the wedge salad with 1,000 islands and bacon goodness all over. I upgraded to the double cut filet, however, in hindsight, since I could not eat everything (large portions), the single cut filet (part of the discount certificate) would have been enough. I can't think of anything that did not go right, but if I had to pick something, I would say that it was a bit noisy as there was a lot of chatter going on. But it isn't a library and I'm sure that everyone else was excited about their experience that they just had to talk about it!

Gah! My headline clearly states I don't review chains but I had to make an exception for Morton's.I've heard wonderful things about this place (regardless of location) and all I can say is HOLY YUM!
Like other fine steak houses, the prices are high, the waitstaff is uber-helpful and informative, the atmosphere is upscale and the food is beyond great. Being from Chicago, I know a good steak...even if does usually come from my parent's grill.
I went with the Chicago ribeye and I think I know now what "melt in your mouth" truly means. Yeah, it was just that good. We selected the potato skins, asparagus and brussel sprouts for sides - they're huge and served our table of 5 with no problem. Even the side dishes are great.
While my colleague and I didn't foot the bill on this one, I'm sure it was pretty steep, so it's probably not somewhere I'd frequent, well, frequently. It was mighty tasty though...may just have to change my headline. -

Wow! Love this place! Came here for our anniversary and definitely going back again for another big occassion. Went in blind and definitely surprised us when they pulled the actual table out from the booth to let us sit down. Pretty cool.
Very old fashioned feel and huge cuts of very high quality meat. You're going to pay for the quality, no doubt about it. But definitely worth it.
SUPER good. AWESOME service. Can't wait to go back. -

I've been here three times and my favorite is the porterhouse medium rare. I Love the BREAD!!!!!!the waiter was very kind enough to give me a new bread to take home. The only bad experience was a lady host that walking around to different tables, she wanted to take my bread away. I told her we were still eating and she was unpleasant about it. Every time she passes our table she was unpleasant and made me feel awkward. I didn't get it but the food was great!!! I didn't care for there filet mignon, it was okay. I will recommend the porterhouse! There's valet or park a block at the lot. The valet didn't know how to drive my husband corvette and we had to help him out after 10 minutes of watching him struggle with the clutches. My husband corvette is his pride and joy.

The filet mignon sliders were bomb. Sat in the bar before the game. Valet was only $10 and it's 4 blocks from Petco, so not a bad spot to grind before you watch the Padres lose. I will definitely do this again.
******Note: This place is dressy. Don't be that douche that walks in wearing flip flops and a "I love San Diego" T-Shirt. If you want to be treated like a gentleman, then dress like one. -

I try to make it a point ot go Morton's if they have one in any city I go to. The San Antonio location is by far my favorite and sets the standard for all other Morton's. San Diego is right up there with San Antonio! You can check out my review of the SA restaurant to see exactly how much I love Morton's and what I think you should order. :D
I actually went here twice on my two-week trip, the first time with my mom and sister where we had a regular sit down dinner and the second time by myself for bar bites during their "power" happy hour. Everyone here was very, very friendly - from the hostess and manager that greeted us to the bartenders and our server. The bartenders and manager actually remembered me when I went back, which really made me feel like I was back home again.
The food was exactly the way it should be and we didn't have any waiting time in between courses when I was with my mom and sister. I guess the San Diego restaurant is a "test" location so I was able to try the brussel sprouts side here... they were sooooo good and I hope they go to other locations soon!
If you're looking a exceptionally tasty dinner in a great location with wonderful service and atmosphere, go to Morton's! -

Oh man this place was good. Came here on convention with the big wig treating, we went all out which is really rare these days. You know what; sometimes you just have to do it. The scallops were tender, no sauce needed, salad was awesome just the right amount of dressing. I ordered the New York and it was and maybe the best piece of meat I've ever had. Then came the desert, chocolate suffet. So yummy. Big Boss; "when is the next company retreat?"

Where titans gather for their victory feast. A Mount Olympus of meat. The Colosseum of all steak houses.
Even the smallest filet mignon is too much for a mere mortal to handle. The 40+ ounce Chicago bone in rib eye is fit for a king. A hungry king. Everything here -- from the Musketeer-bar-sized shrimp cocktail to the brick-sized slice of carrot cake -- is jumbo and delicious. Plan on doing nothing for the rest of the evening.
Not as dark and weird as Donovan's - more upscale than Flemings. This definitely feels like a power restaurant befitting an East Coast executive or Al Capone. Celebrities in black and white photos look down on patrons in plush leather booths. Frank Sinatra hums in the background. Classic.
If only one's wallet and waistline could afford to eat here every day.... -

ON POINT: New York Steak, Rib Eye
Happy Birthday to my bro Matt, 27 Years young and tearing *ish up. On that note he picked Morton's Steak House for his Birthday dinner and what a great pick it was.
- Park across the street it's only 7$, valet parking is 10$
- After we were seated it felt like we were waiting a LONG time for a menu. I guess because it was VISUAL. That's right folks, a visual menu showing the different types of meat cuts available.
- Ambiance felt New York style, like a MAFIA movie
- Dress was business casual, seemed like EVERYONE HAD A SUIT ON
- HUGE wine list to choose from
- Dessert was decent (creme brulee), nothing too special
- Some dessert items must be ordered 30 minutes in advance
- It took awhile to get our bill too
*Bone in Rib Eye Steak was really juicy and tender. Every bite melted in your mouth. This is what I expect when coming to an expensive steak house, EXCELLENCE.
*The New York Steak was GIANT and THICK. I'm talking 20oz of juicy thickness. You have to see it to believe it.
Overall a decent experience. Good competition for Donovan's and Ruth's Chris. -

Ah. Man.
There are no words to express how DELICIOUS the steak with bearnaise sauce is and how often to think about it to this day. I've literally been trying to duplicate the sauce at home with no avail. :|. Im going to keep trying.
Took advantage of Mortons as a first date with an individual who chose to flash money instead of intellect, and who am I to judge? :)
Everything I had there was delicious. The French onion soup, the bread, my steak and sides, my drinks, everything.
The bill came out to almost $400.00. No lie. LOL
Whew, I felt sorry for him! -

Way over priced for what you get!!
It started off well, the guy came over and showed us the different cuts of steaks they offered at Morton's.
It took forever for us to get our order in and to get our food.
I ordered the iceberg salad. Which wasn't cut. It took them 25 minutes to bring out an iceberg lettuce cut in half with some Mc Cormicks bacon pieces and some Dijon mustard sauce that taste like Italian? Odd. She said it's a typical steak house salad dish, so I asked her if I could have them cut it..
I got the ribeye. It was bland, what's so special about this place?
They served us cold coffee and were vert slow on service. Very unorganized staff. For the price you pay here, I'd much rather go to Ruth Chris, or Flemings..
