Review from June P.
I Love Miniatures!!!! The minute I heard there was a miniature world I had to make a stop! I was so impressed with all the creative ideas that the artist came up with I never knew anyone can do such a thing. The displays were gigantic themes - displaying wars, carnivals, parties, parks, fairy tales, western town and Castles. Oh the Castles were amazing, they felt so real --- like there really was a small world with people living in it.
There is so much details that you have to look at one item at a time just to take it all in. -

Simply amazing! I can only imagine how much time and effort has been put in to get all the fine details. Great for the family.

Wonderfully whimsical and incredibely cheesy all within a few steps of each other, this was a giant winner with out two year old daughter and many of the exhibits brought a smile to the face of the adults as well.
Some of the displays are only adequate, and that's being generous. The train exhibit was somewhat disappointing and the older visuals are long in the tooth but for every average stop there's quickly something delightful.
There's a working log mill that quite fascinating, and a number of fairtale dioramas that are quite enchanting but the highlight is the expansive cityscape at the end with a complete working city and fair that revolves from day to night. it's really quite something to see. Definitely one of the must stops in Victoria and well worth your time, even for adults. Brings back that childhood wonder.Listed in: Best of the Pacific Northwest

My friend and I randomly fell upon Miniature World while looking for things to do in BC.
Upon entering, I felt I should be greeted by Lilliputs!
Rooms are separated into different themes (like a scene from novels) and eras... medieval times, carnivals, rodeos, castles... all so amazing to see especially the ones that stretch for a good number of feet.
There is so much detail to each set ...you can see boats, horses and little people... or cars and carts..depending on what room you are in. Simply amazing detail. They also a/c the place so you stay cool. =)
It's pretty cheap too- $12 pp. =) A great way to burn off an hour or two! -

OMG--Victoria BC is on Yelp!!!
I LOVE this place---I want to move into this museum and/or magically shrink into a teeny tiny person to live in one of the dozens of dioramas.
I had wanted to go to this place for years, first bugging my parents as a kid and then bugging my hubby for years.
Finally when our son was 11 I convinced both of them that Miniature World would be an "educational" experience! We went last year too and I was just as amazed and dazzled.
It more than met my expectations, but I love anything miniature.
There are not only dollhouses, one in particular has a teeny tiny working television, there is so much more.
Battlefields from a dozen or so historical wars. Lots of soldiers, shooting, wounded, dying, dead....lots of artillery, canons, tanks, weapons, etc---
my son & hubby love this shit,
Fairy tale castles, fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters,
towns with houses, stores, etc etc
I am going to have to dig through my pictures and load them onto this site. I took dozens.
Fun and fascinating place for the kids and big kids.
Warning it may be too "wholesome" for some Yelpers!

If somehow you can find a way to shrink like Alice in Wonderland this would be the best place to do it! If anyone knows where I can find the Mad Hatter...Please let me know!! I went here with Christine Y. & we had such a blast looking at each Miniature World! You won't stop smiling roaming this place!!

Review from Irena L.
I am ashamed of myself. I almost didn't trust my fellow yelpers on this one! My friend and I were sitting in Fairmont Empress and thinking what to do to kill an hour before we check out. We wanted to go to the Miniature World but we were both very sceptical about it. We checked out yelp reviews, but were still not convinced. I was thinking, well probably tourists bring their kids and it is kind of a family fun (not fun at all;p) and hence the good reviews. How can a miniature world be fun, it's nonsence, just like looking at toys. Ok there is some hard work involved, but whatever, how much fun can that be?!
So finally, we really had nothing to do, and we decided to check it out. Up front was the nicest lady that sold us the tickets (about $24 for both of us); I was already ashamed for trashing miniature world in my head a few minutes ago. Once we entered, OMG, OUT OF THIS WORLD AWESOME! And I mean literally; it is a miniature space world, and you are in it. You can press buttons and touch stuff and make stuff do stuff and it's so much fun (no I am not 13 years old). After that there are expositions of World War 2, and Canadian history, and Disney fairytales, and doll houses, and circuses, etc. all rooms are narated, and everywhere you can press various buttons that will for e.g start a train, turn on the tv, move something...
Miniature World, I kinda wanna live in you...please forgive me for all the bad thoughts!
Definitely check it out! -

Miniature World was a totally random activity that surprisingly entertaining and wheelchair accessible. It's a part of the Empress Hotel, which are where the accessible restrooms are. Read the complete wheelchair access guide here: http://www.wheelchairt...

This is a nice family activity. Plan on an hour or so to make your way through. We got there when they opened and had the place basically to ourselves. The kids loved the place. Some of it is a bit dated, but it is neat to see how much work and detail is put into the exhibits. A couple of the exhibits go "dark" and have black lights. Nice to see the exhibits in a different perspective.

i just realized something as i was about to write this review and i think i can thank miniature world for making my mom a miniature nut. when i was younger she begain going to holiday boutiqes and craft stores and buying up small little items and making them into a full on project. yes i guess i want to say thank you miniature world.
this is a really cool place and probaly the most famous tourist atrraction in all of victoria. this is really a great place for kids that they will treasure always and for us adults it takes you back to the good old days of your childhood. with so many jaw dropping miniatures to see this will become a must see place on each and every trip into victoria.
the smallest ever operational saw mill that took close to 11 years to complete. the circus, railroads, doll houses, space european castles, frontier land, fantasy land, the world of dickens and so many more mind blowing things you must see to believe.
let's see with just over a 12 hour drive into seattle and less then 2 hours by bc ferrie- IM ON MY WAY! :)

This is just a cool place to check out. It's a little campy but the miniatures are pretty neat. Anyone with any appreciation of model trains will also have a heyday.

Victoria is such a fun and beautiful city. We spent the afternoon here during our Alaskan cruise, and Miniature World was a highlight of my entire trip. It is an easy walk around the side of the Empress Hotel. Be prepared to be amazed. My favorite was Tatania's Palace in Fantasyland - enchanting! Make sure there are plenty of shots in your camera, you will need to take pictures of everything. A fantastic place to take kids!

Also another must see attraction for Victoria. My personal favorite is the miniature trans canada train set. Each room has their own themes from medieval to modern times and everything in between.

I love Minature World! It's kind of small (no pun intended) but it packs a lot in. It could use an update or new exhibit but I haven't grown tired of it yet after many many years and visits.

Oh, this place is not just for kids! Trust me. It is every girl's dream come true - dollhouses all around. I just couldn't get enough of it. Even my husband liked it :)

Time changes ones perspective, every thing seemed bigger when you're a kid. But miniature world pretty much stays the same. Great place to take the kids and see different historic and fictional dioramas.

Review from Atlee G.
The space exhibit alone is worth the price of admission, Nerd-Tastic!!!! However, it gets five stars for both the circus world exhibit and the wonderfully campy fairy tale exhibits. Kids will most likely enjoy the war scenes and doll houses, and the history stuff is okay, but take my advice, the space exhibit is where it's at!
