This place is really good. I have done hot yoga before and have had totally different experiences depending on the instructor. This male instructor (didnt get his name) was awesome, experienced and understanding for people that could not do some poses. It was quiet, relaxing, difficult and very hot. There was a nice mixture of people too, from 20-60 making it less pretentious and less intimidating. I will definitely return if I am ever in the area again!

Now this is a beautiful yoga studio! It's in an old building complete with creaky hardwood floors, high ceilings, and antiquey details throughout.
I attended a 60 minute moksha class with my passport to prana. I was greeted at the large, welcoming reception desk by a very friendly gentleman who directed me to fill out a standard waiver and grqciously processed my passport. He then introduced me to my instructor, who gave me a run down about studio etiquette, where to find change rooms, and what to expect in class - a nice touch. Every studio is different and it's never nice to worry about where to find things.
The change room was great! Nice and bright, lots of space, and many hooks on the walls for... well... for hanging things. No lockers, which always makes me twitchy - i'm the kind of oerson who gets nervous checking luggage, so I definitely hate leaving my wallet/iphone in a change room. Anyway. The showers are communal, which is fine by me, but might make some folks uncomfortable. There's mirror space for post-class prepping and the studio provides a blow dryer, complete with attachments (yay diffuser!)
The practice space is the same kind of bright, creaky and lovely room as the rest of the studio. Lots of windows let in lovely sunlight, which I strongly prefer over the darkness of many hot yoga places. The standard bank of mirrors along one wall. I must say that the creaking floors were less charming and more annoying in here, but that's a small quibble.
The class itself reminded me that I hate the pattern, routine, and dogma that accompany yoga 'systems'. I am particularly annoyed when instructors say things like "... And this pose allows fresh new blood to flow through the (insert body part here)" . . . You know that our blood is always circulating? Right? That it becomes 'fresh' by being filled with oxygen multiple times each minute? That nowhere in the body is there just a pool of stagnant blood waiting for some magical yoga pose to release it? Blood's whole job is to transport things - by definition it is always moving. Drives me bananas.
I loved the studio so much I almost wish I enjoyed the class. But I didn't. I'll stick to my flowy, free form hot yoga classes, thanks.Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge!, Passport to prana!

I was looking for Moksha Yoga Bloor West along Bloor Street... Since this part of town is not my territory.. while kept admiring all the restaurants, bakeries and coffee places.. by the time I walked to 2454 Bloor.. I saw a convenience store.. I thought I walked right by. or I mixed up the numbers again!! Luckily I saw someone with a mat, stalking her I found the side entrance to the studio!
The waiting area is spacious.. and I love how they renovate the space to suit their need and keeping the character of the building. The receptionist was nice and makes me feel really welcome!
I love how there are 2 rooms.. one heated and one for room temperature yoga. I decided on a restorative yoga class instead of a heated class. There are tons of props in the room for use and it was so relaxing to have a class where I can just closed my eyes and breath for almost 90% of the class time...
The only complain is about the showers situation... This is the only studio I been to where there are no shower curtains/doors!! So basically you are taking a shower in full view of everyone.... I think I do prefer a little privacy....
Busy Busy studio!! It can be a zoo in between classes.. but busy is always a good sign that the studio is doing something right!! -

I love this place!
I had my first hot yoga experience (well, actually, it was my first time doing any sort of yoga) here about a year ago. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to handle the heat, but the staff was very happy to answer all my questions and made me feel a lot less nervous prior to the class.
I was very relieved that not everyone in the class was a pro. People were all different levels, but it definitely felt as though we were all just there to enjoy the class and make the most of it. There wasn't any judgement for those of us who were just starting out.
During the class they come around and help you if you're not quite in the correct positions. You can tell them beforehand if you'd prefer that they just leave you be, but I found this to be very helpful.
My first class was a very positive experience and I have returned to this yoga studio (and also their location at Yonge and Sheppard) several times.
I would highly recommend it for beginners. They also have classes on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons that are cheaper. However, keep in mind that these classes fill up quickly, so get there early! -

I love this place!! I especially love Moniques classes who teaches on Mondays. The studio is clean and the staff is friendly. I would give it 5 but it is pricey, as most yoga studios.
What I like the best is that they offer 1 hour classes. Sometimes you just can't make time or the full 90 minutes.
Moksha is perfect for the person who is nervous about hot yoga. The poses are not as intense and quick as Bikram. You sweat like crazy but probably will not feel dizzy.
They also offer yoga for kids on certain days. -

Awesome Moksha location.
This is pretty much one of my new favourite yoga studios. The staff is super nice, and helpful. They even picked up all the yoga mats after class so the other yogis wouldn't be disturbed if you left during the final rest.
It's a perfect location by the high park area, with plenty of shops to explore before and after class.
The studio itself is one of the largest I've seen in a while. Too many times have I been in cramped dark change rooms. This entire studio is very bright, spacious and full of windows. The shower, although communal, is huge.
I took a Hot Moksha class and my instructor, Diane had a phenomenal voice for yoga. It was strong but empowered, a terrific asset for someone in the career of motivation. She was incredibly funny, constantly sprinkling the hour with captivating anecdotes. The other students in the class seemed hooked on her every word and thoroughly entertained.Listed in: Yoga Fire!

My very first hot yoga experience and I have to admit: I liked it A LOT.
I was resisting to this hot yoga trend because I don't like to sweat, I don't like heat, so I basically hate the soul of hot yoga, right? IT'S MEANT TO BE HOT AND MAKE YOU MELT.
Well, I could deal with the heat, my instructor asked me lots of questions and made sure I had a towel and a water bottle before starting the class, and emphasized that I should lay down and rest if I felt tired or weird at some point (it wasn't necessary, thought, as I wisely chose a shorter version of Moksha, 60min only)
They rent towels and lend water bottles, and have a bright and clean (yet communal) shower room, with free antibacterial soap. The studio is amazingly clean and smells fresh.
The location is great, steps from a subway (Jane) and there are plenty of bike posts in front of it.
It's not a cheap place, but you can get a first month pass for $40. -

Love yoga? You need to try hot yoga!
Moksha on Bloor was the first hot yoga studio I have been to and I am hooked!
I sweat until my fingers get pruney and I am more flexible. You wont find a cheaper class too - $5.00 for 90 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays at 3PM.
The practice is with a student teacher who has just graduated and there is a senior teacher there to help you with positions etc.
But the intensity of the practice is perfect for all levels and having a different teacher each time really keeps it interesting, as each teacher has a different style.
The decor is divine! Mats, aluminum water bottles and towels can be rented. -

This has got to be super close to the my top yoga studio in my books. It met my criteria, except for a few.... let's see...
- Easy checkin, friendly folks - YEP
- water for sale, water bottles, mat rental - YEP
- drinking water available - YEP in the bathroom
- ample changeroom space without bumping into sweaty bodies - YEP , they did a really good job optimizing the space in there. There was at least 20 people in there, and didn't feel squished at all. Liked the added island in the middle for more storage space
- good decor - YEP really like the patterned porcelain sinks
- perks - YEP - hair dryer with different attachments, hair ties to take
- shower curtains/doors - NOPE. I saw many a naked body today. (2 showers but use at your own risk. The one at the back you can't see, but the one closer to the front is a free for all
- toilets clean - YEP
- studio big and spacious - YEP, fit about 27 people comfortably. probably 40 ppl squishy-ly
- cork floors - NOPE - i like cork floors better cuz it's somewhat mushy and better for standing and it doesn't smell
- clean room before going in - YEP
- ceiling fans and instructor turns it on near end of class - YEP I like that because it dries me off a little but I think she turned it out too early (not even lying down yet)
also, she had a temperature gauge on her at all times
- instructor good, helpful, and concentrated on alignment - YEP
- mirrors - YEP
- did not allow bags inside - YEP and the reception ensured me nothing will get stolen, sometimes I don't believe that because what about the people inside?
- lockers - NOPE
- parking - YEP on street 6 spaces free, or $4 across the street in lot, or in the back for $3.00 for 1.5 hrs
- subway - YEP Jane (i think)
I also saw a girl there with her very asian parents for the first time. they seemed to be some what comfortable. That means something right!!
I'm definitely coming back!! Great neighbourhood placeListed in: Om.........Namaste, Laura's Award of Excellence -…

I went back to practice today and some good news and not-so-good news. The good news is the water pressure in the shower seems to be back to normal. They also finished the last bits of construction and there's now a nice sitting room area. Bad news is the practice room does not seem to heat up. There's a sign that says that they're figuring out the "variants in the room temperature". Regardless, I still enjoy this studio when I'm motivated for a heated practice.
