Boston, MA
We have been here once only but we loved it.
The seating is more comfortable and spacious than the Morton near the Prudential. We received excellent service from start to finish. The first waiter was acting a bit pompous (shaking my hand when introducing himself - come on, am I at a steakhouse or an interview? LOL) and a little high-brow but the service was impeccable, prompt and respectful.
We also reserved a prime rib in advance and the request was honored. The meat was excellent and it was prepared perfectly. I also ordered a porterhouse, and the filet mignon portion of it was delicious and cooked to perfection. In fact, it was one of the best I have had in Boston. Steak portions were huge.
We also ordered a salad, which was average. The potato was fleshly and cooked soft. Roasted asparagus was delicious. The lava chocolate cake was good to cap the dining experience.
As for parking, you probably would need valet ($17+) or park at a nearby lot or garage because of the limited on street parking available.
Price is reasonable but on the higher side unless you pick their specials. The meal costed about $90-100/ person (including tips), considering that we ordered the high end steaks and without the alcohol tab. There is sizable leftover.
I highly recommend this steakhouse for the quality and preparation of the steak. You should try it out if you are a steak-lover. -

After hearing so much about this place, I thought I would check it out during restaurant week for lunch. I have to say, I was extremely disappointed.
First, since it was a nice day, we decided to sit outside, the only good thing about this experience. Although it was nice to sit outside, it wasn't as nice to have 18 wheeler after 18 wheeler drive by every 10 seconds to kill the mood. Secondly, the serves was extremely slow. I've heard this on multiple occasions, but since we had told the waiter we were there for a quick lunch, I was hoping they could accommodate.
Finally, the food. It was horrible. I went for the lunch menu, and wanted a ribeye. This is a steakhouse, so I though this was a safe bet. The ribeye was extremely thin, and well done, not med rare as I had asked. Most steakhouses I've been too seem to under cook not over cook, and I couldn't believe how much over cooked this was.
I was so disappointed in this place. -

It was my second or third time going.
For years I was a regular at both of the Mortons in Los Angeles (La Cienega & Downtown), hence I was expecting a certain level of service and food.
I was however, soaringly disappointing with the food. The wine selection is great and in a good price range--but the food is very very bland. The service is excellent!
I had the fish, which was so so bland...even the mango salsa that is accompanied with the dish doesn't help--yes I know I know--I should not be ordering fish at a steak house.
The steak was also very bland and just not up to par with a restaurant of this stature. I just dont know how you can mess up steak so badly?
Its a great place for business, as it will impress clients but for personal meals I would stay clear of this particular location. -

Outstanding, all around. The waiter was extremely attentive, but not in a hovering or obnoxious way. The food was excellent. The one downside is that it's extremely expensive. Plan on about $200 for dinner for two.

Took a friend to Morton's on Saturday for a birthday dinner, I had made reservations in advance mentioning the birthday.. When they called the day before to confirm they asked my friends name. Upon entering and giving the name for the reservation, the hostess said Happy Birthday to my friend. When we were seated the menu's also said Happy Birthday with my friends name on the top..very nice touch. The waiter then came over, he also said Happy Birthday, he then explained that since it was her birthday she would get a complimentary dessert...he believed it was a lemon souffle, but stated "if you don't like that you can certainly choose something else". We had an exceptional dinner, ours steaks were cooked perfectly, and the sides were delicious. Then came dessert, I got the creme brule and since my friend doesn't like lemon she chose the carrot cake. While having dessert the hostess came over and took our picture, a few minutes later she came back and presented the picture to my friend, it was in a folder that looked to be signed by all of the Morton's staff, and was personalized to my friend. Excellent touch. The bill came, I paid, thanked everyone and we left. The next day I was looking at my receipt and I saw that I was charged $12.50 for my friends carrot cake, not that I mind paying but the waiter should have said "if you don't want the lemon souffle, you may order something else at an additional charge." This was the reason for only 4 stars...

I had to plan a last minute goodbye party which also happened to coincide with restaurant week. I was able to work with Dina at the restaurant to make this happen. They were so accommodating even when the numbers of guest changed the day of the party. The service was great. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. All the guests there had a good time and enjoyed their food. For a last minute party I could not have asked for anything more.

Morton's is by far my favorite steakhouse in Boston. This was actually my first time at the Seaport location and definitely did not fail to wow me with their great service and awesome food! The fact that they participate in Restaurant Week is really wonderful because I was able to take my mom here and share the experience with her for half the price but still the same amazing quality that Morton's is known for =) =)

Went there for a birthday and it was great! Staff is super nice and have great attention to details. Food was amazing as you would expect from Morton's. If your a club member they even give you all a free after dinner drink! Just wish they kept the visual menu here and actually showed the steaks and sides as that is always cool. They did show desserts though.
Tables are kind of small though so it can be tough to fit everything like meals sides and drinks on the tables. So you might want to make sure you dont max out the table eg sit at a table for 4 with 4 people. They also don't carry wild salmon or any wild fish so this could be a disappointment for fish people that dont want meat.
Everything else was great though. Look forward to going back! -

The set up of this place is like any other steakhouse, location was great though. I can't think of too many pros either. What stuck out most was that they put way too much dressing on their salad, making it impossible to finish. Also, they are trying too hard to cater to their customers, before placing your order, they wheel a cart of meat over and proceed to explain each cut they have. In a sense, I can see that being helpful, at the same time, it was absolutely unnecessary.
Staff were very friendly, food was mediocre, probably wouldn't go back. -

It was Andi P.'s birthday and we wanted to get the roast pig at Temazcal, but this is not a review about a Temazcal, which wanted us to wait outside while room at the bar opened up (REALLY?). Not to sound like a snot, but I do not line up outside to eat at Temazcal's high price point (I will, however, wait an hour for a $7 hot dog or a $10 porchetta sandwich, but those are for other reviews). The good news is that the recession appears to be over ... or at least it is for MFS and the other douchey financial types packed into Temazcal that night (huzzah, TARP!).
We went across the street to Mortons where we had a fabulous birthday dinner. From the moment I tried to enter through the wrong door and the busser welcomed us in anyway, the folks at Mortons took excellent care of us. We ate at the bar and after I told our server that it was Andi's birthday, the hostess came by and took our picture which they then placed in a birthday card signed by the staff. This was a nice touch.
As some of you may know, Andi eats gluten-free, something that the restaurant handled with aplomb. We started with oysters and then I got the cajun ribeye cooked medium and which had a great char and crust. Andi was pleased with her steak too. The Brussels sprouts and steak fries were also delicious. The desserts were also great. A note about the timing: the entire meal was well-paced, the food arrived in a timely manner but wasn't rushed.
The meal was expensive, but this is a steakhouse and its prices are comparable to others of its ilk.
I think the key to what made this a great meal was the sincerity of the service. Everyone was genuinely nice and made us feel welcome. -

Wow. Wow. WOW.
Let me tell you about my spectacular night at Morton's.
First of all, it's a really great bday spot. They treated us like kings. They printed a special Menu with my brother's name on it. Then, they took a photo of my family, printed it, and put it in a card for us to take home. I have been to hundreds of restaurants and have never seen that done. Great touch. They also brought out the cake (free of charge) and sang a little song for him as well. The service all around was A++
Drinks were all very good. I had a mojito- not the best I've ever had, but still pretty good. Little pricey for such a standard drink - but, it's Morton's so it was to be expected.
Food: They bring you a cart to show you everything that is fresh that night. I mean, it's a little cheesy.. but I liked it nonetheless. Something different. I went with with Double cut Filet Mignon, my brother chose the porter house, and my mom went with the fixed menu (Wedge salad, filet Mignon, lobster tail, and asparagus... and you wonder where my fattie on the loose tag line comes from?) We also ordered mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts with bacon and shallots.
Everything was beyond fantastic. The sides were unreal.. the wedge salad was perfection, the lobster was so friggin good...I couldn't ask for a better meal at a steakhouse. Usually I am always so underwhelmed but not this time.
My one critique was that I asked for my filet medium and it was definitely medium rare if not slightly rare. Now, I'm no steak expert so maybe a double cut filet is different than regular steak since it is so thick.. but, it was definitely not slightly pink in the center. It was dark red. That being said, I loooove steak medium rare (I just didn't want to gross out my mom), so I happily ate it. Worked out for the best :) I'm sure if I were to send it back, it wouldn't have been a problem at all.
I will be back. I am thinking for the man's bday it will be the perfect spot. Bravo, Mortons! -

WOW.
This impromptu visit to Morton's was the result of getting to another Aquarium Lecture with the girlfriend too early. Without a reservation, we entered and asked for a booth for 2. Luckily they had openings since it was just the start of the dinner shift.
We were greeted by the Maitre d' and was shown to our booth. As soon as we sat down, a loaf of bread appeared out of no where. Our server soon came with this 5 minute rundown of the specials. After pulling out a cart of all the fresh cuts/seafood of the day while explaining each cut and the sides, the server while stumbled a bit but he pulled it off very nicely.
We ordered a Tuna Tartare for appetizer. I had Filet Mignon Double Cut with Grilled Jumbo Asparagus while my girlfriend had Chilean Sea Bass with Sauteed Mushrooms and Onions. The Chilean Sea Bass was amazing. Slightly flaky on the outside and amazingly tender and flavorful on the inside. Don't get me started on the Filet Mignon. It was probably the best I've had so far. I had it done Medium Rare and it was done perfectly. The jumbo asparagus was done well, very tender however the sauteed mushroom and onion was just average.
To end the night, we had the Creme Brulee. It was a very nice end to our dining experience.
This place is slightly pricey, we paid 220 for the night including a 20 to the Maitre d' and a 45 dollar tip to the server. But for this kind of service and food, so worth it. -

Unbelievable. Want to be treated like royalty, visit Morton's. This place is amazing. I was with a very large party (25+ people), dealing with this size of a crowd can be difficult and considering a reservation was only made for 10, it was unbelievable how they pulled it together to accommodate our group.
The service is out of this world. Your glass is never empty and if you need anything (I mean anything), ask and you shall receive. The food, wow!, we started with a few appetizers and they were scrumptious. The Colossal Shrimp Alexander, Maine Lobster Cocktail and Broiled Sea Scallops were to die for. For dinner, I went with the crab cakes also -- yum!
Now, we all know this place is expensive but honestly, you get what you pay for. Exceptional service, food that is cooked to perfection and ambiance fit for a king. -

I've visited Morton's before and was very impressed. My experience at this location was awful and will keep me from ever going back to Morton's in Boston again.
My fiancee and I visited this weekend and made 9pm reservations. We arrived at 9pm but weren't seated until 9:40pm. There were no chairs to sit on and we were standing behind others who had been waiting just as long to be seated for their reservation times, as well. There was a couple who came in after us that got tired of waiting and left. When we were finally seated, the service was extremely slow and the kitchen was very backed up. We saw plate after plate come back to the kitchen from while we were waiting to be seated. We also saw patrons getting up from their tables to ask where their food was.
We went in for the steak and seafood special and were surprised to learn that the offering changed from last year. The steaks were now smaller and the seafood portions were smaller (6oz steak instead of the 8oz, 2 scallops instead of 3, 2 shrimp instead of 3, etc). Of course, the price was still the same.
Our water glasses were empty most of the time. Our salads came out quickly, but we were informed that they RAN OUT OF MASHED POTATOES and we had to pick another side dish. How does that happen? Meanwhile, pretty much every table we could see had a manager at it, taking dishes back to the kitchen and comping people deserts, sides, wine, etc. Our entrees were served to us 25 minutes after our salad plates were cleared and a full 1 hour and 45 minutes after our reservation time. My fiancee's steak was overcooked and cool to the touch. Mine wasn't hot either. Her's was charred and burnt on the outside, too. We cut into our steaks and they weren't juicy at all, which is strange for a filet. It was like they had been sitting out and were re-heated. They were literally dry inside and the texture was chewy. We both took one bite and moved on to our scallops, which were small and chewy as well. We both stopped eating at that point because we were exhausted (it was now 11pm) and were very disappointed in our meal quality. The manager came by and told us we didn't have a bill for the evening, so we left a tip and went home.
The last time we visited Morton's was before they were purchased by Landry's restaurant group and the experience, quality, and service has noticeably suffered since then. We used to love Morton's, but we will not be back. -

sorry to all you die-hard Morton VIP's...I really wasn't that impressed...
I went to Morton's last night for my friend's birthday...it was the first time experiencing this establishment...and I think the hype was too big for my expectations...
The staff was very personable...they paid attention to almost every detail...a side we ordered never appeared...and a glass of wine was overlooked...it happens...
Decor isn't bad...but from what I heard I thought it was going to be a little more upscale looking...it was comfortable enough
I got a New York strip...it wasn't quite cooked right...I asked for med/rare...it was closer to medium but not exactly medium if you know what I mean...but that was okay too...it wasn't so far off that I was disappointed or anything...my ceasar salad was nice...dessert some kind of chocolate mousse was nice...
All in all the restaurant wasn't really bad BUT for the price I expected a little more...I think it is too pricey for a chain restaurant...I find the chain steakhouses to be disappointing most of the time...I will have to remember this fact going into another so I my expectations won't be so grand...
I only gave a rating of 2 because Meh! I have experienced better at a much better price...it certainly wasn't horrible...but Meh!
On a super positive note...I tasted their in house key lime pie...it was phenomenal...best I ever tasted...all the way down to the lime zest... -
Review from Craig S.
This was disappointing - The Morton's in Scottsdale is amazing so i was expecting similar quality. My party went in at six thirty starving. We did not get food for another hour. The server shook all of our hands - which was kinda cute and novel, but cheap tricks do not make up for a poor dining experience.
Ordering drinks they were extremely over the top about ID's - one of my friends is 20 about to be 21 in a few months and they would not let him have a glass of wine with dinner - I know its law and all but come on don't be dicks about it.
The whole show you presentation of the menu was entirely unnecessary - another cheap trick ....I want you to want me ... )
The food was all huge - like mutantny huge. The asparagus, the oysters, tomatoes, and potatoes were somewhat scary. I got the oysters which were OK but they were not cut from the bottom of the shell - nit picky I know - but at a place like this I expect the best ... oh and no mignonette sauce Booo. French onion soup was weird and overpowered with rosemary. tuna tartar was acidic and boring.
The "amazing" steaks they had talked up so much and we waited nearly 2 hours for finally arrived and .....fail. My medium rare + was burnt on the outside and well done in the middle. My sisters medium rare was bloody. Really, fancy expensive steakhouse? Can't properly cook a steak? Especially for $48! I can make a better steak at home. I did complain about it and the manager did give me a new one, but it still was not great. The chco lava cake was dry but made with very good ice cream and Belgian chocolate.
oh and we told the staff we were in a hurry to make the 9PM fireworks but we did not get out till 9:15
Really disappointing -
Overall not worth the price -

Morton's Steakhouse has unbelievable food. The steaks are the best in the city. They are cooked to perfection.
The wedge salad is a meal in itself and it might be the best salad in the city. The chocolate molton lava cake is out of control. It is the best thing I had eaten in a while.
I could go on forever about the menu and why it's so great. However, let me tell you why I do not enjoy Morton's.
The service is too much. I don't need my forks rearranged after I finish my salad. And I do not need a butter dish moved to the side of my plate to make the table look more aesthetic. The staff tries to be good about being quiet while all of this rearranging is happening but I know deep down that they are listening to my entire conversation.
Also some of th appetizers are only okay. They try to get a bit too fancy with some of the things they offer like the balsamic asparagus. It looks wicked good but it doesn't taste good.
Morton's needs to calm down there service a bit and have the staff lay back a little out of the way and not beside the table so much.
They also need to concentrate on making things taste better than they look.
I would go here any night and get the baked potato and any type of steak though. -

I am extremely disappointed. My boyfriend and I had reservations at Morton's Steakhouse on Boylston St which he made two months ago and we went last night 2/14/2012, and noticed that the Morton's sign was not in front of the address. we knocked on the door and a security guard came out and informed us that we were the 19th couple that have come into night regarding eating at this restaurant. He informed us that the restaurant closed on Feb 1, 2012. He also informed us that the other 19 couples never received notification from Morton's regarding the closing of the restaurant.
It was Valentines Day yesterday and all of the other restaurants had nothing available. We already had our car parked in the parking lot which costs us $16.00. The security guard informed us to contact Morton's (Seaport). I called and the girl on the line informed us she could get us right in. We had to pay again for another parking garage which was a complete waste of money and when arrived, the lady informed us that we should have received a call back regarding reservations being cancelled because of Morton's closing on Boylston street, in which we explained to her that no one ever called us and confirmed with her the correct numbers we had for the reservations and other couples in line also confirmed to the lady that they never received back. I found this to be so incredibly rude and disrespectful. It was Valentines Day for god sake. It was completely out of line.
Finally after waiting for to be seating after 20 min, when the lady initially said she would get us right in, the food that we received was horrible. I had the shrimp colossal which was completely dried out and the steak was not cooked properly. We were so upset that we paid the bill and left. To spend over $200.00 on food and not be satisfied with the food being so bland and service is not right. I have never had such an unpleasant experience in my life. We were out trying to enjoy ourselves, and had to be stressed out because of having to drive to a completely different location from where our reservations were made, not be told that Morton's CLOSED and have to PAY PARKING TWICE, and then to it off, have NOT GOOD SERVICE OR FOOD IS UNEXCEPTABLE.
I have never been to Morton's before and was looking forward to the service and FOOD and this was horrible. I have been to several other steakhouses including, Capital Grill, Del Frisco's, Abe and Louie's, The Palm, and Smith & Wollensky and never experienced anything like this before with the food and service. I will make sure to let my friends and other people know about how disorganized this restaurant was, and to not be contacting when we had reservations, it being VALENTINES DAY of restaurant closing is completely out of line.
We should have been compensated for our meal last night or at least reimbursed for spending money twice on parking and food not being good. -

I was there for restaurant week and I have to say, it was an amazing deal. The filet was so tender I didn't even need a knife. The sides were amazing and the dessert was delicious. 5 stars all the way! Oh, and we got a filet, salad, sides, and dessert all for less than the regular price of the filet.

Such a mediocre dining experience...the prices are insanely high, especially considering you could go to a much much more unique place in say the south end and get a MUCH tastier and delicious meal for MUCH less money. Overall the food was okay, the highlight being the oysters, they were delicious, even though they didn't serve them with mignonette sauce. The steak itself doesn't seem to be the greatest quality, although my husband's was cooked fairly well (although on the done side) there was very little flavor, pretty uninspiring. My sea bass was so tasteless and had a weird crunchy exterior, it was difficult to eat. My husband ended up saying something to the manager when he asked us about our meals, and they took my fish off the bill and comped us a dessert, which was a nice gesture.
On top of the mediocre food It's just not a very inventive place, and I think maybe that attracts a certain type of patron? It reminded me of an upscale 99 restaurant. Capital Grille or Grill 23 are much better options if you're looking for a traditional meal and classy dinning experience. -

went to mortons for lunch/ restaurant week. slowwww service, 2x over cooked prime rib, tasteless mashed potatoes and boring salad. I think they forgot the blue cheese and boiled egg that was supposed to be on it. On a beautiful Wed afternoon during restaurant week you would think they'd have enough staff. Shame on management!!!!

The steak wasn't memorable, but the bill was!
We went here for our 8 year anniversary. Our friends suggested this restaurant because they treat you super special for your anniversary. When I reserved the table, I mentioned to the hostess that it was our anniversary, but we didnt get any special treatment. It doesnt bother me as long as my $50 steak is good.
Unfortunately it wasn't good. My steak lacks so much flavor and was kind of dry. They also overcooked my wife's steak. She couldn't get it refired because she got the last piece of meat. Overall, this was very disappointing. the only good thing was the service. Save your money and go to Capital Grille or Burtons Grille. -

I was craving for a savory steak and Morton's was just a step away from the hotel. Went here for a business dinner.
The food is what I would expect from a steakhouse but the steak didn't WOW me like Peter Lugar's or Wolfgang. What I remember was this server who comes out serving very proudly these pieces of steak and then I ask, do you have peppercorn sauce... and he said we do but it will be $6 with EMPHASIS. Okay, it's expensive but it's on a business account, so why not. So, when the peppercorn sauce arrives at the table, we all said we got to try the $6 sauce. Taste-wise of the sauce, it was fine but I get a kick that he said it's a $6 sauce. -

Friends and I were headed over to the Extreme Sailing Event across the street. So it happened to be a restaurant of convenience since it was a few steps away. I've had friends who have dined at Morton's before (at other locations) and raved about their food and service.
We arrived at about 7pm, got seated at the outside patio almost immediately, which was the ONLY highlight of our dining experience. Once we were seated our waiter offered us the wine and diner menu. I expected him to have a sales pitch about which were favorites or the special of the evening, but no he didn't, instead he simply said "we are out of the prime rib" and gave us a whole 2 minutes to look over the menu. My partner ordered the porter house steak ($56) and I ordered the Chilean Sea bass ($45). Our other two friends ordered the rib eye and a salmon dish. We passed on alcoholic beverages as we had planned on going to Lucky's around the corner where they had live band and planned on getting our drinking on over there.
So, here we are waiting and getting all excited about yummy, delicious food. Well shit an hour must have gone by before 3 of our dishes arrived. The waiter says the salmon dish is on its way and gave our friend his broccoli side order. Who the hell knew "on its way" meant a whole 30 minutes later? What the heck?! How are you going to bring out 3 dishes? You wanted us to eat steak and seafood in front of our friend who was starving and nibbling on his $13 broccoli?! You expected us to wait for him to get his main dish while ours got cold? That was plain bull shit service if you ask me. And to make it worse when it did arrive it looked like a log that had been burning for hours!!! Dude salmon, even grilled, should have some color in it. At this point I felt like we were being punked or had gone into some low end cheap restaurant. But trust me when we received our bill I know we were at Morton's, which I expected anyways... no big deal. Our waiter came by maybe once to ask us if everything was okay. All in the meanwhile I noticed he serviced the other tables around us a whole lot more.
Here's the funny part of the evening. When the waiter came to pick up our plates, including my friends broccoli plate, which I didn't think he was done with since it was still full and his salmon plate hasn't arrived yet. The waiter took it and I said "Sir, I'm not sure my friend is done with that yet". He puts it back down. (The friend had stepped to the mens room). I roll my eyes and say (sarcastically to my other friend) "I swear I don't even feel like leaving tip with everything that has gone wrong thus far". Little did I know my friend, whom never ... ever listens to me.......leaves a 3 cent tip!!!! At first I was pretty mad about it since friends and I have always, always left generous tips. My family owns a restaurant and I've waitressed before. But after thinking about it our waiter really, really, didn't deserve it. he never even apologized about how long the salmon took nor when he took the broccoli plate. And as far as the food goes, it was good but I've been to other places a thousand times better and have paid more.
Here's another funny thing, I happen to have my camera with me. Since I've heard great things about Morton's steaks I decided to record my partner as he took his first bite into his steak. And trust me it wasn't the "Oh my gawd its soo good" look. It was more the shear look of utter disappointment. I will post that on my page later this evening.
Thumbs down for sure and never again (at least this location). I'd love to be able to send the manager there an email about how bad our server was but our server didn't even have a name tag and I forgot to ask. -

Went back here again for a birthday dinner and their service never disappoints! I also ordered the prime ribeye steak this time and it was delicious! Everyone at dinner paired up and did the Morton's Signature Three-Course Menu which left us all more than full. FYI - Someone at the table mentioned Morton's offer free refills for soda while some other steakhouses charge for a 2nd cup.

Similiar to another Yelp-er, Morton's restaurant week was a huge let down.
We were sat a few minutes before our reservation on Friday night, which was great. I figured we would be in an out a bit quicker than I had thought to start our weekend early. I was in for a surprise..
Our server came to us and did a whole meal presentation. She even went to the trouble of showing us what the tomato in the house salad looks like (before it's cut) and a stalk of broccoli. I am pretty sure I have seen those in the grocery store.. but okay. I did not need to see every cut of meat, and the live lobster, either. Gosh, we were here for restaurant week after all!
I guess I understand that Morton's would rather us order off the regular menu, but given that it's restaurant week, at least give us the menus. We had to wait no short of 45 minutes for them to come, after a snippy remark from the server that those can be 'picked up in the front.' What does that even mean?
The server was incredibly slow. Our drinks that we ordered after 45 minutes took another 20 minutes to come and the server said the 'mojito takes a long time to make.' 20 minutes seems like forever to muddle some mint.
Cesear salad was okay, the dressing was overpowering. The filet was not a great cut, it fell apart more like a brisket than a filet. The chocolate mousse was just ok. The food portion of the meal was truly ruined by unattentive, and borderline rude, service.
We like to try fancy restaurants for restaurant week to see if it's worth it for us to go back on a regular night. After this Morton's experience, it clearly is not. Will not be back, ever. -

Worst Steak in Comparison to The other Upscale Steak Houses in Boston... Once a staple in The Bean's Cuisine Scene; is now overrated, over priced, and overall Out-Classed by the Other Steak Houses in Boston!!!

I went there with my boss for a bussiness lunch, our clients were buying. Usually in these situations (no dime coming out my pocket) I go by the $ not the item, and my choice was made in no time, closed the menu and waited for the others. When the waiter came to take the order, they all chose salads and some cheap ass dishes, I was like Oops!! I need to rethink and execute fast, the situation was so awkward, that even a drop of sweat was dripping down the back of my neck, my head was racing 1000Mile a min, then I said to myself, screw them, I am going for it.
When my steak arrived, I was disappointed, I was excpecting a big juicy steak considering the $, but it wasn't. I left hungry :( -

I wanted to give it 3 1/2 stars but Yelp wont let me.
I ate here for the first time since 2002. The first time I ate at Morton's in the back bay I didn't care for it. This time at the Seaport location I enjoyed it.
The steak was great and cooked perfectly. I can't stand when you pay $50 for a steak and it isn't cooked PERFECTLY. The service was great. The chocolate molten dessert (can't remember what it is called) was the best thing of the night. It takes 20 min to cook so order it before you finish your meal. I like that they space out the courses a little bit so your not overstuffed by the time your steak appears. I love making a night of it.
It wasn't the best steak I've had in Boston but it was still very good. For the price i have had a better or same meal at other places such as Ruth Chris or Flemmings.
Now for things I don't like about Mortons. The menu presentation annoys the crap out of me. Menu items wrapped in cellophane and paraded around on lettuce topped platters is not appetizing. I know what a friggen lobster looks like and judging by the decor and price I don't need to see the raw steak to know your meat is quality. Plus the whole presentation takes too much time and makes me feel like I am a moron who doesn't know the difference between a porterhouse and a sirloin.
I hate when there are more than a couple people serving a table. I know they are trying to make sure everybody is taken care of, but I would much rather deal with one or two people directly. When you are dealing with a new person every 5 minutes it can be impersonal and cold. I don't want to have to remember 5 names when enjoying a meal. I don't like people in general so keeping the it to a minimum is better for me. But the wait staff in general were all wonderful.
SIDE NOTE: If you go to restaurant week you are a moron. Restaurant week is for cheap skates who would never visit these restaurants otherwise. You will never get the real experience of these restaurants going to restaurant week. You all come in like it's a special occasion and rarely ever even order a drink or piss off the waitstaff who have to run around all day for people who will never come back for the regular priced meal. I am a former Boston waiter from my college days and I hated restaurant week and all you people who think you are fancy for a day.
Reviewing these restaurants off of restaurant week is like putting tits on a fish. It's seems like a fun idea but it is useless. -

Came in for Restaurant Week, but Morton's has a new diner for life.
Best steak I've had so far in Boston, hands down. Whenever I heard "Morton's" before, it was always associated with being very pricey, but having had a chance to look at their regular menu before eating, it's really not THAT expensive. You're going to pay the same price for steak at Ruth's Chris or the Capital Grille, but Morton's is MUCH better.
If you can make it down to the waterfront location, it's great. I was lucky to go later in the evening on a perfect night, and I had a great experience dining outside. Inside seemed a bit noisy. Either way, go! It's absolutely worth it. -

I've probably had the best experience and best meal ever in my life here at Morton's. One word - Unbelievable.
We made reservations and arrived a bit early so while we waited for our table we grabbed a drink at the bar. I got a Pomegranate martini which is made with passion fruit juice and my boyfriend stuck to Guinness beer. With dinner I tried the Pear Martini, also made with the passion fruit juice, both Martini's were marvelous!
For starters they start you off with an amazingly delicious Onion Bread. Sound different? It is, but it's probably one of the best and freshest breads I've ever had. We had to ask our waitress to take it away because we would have kept eating it if it stayed in-front of us.
For dinner, my boyfriend and I both ordered the Filet Oskar. So tender, flavorful and juicy, it melts in your mouth! We ordered two sides, one the hashbrown potato which was so crispy and yummy, along with the sauteed mini mushrooms which were soooooooooo good! Plenty of food for two. We, (or should I say I) ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs, which they give you 2 large legs, already cut down the middle for easy access with a side of butter and oh my goodness this was also so delicious.
Service was spectacular! Just as we got our drinks from the bar the hostess came to inform us our table was ready, within moments of being seated at our table our waitress came to deliver the warm scrumptious onion bread and see if we were all set with drinks. She came back a little while later with a menu to see if we would like a starter, but we were all set, the bread was enough for us. Then here comes out waitress rolling over a silver cart with all different sized and shaped raw meat. She explains what each meat is and the cut of the meat etc. Amazing presentation she gave! How she remembered all that which great detail, truly, amazing, A+ for her! She was very well educated about the food and drinks which they served. Another great thing about the service was the give you plenty of time and space to eat each meal.
Great hospitality ... Great ambiance ... Incredible food.Listed in: Must Try!

Incredible! I wish I could come here EVERY day. My fiance wanted to take me out for an early birthday dinner. She knows I'm a steak lover, but often disappointed. We saw that yelp rated this quite highly and I know a lot of people at work go here for business meetings. Can't knock the executive tastes while they are on expense accounts, right?
So, we made a reservation online. There's a special: 3 course dinner for two for $99. You'd think the portions would be small, right? Well, find out later.
We get there early and they don't have any tables ready till our reservation time. We hit the bar. We missed the "power hour" specials for food, so we grabbed a few drinks. They splurge on the hard stuff. The drinks were pretty strong. I liked that :) As we were sitting, enjoying our drinks, a guy in a tux hits the bar and looks around. Turns out, he was looking for me, the birthday boy. He takes us to our table. If we didn't like it, he said he'd find another one for us.
Lots of great service here. Bread and water brought immediately. However, there was at least a 20 minute wait between when we got seated, the waitress acknowledged us, and she brought the trolley over. I'd give them 4.5 stars for this, if I could. Ever seen them walk around with a live lobster? My better half was amused.
We went with the dinner for two, special. LOTS of choices. We both got HUGE salads, good sized filets (with no fat), balsamic glazed asparagus, spinach and mushrooms, shrimp, scallops wrapped in bacon with chutney, and 2 chocolate cakes with a gooey hot chocolate center.
Not much time goes by before the salads come. HUMUNGOUS! Who would think at such an expensive restaurant that they'd have huge portions? Next, they bring the entire meal simultaneously. I think they had 3 servers bring it. Impressive and wow. SO MUCH FOOD! Again, good size portions.
TIP: Order your steak medium if you like it medium well. MMM SOO GOOD. The scallops with bacon were pretty large and the chutney was amazing. A little sweet with a spicy, peppery flavor. The bacon was too soft. I prefer it crispy. Shrimp was WAY TOO BUTTERY. Not only do I not like something slathered with butter, but I'm lactose intolerant so I must be careful. I mentioned something and she brought more scallops. She would have left the shrimp for my fiance, but she doesn't do seafood. Great service here! Asparagus (I'm not a huge fan) were good looking and had an amazing tasting glaze. The mushrooms were good, too. Our waitress, a manager, and other people came by to check on us several times. Asked specific things: How is the steak? Was it cooked well? Is the birthday boy enjoying himself? One guy even made a good joke.
The finale (yes a play on words as we were planning to go there for dessert). The chocolate cake. It was warm, but not quite hot. The chocolate center was gooey and every bite was like heaven. I'm not even a cake fan! It came with ice cream, too.
Last, but not least, they took a photo of us to take home. My experience is that the higher end restaurant that you go to, the size of the portions decrease. I fully expected to leave hungry. NO WAY. We left with a huge doggy bag after both of us ate twice as much as we should have. Couldn't stop ya know?
YES OH YES. I'm coming HERE again. Thank G-D they have one of these in Kansas City.
How to get there? We drove and there was street parking. They also have $16 valet. I'm pretty sure the silver line runs by here. A bit of a walk from South Station.Listed in: My favorite Boston area eats

I have always heard about this place, but never went out to try it. In my time in the Boston area, I've generally found a steak house when needed, and they've been so good that I haven't needed to search for more. However, on this particular occasion I was trying, for the sake of an anniversary date with my girlfriend, create an atmosphere outside the midst of Boston (while still being in the city), and making it something new without having to drive or taxi all over town.
This Morton's location was directly across the hotel we were staying in, and as neither of us had been before, I selected this fantastic spot for our dinner night out.
This was a VERY great and perfect choice! It had a very nice and fancy atmosphere, with a great décor, and very inviting. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, not to mention helpful with the menu, specials, and options.
I had a delicious bone in ribeye that was cooked to perfection, just amazing! I couldn't finish it, sadly, but when reheated the next night for dinner it was still just as fantastic! A side of hasbrowns were an okay match, but not fantastic. While they were good, I fill like their taste/texture didn't pair right with the steak, so that was (more or less) a bad selection on my part.
Finally, as other reviews before me have already said, we finished up the night with their hot/molten chocolate cake with a scope of ice cream, per the suggestion of our servers. I'm going to put these servers in my will, because that cake was by far the most delicious desert I've ever had! The chocolate was fantastic without being overly rich, and as usual with chocolate - the ice cream paired perfectly with it.
Dinner, desert, and service were all above and beyond at this location, and I'd be happy to go back again. We were treated amazing... like family... and couldn't have asked for a better night! HIGHLY recommended for anyone else looking for a great night out! -

I went to Morton's last night during Restaurant Week. I don't think I have ever been so let down by a restaurant in my entire adult life. As a frequent restaurant go-er, I usually try to take advantage of Restaurant Week for a taste of some of the more upscale restaurants in Boston. It was a Monday night, known in the restaurant world as typically a pretty slow night. The restaurant was full, but not seeming to be on a wait, and at any given time, there were at least a couple tables that seemed to be open. The decor was upscale, but not nearly as impressive as many of the other upscale restaurants I have been to that are on the same level as Morton's. It seemed...dated. Maybe it was classy when it opened, but I was not impressed in the least.
Long story short, it took 45 minutes for the server to even take our order. The meal was the slowest paced meal I have ever experienced. We kept track of other tables around us with other servers, and there were people around us that were sat around the same time as us who were already onto dessert before we had even been given our salads. We didn't even have the opportunity to order them, let alone be served them!! All together we were there for over TWO hours, to no fault of our own. We knew what we wanted before we even saw the menu, as we had already looked it up online beforehand. Once the food came, the server was a bit more attentive but until then he was practically non existent.
Another downside was that they never offered the Restaurant Week menu. Other high end restaurants I have been to are always very into offering this to guests, as it's a big time in the city and they are aware that most of the people are coming in for this menu. Our server did the entire dinner presentation (Lobster and all) and offered us a couple of other specials, but we had to ASK for the restaurant week menu! He acted almost suprised when we brought it up.
The food was of course wonderful, but with the service being the way that it is, it completely jaded my perspective of the restaurant as a whole. By the end, I was physically exhausted from waiting for so long. I went to dinner with two people who work in the food service industry and have for many, many years, and they were both completely appalled by the service.
I wanted to love it! I really did. Unfortunately, it was a very big letdown. -

Summary- the food and service was terrific, value is questionable.
Morton's is tucked across from the Seaport Hotel, and a short walk from the nearby convention center. I came for dinner on a Monday night around 7pm, and they were able to accommodate my party of 10 without a wait. The decor is pleasant and upscale, and the bar is frequented by the well-to-do locals.
For appetizers, we choose the hot and cold seafood plates which were excellent. The lobster was chilled and tender, very fresh. Their crab cakes were also excellent with a nice consistency and juicy flavor. For an entree, I chose the fillet, which was tender and amazing. Literally every bite melted in my mouth. For dessert, I sampled some of the cheesecake which was sharp and bold,. Compliments as well to the staff, who were attentive and prompt.
es, and I felt that for the money, the food was equally expensive. In the future, I would skip wine and dessert to make it less painful.Listed in: Eat here before you die

Ok so believe it or not in my short 24 years I have not been to a Mortons.. ever! I am very opposed to chain restaurants, especially chain steakhouses. But when invited how could I say no? Well I was certainly put in my place after this meal.
First course: Tuna Tartare: AMAZING. The tuna tasted so fresh it was like they caught it an hour before.. The balsamic sauce and cream sauce with it paired nicely but thy don't give you enough in my opinion.
Next the salad came and it was very plain and ordinary, though Mortons offers their beefsteak tomatoes done a couple ways I opted for the Cesar salad. I'll go for the Tomatoes with Blue cheese next time.
Drinks: Now I am sorry to say my dear yelpers that I was pretty intoxicated but we had the very knowledgeable, very nice and verrry cute Sommolier assist us with pairing wine. The names escape me but the assistance was leaps and bounds better than some restaurants I've been to. If you have a certain price range and you want to leave with some money in your wallet, they will help you find something you will love regardless. The apple martini was also deliciously tart. ( I'm a sucker for appletinis)
Food: I chose the Chicago Rib Eye ( thicker bone in rib eye) and added blue cheese to it. The steak was definitely top notch and extremely tender. Nice job Morton's! They put a almost black crust on all of their steaks that gives it a nice comfort food flavor. I can say that it did also taste greatly of butter and salt, so if you have health concerns ask them to go easy on them. The mashed potatoes were a little too smooth for my liking, but very fresh and delicious. Creamed spinach was probably the best I've ever had and really tasted like food that was made with love, not franchise steak house style. I also had a bite of my friend's shrimp Alexander, which was marvelous and perfectly cooked. Gotta love garlic!
The newness of this restaurant is still evident ( at least in comparison to the other location downtown) The service is impeccable, the food is great and the atmosphere is chic, yet comfortable.

Me: "Last night we had dinner at Morton's. You know, the steak house?"
My mom: "I know Morton's. With the a la carte sides. And expensive."
Me: "Yea, but I guess you pay for the ambiance, and the service, and the quality of the food. They like massage their cows."
My mom: "How was the food?"
Me: "I've had better. Like when you make pizza at home with a big salad."
My mom: "What did you wear?" -

I've never had anything but wonderful meals at Morton's. We sat in the bar area and had a witty and prompt waiter. Everyone enjoyed the visit.
This is where you go for top of the line beef.
