I hosted my sister's baby shower (for a party of about 30 people) at Mondello and I could not be any happier.

I was taken care of respectfully and promptly from the planning stages to the end.  Menu options and descriptions of the entrees where given so that I knew exactly what I would be getting.  Jessie was very accommodating and patient with any changes that were made along the way, which included starting the party off a half hour earlier than expected.

The restaurant was set up ahead of time, which included a seating arrangement/chart (including high chairs), an area for gifts, and another area for the dessert display.

The restaurant was recently renovated and the decor is modern and stylish.  The restaurant is a good size, yet cozy enough for private dinner parties.

The staff was attentive, polite, and cheery.  We always had refills without having to search for a server and were graciously accommodated with any requests we did have.

The chef, Nico, came out to greet the guests personally, which was a nice touch.

The food was, in one word...ok...maybe two, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.  Our meal started with the Italian salad (mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots with a balsamic vinaigrette).  Our second meal was penne pasta in a fresh tomato sauce.  The third entree was the chicken piccata (grilled chicken breast with a lemon caper butter sauce).  The chicken came with a side of broccoli, carrots, and mashed potatoes.  The chicken was SO GOOD.  Just the right amount of garlic, lemon, and capers.  The vegetables were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of "crunch".  They were not overdone and/or wilted.  The portions were very appropriate.  No one felt cheated and no one felt uncomfortably stuffed.  Quite a few of the dinner guests commented on how good the meal was and mentioned coming back to the restaurant for a ladies' night get together.

I can't forget the punch, which was a hit too!  There's an alcoholic version, but I opted to forgo that option since we were being served wine with the meal.

I can't thank Nico, Jessie, and the staff enough for all their help and generosity.  My sister said she enjoyed the whole event from beginning to end and wouldn't have it any other way.  The baby shower was a definite hit.

I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Re-visitation. Must use newly-developed pizza rating system!

Crust Texture: Cracker-thin crust that still manages to be chewy.

Crust Flavor: Salty and chewy-yummy. Great.

Sauce Flavor: Sweet and tangy and herbal - AUTHENTICO!

Sauce Amount: Perfection. Light so the crust isn't affected by the moisture.

Cheese Flavour: FRESH and mild - quality cheese = subtle but beautiful flavour.

Cheese Amount : Again, light-handed: classic Italian way of cheesing a 'za!

Topping Quality: Fresh fresh fresh tomato sauce, top-quality mozzarella with minimal herbs. Gorgeous.

Topping Amount: Applied with the lightest hand - beautiful.

Presentation: Fine - you can tell it's not a top-notch TO Italian resto, but I think it's good for Mississauga. Is that terrible to say?

Overall Taste: YUM. Full four stars.

I have heard that the name of this restaurant has changed. Can anyone confirm or deny?
I first went here on a girls night out. The atmosphere is very relaxing and friendly. And the staff are very polite as well.
I ordered the linguine Alfredo and it seemed like a lot more than I expected. Very delicious however. So, I have to say if you are going on an empty stomach, you wont leave hungry.
Perfect date restaurant or place to go with a few friends.

I've used Yelp before to get a few suggestions, but no place has made me feel the need to write a review, until Mondello.

I was a little apprehensive, since it doesn't look like much from outside. Once inside however, you quickly forget what the outside looks like.

    Staff:

The very first thing the Hostess did when my girlfriend and I arrived was check to see if the best table in the house was taken. It wasn't, so she sat us there. It was a beautiful, comfortable booth that was as private as you can expect at a restaurant.
The waitress was very nice. I never understood why higher-end restaurants forbid the use of notepads to take down orders, but it didn't matter. Everything came out just the way we ordered.

    Atmosphere:

There have really only been two restaurants I've been to that have had nicer atmospheres, and they were both much more expensive.

    Food:

We started with the Shrimp Saute. Each individual element in the dish was very nice. Once I managed to get each element into a single forkful however, the dish went from good to amazing. Easily among the best starters I've had.

I had the Lamb Chops. They were flavourful, and tender, but a little hard to eat because of the bones (dim lighting makes eating chops a little tricky). It came with a nice scoop of mashed potatoes as well as perfectly cooked carrots and broccoli. Overall a very nice dish.

My girlfriend went for the Penne alla Vodka, which was easily the best pasta dish I've ever tasted. Everything in it tasted fresh and light, and it all came together beautifully.

We finished off splitting a Tiramisu, which is served in a wine glass. It was tasty, yet light and not over-powering. It was a very nice ending to the meal.

The special of the night was a wild mushroom risotto. As much as I like risotto, I passed on it. Hopefully they'll have something similar next time. That along with the Wild Gnocchi, I think we have our next meal planned.

Overall, it was a very nice evening. The prices were reasonable, and the food was great. My thanks to everyone at the restaurant.
