I recently moved to Calgary, and had to find a clinic to renew my birth control prescription.  I'm glad I found this clinic, because this was my best walk-in clinic experience I've had.  The wait time was about 45 minutes, which I think is good for a clinic.  The doctor was extremely friendly, asked plenty of questions and answered all of my questions as well.  I'll definitely be going back.

I went to the doctors to get a referral to a psychologist on January 5th. Dr. Kanani was taking me on as a first time patient but refused to give me a referral until I made another appointment to do a "physical" I had no idea what was involved in a physical but I stated I wasn't planning on having a pap smear on the next appointment. So I get there to my physical and I didn't realize you have to undress in order to have this procedure done. No I've never had a physical before, you can check, eyes, ears, nose, reflexes, heart, lungs, blood pressure WITHOUT BEING NAKED thank you very much!

Because I wouldn't get undressed the doctor forced me angrily out of his room and told me I had just wasted 20 minutes of his time (HE SHOUTED THIS IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WAITING ROOM), meanwhile I had actually only been there about 6-10 mins total before he kicked me out of his room for not undressing to do the physical - please note he refused to even continue with the many other things he can complete at a physical and then I told him that he's the one who said I needed it and I didn't want it, all I wanted was a referral to a psychologist - THEN the monster had the audacity to say out loud in front of the whole waiting area and other doctors that "Yes, I will certainly be referring you to a counsellor because you obviously have some anxiety issues." Then he told me he didn't care if I found another doctor and that I should leave before I waste any more of his time. I left in tears. I absolutely won't stand for this type of treatment - unbelievable that this could actually happen.

I'm filing complaints with the Medical Board as well as the Alberta Ombudsman this afternoon. I hope he doesn't get away with treating people like this in the future.

Of course, walk in clinics are never a fun time. The waiting room experience and location garner the 2 stars for this place, but the Nandi family docs at this location really bite the big one. Dr. Nandi , the on duty doc is truly insufferable. He signs my birth control renewal without asking and questions and with heaping helping of sighs and annoyed glances. My pregnant friend had gone to him for info on her pregnancy and became so frustrated with his attitude, judgement and lack of knowledge or interest in helping her that she left half way through the appt.
Find another walk in if you can.

I have been going to this location now since I moved to Calgary 6 years ago, and I am so glad I found it.   The best thing about this practice is that if you have family doctor there ( I have doctor Kanani) you never wait! If you have an appt at 10 am then you will be seen at 10 am! Imagine that! It really is quite refreshing to feel that your time is valuable when at the doctors office.
This facility does have a walk in service as well, and from what I have heard you can wait substantial amounts of time.
As I mentioned I have Dr. Kanani, a lovely kind doctor who treats me with genuine concern, and he takes the time to truly listen.  Prior to Dr. Kanani, I had Dr Davies at this location, I have always considered him to be the best doctor I have ever had, sadly he passed away. I am lucky to been under his care and now, Doctor Kanani's. Another reviewer mentioned that the furniture etc is dated etc, and while that may be true, the care I receive is exceptional and in the end that is what is really important.
At the time of writing this, they are still accepting new patients, so if you are looking for a family doctor at a great local clinic give them a call.

I have frequented the Mission Medical Clinic many times, and now that I have a regular doctor there it's a breeze to get in but as a walk-in patient the waiting time can be painstaking.  You can expect anywhere from an hour to a 4 hour wait.  Thankfully you have the liberty to leave and come back, enjoy what 4th Street S.W. (Starbucks, Nellies etc) and Elbow River has to offer you but be careful as a walk-in you may be a walk-out and lose your place in line.  The desk staff is more than willing to accommodate you however, and always makes sure you know how much time is needed and ask you to check in when you come back which is nice!  And the nurses and the doctors attending you are always pleasant and professional.  The equipment and furniture in the attending rooms are quite old however,  I would say late 70s, and the waiting room could use some sprucing up.   But my neighbour used to say "girl if it ain't broken don't fix it"... I believe he was referring to something else though.  Saving grace is in the corner of the waiting room is a flat screen television which is a great idea but I have never in my 10 visits there have actually seen it turned on.
