    Fantastic artists.

I needed to get my hair cut for my high school graduation, but I wanted it in a specific style.  Past hair stylists that I went to couldn't achieve the do that I wanted.  One day, my mom went to a store and asked one of the staff where she got her hair cut, because it was the style that I wanted.  She said to go to Moods, so we went.

At first I felt worried because I wasn't sure if the hair stylist would cut my hair just like the staff lady's at the store, but the minute I showed him what I wanted, he got it in a flash.  He even customized it to make it more original to me.  The hair stylists talk to you and make you feel comfortable in the chair, whether you're feeling a bit nervous about the cut, or excited.

Everyone at Mood's is an artist, like the first post said, and everyone is helpful and will help match you up with a style best suited for your face and look.  The salon itself is based in a great part of Yaletown where along the street you'll find cafes, restaurants, drugmarts, retail stores, and so on.  If you have to wait awhile for your appointment, walking around Yaletown will be perfect.  You won't be late for your appointment either, because nothing is too far from Moods.

The waiting area is a bit inconvenient, but the receptionists chat with you and the wait is always worth it because the quality of the finished product is incredible.

The basic hair cut is around $6o, but it's definitely worth it.  Other places can cost even more.  And everyone who styles at Moods is a professional and are involved with traveling the world and styling and cutting professionally.

    Love this place.

I had my hair cut in November 2009 at Moods Hair Salon...

I arrived early to the appointment and my stylist Christopher was more than 20 minutes behind schedule.

I was furnished with a pretty smock, and plied with (free) espresso.  My shampoo experience was augmented by an Adam Sandler-esque (Think: You Don't Mess With The Zohan! - Just kidding!) head massage.  But, it was a decent head massage.  :)

The hair cut itself was sub-par in comparison to many haircuts I've had in the past...

I had to keep telling the stylist to cut more - despite having told him repeatedly how short I wanted my hair, and providing a picture!!!

    Really, I've experienced better.

All of the stylists at Moods are active artists participating in film, print, and runway productions. You may imagine that makes for an overly trendy, expensive, or intimidating environment - it doesn't at all. The clientele seem as diverse as Yaletown can get in age and (apparent) occupation. The stylists work together to keep you from waiting, if your stylist is finishing up a dye job, another will happily speed things up by doing your wash. It's fascinating to watch what's going on behind you in the mirror with so much creativity and precision in motion. Prices are moderate for the location & quality ($62 for a cut that could easily break $100 at other salons near by).

My one complaint is that the waiting area is not very comfortable, but then, like I said, they work together to keep you from having to wait.

(ps they use Bumble & Bumble products)

So impressed...got my hair highlighted here, I"m a brunette and I was terrified it would be brassy. Nope, it looks subtle and natural but bold if that makes sense. Will definitely go back.
