What are the key elements to an  ideal hamburger experience? The simple burger has been revamped and rehashed so many times that the varieties of toppings and accouterments are endless. It has been lowered in quality and sold for bargain basement prices, slapped alongside cold french fries and discounted with processed cheeses. But that is not a  true hamburger, it is merely its over-processed counterpart. My motto has always been to keep it simple and if you can impress me with fewer ingredients of quality and substance, you will have an ideal burger experience to offer.

I present to you, Moderne Burger. In a quaint strip of Broadway in Kitsilano, Moderne Burger has been making their burgers, fries, and milkshakes from scratch for years and they are a Vancouver culinary staple. Their simplistic approach brings forth the true meaning of a great burger. Simple hand made steak burgers made fresh daily. No preservatives to be found, no fillers to bulk it up, and no seasoning to distract from what the best burger stands for. They have branched out from beef to also offer a ground turkey, veggie, or wild salmon filet option as well.

A towering plate of fresh hand cut fries and our piping hot burgers are brought out to us looking devilishly good. The owner takes a moment to explain a tried and true technique for getting the most of your burger including handling instructions and an excellent tip to create a raft of fries below your burger on the plate. Resting your dripping burger on the fries allows the beefy drippings to fall between them and keep your burger bun crisp and dry. Your reward is beef basted fries that soak up the juice and flavor of your burger. The toppings are custom selected by you, mine was a bacon, cheddar, mushroom burger and it was loaded and amazing. The fries take me right back to growing up, when my dad would use an old tool that looked like a potato masher on its side and would slide the fresh garden potatoes into neat fries for frying. The only thing that could make my fry experience substantially better would be gravy. A homemade rich beefy gravy that would compliment the fries.

Aside from the 50's diner decor and quaint airy atmosphere, there is one thing that makes a lunch or dinner here so worth it. CHOCOLATE CHERRY MILKSHAKE...amazing! Probably the best milkshake I have had in this city thus far. Exploding with flavor and a rich and creamy companion to my burger and fries. The perfect dessert style beverage to top this meal.

Please remember, the opinions expressed here are those that belong to the author.

Confucius was on a quest for an honest man. I'm on a quest for the perfect burger.  Such quest did not end at Moderne Burger. Alas, it continues.

I had the regular burger; tasty, just not as juicy or delicious as I had hoped.   If there were any spices in the burger, I could not tell.

To call it a burger is not an unfair statement to all other burgers.  It reminded me more of a steak sandwich, which it basically was given that it was a chopped ground steak.   I will fully admit this is my own personal preference, when I want a burger, I want a BOIGER - beefy (not steaky), juicy, tender.

The bun-to-meat ratio was good: the circumference of the patty was almost identical to the circumference of the bun.  The thickness of the patty was anything but.  A drippy eat, most likely because of the house sauce and tomato.

The fries were handcut and made fresh. A bonus.  Not as crispy as I would have liked, so overall, I would give them an average rating.

One tip for those who go eat with another person:  Only one of you needs to order the burger platter.  The order of fries that comes with it is large enough for two people.

I do love the ambience.  I wish more places had that classic burger joint look and feel. If only the burgers matched.

The menus is a nice and simple one.  Too many choices can be overwhelming and I really prefer places that do a few things really well, rather than a bunch of things not-so-well.

If you want a chopped steak sandwich, go to Moderne Burger.  If you want the perfect burger, stay tuned.  I will find it just yet.

Located on West Broadway in Vancouver, I'd driven by this burger joint many a time before finally going there for dinner with a buddy visiting from out of town.

I had heard quite a bit about it, most of it pretty good. But frankly, I was disappointed.

The burgers were okay ... but I can get "okay" burgers just about anywhere. I'm looking for outstanding. The burger I ate was just not as juicy as the ones I've eaten at Burger Heaven, Romer's Burger Bar, the Flying Beaver Bar and Grill, Fat Burger - the list is pretty much endless.

They were a bit dry. Not Sahara-like but not juicy like a good burger should be, either.

The service was just like the food - okay. The fries were pretty much nondescript. I kept thinking, "How did this place get its reputation? Must have been good at one time..."

Unfortunately, it wasn't when I went.

The decor - kind of a generic 50's theme - was a bit plain too - not that that matters, when the food is plain and uninspiring.

At least they served orange milkshakes, there.

Based on what other reviewers are writing, I'm wondering how my experience could be so different. Should I give it another chance? Maybe. But not on my dime. Not when there are so many other better options out there (like the Sunshine Diner, just a few blocks down the street.)

Like the expression says, "You only get one chance to make a good first impression."

    Sorry, Moderne Burger.

It doesn't get better (probably)! The best burger joint I've been to (and my waist-line tells you I've been to a lot). Not come across steak burgers before but I certainly like them. I'm told their made fresh every day and I'd believe that. The hand cut fries were also exceptional. Ordered a root beer - the waitress's puzzled face when I asked where root beer comes from, was certainly comical! The general decor had a very authentic feel - like a 50's deli. It did look though a bit sparse. Great meal, quick service, pleasant service and a nice environment. The only way you'd make it better would be to make it free :)

Okay, so I said Romer's was my favorite burger joint in Vancouver, and that was true.  But Moderne Burger is the best burger joint in Vancouver.  That is also true.

    And here are the reasons:

The food is amazing.  They cook to order, so it takes a bit longer but it tastes absolutely perfect.  The burgers are nice and juicy, with all the toppings you'd expect, and nothing more.   The milkshakes are made right there too, pretty much everything is.  Their preparation is as charmingly old-school as it gets.

...As is the place itself.  Step in off Broadway and it's like you've just hopped out of the DeLorean after landing right in the middle of the 1950s.  It's that awesome.  I happen to love everything retro, so it scores major points in that aspect.

The prices are very reasonable.  I believe $10 gets you a burger and a huge plate of fries.  Can't go wrong with that.  Nothing on the menu is overly expensive.

The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, and always make sure you're enjoying everything.  From what I've read they are the owners as well, so it's always nice when it's a family-run business.

I happen to like crazy seasoned burgers with all sorts of weird toppings all over them so I often crave other things, but this place just makes a great basic burger, and sometimes that's all you want.  If I want to sit in a darkened room and have a glass of beer or four with my food I'll go elsewhere.  But if all I'm craving is a great burger for a nice price, in fun, relaxing environment, I'll go here.

One more thing, they close pretty early, I believe it's 8-ish.  Understandable being they're family-run, but keep that in mind.

Went inside on a rainy-day whim, and was very impressed. Both the service and the product were exactly as my friends had assured me they would be: excellent. I tip my hat to their simplified menu (my philosophy, which I garnered from Gordon Ramsay, is do one or two things REALLY great, rather than a bunch of things mediocre). I had a Root-Beer Float, which was nostalgia-inducing Heaven, and the Burger with Bacon and Cheddar -- sans fries. I was informed by the owner at the end of our visit that the proper way to eat the burger is with a fry raft beneath it to catch all the juices from the burger... I'm generally not a fry-fan, but I promised him I would endeavor to try this the next time I was in. And I most assuredly will be in again.

The staff were very accommodating, prompt and pleasant. I had a wonderful first experience, which was only solidified in the exceptional burger I got to eat.

After going to every notable burger restaurant in Vancouver, I can say with certainty Modern Burger is the best.

The owners have crafted a burger exactly the way I like it. The patty is unseasoned, and without any fillers or additives. You can really taste the flavour of the meat and the care that goes into its preparation. The burger is juicy till the last bite.

The Sodas are all made on-site, and the Cherry Coke is the best you'll ever drink.

Be sure to talk to the owners, one of whom will probably be your serving staff, and let them know what you think of your food. They're a great couple.

The best burger in Vancouver. I go as often as I can.

Fun place!  I love the atmosphere.  I love that they have sodas you can customize a bit, just like an old school soda fountain.  Great veggie burger, and the fries are amazing.  I also liked their "bbq" dipping sauce.  Tasty stuff!  I will be back. :D

I will gladly dole out 5 stars for this place. How, oh how did I wait this long before eating here?

You will not find toppings such as roasted red peppers, fois gras or any other frivolous offerings here. The meat is ground daily, in-store. And the fries are cut TO ORDER. I will say that I detest foot-high burgers because I do not want a challenge when I eat, I just want something I can sink my teeth into and enjoy. This is what I found at MB. Loosely formed, fresh, high quality, juicy patties topped with the basics - lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo and ketchup on a perfect, glistening bun.

I should add that there are a few 'extras' such as the 'dip' listed on their menu, and lovingly referred to by the staff as 'crack sauce'. GET IT.

A perfect burger for a reasonable price.

A hidden gem - cannot believe how long it took me to discover this place! Before coming to Moderne Burger, I was ready to indulge in 1000+ calories, which is not unusual in any other burger place. To my surprise, the burger is quite healthy - very fresh ingredients and no processing! They definitely care about the quality of the ingredients they put into the food they make. Yet, this kind of quality of ingredients is incredibly difficult to find all around (Greater) Vancouver. What's more is that the price at Moderne Burger is pretty cheap, considering the quality of the food. In any case, I am extremely happy to have found Moderne Burger, and will certainly be back soon - I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Everyone must try it!

Some people are made to run a restaurant and others should never step behind a grill. Luckily these are part of the former.
The burgers are top notch and don't need all the overly gooey topping other palces coat their burgers in.
One order of hand cut fries are more than enough for two people to split. I'm a fan of the Cherry Coke but find it too sweet so they gave me a half Cherry Coke and half Soda water which was fantastic.
The milkshakes come with the extra left over from the mixing container which is never a bad thing.
Wish I could give them another star just for the excellent service.

I used to think they had the Best Burgers in Canada!  Then they had a fire a few years ago, decided to expand and took a LONG time to reopen.  When they did, the place was not the same.  They got rid of their head cook and replaced him with a conveyer belt system that just can't compete.  The fries are still awesome and the owners are fantastic!  This is also the place to go should you want to take a step back in time....shakes, burgers and fries, the only thing missing is them rollerskating it out to your car.

Great authentic 'Diner Style' burger joint with freshly made meat patties.  You have a choice of Steak, Turkey, Veggie or Wild Salmon patty for your burger. I had the Moderne Steak Burger.  Bun was brioche style and a great compliment to the all beef burger.  Fries were homemade and quite good.

Overall a fairly basic but high quality burger with a great bun and burger patty combo.  I am not a fan of the typical white supermarket style buns and this one was way better than that - likely one of my favorite buns that I have placed my lips on in a long time.  LOL

Next time I may live it up a little with some extra toppings.  It likely needed a couple to round it out.

Also had a chocolate milkshake.  It was good served with the stainless steel milkshake container on the side which always brings back fond memories from when I was young and could still remember.

The burger here is proudly unseasoned, no filler, fresh meat.  Well guess what, no decent burger place uses filler or anything but fresh meat.  Seasoning?  I think it could use some.  No salt.  Nothing here.  I miss it.  Still, if you're a purest, sure, no seasoning.

But what about the meat?  Well, I find it a pretty greasy burger.  You pick this up and grease is dripping out the other end.  You want it juicy, but there's just too much fat in this grind for my taste.

Full marks for the fries which are top notch.  Fresh, crispy and nicely salted, but honestly, there are much better burgers to be had in this town.  The owners are passionate and run a really nice place, I just don't prefer the burger here.

Odd table arrangements as there is ample floor space, but quite squishy tables.  Just surprised that they didn't make some larger booths when they renovated.

Entering through Moderne's door, I was greeted by a 60's atmosphere and a man sporting a hawaiian shirt. Those were signals that I went to a nice burger joint.

Sunday evening, almost all seats were occupied, but it was not packed nor uncomfortable.

The menu is very simple. They only have burgers (5 patties), toppings, fries, and beverages. Craving for a complete 60's experience, I went for the burger and fries entrée, two toppings, and malted chocolate covered cherry milkshake.

Service speed was good. My shake came in about 5 minutes and my burger and fries in about 7 mins more. The milkshake serving was large; first filling the coned glass, but also giving a cup with equal or more serving than the glass! That was as if I had two milkshakes.

I was pleased by the size of the serving. There was a generous serving of fries and the burger was, although not humongous or fancy, quite succulent looking. The fries were not salted (good!) and definitively fresh cut. Not greasy or weak, but to the point, which were very good.

The burger itself indeed lived its expectations. Juicy and tender, as in the old days. Just a well made burger out from the grill, with a lingering smell that confirms it is a true old fashioned burger.

Then came the bill. The burger and fried platter was around 10.5 CAD. Each topping was 1.35 CAD. The malted shake came to 6.95 CAD. The total was 19 CAD. Add HST and tip and had to cash out 25 CAD.

Conclusion, the place is VERY good and worth visiting. Cons, it was not a cheap eat. It definitively hurt dishing out the 25 CADs for a burger dinner (still hurts haaa).  Although I might say it is the best burger I had until now in Vanc, it still not on par with some good joints in New York City (and for about half the price).

Excellent but pricey. 7 CADs cheaper, and I would rate it as 5 stars.

So once a month or so I get a craving for a good burger.
Unfortunately this usually happens after Moderne burger is closed up. They close early. Im not deducting a star because I respect the fact that they treat themselves and staff well by not working to death. That and I eat late.

The burger here is hand chopped, the fries made to order (one order is good to split for two). Bun comes with a toothpic and olive stuck to it. The shakes are stick to your belly good.

I recommend the step back in time and visit  Moderne Burger.

Ambiance: I enjoyed the 1950s diner/burger joint feel to the place.

Service: The waiting staff were punctual with refills and made sure you were enjoying the 'Moderne Burger' experience. The manager/owner (I believe) is quite the character. He was quite entertaining when hosting tourists.

Food: The steak burger was delicious. I wouldn't list it high on my list of favourite burgers. However, I would go again to try their other burgers listed such as their salmon and chicken burger. Their fries however are nothing special. They do load tons on your plate.

I would totally go to this place again. I am on the hunt for the best burger in the Lower Mainland.

My friend and I stopped in at Moderne Burger during Bike the Blossoms. So we were both pretty hungry, and those big burgers with juicy patties served with a mountain of fresh cut fries filled us right up.

We were also impressed with the clean, diner-style decor (I have a weakness for formica and vinyl) and good service. The gentleman who served us really knows how to sell a burger - describing lovingly how the beef is chopped and formed - and my friend's coffee cup was constantly being refilled throughout the meal.

I'll definitely go back here when I'm in this neck of the woods, as they served a mean cherry coke, and I know a certain guy who loves floats and milkshakes almost more than life itself...

It's hard going to burger places with a burger enthusiast.  While I've only recently started eating burgers again in the past 4 yrs (kinda hard when I was vegetarian), I'm making up for it, and my partner is BURGER OBSESSED.  So while I thought it was decent, on par with the Red Onion in Kerrisdale, my partner was Meh.  The burgers were well done, which is what most establishments will do with their meat.  Guess they really don't want their customers getting sick (yay!).  Wish they had a variety of relishes on the menu-  I'm a relish aficianado and rarely find that burger places ever even offer it.
The fries were decent, probably done in peanut oil.  Not the best I've had, but definitely in the top 1/4 I've ever had.
The buns though? AWESOME. best burger bun we've had yet.

and the chocolate milkshake????  AWESOME.  I can't even tell you how good it was  - you'll just have to go yourself.  I think they also put some vanilla flavor into it.

The owner (his wife is the "owner", he says) is affable, and knows his burgers.  He loves to talk with people, and it really shows.

I love, love, love the decor though. awesome stuff, gorgeous locale.

I hate to rain on a 5 star parade.  Didn't satisfy the caveman in me.

Ok, I love the fries here.  They are freshly cut, cripsy, and just the right amount of saltiness.

The burger itself is just too thin though.  The meat seems like a decent quality, but the micro-thin layer gets lost on an oversized bun with tomato, lettuce, mayo, secret sauce, and onions.  You can't taste the meat.  It is kind of like a salad sandwich with a bit of chopped meat seasoning.

I have to say the burger was under seasoned as well for my taste.  It could have used a little something something.

    But yes, great fries.

Sigh....I keep coming back to the little known Marmalade for their burgers.  I'm a sucker for thick meat.

It gets better every time.  I make a concerted effort to only go to this place once every couple months, I want to keep it as a rare treat of burger perfection.

As I stated before, this is, hands-down, the city's best burger.  The patty is a remarkable accomplishment - always perfectly cooked and handmade with only ground sirloin.  That's it - no binding agents, no seasoning, nothing superfluous to take away from the taste of the beef.  Considering how remarkable the taste is, it's impressive that the texture achieves the same level of excellence.

If you like seasoning and random chuck meat (not pure, ground sirloin), Costco has a nifty case of frozen patties you'd be interested in - machine-made, heavily seasoned, and probably contain some small percentage of sirloin, too!

I'm giving this place five stars but know it probably only merits four.  I'm giving the extra because if you have food allergies like I do, this is a five-star establishment!  If you don't, it's still a tasty and cute burger joint, with extra points for cleanliness and welcoming, friendly service.

I specifically went to Moderne while on a trip to Vancouver, having read a positive review on a gluten-free blog.  Because the author of the blog seemed very confident in their ability to handle dietary restrictions, I wasn't overly prescriptive about my order, other than saying I couldn't have the bun because I was allergic (I think they may have gluten-free buns, but I can't handle egg or dairy either so didn't want to bother about it).  The man behind the counter asked if I wanted fries and assured me, without prompting, that they were gluten-free.

The person behind me in line was the mother of a child with food allergies.  The man behind the counter patiently went through the menu with her, explaining what her child could and couldn't eat.  He seemed very knowledgeable about ingredients, and I was touched by the time he took making her feel confident about her child's meal.  As a result, I probably felt more confident eating at Moderne Burger than I have at any restaurant in a very long time.  The confidence was well-placed...I didn't have a single allergic symptom following my meal.

The reason I think Moderne probably deserves just four stars was the actual food quality.  My husband enjoyed his burger (with cheese and a bun) but, with just lettuce and tomato, mine was a little dry.  We both ordered fries but would have had plenty in a single order.  Maybe not as many as, say, at Five Guys, but a lot of fries nonetheless.  I love french fries and don't mind them a little greasy, but these were over-the-top dripping with oil.  It's hard for me to complain since it's so rare that I can safely eat fries anywhere, but I did have to blot mine with a stack of napkins to eat them.

In conclusion, Moderne Burger is heavenly for those of us who need a little extra dietary care---and the place is cute enough (and food good enough) that your more omnivorous friends and family won't mind tagging along!

The joint is an old school burger joint and even has a burger bar...they have done an incredible job replicated the look of a 1950's hot spot!

The menu is simple..burgers, fries and milkshakes...best milkshake you will ever have in you life..thick and creamy!! MMMMMMMM...I recommend the chocolate covered cherry..it's a bit sweet but a nice compliment with the burger and fries....you can choose a steak burger, turkey burger, and I think a salmon burger..I always have the steak burger....make sure to get the bbq sauce on it and you pick all the toppings you want...the order of fries is HUGE..so 2 people can easily share...

So good..blows away all other burger joints in the city...

    Horribly overrated burger place.

Don't listen to the reviews here, the burger is greasy, the bun is tasteless and the cheese is rather bland (if you like your cheeses).   The fries are the kind your mother makes (if you have a mother that makes mediocre fries).

You'll be better off with pretty much any other burger place in town,  heck go across the street to white spot.  It'll not kill you with grease.  I wish I had.

I think people are sold on the room, and don't notice the burger is crap.    It tastes cheap and full of bread crumbs and other fillers.
The fries I had were soggy, greasy and tasted over done.  Also had a malted milk shake that was warm and runny.
It's a nice room, but it should be about the food, and this food just does not stand up.

Hell, yeah. The friendly owners keep it simple, and therein lies the genius: I hope you like burgers, fries and shakes... because the quantities are vast. Shakes come in a thick glass with the excess in a steel mixing cylinder.

I love the decor, and none of the charm was lost in the expansion, which saw Moderne Burger closed for over a year. Glad it's back.

the ONLY place i allow my beloved body to experience burger rather than home is this place. It's fresh meat you are getting, not garbage junk food filled with seasonings and nastiness! if you care about yourself and yourself, this is a place to eat out! the owner knows what he is doing. he cares about u. he comes to your table and ask you if u r satisfied. the ppl in the kitchen are SO nice that once when i told the server i didnt want onions in my burger coz i was allergic to them, they actually put the burger sauce on the side and brought it to me coz the chef said there were tiny bit of onion in the sauce too and they were worried if i would get hurt!!!! the shakes are so tasty and they are so generous in terms of price. u can feel they dont wanna just make money and value you and your health more than making pennies!

For my money the best burger in all of Vancouver, which places it high in the running for burgers world-wide. They keep it simple here; diners have the option of steak, turkey, or vegetarian burger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and horsey sauce complimentary. Then add cheese (cheddar or swiss), bacon, and a couple other toppings on a pay-per-topping basis. Indicate whether you want that with their fresh fries or not (you probably want at least one order for the table). Proceed to anticipate the deliciousness to come while sipping on a cherry coke, vanilla root beer, or malt, then nosh on the best burger around. Did I mention the fries? They cut them to order, and fry them while your burger cooks. Guaranteed fresh.

If that's not enough to get you to experience this place, the decor is sure to do it. 1930s styled fixtures abound. Everything is chrome with big rounded edges. Even the PA speakers they pipe the music through have a definite retro look. It's a fantastic place, so check it out.

Fresh meat, literally. They don't use fillers, preservatives or seasonings. Potatoes are cut fresh too.

Simple menu allows the indecisive to decide quickly. Choose your meat: Moderne steak, ground turkey, veggie or wild salmon filet (something for everyone!) Comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions,  mayo and house sauce. Have the burger only, or with fries. For extras you can add include cheeses bacon, mushrooms....

I got their Moderne Steak burger with all the works, with swiss cheese and mushrooms, and also a side of fries between the 3 of us to share. Also got a Vanilla Root Beer float. Also like the diner style decor, with hints of aluminum.

The burger was nice and hot, the patty was juicy. Veggies were fresh and loads of mushrooms were added on. The float was also delicious, nothing beats vanilla root beer floats!! Great meal for sure!

They close at 7:45pm so don't come here too late. Wish it opened until later though.

As someone who doesn't eat mammals, a dinner out at a burger joint usually doesn't hold much appeal, that is, until I experienced the turkey burger at Moderne Burger.  The moist, flavourful turkey burger is made for the owner to his specifications so it isn't the dry "hockey puck"  one finds at most other burger places. The fries are hand cut right in the kitchen and are served in a very generous portion. The dipping sauce which comes as an extra is delicious with the fries but is not for those watching fat or calories! The milkshakes are made with hard ice cream in an old fashioned milkshake maker - simply delicious. Two people with an average appetite can easily order a burger, split an order of fries and split a milkshake and each be very full.
Although the atmosphere is authentic 1950's diner cool, the restaurant hours are quite restrictive. I usually don't start thinking about dinner until 7 -7:30pm so because the doors at Moderne close at 7:45pm it often loses consideration for me for a meal. For the price of a burger, fries, shake and some of the extras like dipping sauce, cheese and mushrooms you are looking at over $20 per person. You have to REALLY want a good burger to justify that price in my book.

    Fantastic!!! I love it!!!
We were here with friends last Sunday and came very hungry. Waiting time was ok, burger and fries fantastic and I also had milkshake. The best milkshake I've had so far, really delicious.
I give this place 4 stars for their "not the best" opening hours...12:00 till 7:45 p.m. I wish this place could be open later till night.

I quite raved about Moderne Burger to my fellow carnivores. I finally visited since the renovation, and was surprised that I didn't like it as much as I used to.....something was amiss.

The burger was still moist and juicy, but neither of our burgers arrived at the table hot off the grill. It didn't seem as if the meat was seasoned and it lacked the chargrilled flavour that I remembered. I didn't taste any seasoning in the fries either.....quite bland.

It was disappointing, especially after quite a bit of boasting about this place. I'll try it some other time in case it was a chance incident.

Finally, I found a good cheeseburger in Vancouver.

I've been to Moderne Burger 4 times now and the burgers are consistently excellent. I don't know what other people are talking about with bread crumbs or fillers. The owner told me that it's just straight up steak, no fillers at all. Not even salt. The owner also told me they boycott vinegar related products for the burgers like mustard or pickles because they overtake the flavor of the burger (though, they do provide malt vinegar on the table for the fries).

The menu is really simple and the interior is a clean and bright. An order of fries is too much for me to finish.

Every other burger I've had in Vancouver is charred and served well done, but Moderne Burger cooks it just right and the burger is quite juicy. The constant crowd of patrons and the fact that they recently doubled the size of the restaurant is pretty good evidence that they are doing something right.

This might be one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, just greasy enough w/o being gross, and not overly meaty. The fries are fresh and tasty. Double thumbs-up for Cherry Coke.

Maybe it is my homesick American talking, but I also loved the retro decor. It's not depressing kitsch, for once, and is actually a very well-curated collection of 30's-50's design. Charming!

If burgers were a vegetable, I would eat here all the time.

Great little burger joint on west broadway. My wife took me there for dinner, as I love burgers, and she said they had a great one.
    I was not let down.
I had the steak burger with bacon and cheddar,  with a side of fries and my wife had the turkey burger.  Both burgers were excellent, and the one side of fries were plenty for the 2 of us (and they hand cut the fires as you order them)
The owner waited on us, and was super friendly, so all in all, this was a really great place for a quick bite.
