The bottom line is that on a hot sunny day, it doesn't get much better than spending a day at this waterpark.  You should know that my friends and I make it a point to drive at least once a year from Ottawa (2 hours each way) to experience MSS.

Mont Saint Sauveur Water Park is a venue situated at the bottom of a ski hill, complete with a chalet, several picnic areas, muskoka chairs, lounging chairs, a bar, restaurant and more.  There are 20 "Activities" many of which are waterslides, but also include wave pools, wading pools, a volleyball court.  Its about 45 minutes north west of Montreal and about 2 hours from Ottawa.

While there are many activities you may enjoy, from a ride perspective there are two key attractions for me:

    1.  The Colorado river raft ride - this is an exhilirating 3 minute two-person descent that is fast, hilly and water-rific.  The best way I can describe it is that you and a friend zoom down a bumpy, twisty-turny, water-filled bobsled run holding onto the sides of a large open raft... one person goes down facing up the hill, one goes down facing down over course.  It is just an amazing run that if you like rides you will want to do it again and again.  Note that there is about a 4-5 minute walk uphill (and mostly upstairs) to get there.

    2. The Grand Cascades - on your own in an inner tube you go down a series of about 15 short slides each time ending up in a small pool.  When you get to each pool you have to get to the exit to go down the slide to the next pool.  Sometimes the current works with you, some times against as you use the ropes along the side of the pool to pull yourself around.  Of course, there are many people on the slide at once so you may find yourself bumping into and/or splashing with your friends or others along the way down.  Great fun.  The ride probably averages 5 to 10 minutes... nice to have a bit longer ride to change up from the Colorado.  Bonus - there is a chair lift to get to the top of the ride.

    Some other comments
    -  Like other amusement parks, lines are much shorter on weekdays and there can definitely be waits on the weekend.  As a guess on the weekend you might wait 30-45 minutes to get on the Colorado but I'm not sure - I really try to go on the weekdays.
    -  Restaurant prices are inflated however you should really just bring your own food in a cooler if possible - this is what most people seem to do.  You can buy liquor, but you can't bring your own into the park.
    -  As a non-amusing story - one time we went to the park and they'd closed it for the day because the weather forecast was bad and the tour groups had cancelled.  Call ahead the morning of the day if the weather looks bad (we got 1/2 price coupons as compensation - insufficient for the 2 hour drive in my view)
    -  Cost of $30 for the day tax included if you buy passes on-line the night before.  There are group rates.
    -  Most rides open at 10.  Try to get there before that to be ready (if you're looking to maximize # of rides).
    -  Bring water shoes if you have them... the walkways made our feet a bit sore this time and it would not kill them to spend a bit of money to improve this, really.  You will not endear yourself to your partner if you wear sport sandals in the Colorado raft.

An amazing water park and clean, beautiful atmosphere! My boyfriend and I went and had a great time. He's not one for water parks. I am big on water parks. This was a good compromise with something for both of us. The setting in the mountains is lovely. You take ski lifts up to a few of the rides and the lines aren't bad. A great way to spend a day while vacationing in Montreal! We would love to go back.
