Groupon had a special on this burger eatery a while back and I decided to take advantage of it. Was it worth the Groupon? Somewhat. I don't think I would have paid full price for what I had.

We initially had a hard time locating the restaurant as it used to be Papi's. When we walked in, it was literally like 2 restaurants in one. The informal half housed the more casual menu while the more formal half housed the pricier menu. Since the informal half was packed, we were seated in the formal half of the restaurant. The design concept of this place could have been better; there could have been something to separate the 2 places or maybe something to make the transition between informal setting and more dressy setting.

Around the table, we had the mondo burger, the canuck burger and the philly dog. We also had a side of half fries and half yam fries. I thought my greasy Canuck was ok. It was satisfying and patty was juicy. The bacon wasn't cooked crispy at all (which is good). My friend said the philly dog was okay and my other friend said the mondo burger wasn't anything exceptional, but it was satisfying.

The fries were quite disappointing as it was quite undercooked. The yam fries were decent though.

The atmosphere was eh. Service was decent; bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Would I come back? Possibly to try the pricier menu (because mom and dad decided to buy their own Groupon too). Hopefully, the pricier menu is worth the money. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I was really looking forward to trying this place, but sad to say it just wasn't up to snuff, especially for a place specializing in burgers. The burger just wasn't very good, it was overcooked and obviously not a fresh hand made patty. It's really unfortunate considering they have A butcher not LITERALLY 5 steps away which I am sure could provide them with fresh ground chuck or any cut of beef. With some of the amazing burgers I have had lately(see Romers or Rogue) Mondo just isn't up to snuff and if they want to survive as a burger joint they really need to up their game, I am not trying to be mean or rude, just an honest opinion from a REAL burger lover.

A restaurant with multiple personality disorder?
    Guess what? It works.

It's an Italian restaurant, a market deli,  and at the back, with a side entrance from the lane is a small cute Burger Bar, our target.
Not your average burgers either. They serve organic Beef, Bison, Salmon, Lamb and --Kangaroo! Their burgers are made in house and have no filler in them, meaning no gluten!
The fries are also house made, but the Yam fries they bring in frozen, unfortunately.

The beef burgers are small but compact and the fries are crispy. Everyone was happy with their meals.
It was a bit smokey in there for me because I guess the fan doesn't work very well?

If all this doesn't sound like enough going on, they also hold cooking classes sometimes too.
Check the website for more details.

Didn't mind this little burger place. I went on a cold afternoon -- always feel bad for the Steveston area during winter- - can be cold and wet! Anyways, we walked in and greeted to be seated by the window or near the back wall. We opted for the back wall, although it was a bit tight.  The window seat would have been better but the table was in between 2 doors! There was no heating and all the wood in the restaurant made it a bit cold. So, I have to say only 2.5 stars for the atmosphere. They could make the place a bit more homey during the winter season.

    We had:
    1 Snapper Burger
    1 Canuck Burger
Half order of Yam fries (which were huge!)
1 Pale Ale (yum) but a mistake since I was already too cold!
    1 Coffee (not bad)

Service - slow. Only one girl waiting on about 5 tables. A guy waiter showed up once in a while. Then with a swoop an older woman who acted like the owner (prob was) came in and talked very loudly with a customer at the bar...

Anyways, the highlight was the SNAPPER BURGER. I recommend that and the YAM fries were delicious -- hot off the grill.

From service to food, top to tail, absolutely abysmal. We ordered the organic burger, the snapper burger, the mondo burger, and the yam and potato fries. The lamb burger and kangaroo burger were sold out at 5 pm on saturday! We waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged, and a further 30 for the food. The fries were stone cold, the burgers charred and dry. The buns were singed on top, soggy inside. The tomatoes were so pathetically underripe that their paleness was only rivaled by their bland crunch. The waitress was friendly enough, but the other waitresses were unavailable, or surly. We saw a group with a reservation walk out after being shunted between the two surly women. Not a damned redeeming thing here.
