Review from Amy G.
Welcome to the best ice cream in Seattle. It's true. I always get the plain-ol Theo Chocolate with a heaping amount of hot fudge. Life isn't much better than that. I'm not that adventurous, I'll admit, but at the suggestion of the woman next to me I tried the vegan coconut chunk. It was GOOD and I don't like coconut. That says something, I think.
Anyway, the staff is super friendly, moving at TOP speed because of the volume of customers, and know what they're doing. Great place to go to in Seattle for visitors and residents. -

After reading about this place, I couldn't wait to visit. After visiting, I wish I would not have wasted the time or money.
We walked in to a long line, got in it and stood there for about 10 minutes while 2 people tried to help everyone. We thought they were just short staffed. When we were almost to the counter, one of the girls went and sat down to take a break and enjoy her ice cream, leaving one person to handle it all.
When we finally got to the counter, we asked to sample a couple of the flavors since we had never been here before. She quickly handed us spoons, along with a look that said "I've got a line here people, just pick something". So we did. I've never felt so rushed to pick anything before. Truly terrible customer service.
On to the ice cream: I had the strawberry buttermilk, which tasted like an icier version of Breyer's strawberry. No balsamic flavor, and not much strawberry flavor either. My husband had the salty caramel, which tasted like burnt sugar. Although it was burnt tasting it was slightly creamier than the strawberry, but still did not have a great texture.
To top it off, as we were sitting in the store not enjoying our ice cream, the girl who sat down to take a break *and* the guy she was sitting with both got up to get back to work when there was no line to speak of.
If you're looking for amazing ice cream and great customer service, then you want to avoid Molly Moon's. -

Molly Moon's smells amazing...I'm guessing it's the waffle cones they make there but it smells like doughnuts to me. They make local, artisan, handmade ice cream and offer 10 regular flavors (e.g., honey lavender, maple walnut, salted caramel, vanilla bean, balsamic strawberry) and 4 seasonal flavors (e.g., meyer lemon, honey rose sorbet, cherry cream soda). You can buy pints ($5.50), sundaes, milkshakes, and banana splits. The gourmet toppings include cajeta, vanilla bean caramel, lemon curd, thin mint crumble, and bergamot infused oil.
Prices: Kid's scoop ($2.25)/ Single scoop ($3.45)/ double scoop ($5)/ triple scoop ($6.50)
* Stumptown coffee: really strong coffee flavor with tiny coffee grounds, thick, creamy, stiff
* Earl grey: huge scoop, nice dense, thick, firm and creamy texture, sweet with subtle delicate flavor of earl grey, could use a little stronger tea flavor
The space is small and charming. They sell cute ice cream cone hoodies and t-shirts. Their paper ice cream cup reminds me of fro-yo cup.Listed in: Space Needle City, Gelato or ice cream?

the all raved salted caramel is pretty good - but intense. after a couple tastes it just gets overwhelming, all you taste is salty burnt sugar.
now, im a vegan, but every once in a while i have some dairy, so i tried the salted caramel as my dairy option and then the chunky coconut vegan flavor.
lets jus say the vegan chunky coconut is TERRIBLE.
...and i LIKE coconut, so im not saying its terrible because of the coconut flavor, the texture and over all flavor with the chocolate is just bad. its hard, not creamy at all, do not order this.
however, their ice cream cones are VERY GOOD. light and crispy, really saved my overall ice cream cone.
but come on, i would rather go to yogurtland any day over this place, so if you really want creamy and flavorful "ice cream" go to YOGURTLAND. you will get more, pay less and their stuff is fat free! -

The owner has a sense of entitlement that is as salty as her Salted Caramel Ice Cream! She treats employees like garbage in front of customers and feels so entitled that she can park her mobile truck in front of other local Ice Cream shops? No stank you Molly! You suck! Boycott! Bluebird a few blocks away has better ice cream and no pretension! The one star is for the quality vendors like Theo and Vivace that make her best flavors.

Review from Sarah M.
This is some of the best ice cream that I've had in the city. The line was out the door on a chilly spring evening - but totally worth the wait and suffering through standing behind a group of guys with bad gas.
They had all sorts of interesting flavors ranging from honey lavender to Theo Chocolate. I had the balsamic strawberry because I wanted to try something different - and I really liked it a lot. I've had strawberries with balsamic reduction before but never on ice cream. I'm a definite fan!
Everything is homemade and their waffle cones are delish! $3.75 for a single scoop - but it's a generous one and totally worth it! -

First prize for the sickest like mean and rude sick manager in town. It was a hot day so I came in saying I was thirsty but wanted ice cream, too. I ordered a bottled water and vanilla ice cream and handed her a 20. She proceeded to reorganize the cash drawer and I asked her if I could go ahead and have my water since I was really thirsty. She smiled and said nastily that she was the manager and would give me my order when she got done. She went on futzing in the drawer so I asked for my 20 back. She took her time about that. As I left she glowingly called out to have a nice day, laughing with her employee. Go out of business I'm sure you will. I was there once before and the chocolate ice cream tasted like vanilla. Maybe cause they let a dog eat it first. Maybe it's a dog ice cream store.

Mind Blowing Obama-Blowi-Riding-A-Rainbow-Unicorn GREAT! I've never gotten Full on ice cream before, however my $4.75 hand-crafted waffle-cone of Salted Caramel was the size of an SF burrito and I almost couldn't finish it. Not because it wasn't The Most Delicious Ice Cream I've Ever Eaten, but because there was So Much! Generous portions, OUTSTANDING Salted Caramel! Bi-Rite Ice Creamery of SF, you've got some serious Competition at the World Ice Cream Comp!

Delicious, fancy flavors. $3.40 a scoop
Monkey do:
VEGAN COCONUT CHUNK - Awesome! Must get more and more and more!
STUMPTOWN COFFEE - Monkey may have possibly gotten a buzz from this one.
THEO CHOCOLATE - Mixed with above, it's richness complemented each perfectly.
Do drop in and find your new favorite ice cream. Very very tempting to go crazy and get it in the freshly made waffle cone made here. Helpful staff will offer samples of each with a smile. Seating in the window so you can show everyone outside you have ice cream and they do not. -

I have no complaints about the server and the wait was not bad at all, the ice cream on the other hand... This is not good ice cream. I sampled the Scout Mint and ordered the Honey Lavender. Neither was palatable (Scout Mint was too sweet and the lavender in Honey Lavender was overpowering), but the real issue is the texture. High quality ice cream should be dense and creamy, this had the consistency of a whipped sorbet, and my pallet could barely detect the dairy in it at all. Even soft-serve is thicker than this.

As good (and pricey) as the ice cream is, the wait staff should match the quality of their product.
I visited on Sunday evening, March 4, with children who wanted to sample and change their minds. Wait person had no patience, no smile, and no "thank you". Instead I received the ice cream slammed into the holder because it wasn't accepted from her fast enough. A rude experience. -
Review from Clover A.
I just don't get it, folks.
Yes, some of the flavors are unique and a few I tried (Earl Grey, Lavender) were notably good but the rest are not really what I'd expect from a gourmet ice cream shop.
Don't tell me Balsamic Strawberry and mean Strawberry (who once passed a Balsamic Vinegar bowl on it's way to the freezer) or Salted Caramel that is really SALTED (with a hint of Caramel.)
Yet, night after night, the line is out the door. Right down the block, Bluebird isn't that busy, but the ice cream is FAR superior. What gives, peeps?
And Bluebird's is made from scratch. Yup, MM isn't. I had another business owner say "If I put in Mrs. Smith's Apple Pies in the case and called them mine, would that be fair?"
Not only not fair, but I'd never return because the quality isn't the same, right?
I will go to MM's but only if I am curious again to try a particular new flavor.
Otherwise, I'll take my business to Bluebird or Full Tilt.Listed in: Frozen Goodness

Molly Moon's is a great place for decent quality traditional style ice cream. Not over the top good but very decent quality and some interesting flavours. My favourites are Rosemary Meyer Lemon and Balsamic Strawberry. They also have great milkshakes.
The decor is modern and simple and the branding and concept is solid. They have 3 locations as well as an Ice Cream Truck.
Overall worth the trip. -
Review from Suie C.
The EARL GREY tea flavor is AMAZING.
It tastes like bubble tea (the milk tea, not the fruity types)!
As always, they provide samples so you can pick your flavors and the line moves at a decent rate. -
Review from Wendy M.
I have reviewed Molly Moon's Wallingford location and my Fiancé and I are fans for life, but selection sometimes vary by location and had to re-route East for their Maple Bacon!
Service is "ok" at every location, interior is warm and yummy and as far as the ice cream, well...It really doesn't matter who or where we get it, we'd travel to the end of the world just to get some!
Top Picks: Honey Lavender, Vivace Coffee and Maple Bacon. -
Review from Erin H.
There really isn't much I can say...you absolutley must go! There are selections of the weirdest ice cream flavors you've ever heard of (my top favorite is hands down: the Balsalmic Strawberry with the Balsalmic Reduction sauce) and theres also some pretty basic-plain-Jane-normal flavors for the less adventurous icecreamers. The Maple Bacon - HAS real bacon bits in it! Lavender, earl grey, scout mint, theo chocolate, salted peanut are just some of the flavors. Beware there are some seasonal ones though, so get them while they're hot 'r cold!

There has to be something said for an ice cream parlor that has a line out the door every day even when it's located in the tundra of the Arctic North.
Simply put, it's because Molly Moon's is so delicious. It's original flavors never disappoint; my favorite is the maple walnut in a waffle cone. I am also a huge fan of Stumptown coffee. I've never had some of the more adventurous flavors like strawberry balsamic and lavender honey, but I'd venture to say they are yummy.
There is usually some seating inside, whether it's a wooden bench or bar seating at the window, so you don't have to freeze outside while enjoying your icy treat. -

$3 for the single scoop or $5 for a pint?
You do the math. -
Review from Joyce J.
The staff was friendly. I got the thai tea because it was a seasonal flavor. I used to really like Molly Moon's for its exotic flavors until I had Bluebird Ice Cream. That's when I realized that I really like ice creams more for its creaminess. Still a solid ice cream place but I would recommend that people look deep inside themselves and determine whether they like ice creams for flavor or for the texture. If you like ice cream for the texture, go to Bluebird. If you like ice cream for flavor, t hen come to Molly Moon's.

Today, I walked home in the snow eating delicious Molly Moon's in my hand.
Honey Lavender and/or Earl Grey with Girl Scout Thin Mints in homemade waffle cone FTW!! Also, stocked up on chapstick (Molly Moon's homemade chapsticks are the best).
Vivace Coffee comes in a close second. Satisfies without fail. -

Every time I return to Seattle, I ALWAYS crave for molly moon's!
Not only is the ice cream there amazing (!!) I also LOVE the interior decor and setup, you can definitely feel the creativity and you will definitely leave exuding with love/passion for ice cream haha
smooth
just-right creamy
refreshing
original
tasty
did I mention smoooooth?
What more can you ask for in an ice cream?? Almost all the flavors are yummy and it gets me coming back everytime!
The lines can tend to get long, luckily the times I've gone it was never out the door but the shop is small, so if you want to get your ice cream fix, devise a strategic plan and avoid the crowds! -

Review from Erich D.
I love ice cream and I'll even eat it when it's cold which is what I did on my latest visit to Seattle. Temperature outside was approximately 35 degrees Fahrenheit, but that didn't deter me and a number of other patrons from entering and ordering a couple scoops of ice cream.
The salted caramel caught my eye instantly. Would it/Could it stand up to Bi-Rite's in SF? I sampled it and it fell a bit short, this one was actually a bit more on the salty side and tasted a lot like those soft and chewy caramel candies. I decided to go with a two-scoop cup consisting of one scoop of Scout mint and another of the maple walnut. How can you not like and resist an ice cream that has Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies mixed into it? Yeah, it was good. The maple walnut flavor was another light but tasty sweet flavored ice cream.
It's open until pretty darn late at night which is a definitely a plus.Listed in: Space Needles and tree needles

I'm definitely loving the cold weather because cold weather = no long lines! :D
I tried really hard to think of what makes Molly Moon's so delicious, and you know what, maybe it's the milk (and the rest of the ingredients)? Great milk comes from happy cows that aren't given hormones. And great ingredients come from local/organic farms.
Maple walnut is so delicious. So nutty and gooooood. -

Every time I come here, there's always a line out the door! I'm not complaining, because it just shows how GOOD their ice cream is! I love that they have unique flavors such as salted caramel, scout mint, honey lavender, strawberry balsamic, etc. Unique. They'll have the seasonal items (even more unique) every so often, so check back often. When I'm not in Cap Hill, I stop by the smaller (lesser known) spot that carries MM's ice cream, which is the Chocolate Box. They have the same flavors, but with a much short line!

I love, love, love Molly Moon's Ice cream. It will definitely be one of the things that I miss the most about Seattle after I move back to Denver. I always go for a salted Carmel and Maple nut double scoop. Nice combo of salty and sweet! Now, get thee to Molly Moon's.

Love their chocolate milkshakes. Despise their ice cream.
I wouldn't go in here for the longest time because I got sick on their salted caramel ice cream and their sorbet tasted like undilluted concentrated freezer juice. It was the level of sick that traumatizes and creates long-lasting neuroses. But, after having their ice cream at another restaurant as part of a chocolate milkshake, it became an obsession. The chocolate tastes like a darker chocolate, so the milkshake has a deeper, slightly more bitter flavor that I absolutely love. There's absolutely NO Hersey's syrup super-sweet in this milkshake and I can tell that the ingredients are a good quality.
I'm afraid to eat any of their ice cream still. And im not all that excited over the overly capitol hill-ish people that work behind the counter. But I have my needs. So I go in and order the milkshake when I'm on this part of the hill. Then I run out before anything bad happens.
I will mention though that the smell of cooking waffle cones that this place always has makes me not really care that I'd been poisoned those previous times. If that scent were bottled, I'd happily drown in a huge vat of it. -
Review from Sean C.
I remember when Molly Moon's was not an empire. Now, a few years later, it is a polished, local, granola, vegan-accommodating empire with mobile and fixed locations and is far too smooth (see the decor in this location) to pretend otherwise, but an empire nonetheless. Ben and Jerry's had to start out somewhere too.
While I wish them success, the ice cream is largely too heavy for me - it feels like a lighter form of a Starbucks Frappucino which in turn feels like a lighter form of how I imagine cocaine feels, except cheaper (although as they raise prices, not by much...)
I highly recommend going no larger than the single ($3.40) and splitting it with two flavors. It's still a bit more than the right amount of each given the richness but it's the best compromise. Why come here with many choices if I'm not in love? They have a few flavors which I've been hard-pressed to match in deliciousness elsewhere.
My flavors? Cardamom, pumpkin clove, and the curry sorbets - all rotating limited-time treats. The honey lavender does in a pinch for a second flavor to complement any of them. If none of those are in season, I generally head to Bluebird a few blocks away out of the core instead for a less guilty pleasure and a bit more neighborhood grit.
Unless you've been living under a rock or have never walked or driven by any of the locations in decent weather and seen the long lines, you've probably heard of Molly Moon's. If you haven't, it's worth trying but not when there's a substantial wait. I'm not sure how this will end, but hopefully the anti-corporate motherland won't disown their child solely due to its success, although that would mean quicker local ice cream...Listed in: Overrated

Review from Alexandra S.
Excellent, creamy texture and interesting flavors like balsamic strawberry and earl grey, as well as basics. Their Theo Chocolate is one of the best chocolates I have had anywhere -- really rich and chocolatey without being grainy, and not too sweet. Salted caramel is quite salty and delicious. Very exotic topping options if you want to try a sundae with bergamot oil and sea salt.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream
A bit on the saltier side, but its still yummy! I think I'd probably be better to combine vanilla or chocolate with the salted caramel. Having it by itself was a bit too much. The waffle was so good with the ice cream! -

All the best superlatives have been used to describe this place and I'm in full agreement.
I've found their sorbets to be helpful and tasty when I'm monitoring calories and dairy products intake. -
Review from Aaron W.
I was told that you can order up to two flavors in a single scoop, so I went with their maple walnut ice cream and their spice cider sorbet (the latter being a fall seasonal flavor). I paid $3.78 (this is including tax).
This was a great combination to get. For the maple walnut, the maple flavor immediately came out on the vanilla ice cream base. I appreciated the large chunks of walnuts in the ice cream, although I think chopping the walnuts into smaller pieces (allowing for more nuts in each bite) is the better way to go.
On the spiced cider sorbet, I loved the "apple-y" and spicy blast in this one. It's a light (and I assume dairy-free) option that refreshed the palate and very fall-appropriate.
I sampled some of the other flavors, including Theo Chocolate, Scout Mint, Earl Grey, and the seasonal Georgetown Porter. All were fantastic!
Unfortunately, Molly Moon's doesn't ship their ice cream, citing "locavore ethics." But if you're in the Seattle area, check out Molly Moon's food truck or any of their five ice cream shops for a great ice cream experience! -
Review from Sam C.

Homemade ice cream is just too good -- why would you ever eat anything otherwise?
I love the vibe of this small ice cream shop, a bit hipster (and pretentious) but the ice cream speaks for itself. And! the smell of fresh waffle cones engrossing your nostrils doesn't hurt either. I'm not a particular fan of the earl grey and lavender flavors, but I can see why people do. The coffee flavor is perhaps the best coffee ice cream I've ever had -- chunks of espresso, creamy texture, and I believe they use Caffe Vita coffee too. All their ice cream is very creamy and consistent in texture. Doesn't taste processed or artificial. Can't wait to go back to Seattle for this! -
Review from Minh D.
Delicious home made style ice cream! They may not win in the variety department, but their flavors definitely makes up for it. It's difficult for me to compare ice cream shops because I'm an ice cream lover and they're all good. However Molly Moon's is up there with the best of them.
A small cup of Honey Lavender ice cream was all I needed to hit the spot. It was smooth, creamy bliss in my mouth. I held it in my mouth until it melted for maximum flavor absorption.
The Capitol Hill location isn't too crowded and there was no lines when I arrived here in the afternoon. -
Review from Jason P.
By the menu, Molly Moon's serves some exciting homemade ice cream flavors: balsamic strawberry, theo chocolate, honey lavender, salted caramel, scout mint, earl grey, georgetown porter sorbet and more. If the name of a flavor gets you confused, ask for a free sample to try.
We wound up getting a kid's scoop ($2.25) of Theo Chocolate, which the portion turned out to be slightly larger than your average ice cream scooper. Theo Chocolate turned out to be your average chocolate flavor but with a smooth, almost velvety finish. It was good but by no means something worth raving about.
It turned out that we all thought that Molly Moon's serves some standard ice cream that is not very memorable. I, for one, rather go for a Ben & Jerry's or Blue Bunny ice cream from the frozen section in a supermarket. -

I love Molly Moon's! My favorite flavors are the honey lavender and the salted caramel. Mmmm. Pure decadence.
I prefer this shop over the shop in Wallingford as it has more seating and is more spacious. Employees are friendly. Prices are a little expensive ($3.80 with tax for one scoop- and that's without a cone) but I think it's worth it for a once in awhile treat!Listed in: Favorites, Sweet Treats
