I love Montana's, so this review is probably a little biased. Actually, the hell with it, reviews generally are subjective anyway, so there :P
When I first came to Canada, Montana's was one of the first restaurant chains that blew me away. I was so impressed that, here in this new wonderful country that I'm living in, there are restaurants that bring out moose antlers and sing off-tune melodies when it's your birthday. Granted I may have been easily impressed back then, but in the late nineties this was mind-blowing for a 15-year old kid!
Since that wonderful first experience, I've had the pleasure of returning many times to multiple Montana's locations. I'm happy to report that their standards haven't dropped, and I'm even more pleased to report that THIS is the location which has firmly become my favourite.
Not only is it the closest one to my house (told you I'd be biased), but frankly the quality of the service is here is always top-notch. Granted, we usually come during slightly off-peak hours such as right around 5:30 pm for dinner or 11:30 am or so for lunch, but I can say without a doubt that the servers at this location are without a doubt the best among all Montana's that I've visited. They're always attentive, caring, and I'm aware I'm making them sound like Cathay Pacific flight attendants but they're really great. On my most recent visit, which is during my niece's birthday, the waiter took down all our requests and made any number of modifications as per my family's requests. I recall another time, the server took time to play with my niece when I was settling the bill. These are small touches but they really matter.
And now, on to the food quality. It'll never be mistaken for dine dining, but Montana's food quality is always very good. More specifically, they serve the BEST RIBS that I've ever tasted anywhere, and I'm very picky when it comes to the moistness and tenderness of my ribs. Not in the mood for back ribs? Get their huge beef rib. It's a hidden gem that I found out many people don't know about. If the food doesn't come exactly to your preference, be honest about it and the wait staff will most likely fix it for you. I once had the restaurant manager give me a new batch of perfect ribs just because I told him my ribs were "a little dry, but don't worry about it".
All in all, very highly recommended. My favourite big box restaurant chain, by a country mile.
