I haven't been here in over ten years and I've been here twice in the last two weeks! I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it!
It is a bit on the pricey side because it's done by weight and I can eat my weight in food! However, there are lots of choices, great sauces (lots of spicy ones) and unlimited amounts of rice!
It's also neat to watch them cook it right in front of you! You also can't go wrong when you get to choose what is in your meal! A fun place to eat!

Good quality fresh food, but come on now, Mongolian BBQ is not supposed to be in the $20/bowl neighborhood, even if it is in a nicer and far less sketchy place like Mongolie Grill. I'm also not sure what "entertainment" is to be expected from the guys working the grill to the point that they have their own tip jar. All I could see were attempts to fit as many bowls of ingredients onto the thing to accommodate the long line of hungry tourists.
Three stars because it's definitely a good choice both food wise and price wise in Whistler. If we're evaluating solely on the basis of Mongolian BBQ joints: go down to Vancouver and have your pick of eat-all-you can Mongolian BBQ for ~$12.
We went during our visit to the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the place was clean, warm and not crowded (at least when we walked in). The food ingredients were fresh and appetizing. And the service was good.
The only complaint I had was their pricing. They charge $3.99 per 100 grams of food. We non-metric-using Americans didn't really have a good concept on how much 100 grams is, so our bowl quickly exceeded $20. The good thing is they do bring you as much rice as you want.
Avoid the tofu and other heavy items, and you'll be ok.
This is a review response to Deanna R's snarky review based wholly on the sauce nazi and being served a 'frozen' drink that wasn't zero degrees Kelvin.
Mongolie is definitely one of my favorite Mongolian grills and, for me, a must stop when in Whistler. If you haven't had Mongolian before or read any of the other reviews, you get a bowl, head to basically a raw buffet, dump as much or as little as you want in your bowl and then they cook it for you (no, it's not stir fry - that's a completely different style of preparation).
The prices have definitely gone up (and up) since the first time I came to Whistler 8 odd years ago. If you are a big eater, you can easily drop 40 bucks or more here on your entree and then drinks (which are delicious). I'm not a super big eater and easily squeeze under the $20 mark. However, I remember eating here for barely over $10 so the prices have gone up considerably.
However, the ingredients are fresh and while it's not a technical task to prepare the food, it is possible to BBQ poorly. It's not simple and they do a great job of grilling the food for you.
The do need to ditch the sauce nazi, though. I ding them for that and overall value.
Went for xmas dinner as we were visiting and didn't want turkey. It is expensive so be carefully in filling up that bowl! Don't go over half full or you will be paying a ton. Our server was cute and very good, stir fry was tasty, but definitely was not value for the high price. The owner must be laughing though, the 'chefs' require little skill aside from showmanship by tossing their spatulas, they weren't that entertaining.
And the sauce girl, I couldn't really understand her english but found it dumb that we couldn't select our sauces. Heck I'm paying this much do the kitchen prep myself, come on! So overall, I say go once, but wouldn't recommend a 2nd visit.
We come to the Mongolie Grill everytime we're in Whistler. My hubby likes it. I just think it's ok. For starters, they always ask for your drinks (they make great "frozen" cocktails) before you go up and make your food. Ok, this is traditional, but not the best idea, in my opinion, when you have to go wait in line for 20 minutes while they make your food! They should ask what you want and offer to bring it to you after you sit back down. I instigated this and our waiter complied (it should be a no brainer though). So we order a liter of a frozen drink, which sat at the bar for a good 5 minutes while our waiter did something else, and it proceeded to melt up there. I hate alcohol "frozen" drinks that are thawed, it's just nasty. This happens everytime we come here! I don't know why we bother to order them anymore. Always NOT "frozen"!
This leads me to my second complaint, the sauce nazi. There has never been a sauce nazi there before. This time she was working in full-force and would not let me put my own sauces on. Instead, she insisted she knew how much I wanted/needed and sent me on my way. My meal was dry. I should have on insisted on more sauce but I took her word for it when she said that was plenty. This must be a new yet chronic problem because, without asking, the waiter offered us more sauces when we got back to the table. Chili paste and hoisin. I took the chili paste and that helped out my meal.
It's over-priced. They don't have white cabbage (which I think is a staple for stir-fry type food) and they don't have cilantro on their bar, a must have. I've had way better mongolian at every other mongolian place I've ever been to. In my opinion, there is way better food to be had in Whistler.
I really like this place. I have been here three times, twice in my latest visit to Whistler, and I have always left satisfied.
First of all, it is expensive. There is no way around this. The food is about $30 per person, and with drinks, this will get pricey. But I think it is worth it. The smoothies are great, by the way.
And the food is good. You choose your ingredients, put them in a bowl (there are vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp, and lots of other things.) You then add some sauces (they all taste good, I don't think you can actually go wrong here) and then watch them cook it. You then sit back down and eat, drink, and have a good time all round.
So I highly recommend this place. I have had no issues with it.
I had been waiting for a long time to go here, because I had heard so many great things about Mongolie Grill. Finally, the summer arrived and also the half-price special on their meals. I enjoyed talking with the young chef who stir-fried the veggies and sauce I had collected in my silver metal bowl, and it was pretty tasty, as far as stir-fries go.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the decor and didn't feel it was the amazing experience that I had been waiting for. That being said, there was a couple from out of town who had a great time with the experience and even took photos of the chef preparing their food. I think it's a fun experience when you're visiting, and the atmosphere is probably more inviting during the evening.
I love this place! You pick your own veggies, meat and sauce and they cook it for you. It is fun, but can get expensive for what you get. For the cost, you can get a much finer meal, but there is always a wait, so they are definitely doing it right!
One of the few quality restaurants in the village. It's typical mongolian BBQ, where you go through the line and pile up your plate, then at the end, they cook it for you. It's a bit gimmicky, but fun, and cool that you get to pick what and how much you want. The line can get a bit backed up...but it's worth the wait. And they have plaques on the wall honoring those who have piled up the most weight on their plates. Some very pretty insane.
The restaurant itself is bright and inviting. Service was good. They also had really tasty mixed drinks, check out the lychee martini.

I have two viewpoints about this restaurant in Whistler Village.
1) The food is good quality, the staff is friendly, and the chefs are always quite entertaining at the big grill.
2) This business is a license to print money for the owners and is utterly getting away with highway robbery in their setup.
The concept behind this grill is that you pick you own ingredients and you pay for the weight of your meal. The catch is that it doesn't take very long before you're forking over $30-40 for a reasonably sized portion. There's absolutely nothing that Mongolie Grill provides with service or quality of food that makes them worth spending that much on an entree. In Whistler, you can easily spend the same amount on a good dinner of much higher quality. Moreover, I've been to equally tasty Mongolian grills that charge around $12 for all you can eat. In other words, the owners of the Mongolie Grill are making money hand over fist and denying customers any real value to their dining experience. They do occasionally have half off specials during the off-seasons, but even then I still feel entirely ripped off.
This place rocks!! From the moment we walked in for my buddy's bachelor party dinner, we were taken care of. Our group of 7 was sat at a nice central table with just a short 10 minute wait considering it was a Saturday night at 8:00 PM. After piling exaclty 586 grams of fresh proteins and produce into my metalic bowl and juicing it up with the Sea to Sky sauce, I was entertained by the talented team of juggling cooks. The food was prepared very nicely and tasted fantastic (although if it wasn't a good mix, you have nobody to blame but yourself....) We proceeded to share a couple pitchers (pardon, "jugs") of beer and a fun loving fellow Seattlite bought us a round of tequila shots. I even put on a show, doing the infamous Tough Guy Shot, and was deemed legendary by the staff.... Overall, every single person in the establishment was awesome, and that's counting both staff and patrons.

Fun idea. Not bad value if you choose well. Remember not all ingredients go well together. You are charged by weight so lots of sauce equals lots of dollars.
Very expensive but arguably the best asian food you can get in the village. They don't accept reservations so be prepared to wait in line a looong time. They are very good for vegetarians and will even clean up the grill and use special utensils to cook you food - this gets lots of bonus points from me. The wine is nothing to write home about - I think they can do with getting a more expansive wine menu.
