Review from Jonny D.
Best sushi I've ever had! Even at fancy $20+ per plate restaurants, this little hole-in-the-wall delivers better, fresher fish and bigger portions for MUCH less $$$ (how about $6 for a huge bento box with rolls, nigiri, sashimi, salad and delicious grilled salmon & rice dish.
Highly recommended! A++++++++++++++++++++++ -

I really enjoyed the sunomono salad with clam.
The fish I ordered was decent but nothing memorable.
I might try this place again because it's close to home, but it wasn't very memorable the first time. -
Review from Daniel L.
Seeking a new Sushi cafe I found this gem on Yelp, located a few feet off Robson on Bidwell across from Guu... Nice surprise of fresh giant Nigiri Sushi, & Bento options..
Walking in I had the joint to myself (hmmmm) but sticking to my Yelper grand reviews I sat down... The two chefs chatting waiting for orders told me to wait til the girl came back to take my orders... I'm not waiting you guys can take my order.. they seemed like they didnt want to work..BUT I was wrong, My orders came quick and surprisingly very appealing... and when the girl-hostess slowed up she laid on me: a comp soba soup and delicious appi.
This place is an easy 5 star for food, 3 star for communication... But what the heck they will get me back through the doors as it was just like a visiting a tiny tokyo sushi bar, little english and yummy tasty fresh sushi -

The only positive attribute of this sushi spot is its cheap...and that represents itself in the quality of the food. A definite miss - don't let the complimentary miso soup lure you in.

A tiny little hole in the wall but absolutely delicious. I got two rolls for $9 which is less than what I would have paid for 1 roll in the US. The fish was fresh and they had some great combinations. More of a take out place but they have a few seats and offer free tea and soup with the meal. What a great find and within walking distance of my hotel.

Great quality, and super cheap. The rolls aren't really anything to write home about, but they taste good and fresh. The gomae is awesome, and the sashimi is top notch. There's a big pot of tea ready near the cash register to grab, and they give you free soup and complimentary rolls when you get there. How sweet is that?

Delicious! I visited this place after finding out it is the same as the owner of Jagalch on Denman. I didn't expect it to be as good, but don't let the looks deceive you! This place is just as delicious, and quality. The prices are cheaper than Jagalch but I think that it is solely reflecting the restaurant itself - it's a lot less romantic/ not as optimal location. But still, no thrown together 'sushi' with old tempura (yuck)- I honestly felt as though the sushi chefs took pride in their masterpieces. I don't live nearby but it is worth the trip over there! Fantastic service too, friendly and helpful staff.

I love Momo Sushi House. it's small but the price is good and I love the sushi. The sashimi portions are generous. I love the seaweed salad. This is my fave sushi place yet! Jonny D was right when he said that the taste of this sushi is awesome and as good or better than the expensive places, even though it's a hole-in-the-wall type place. For 8 bucks I am stuffed, for 6 something I can have my all-time favourite lunch. The staff are friendly and I like how you can help yourself to free hot tea.

This is, without a doubt, our go-to place when we are in desperate need of japanese food, but we don't want to walk to Samurai @ Davie! The service is relatively warm for such a tiny shop - complimentary sushi bites are a nice gesture!

I don't know why I haven't review momo sushi until now. We've been eating there for about 2 years now and they have yet to disappoint.
You can't go wrong with a Box B... salad, rice with teriyaki salmon, 3 pieces of salmon and tuna sashimi (that's 3 pieces of each people!!!), 1 salmon & 1 tuna nigiri, 3 piece spicy tuna roll... All for $6-7!
Once after ordering takeout I tripped outside.. bag of 2 Box B's goes flying... still contained in the bag but a total disaster. The waitress call me back inside and they gave me a fresh order.
Can't beat that.
We've tried a few other things on the menu and everything is cheap and delicious.
The staff is always friendly and cheerful and we never have to wait long for our food. -

I wish I stepped inside earlier as I seemed to pass this place more than 20 times during my stay. I'm still in AWE of the value pricing and quality of Food offered here. Hole-in-the-Wall makes this even better.
I would consider this a 1st Date location as I find it quite suitable.
1. Girls love Sushi/Sashimi
2. Affordable for Guys paying the Meal
3. Sushi are 1 to 1.5 Big Bites(Get to see how Girl looks with Full mouth)
4. Small place so get snug and cozy with one another :D
5. Beautiful Multi-color Bento with WOW factor.
For the concept, they match nicely otherwise I would have complained that the Sushi/Nigiri pieces are too large a bite and the Tuna still had slight icy frost to it. I can totally forgive them for that when I see the low cost of the Receipt.
Even the Salad was good with some Glass Vermicelli hidden underneath. What I like best is that they didn't serve me a big heaping mount of Plain Rice. The amount of FISH served is surprising, how do they profit? The portion size served was perfect for Lunch or for the rest of you it can suit for Dinner too.Listed in: 4+ ****Stars****, Vancouver'ing for the Week

Review from James C.
I was craving Japanese food and I read about how seafood in Vancouver would be fresh and delicious...decided to try Momo Sushi House out based upon other reviews and fellow Yelpers. The restaurant itself is really small, not that it mattered for me because I ordered takeout. What sold this place for me was also the price. They have Box A, Box B, and Box C (amongst many other choices) which was VERY affordable ($5.95), filling AND SO GOOD! Originally, I ordered Box B, but they ran out of the spicy tuna so I opted for Box A (California rolls, with everything else remaining constant). The employee was so cute and funny because she ran out of the shop to catch up to me and let me know...it was really no problem at all! It happens! The next night for dinner, I was craving more sashimi so I went in and ordered the chirashi bowl ($9.95). The same employee was working and she remembered, which I thought was very cool considering from what I saw both times, there is a lot of foot traffic coming in and out to order sushi. The following night, well you guessed it...I went back to order some more from this restaurant...ordered my Box B! If you're still keeping track, 3 nights = 3 dinners from Momo Sushi House...great place, highly affordable, and delicious!

Went here twice to order take out as we were staying in Downtown Vancouver. The lady taking orders was very nice and greeted us both times with a smile. We ordered the platter A, Alaska combo, and a grilled salmon teriyaki don the first time around. The second time we came back, we had an unagi don, sushi combo, and a red dragon roll. Fish was fresh both times and very tasty. They were also generous with the portions on the donburis.
While waiting, we noticed that the inside is very small, but I've never seen people needing to wait for a seat while we waited the 10-15 minutes for our food. -

Food
Think big and simple, this compares with the typical sushi restaurants in downtown. The menu has all the usual rolls, udon's, dons etc. What I like about this place, the portions are big and the quality of the food was good and fresh.
The rainbow row I ordered was huge, it was the size of a subway 6" sub at $6 it was a decent deal. It came with a small sample of scallops and spicy tuna sprinkled with a bit of seaweed and sesame seeds. The combo we had was the usual fare, tuna roll, scallop roll, with a side of scallops and spicy tuna. I recommend the sashimi it was fresh and the portions are big, a little smaller than your iphone.
Atmosphere
If you want a quick bite, this is your place. This place is cramped and the decor includes plastic stools that looked like they were purchased from Daiso. If you want to cheapen any room just add cheap plastic furniture.
Recommendation:
This restaurant makes my take-out list, perfect on a Wednesday night when you are too lazy to cook. -

I've come here during my breaks (sometimes after work) to grab some food, so I'll say I've come here less than 10 times probably. Started coming here since they opened, and the place is very tiny. For those of you who can't see it, it's right around the corner from Starbucks.
The service here is incredibly friendly even if they don't speak English perfectly well. The service has also gone much faster than when they just opened.
The food is decent for the price you pay. It's not the best, but it's not horrible. I usually get the avocado roll and yam tempura roll cause I'm a veggie. The avocado roll in the beginning was HUGE, like it was comparable to Samurai's.. and then it got a lot smaller? They have the BEST yam tempura roll ever. It's not incredibly oily, like they were when they just opened, and they sometimes either add in cucumber strips or lettuce. It's REALLY good. Must try, but don't attempt to fit one whole piece into your mouth, you can't, hahaha.
The food is really cheap. I know for each of those rolls it's like 2.50 compared to the other places where's it's at least 3.00 or more for about half the size.
Definitely come back for food if you're on a half hour break or more. Love Momo's! -
Review from Alice A.
Hmm, today's lunch didn't please me like it did the first time. Maybe it was the cut of salmon sashimi they served, maybe it was the loud English music they were blasting... slight diminishing return.

It may not be fancy. It may not be the best sushi in town. It has odd rubbermaid stools to sit on feels like a breakroom at a factory but the portions are HUGE!!! & Cheap you can for ten bucks eat for 2 days. The staff is great and very friendly. it is more like street food sushi.
