I've been seeing Chris for about 3 years now and have gone through a multitude of hair changes in that time! He is a master at coloring - I've gone from jet black to fiery gorgeous red...and now back to a softer brown/blonde. Not to mention all the cuts from bangs, cute bobs, and pixies. I chose him to be my stylist for my wedding hair (big messy french romantic up-do) and could not have been more pleased with his work. He also did all of my bridesmaids hair... it was incredible. He is caring and makes you feel very comfortable. Best of all he is passionate about the work he does. The new location on Granville is friendly and cool. Chris is young, modern and very creative!

Union (used to be "Mine") is a nice upscale, chic salon. I wasn't happy with the end results. I got my hair dyed and the colour my colourist chose made my skin look washed out. He picked a cooler tone when he should have picked warmer tones for my complexion.  I am disappointed because I told him to choose the colour and take my complexion into account. I went to another hairdresser after and the first thing she mentioned was how the colour was wrong for my skin tone. I'm going to get it fixed. I feel like I wasted about $300 at this place, plus another $150 I'm going to have to spend to get it fixed.

My stylist did a great blow dry and the scalp massage is nice. I won't be going back though as I don't trust the colourists ability to see the overall picture of how colours go with the person. it's a shame because I wanted to make this my regular place as it's in a nice part of town and really funky.

Chris is the undisputed hair colour champion of my world. In fact, my mum loves my multi-dimensional highlight-y dark chocolate brownish/red colour so much that she made Chris her stylist as well. Happy!

Chris has another hairgod-like talent - he does the sexiest, shiniest, bounciest and longest lasting blowdries that I have ever received.

Thank god this salon is blocks from my house - I am never more than minutes from pretty hair.

I never really noticed this salon even though I frequent this intersection fairly often, but it's definitely worth a visit! I was planning a dramatic change, going from a dark, chocolate brown to blonde, and really wanted to pick a good place to do it for me as I certainly wasn't going to do it myself. A friend of a friend who is a stylist specifically recommended Preston at Mine as someone who really knows blonde.

Making the appointment was a snap, and I got the day and time I wanted no problem. Probably the only negative I can think of was the guy at the counter when I arrived was a little cold and didn't make me feel too welcome, but Preston soon arrived and I became comfortable right away. Also, I wasn't booked for quite what I wanted (this was probably just a result of me being nervous on the phone and not being clear about what I wanted done) and there wasn't enough time to cut my hair afterwards, but that ended up being fine since I only wanted my bangs trimmed. I was, of course, pretty nervous as I had never lightened my hair to such a degree and was going for a pretty big change.

Preston was very professional and soft-spoken. After discussing what I wanted we decided on a honey blonde with light blonde highlights. He didn't chat my ear off and even let me read for a while while he put the foils in (I couldn't really hear anyway with all that aluminum in my ear). Putting both colours in took a while, but the time went by pretty quickly. The music wasn't annoying and the staff wasn't overly chatty or loud. Everyone was really stylish and cool.

After the foils came off and the bleach was washed out I got to see what my hair had become. It was gorgeous! Preston really knows what he's doing when it comes to colour. I felt really well taken care of and was very impressed. A few of the other stylists came around and were also impressed. I am beyond happy with the results. I will definitely be going back when it comes time for a trim and to do my roots.

It was a bit on the pricey-side, but about what you can expect for all-over colour and highlights. I also bought some salon-quality shampoo and conditioner which were $23 each, and including the tip it all came to about $250. Totally worth it. If you are going blonde, make an appointment with Preston.

A hidden gem! I had walked past this place so many times without knowing it was there. Then Chris moved from his old salon to here, and I moved with him! This guy really 'gets' hair and has magical powers to make my hair exactly how I ask for. Wish I could do the same at home, but I have to say Chris gives some really stellar advice for home styling as well. (Although we both know my laziness is the main obstacle.)

A huge bonus for a salon that's high end like this one, is that I feel completely comfortable. I really hate going to a spa or other fancy pants place and feeling like I'm some kind of urchin.... obviously I'm a bit paranoid... anyway, it's a sweet space. All the other staff are quite friendly too.

When looking for a place to get my hairs did, a few friends recommended Mine Style Source. One of them specifically recommended Chris.

So I called in and booked an appointment with him for a MAJOR trim and to get my bangs done again. It has been years since I had any kind of hairstyle other than a wavy mess! Time for a change...

He did an absolutely perfect job! My hair felt so light and healthy after getting over a year's worth of split ends off my head. I have some subtle layers but I wear the style straightened with straight-across "bettie" bangs.

My roots were pretty brutal when I went in and since I couldn't afford to get any kind of dye job, he actually brought out a can of Halloween black hair spray paint and touched my roots up that way until I could go home and use the evil box dye. Too funny!

They also offer free bang (or fringe, if you prefer) trims! I go back once a month to get my bangs out of my eyes. This is so handy! And Chris is such a nice and funny dude. I recommend him to everyone!

If I have extra money in my budget, I spoil myself with a trip to Mine. I like to go to Cath there, she's as cute as a button with a voice like your favourite cartoon character and she does a great job on your hair. She's a really good listener and makes sure she understands what you want before she starts snipping. Cuts start at $55.

Anthony is the proprietor of the salon, does a fashion bit on Global news and was in a reality show for hairdressers (kind like the fashion design or model shows, but for cutting hair). He's obviously a man with his finger on the pulse of fashion, so you can be sure when you go there that he and his staff will get you up-to-date with all the latest.

The salon is near the corner of Broadway and Main, so it's easy to find.

First time going to this salon and I found it very friendly with lots of free on street, or pay parking nearby.
My appointment was with Jennifer who was very attentive and creative. She gave me a great cut especially for the first time doing my hair... which can have a mind of it's own!

I guess this will be another review praising Chris... ooooh well. He is amazing, adorable, knows hair and how to treat people. My wife and I both got our hairs did this weekend. So good. Such a great salon too. I think it's pricier than a lot of other ones but not too too bad.. I have definitely found my new stylist. The experience made me float.
