The stylist was told my needs, but he ignored them. I went to Monet Salon to tidy my Victoria Beckham-style chin-length bob.

Also, I told the stylist that I am growing out my hair for a donation to Angel Hair for kids (http://www.acvf.ca/ind...). By the time the stylist finished, he had given me a layered bowl cut (this is how my friends and neighbours described it) and shaved the back of my head ONTO THE OCCIPITAL BONE. This was not what I asked for.

During the cut, the stylist offered highlights: Given his alleged thirty years experience as a hair dresser, he should know that any chemical treatment is a no-no for hair donation. (In a telephone conversation approximately three and a half weeks later, the owner reported that the stylist denied this suggestion).

With the layers the stylist cut, my hair falls into my eye: I am an athlete and using product (I sweat product out) or tiny barrettes to keep my hair out of my face is suboptimal. The longest length falls at my nose. This is NOT a Victoria Beckham CHIN-LENGTH bob. I can't even tuck my hair out of my face: I could do that with my original cut that I received at the 2011 Relay for Life following my hair donation in June. The stylist explained, after shaving the back of my head, that the bare neck and head would make me feel "cooler." Wrong! Into my first post-haircut workout, my head itched like mad and the I couldn't apply sunblock enough to keep the skin from burning. Also, the layers kept falling out the barretes and poking me in the eye. When you are training hard at a pre-elite level, fiddling with barettes and product during practice are a sure fire way to gain the negative attention of a coach.

One customer expressed distress: he went to Monet salon with specific instructions. His preferred stylist was not available, but this stylist was, and the stylist ignored his instructions. The client went home upset, and resolved to not allow the stylist near his hair. The stylist is good at the cutting styles he knows, but he ignores the requests and needs of the client.

For me, the stylist at Monet Salon added an additional year or two to regrowth for my next hair donation, ignored my request and gave me a very impractical haircut.

I spoke to the owner of the salon by phone when I returned to complain. The owner was apologetic, offered to donate wigs in lieu of my next hair donation, and said that he would call me back. I heard nothing until I filed a complaint with a third party. (At a friend's encouragement, I forwarded my complaint to the Better Business Bureau).

Three weeks after I spoke to the owner, he got back to me. He demanded to know the name of my previous stylist and people I talked to who were previously displeased with the service.

The owner  defended the stylist, saying that the stylist will do what HE thinks looks best on the client. The owner told me that my better business bureau complaint made me look bad, defended the stylist, told me I contradicted myself, that I am an "intelligent woman" but said that he wanted to make good by providing service hereafter.

But how can I trust someone who does not get back to a client until a third party has been contacted, ADMITS that his stylist does what the stylist, not the client, wants, and infers that  the upset client is a liar? The stylist shaved the back of my neck and head onto the occipital bone. Perhaps the owner needs sworn affidavits from people who saw it?

To conclude, the follow-up call, the owner offered a free cut and to do maintenance later. But the entire experience, from the owner's not returning my call until after I filed a complaint, to the demands for names and photographs three weeks after I returned to express my complaint in person, has left me feeling sour about the place.
