I freaking love this place.
I agree with other reviewers that it's tiny, but everything in there is so fantastic.
I ended up snagging a beautiful Donna Morgan dres for $76 (yay half price rack!) with the seal of approval of one of the lovely gay owners. LOVE. He couldn't stop telling me how good I looked.
And to boot, he told me that the cleaners right next to him does really good tailoring work for reasonable prices. What girl doesn't want to know this lovely nugget of info??
Will I be returning? You better believe. Little boutiques like this are why I LOVE NYC! -

A great boutique. Every time I stop in, I end up walking out with something.
I've found some of my favorite blouses and accessories here. I truly love the costume jewelry here...
The store is small, so, there isn't tons of clothing to choose from, but what is there is unique. I always stop here before I head over to a department store. It is great to have this store in Hell's Kitchen.
The service is friendly and knowledgeable. The merchandise is great, and the vibe is cool... an oasis from the department store grind! -

I visited several months ago and spent over $350 in one sitting. Bought some beautiful dresses and a strapless bra. While I was there, a woman came in and lamented that she'd recently lost one of the earrings she bought there, and now the pair was ruined. They were happy to make another single one for her, and I thought to myself, "wow, now THAT is customer service."
Sadly, I didn't have the same experience. A few days after my purchases, I emailed saying that the bra actually was way too big. I never wore and it's very evident I didn't because it's one of this stick-on-yourself types, and the plastic around the stickiness would have shown. I asked if I could have a refund or store-credit - it's in pristine condition, I have the receipt, I was there less than a week ago.
No answer.
I emailed again a week later. No answer. I tried using my gmail account, thinking maybe it didn't go through on my work email, maybe it was sent to the spam folder.
They just never, ever answered. And I used their gmail listed on Facebook. I never even got a bounce - that would have been a great answer! But no answer is the WORST. In total, I think there are 4 emails before I got the hint that they weren't interested in helping me out. They took my money and my time (the owner chatted with me for over an hour, told me about the cleaners/tailor on the block, invited me to Champagne Thursday, etc.) and won't even acknowledge a "hey, actually everything, including full-price merchandise is final sale" or "hey, stop by and we'll be happy to exchange."
A headband I also bought from them had a missing bead. I can't decide whether it came that way or fell off within a week, but by that time, I figured it was all a lost cause. -

Location: 5 stars. Quiet HK block, just close enough and far enough from everything
Service: 5 stars. Every employee I've met is a calm, tasteful, unpretentious gay man with good, non-pushy opinions.
Selection: 5 stars. The racks are crammed with wearable, stylish duds. Many of my most complimented dresses come from Monarch. Headbands galore. Huge selection of HOBO bags, not a douchy Bloomingdale's tourist in sight.
Look and Feel: 4 stars. A scooch cramped, but I'm happy to endure that for the selection and price.
Price: 5 stars. Seriously people, I usually manage to pay $30-75 for pieces that become inextricable staples from my wardrobe, and a few fancy dresses.
My Heart: beats fast when I'm near 47th street and I have 10 minutes to pop in for a look around.Listed in: My Neighborhood

A cute little boutique - every neighborhood needs one! 5-star service, as everyone else here has already pointed out. I've been here twice and both times, the sales person has been very attentive, helpful and not pushy. It's small, so there's not much selection and they tend to be out of the smaller sizes, but the stuff they have is cute and somewhat affordable. Don't come here for your basics (sweaters, tees, pants, etc). Come here for dressy/day-to-night dresses! They are generally $75-100, but they're unique, high-quality pieces that are definitely worth the price.

Monarch is an amazing boutique, and the only place I ever shop.
The guys that work here, Chad and Drew, have an amazing eye for clothes and have a great selection of clothes that are usually cheaper and have the same look of the designer clothes you get from Bloomingdale's and Scoop at much higher prices. They have everything from work clothes, special occasion clothes (including gorgeous things from Velvet and Maggie London), business casual clothes, to funky party clothes that you can wear in Brooklyn.
Chad and Drew have totally become my stylists - they know my style and will literally pull out clothes for me to try on when I'm there that I ordinarily would never have even noticed on the rack. Some of my best pieces are from these types of recommendations - they always seem to know what will look best for every occasion and for my body type.
They have everything I ever need for work or play - from clothes to lingerie to jewelry to pantyhose to socks to purses to candles....phew! Great place to find gifts for friends and family as well.
The jewelry line, Andrew Hamilton Crawford, is also beautiful and at a range of prices. They also carry work from other local jewelry designers, again at a range of prices. Check this place out! -

This place is a little hidden gem! Great name brand and small designer clothes and jewelry. Prices are a steal. I saw a dress in their shop for $60 that was almost identical to a dress in Lord n Taylor for $150. As if this isn't enough, the lady who was working there was soooo nice and helpful. This shop is the definition of NYC Boutique.

What a great little find! Stayed near here in my trip to the city and loved it! Cute clothes, small space, great find! And the prices were VERY reasonable. The man working (forget his name) was so helpful, I felt like he was my stylist! I will be back the next time I'm in the city.

i love this place - they always have cute stuff that looks similar to what intermix carries for much, much less. they usually have great sales going on for some category of product and can be very unique.
i got a great clutch here (which is a total compliment-getter) and was a bit mixed on whether or not i wanted it, so chad told me i could bring it back if i wanted for a refund (which they don't do). i was stunned but he told me, "the reason i say that is because i know you won't bring it back." and he was right! :D i love, love, love it.
chad is great too - he knows my style (after only 2 visits) and his suggestions are always spot-on. love this place, go visit now! -

Cute boutique whose motto is "Fashion Lives in Hell's Kitchen". Fun items for women and children. I bought a super cute dress from their sale rack for $30 that could easily sell for more in other boutiques.

A gem of a boutique, Monarch is the place to go if you want to get out of the department stores, find something unique, feel special and be styled! The excellent selection, various price points, personal touch, and outstanding customer service will always keep me coming back. I have almost never left the store empty handed, even if I walked in without looking for anything in particular. A plethora of cute dresses, tops, handbags, and unique jewelry awaits in this welcoming, unpretentious shop. Be prepared to have Chad handing you things over the dressing room rail that you didn't even know would look amazing on you! I was quite the regular when I lived in Hell's Kitchen and always go back if I have a free moment in the neighborhood. Or when I know my tip-out was grossly overcalculated and I need to get the cash off my hands before anyone notices...

My favorite boutique in Hells Kitchen. Truly a hidden gem! Most of my wardrobe is from Monarch, Chad and Drew know what styles look good on me and will whip out my favorite pieces from Muse, Maggie London, Soda Blu, and coming soon ... Velvet! They also design and carry Andrew Hamilton Crawford Jewlery!

definitely my go-to place for neighborhood shopping when i'm not in the mood to schlepp over to the east side. the store carries a wide variety of lines, with pieces from soia and kyo, aliro, mm couture, kensie, chevignon and the like. i probably stop by here at least once every two weeks, and i've never left without something fun from one of the dress sale racks.
the space is tiny (i'm not sure more than 5 people could be in there at once). there's only one dressing room. sometimes the salesperson asks too many questions, but all in all a great store off the beaten path. the owner is actually really cool. plus i got a hobo clutch there for 50% off. score. -

I love this place. Lots of different price points and one-of-a-kind items. Only problem is, I can't walk in and not walk out with a cute dress, tunic, or top for myself! Also great for gifts--lots of cute lingerie, jewelry, and handbags. I live a block away--VERY dangerous!!:) My favorite place to shop for clothes in the neighborhood by far.
