Just up the stairs, next to an advertising TV screen you'll find a divine hostess.  You look at her and you wonder if her exotic good looks have anything to do with Mongollia.

    "Are you from Mongollia?"

'No i'm from here, born and raised.'

Wow.  I would like to be born and raised here with those uncommon good looks.

FIVE Stars for the ravishingly yummy hostess.
    'How about the food?'

    Food?  What food?

Anyone raving about this place clearly has money to burn and will sacrifice cash to be LAZY.  There is nothing special about it.

You fill a bowl with raw chopped veggies - the same ones you can buy and chop yourself for half the price, then some guy moves it around on a hot flat-top grill.  I personally did not find the selection impressive or extensive.  Yes, it will most likely be delicious, but just as delicious as a stir-fry you make at home, FOR HALF THE PRICE.

After reading all the reviews and even the server's warning, I was in such distress over waiting to hear the total as my bowl was being weighed.  They should have a second scale on the food bar for guest use so that we are not in such shock upon handing in our bowl.  That way, we could weigh it ahead of time, and if it was perhaps beyond our budget, we could put some of it back, or weigh as we go.

I also found it inappropriate to see staff members walking up to the food bar to make their staff meals halfway through service.  Really not a good look.

ps:  The wine list is a joke - a running list of the world's cheapest bottled stuff.  JT, sandhill, prospect, calona, inniskillin...  really?

Honestly, I'm shocked by all the love for this place.  They have a good selection of noodles, vegetables, meat and sauces, I'll admit that but was it really worth the absolutely insane price?!  My plate was $30!! My boyfriend's was $25 and one of the guys ran up $45!

They give you hot and sour soup or miso soup.  Choose miso because the hot and sour soup is not good.

Look, the food was good but I couldn't enjoy it knowing the price.  No matter how you spin it, it's still Mongolian grill. You can't fancy this stuff up.  It just isn't! I'd rather take less of a variety for $10 or less here in Seattle.  I know, I know it's Whistler, but honestly, for these prices, you could take your money to a fancier restaurant even in the Village!

The selection of meats and veggies is great! Food was nice. BUT....be careful  about how many noodles you put in your bowl or you could end up like me and pay $40 for a noodle dish. They say that if you fill you bowl half way that it will run about $20 but this didn't seem to work out for me. For a suggestion, skip the noodles, just do veggies and meats and partake in the free rice on the table!!

Warning:  your food will add up faster than you can imagine!

Came here on Saturday night since I had never been before and thought it would be a good experience.

It is somewhere around $3.59 per 100 grams which is A LOT if you think about it (especially considering I could've made this meal at home).

We were seated right away in a booth and the waitress explained "how it works":

Choose your meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauce.
----of course, the sauce WILL weigh down your food.

"Your meal will be weighed by our chefs then theatrically grilled to perfection."
----- Theatrically is pushing it.  One chef kept dropping the paddles, another one looked bored as he threw the paddles up in the air, and the other chef did nothing "theatrical" at all.

and you will be given jasmine or brown rice, along with miso or hot and sour soup.

    1.  most of the buckets of vegetables and meats were still very frozen and some did not look appetizing.

    2. That's expensive.  No matter what way you look at it, 1 large plate cost $32.00.

    3.  There's no "theatre" to the cooking.  Actually watching them scrap the dirty paddles on the side of the grill was nauseating to me.

    4. The soup is barely average and rice is rice.

All in all, I would've rather spent that money on a nicer restaurant in Whistler and not felt ripped off at the end.

Fantastic fresh food, great service.  A little packed sometimes but it's a must if you're in Whistler.  You pick and chose your ingredients and sauce, pay by weight, sit and enjoy a perfectly cooked -whatever-you-put-in-there.

And if you're not happy with the food, don't worry, it's your own fault!

The reason I'm giving it 2 stars its because it cost us $100 the dinner for 2 people. We only got 2 drinks and 2 plates.
They charge per 100gr. Which they warn you to be careful, but C'mon! $100!!!!
I got to admit that the sauces were pretty good, but not THAT good for $100... sorry I'm still in shocked after paying this for this meal.
Enviroment its pretty and service was great.

Cool spot and really nice servers and chefs. It's fun to be able to pick your own ingredients and watch it be cooked right in front of you. Good selection of food to choose from and good variety of sauces to top it off with. Just beware though, it all adds up very quickly... I personally think it's way overpriced, but I guess what isn't at Whistler. I would rather just buy a container of the sauce and pick up some ingredients to cook myself.

We ate here more than once on our trip, I will confess. The price may be a little higher than some other similar places but the variety and quality of the food is so worth it. Plus, you get so much food! We would take some back to our condo where we staying and munch on it throughout the day/evening/midnight snacks. :)

I had a lot of fun mixing different sauces and using the many different proteins they had available to make a different bowl each time. This is a very good place to grab some food that everyone will be happy with because there are so many choices. I would very much recommend a stop here. Plus, it's nice and convenient and easy to get to (not that anything in Whistler is really hard to get to).

As far as taste goes you really can't go wrong with stir fry especially when you choose what you want in it. They charge you by the weight and you just add your meats, veggies, and sauces in a bowl and give it to the chef to cook in front of you. He might even do a few tricks. I would only go to this place when its 50% off for locals because otherwise its overpriced stir fry.

No other mongolie restaurant has EVER come close - in my book - to this place. The quality and freshness of the meats and veggies is superb! The only down fall is that because it is all by weight (like most) it can add up very FAST. My advice, go light on the pasta, they are bad for you anyways and will make you bowls heavier - less is MORE!

Good quality fresh food, but come on now, Mongolian BBQ is not supposed to be in the $20/bowl neighborhood, even if it is in a nicer and far less sketchy place like Mongolie Grill. I'm also not sure what "entertainment" is to be expected from the guys working the grill to the point that they have their own tip jar. All I could see were attempts to fit as many bowls of ingredients onto the thing to accommodate the long line of hungry tourists.

Three stars because it's definitely a good choice both food wise and price wise in Whistler. If we're evaluating solely on the basis of Mongolian BBQ joints: go down to Vancouver and have your pick of eat-all-you can Mongolian BBQ for ~$12.

J had read about this place in all the Ski magazines and declared this a "Must Eat" for our Whistler trip!  I was rather surprised since I'm the foodie in the relationship, but I was all game and waited in the crowded staircase for a a good 30-40 min.
I admit I was a bit hesitant - how different could this be than all the other Mongolian BBQ's?  First off - the meat cuts, quality, and variations were noticeably better.  The variety of add-ins to the stir-fry was the largest I'd ever seen!  But the real kicker is the sauce bar!  I've never been to a Mongolian BBQ with such a large choice of sauces and juices to pour on to your delight!  Of course, this will all cost you at the end when you find out how much your bowl weighs!
Personally, I prefer the more traditional Mongolian BBQ sauces and found most of the Mongolie Grill sauces to be thick, sweet and/or sour, and sticky.  But J and my sis really loved the sauces!  I think another problem is witholding from pouring on too many different sauces... especially if you pick marinated meat.  I LOVED my plate more than the others, and of course they eac felt the same about theirs.  I guess that's always why everyone loves Mongolian BBQ - YOU customize your plate to your palette!  Overall - worth the wait!
Just remember your order comes with rice AND soup too!

This is a review response to Deanna R's snarky review based wholly on the sauce nazi and being served a 'frozen' drink that wasn't zero degrees Kelvin.

Mongolie is definitely one of my favorite Mongolian grills and, for me, a must stop when in Whistler. If you haven't had Mongolian before or read any of the other reviews, you get a bowl, head to basically a raw buffet, dump as much or as little as you want in your bowl and then they cook it for you (no, it's not stir fry - that's a completely different style of preparation).

The prices have definitely gone up (and up) since the first time I came to Whistler 8 odd years ago. If you are a big eater, you can easily drop 40 bucks or more here on your entree and then drinks (which are delicious). I'm not a super big eater and easily squeeze under the $20 mark. However, I remember eating here for barely over $10 so the prices have gone up considerably.

However, the ingredients are fresh and while it's not a technical task to prepare the food, it is possible to BBQ poorly. It's not simple and they do a great job of grilling the food for you.

The do need to ditch the sauce nazi, though. I ding them for that and overall value.

One of the few quality restaurants in the village.  It's typical mongolian BBQ, where you go through the line and pile up your plate, then at the end, they cook it for you.  It's a bit gimmicky, but fun, and cool that you get to pick what and how much you want.  The line can get a bit backed up...but it's worth the wait.  And they have plaques on the wall honoring those who have piled up the most weight on their plates.  Some very pretty insane.

The restaurant itself is bright and inviting.  Service was good.  They also had really tasty mixed drinks, check out the lychee martini.

Very pricey for a Mongolian Grill type of place. The food was fine, but nothing memorable. We paid $55 (including tip) for dinner for two and each got one decent sized plate of food, plus the rice & soup that comes with the meal. We both just had water to drink. Considering that we normally pay less than $40 (including tip) for a multi-course Chinese dinner for two (with enough leftovers for another meal for both of us) this place is way overpriced, even for Whistler!

The soup that comes with dinner is really meh. I had the hot & sour soup - it was very thin, pretty much just broth. A friend who had the miso soup said hers wasn't that great, either - broth with a couple of pieces of tofu the size of crumbs.

Went for xmas dinner as we were visiting and didn't want turkey. It is expensive so be carefully in filling up that bowl! Don't go over half full or you will be paying a ton. Our server was cute and very good, stir fry was tasty, but definitely was not value for the high price. The owner must be laughing though, the 'chefs' require little skill aside from showmanship by tossing their spatulas, they weren't that entertaining.

And the sauce girl, I couldn't really understand her english but found it dumb that we couldn't select our sauces. Heck I'm paying this much do the kitchen prep myself, come on! So overall, I say go once, but wouldn't recommend a 2nd visit.

I haven't been here in over ten years and I've been here twice in the last two weeks! I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it!

It is a bit on the pricey side because it's done by weight and I can eat my weight in food! However, there are lots of choices, great sauces (lots of spicy ones) and unlimited amounts of rice!

It's also neat to watch them cook it right in front of you! You also can't go wrong when you get to choose what is in your meal! A fun place to eat!

I had been waiting for a long time to go here, because I had heard so many great things about Mongolie Grill. Finally, the summer arrived and also the half-price special on their meals. I enjoyed talking with the young chef who stir-fried the veggies and sauce I had collected in my silver metal bowl, and it was pretty tasty, as far as stir-fries go.

However, I was a bit disappointed with the decor and didn't feel it was the amazing experience that I had been waiting for. That being said, there was a couple from out of town who had a great time with the experience and even took photos of the chef preparing their food. I think it's a fun experience when you're visiting, and the atmosphere is probably more inviting during the evening.

We come to the Mongolie Grill everytime we're in Whistler. My hubby likes it. I just think it's ok. For starters, they always ask for your drinks (they make great "frozen" cocktails) before you go up and make your food. Ok, this is traditional, but not the best idea, in my opinion, when you have to go wait in line for 20 minutes while they make your food! They should ask what you want and offer to bring it to you after you sit back down. I instigated this and our waiter complied (it should be a no brainer though). So we order a liter of a frozen drink, which sat at the bar for a good 5 minutes while our waiter did something else, and it proceeded to melt up there. I hate alcohol "frozen" drinks that are thawed, it's just nasty. This happens everytime we come here! I don't know why we bother to order them anymore. Always NOT "frozen"!

This leads me to my second complaint, the sauce nazi. There has never been a sauce nazi there before. This time she was working in full-force and would not let me put my own sauces on. Instead, she insisted she knew how much I wanted/needed and sent me on my way. My meal was dry. I should have on insisted on more sauce but I took her word for it when she said that was plenty. This must be a new yet chronic problem because, without asking, the waiter offered us more sauces when we got back to the table. Chili paste and hoisin. I took the chili paste and that helped out my meal.

It's over-priced. They don't have white cabbage (which I think is a staple for stir-fry type food) and they don't have cilantro on their bar, a must have. I've had way better mongolian at every other mongolian place I've ever been to. In my opinion, there is way better food to be had in Whistler.

I have two viewpoints about this restaurant in Whistler Village.

    1) The food is good quality, the staff is friendly, and the chefs are always quite entertaining at the big grill.

    2) This business is a license to print money for the owners and is utterly getting away with highway robbery in their setup.

The concept behind this grill is that you pick you own ingredients and you pay for the weight of your meal.  The catch is that it doesn't take very long before you're forking over $30-40 for a reasonably sized portion.  There's absolutely nothing that Mongolie Grill provides with service or quality of food that makes them worth spending that much on an entree.  In Whistler, you can easily spend the same amount on a good dinner of much higher quality.  Moreover, I've been to equally tasty Mongolian grills that charge around $12 for all you can eat.  In other words, the owners of the Mongolie Grill are making money hand over fist and denying customers any real value to their dining experience.  They do occasionally have half off specials during the off-seasons, but even then I still feel entirely ripped off.

We went during our visit to the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the place was clean, warm and not crowded (at least when we walked in). The food ingredients were fresh and appetizing. And the service was good.

The only complaint I had was their pricing. They charge $3.99 per 100 grams of food. We non-metric-using Americans didn't really have a good concept on how much 100 grams is, so our bowl quickly exceeded $20. The good thing is they do bring you as much rice as you want.

Avoid the tofu and other heavy items, and you'll be ok.

I really like this place. I have been here three times, twice in my latest visit to Whistler, and I have always left satisfied.

First of all, it is expensive. There is no way around this. The food is about $30 per person, and with drinks, this will get pricey. But I think it is worth it. The smoothies are great, by the way.

And the food is good. You choose your ingredients, put them in a bowl (there are vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp, and lots of other things.)  You then add some sauces (they all taste good, I don't think you can actually go wrong here) and then watch them cook it. You then sit back down and eat, drink, and have a good time all round.

So I highly recommend this place. I have had no issues with it.

The food, staff and ambience is fine. However, I'm complaining about the expense. To their credit I was warned to not take too much initially and if I was still hungry to make a second trip. Still, I was a bit surprised at being charged $30.00 for an amount of food that would cost about $8-10 at a regular Mongolian grill. This was after the 20% lunch discount! The food is excellent but not enough to warrant an additional $20 expense. Drinks are pricey too.

Interesting concept for a Mongolian Grill. For those who haven't had the greasy, dirt-cheap, oily loveliness that is Mongolian BBQ before, they're likely to be excited. Having said that, this place is liable to be a very overpriced meal.

    The Good:
There's a pretty extensive selection to choose from and all of the meat is reasonably fresh, given that it's been sitting out all night. There's a pretty good selection of sauces, from coconut milk and chili oil, to "Chef's Special", and I heard multiple cries of exasperation from Aussies who couldn't decide which sauce to put on there and just went for the gold with all of them. The chefs are pretty good spatula flippers, and make a nice little show out of their dance around the griddle.

    The Bad:
At $3.65 per 100g of food you put in your bowl, you're paying more than $16.50 per pound of whatever you get at the bar. Since the bowls are huuuge, you're liable, as other yelpers have noted, to fill up more than you can eat (or afford). Also, paying $16.50/lb for noodles isn't my idea of a nice meal.

Suggestions: Rice and soup are included in the meal, so go easy (I mean really easy) on the grill part, unless you want to drop $25/person on mediocre Mongolian BBQ. The hostesses advise you fill your bowl halfway at the bar, but I would say a quarter-full bowl is plenty, and much easier on your wallet. Better yet, ask the hostess at the front for a kid's bowl, so you're not tempted to get a s***ton of food that you can't eat. Then, get your nom nom on.

Every trip to Whistle I stop at Mongolie Grill. What a fun place! You get to custom make your dish from a great variety of meat, seafood, veg tables and sauces. Cooked right in front of you on a Mongolian grill (fun & entertaining) Just be careful your eyes are usually bigger than your stomach!

Very expensive but arguably the best asian food you can get in the village. They don't accept reservations so be prepared to wait in line a looong time. They are very good for vegetarians and will even clean up the grill and use special utensils to cook you food - this gets lots of bonus points from me. The wine is nothing to write home about - I think they can do with getting a more expansive wine menu.

I love this place! You pick your own veggies, meat and sauce and they cook it for you. It is fun, but can get expensive for what you get. For the cost, you can get a much finer meal, but there is always a wait, so they are definitely doing it right!

I love this place! It can definitely get expensive.  But you will only feel ripped off  if you dont listen to your server, the sign on your table, and the huge sign on the food display that all explain the pricing is by weight which essentially means the price is up to you. Every time i have been here the server has came right up and made sure we understand the pricing system, warning us about the size of the bowls. If you make yourself a $50 meal it is nobody's fault but your own! You could take $50 worth of peanuts at the grocery store bulk section too if you were not paying attention and didn't think to find out the price. I usually spend $20-30 on my meal which is not much considering that you are dining at the #1 resort in North America- nothing in Whistler is cheap so you really can't act surprised when things cost more here. Snowboard kids and ski bums gladly sleep in closets here for $800 a month. For a very average burger and fries at most casual dining places in Whistler you are going to spend around $20, i don't mind paying the extra and having a little fun and getting exactly what and how much i want from a great selection of fresh ingredients, i mean you are paying $14 to park for the day and $90 to ski so it is all relative. There is no comparison to other mongolian all-the-burnt-food-you-can-eat joints who have 3 meats, 5 veggies and a bunch of watered down sauces, this place is dominant with at least 40 or so ingredients and at least a dozen sauces, we also found out from our server that they are independently owned so aren't even connected with other mongolian grills. Oh and they do 20% off at lunch before 4 everyday, i just found this out and it's great because it's way cheaper and not as busy as dinner which can get pretty crazy, everyone working here is always super nice and the food is up to you just make sure you are paying attention

This place rocks!!  From the moment we walked in for my buddy's bachelor party dinner, we were taken care of.  Our group of 7 was sat at a nice central table with just a short 10 minute wait considering it was a Saturday night at 8:00 PM.  After piling exaclty 586 grams of fresh proteins and produce into my metalic bowl and juicing it up with the Sea to Sky sauce, I was entertained by the talented team of juggling cooks.  The food was prepared very nicely and tasted fantastic (although if it wasn't a good mix, you have nobody to blame but yourself....)  We proceeded to share a couple pitchers (pardon, "jugs") of beer and a fun loving fellow Seattlite bought us a round of tequila shots.  I even put on a show, doing the infamous Tough Guy Shot, and was deemed legendary by the staff....  Overall, every single person in the establishment was awesome, and that's counting both staff and patrons.

Fun idea. Not bad value if you choose well. Remember not all ingredients go well together. You are charged by weight so lots of sauce equals lots of dollars.
