Review from Kayti C.
This place has some of the best gelato around. Not to mention a whole world full of flavors. I had banana fudge, which sounds safe considering all of their other flavors but sooo good! I had to convince myself it was a bad idea to buy both gelato AND gelato cake because those look delicious too. NOTE: This place is cash only now so be prepared. There's usually a line too so come early. And don't be afraid to ask for samples. They're allllll about that.

Excellent Rum Rasin! Best I had, even in Chocolate flavor.
Two kinds of Mango. The one we ordered are intensely flavorful as Mango. -

This is now called Gelarmony, so I am copying my review to both places:D
Best ice cream in Vancouver, since Cows ice cream is not here with us anymore.
I love Nutella flavour!
The only lame thing is that they only accept cash, but oh well... -
Review from .Nette T.
Mondo Gelato changed their name to Gelarmony and I'm happy to report they still have the same gelato, and they still have their cash only policy. $3.95 gets you a cup with 2 scoops.
I got my favorite, Nuttella. It's still creamy, nutty, chocolatety, and delicious. I also tried Ferrero Rocher which is Nutella flavor with bits of chocolate and hazelnut which added a nice texture to the gelato.
I don't think I'll ever stop loving Gelarmony's gelato. I've recently become a fan of ice cream but it comes in second to gelato.Listed in: Vancouver

=) Love their gelato cake!
I've always been a fan of their gelato. This time, I got a gelato cake for my bf's bday. it's $39 for 8-inch cake ( good for 12-15 people). I planned to get a 10-inch cake ( $49), but was told that I needed to order it two days in advanced. Cakes with customized flavors need to be ordered two days in advanced as well. There are about 3 to 4 ready-to-go cakes ( different decorations and flavor combinations) at the display. I picked the green tea + cream(?) cake with mini icream on top ( 5 small scoop of other flavors). Everyone, especially the bday boy, enjoys this cake.
However, keep in mind:
This place only accepts cash. As gelato cake melts quickly, and the restaurant we had dinner at does not have a big refrigerator, I had to find someone to deliever the cake when we were ready to cut it. -

Yelpers, this place is now called Gelarmony.
But who cares what it's called --- it's DAMN good.
There are a bazillion flavors, and an entire section dedicated to vegan flavors.
Their fruit flavors run the tropical gamut (lychee, mango, passion fruit, guava, etc) and are perfectly flavored and not overly sweet. They have an impressive selection of soy based flavors. The winner of the group was the amazingly creamy and flavorful soy hazelnut.
Amazing!!! -

As part of my Tour de Foodies in Vancouver, my friends took me to Mondo Gelato as a cool, refreshing treat after lunch at JapaDog. I didn't have really high expectations although my friends had mentioned this as a place worth checking out, but once I started getting a few samples here and there--WOW!!! Was I ever floored! This was tasty, light and oh-so-delicious, and Mondo had made an instant fan.
You know how grape flavored candies don't really taste like grape (more like Robitussun and suffering), and orange ice cream doesn't REALLY taste like orange? Not so at Mondo. It's like the Jelly Belly of gelato joints, because every flavor is dead-on. The pear sorbetto tastes like pear! The pistachio tastes like pistachio! The snozzberries taste like snozzberries! (Note: may not be actual flavor.) They've also got some stranger varieties like Blue Sky, which tasted like those tiny flavored, colored marshmallows you get in the big Kraft bags. And at around $3 for two scoops, I thought it was a pretty great value.
I would travel el mundo to eat at Mondo again! Friendly staff and fantastic flavors. I don't think I'll ever be quite satisfied with pear-flavored anything else again, because Mondo's sorbetto tasted just like my grandma's spiced cinnamon pears.Listed in: Fun in Van-city

Quite Delicious for some Gelato, I thought the Rose flavor was quite interesting~
its a nice place to go to during a hot day but please keep in mind there will be a long line. There are many many many flavors to choose from so dont get mad at the person in front cause you just might be stuck in the same predicament.
There are about two-three tables outside for you to eat at. The only thing with the location is that the building usually blocks the sun so on hot days you can enjoy your gelato under a nice cool shade. -
Review from Angela H.
There's nothing like a nice cup of creamy gelato when its a hot summer night. Apparently, that was a sentiment that many shared, because the line for Mondo Gelato was like 15 long. It doesn't help that they have like 50 flavors to choose from (although some had sold out by the time we got there)- you moving back and forth from the displays trying to figure out which flavor you want to try.
We ultimately decided on two- the Indian mango and the Ferrero Rocher. The Indian mango was a pleasant surprise- its a bit different from the standard mango flavor. The Indian mango tastes more complex- its more fragrant, the mango flavor is much richer, and there's just a deeper overall taste. Fabulous! The Ferrero Rocher wasn't quite as great as the Indian mango, but still good nonetheless. Hazelnut and chocolate are ALWAYS good together.
Overall, good gelato- it was smooth, creamy, and not at all icy. Service could probably stand to be less abrupt but I guess I'd be pretty short on patience too when you've got 20 people in front of you trying to decide on flavors. -

Oh My God -------
Gelato as good as I've tasted in Europe and right here on your doorstep in Vancouver... You lucky people.
The flavours are ever changing and the latest "Brazilian Cappuccino" is a must for coffee lovers who also favour the joys of Ice Cream. Another strange but great option is the "Black Sesame" who would ever think that a Grey ice cream could taste so good..
Finally if you're scared of all things Gelato being bad for you why not give the bright orange "Ace Vitamins" option a go full of citrus goodness with a hint of carrot..
Vancouver - make the most of this place it is truly a taste of the world on your doorstep... -

MONDO GELATO, I LOVE YOU.
Good heavens, their gelato is mmm-mmm-good! This is probably the best I've ever had; the most flavorful, on spot, hits the spot. I'm digging my brain for descriptors and just remembering how good it was.
Tasted and loved: Toblerone (not listed on site), Indian Mango, White Sensation (new!), Green Tea, Peach Mango, Hazelnut, Guava. I definitely need to make a few more trips to try even more flavors. (I think they also let you try some flavors, but, perhaps only up to three.)
To the lucky people who live nearby, they also have gelato cakes... (some of which are topped with even MORE random gelato scoops with a cone - picture the design, yo; some with eclairs on top; etc). I wish this place was closer to my work, so we can have some for our birthday celebrations at work.
By the way... the place accepts cash only. Come prepared! -

After grossly disappointed by Mum's (on Davie) and Casa Dolce (by Coal Harbour Quay) with their sorbetto and coloured frozen dessert disguised as gelato, I'm glad that I tried out Mondo Gelato last night during our after-dinner walk to English Bay.
I walked pass Mondo many times and have to admit that I was slightly apprehensive thinking that it'd just be another tourist trap. However, after taking the first lick of my nutella and my partner's marzipan, it was no trap. My nutella tasted just like Nutella - rich thick and creamy.
It was cheap also. $3.50 for 2 scoops on a waffle cone. There are many flavours to choose from and I can't wait to go back to try some of their other ones.
Surprisingly, it does not take credit. Not even debit! I wouldn't mind paying a little more for having the ability to pay by credit or debit. I have to ding it 1 star for cash only. It's not a food stand and should not operate like a food stand. -
Review from L K.
My favorite gelato place.
I've been going to Vancouver for years, and when Mondo Gelato opened up on Robson, we of course went there to have gelato. And have been going back since.
I love the crazy flavors they have and the presentation is beautiful. I can be freezing my ass off in 60 degree weather (hey, I'm from Hawaii), but I will jump out of the car, grab some gelato, then jump back into the car, so I can eat my gelato in warmth.
One of my best friends and I loved their Rose gelato, which really did taste like the smell of a rose, which probably doesn't sound appetizing, but at the time was fun. And we dared to taste the gray colored Sesame flavor, which tasted like a sesame seed.
I always love their Mango gelato, which totally captures the flavor of a mango. And their Nutella is divine.
Yum! -

I like their Gelato!
My favorite is darl chocolate, mango, coconuts and youglt.
They sell 0.5L and 1L. I like this for the gift but I think th price is more expencive than last year.
In winter, I sometimes feel strange taste of their gerato. I think it is not fresh. you shold try firtst if you buy big portion in winter. -
Review from Renee C.
It's great, but it's not fantastic! It's crowded, but not too crazy that you have to wait over a half hour. It's one of those places where you must stop into at least a couple times in a month to get your share of good gelato in this city.
My favorite flavors: Pistachio, and cranberry muesli....could sometimes be swayed by the black sesame too. :) -

Usually I don't get ice cream or gelato since I'm lactose intolerant. But sometimes I just have that need to say eff you to my stomach. Usually come here when ever I'm on robson. I always get the hazelnut or hedgehog gelato. Something comforting about those flavors.

It's hard to bring a countering point of view to this place when another reviewer has already said everything I wanted to say. The Bacio and Nutella flavours make it hard to try anything else. Rain or snow, even when I'm mid-cold, I still have to make the trek here.
Upon the insistence of friends, I have sampled other flavours. The pistachio is good, as is the mango. But in my heart, I remain true to Bacio and Nutella. -
Review from Sonya L.
This cute little gelato place has a TON of different flavors. I was impressed at the choices. I ended up with coconut and cream puff, both of which were delicious (although I was partial to the cream puff - surprising, as coconut is usually my favorite flavor!).
This place is adorable and has a very clean, open interior. It was super popular when we were there, with a ton of people in line behind us. Luckily, they have quite a bit of seating.
I would say that the gelato is a little bit pricey for the amount that you get, but it's delicious so that's all worth it. -

June 17/10 mondo is mid-name change between Umbria Caffe or Gelarmony Gelato Cafe (they haven't decided yet). Still great cash only flavours!
Enjoyed a scoop of banana and green tea in a cone. -

It's actually a 4.5~ I would've given it 5 out of 5 if the price of their gelato was like... 75cents cheaper, hee hee :P
The taste of gelato is SO RICH, it makes me *moan* every single time when i scoop up some (with my tiny plastic spoon) and let the flavor and the gelato melt away slowly inside of my mouth~ *MmmmmmmmmmMmmmmmmmmmm*
My favorite picks are: Coffee; Green Tea; Indian Mango
p.s. My recent discovery: I'm not a fan of hot beverage such as tea or coffee but my friend insisted me to order some hot tea and have it with my gelato. I was like, "wut?? Mixing cold and hot food is just weird." But I tried it... I had some gelato and just before it started to melt in my mouth, I quickly have a tiny sip of hot tea... Surprisingly, the hot tea actually brings out the flavor of the gelato even more!!! *OOOohya~* -

This place had a good selection. The service was fast, and while there were a number of people, it wasn't crowded. I'd go again, but its not like I HAVE to HAVE IT!

Mondo Gelato is great on a hot summer day. There are many flavours that you can sample before making your choice. The most important thing is the test and I have yet to be disappointed. The flavours are very balanced - not too sweet.
Service is prompt which is great for then there are high volumes. There are some tables to sit down at and the establishment is very clean. My favourite place for frozen desserts in downtown. -
Review from Linda H.
A visit up to Vancouver from Seattle isn't complete for my family without a stop over at Mondo Gelato. We hadn't been up to Vancouver for a while, so we were shocked to find that the store in Aberdeen Centre had closed down. In its place -- a store that sells towels cleverly disguised as pasteries. Unfortunately, we found this out after dinner, so it was too late to head back to Vancouver where I knew there was a store on Denman St. Afterwards, we looked online and saw that they had opened a store on Robson St. The sad thing was that we had been on Robson St earlier that day too.
Lucky for me, I had another trip planned to Vancouver several weeks later, and I definitely scheduled a stop in to Mondo Gelato. Since I missed out on the gelato on my last trip and I wasn't going to be coming up again for a long while, I got myself 4 scoops of gelato whereas my friends settled for 2 scoops. They didn't have one of my favorites (pear) available, but the ones I did have were delicious: lychee, Indian mango, strawberry, and pistachio. -

Obviously when staying just a few blocks away, Mondo was visited by myself and my husband at least three times in our five days there.
Not much to say because we all know gelato is fabulous. Lots and lots of flavors and quick service ... if the line isn't out the door.
Yum! -

Delicious gelato! There was a huge selection and it was hard to decide, but I got nutella and peach mango. MMMM!!! So tasty! The line was long, but moved along quickly. There aren't many Mondos in el mundo, but now that I know that it exists, I'm going to make sure to drop in if I'm visiting an area with a Mondo Gelato!

One of my favourite gelato places. Love their mango, whiskey cream, pistachio, and cream brule.

Review from Reena M.
They have awesome gelato cakes! A little on the spendy side, but well worth it for someone special. My friend spent $40 on an 8 inch cake for her boyfriend. It was a vanilla and ferrero gelato cake bought straight from the display. If you five them 48 hours notice then they'll custom make a cake for you with the flavours of your choice. And they're pretty fancy looking to. Not your average Dairy Queen ice cream cake, that's for sure. My friend's boyfriend is a lucky man.

Great for a hot summer day or any day for that matter. It's pretty light and hits the spot when you're craving for something sweet. Many, if not all of the flavors tastes exactly how its supposed to be, watermelon tastes like if you were eating a watermelon, green apple = same, strawberry = same...you get the point! It's fairly inexpensive, I think it costs you about $3.00 for two scoops of your choice. When I'm here, I tend to pick the same flavors - mango & pineapple/coconut...sooooo delish! They have so many flavors to choose from so if you're having a difficult time choosing a flavor, they give you free tasting samples!

I prefer the quieter Denman street location because I don't want to wait when a gelato craving hits. As I stare at through the glass all that goes through my head is decisions, decisions, decisions. I have no favourite flavours I love all my gelato children and I will eat each and every one.

Very good gelato. But the Ferro Roche tasted like good, rich chocolate, not like the candy. Gets crowded, and fun to visit.

Oh, sweet irony-- my favorite gelato on this continent (because, honestly, nothing tops Italian gelato IN Italy) is in Canada. My friends and I stumbled upon Mondo Gelato as we were walking around the city. The afternoon was overcast and chilly-- not a particularly favorable day for frozen treats-- but I can't pass up gelato, even in the dead of winter. (I think they have meetings for people like us. G.A., Gelatoholics Anonymous.) I had a cup with green tea and rose flavors, because those are my favorites and tend to be the scale on which I measure the deliciousness of gelato. Lawd have mercy! I wish I could go back to Vancouver just for this.

In Seattle, we are severely limited by the number of the gelato flavors whenever we have the craving for gelato. At most places, there is probably only one rack of gelato with maybe 10 flavors at the most. We try to make a stop here on most of our trips to VBC, they've always got at least 30-40 flavors each time we go and they are all soo good. A regular, which is 2 scoops will cost you 3.75 including tax, which is a steal. You can choose a sugar cone or a cup. There are quite a few Mondo Gelato(s) around VBC so you're bound to run into at least one while you are there.

Addendum - since Mondo has re opened, you are only allowed to sample THREE flavors before you commit to buy. This is too bad since there are so many flavors to choose from. Still, though, it's a great place.

I wish there was a gelato place like this near me. This place was great! So many flavors and so little time. I had the caramel apple and lime sorbetto and both were really good. My husband had the nutella and marzipan and he enjoyed both. The place does get busy, but they were fairly efficient.

Guava Rose Sorbetto. I know that this is a gelatto place (similar like Linz and Vail's back in Evanston, IL with their interesting flavors and such), but the Guava Rose Sorbetto just hit the spot - sightly tangy, sweet, and just lovely all around - you can taste the guava, and you can taste the subtle rose. I would eat this every single day, or I would actually fly to Vancouver from Chicago to enjoy this double-scoop delight.

One of the best gelatos I've had and I've traveled across many major cities in North America. Made a few trips on my last visit to Vancouver.
