What can I say?  I love Millie.  I used to get my haircut by one of her hairdressers for years!  After losing him, I bounced around from shop to shop aimlessly looking for a kick ass hairdresser.  I decided to try Millie.  She did such an awesome job.  I had long hair and she cut it short and highlighted it.  Took years off my age!!!  Everyone has complimented the new do.  I'm a Millie customer for life.  The salon itself is modern and gorgeous and the girls there are the best.  They help each other out.  No catty girls here.  Love love love this salon!!

I needed to get my brows done at the last minute because my regular salon couldn't fit me in. I went here after reading the reviews and looking at the $15 price on their website. I did notice how they did write that different people charge more however I didn't expect that went for eyebrows and thought it was more for hair color and hair cut (my fault I should have asked).

I had an appointment made with Stephanie West. I was kept waiting a bit, but I understand that happens in salons. Not a big deal. When I got picked up and was told to lay on the thing, the price I was told would then be $25 since I requested no wax, but tweezing only. Uh my regular lady at a nice salon (not a hole in the wall Vietnamese place) charges $15. Paying $25 at a place in La Mesa?! I then said thanks, but no thanks. Luckily another woman that works there (Theresa I believe) had a client not show up. She said she would do my brows then and there for $15 so I took her up on that offer. Although she said she had to do it quickly (which worried me), my brows came out really nice.

I docked stars for this place for a few reasons. 1. They seem a bit disorganized. 2. I thought SW could have just helped me out there (and I thought it was stupid considering that she would now be out $$) 3. The waiting area is poorly set up for people who are handicapped. No I am not handicapped, but you would have to get off of your seat and walk out of the way should someone in a wheelchair or those rolly things neat to stroll by. 4. Although the website does mention that certain people charge differently, I would have appreciated if the website listed who charges what.

While I still prefer Skin Lounge in North Park, should I need something ASAP I would go back to have Theresa do my brows.

I just got back and I am so happy that YELP sent me here! I was in dire need of some Mommy time so my husband told me he would find me the best place for a mani/pedi and he did! He booked me an appointment with Jamie Richardson, and wow what am amazing experience.

What I loved the most was that is was not like one of those small nail salons that up charge you for everything, it was all included! It made the experience so relaxing. I was able to have a nice conversation and received a great service. Jamie was pleasant and definitely a master at doing her craft. I have even booked my next appointment already!

If you want a great mani/pedi that is pressure free and amazing go and see Jamie!!!!

I am actually writing this review on a stylist here, Abby Corle. I asked a lady who works at a local restaurant, where she had her hair done...that is how I found Abby. Already, I loved her work! I had my hair cut and colored, along with my cousin. We were both impressed by her work. She is an honest and kind person. She has a gentle touch and the scalp massage while you are being washed is lovely. Abby is very knowledgeable, she asked if we knew how to maintain our color, and also provided key styling tips. We talked the entire time, as I am a chatty person & I will now be one of her loyal clients. Thank you Abby! See you soon!

As far as the salon, it is a clean, modern, yet comfy place to be pampered!

Fast forward 6 months after a disasterous Millicent & Co. haircut...I happened to be in NYC, and decided to make an appointment to get my curls fixed. I found a kindly stylist who was very frank and honest with me. Basically, I was told my hair was so butchered that cutting it would be "disaster upon disaster" and it was suggested I let my hair grow out for another few months so he had some length to work with.

I realize it is just hair and it will grow back. However, TWO Millicent stylists were so inexperienced and ill-prepared to handle my hair, and instead of just telling me so and sending me on my way, they cut my hair so poorly that six months later, my hair is still so short and out of whack that another stylist can't fix it.

I will be wearing pony tails and hats throughout the summer to give my hair a chance to grow out a little more before I can try again to fix the horrible haircut that was imposed on me six months ago. NEVER AGAIN, and I urge all curly-haired gals to run far far away.

When I moved to San Diego from the East Coast a little over a year ago, I was very hesitant about finding a new hair stylist. I am very picky when it comes to my hair and I don't trust just anyone with it. I was at work one day and asked my colleague where she gets her hair done, as I know that she has pretty high standards like myself. She told me that she goes to Millicent & Company and referred me to her stylist, Kristie Ford. I made an appointment for the following Friday and I have been going back ever since, almost a year now. Kristie gives me exactly what I want every time I go in and she always finds time for me, even when her schedule is busy. She gives THE best shampoos, uses great products, and always makes conversation. I live in Pacific Beach and she is well worth the drive to La Mesa!

Jamers is the best manicurist I have ever had!! She is always so friendly and personable (and funny!!)  I am very indecisive and she is patient and will do designs on my nails and then take them off and do them again when I change my mind 5 minutes later...
I recommend her and Millicent & Company to all of my friends and co-workers.  Thanks Millicent and THANKS JAMERS! YOU ROCK!!

Called tons of places hoping to find a slot to get my hair cut and I came across this place. They luckily took me in and thank God I was in the area. (I called sorta last minute) I guess it was meant to be because I got the cutest, best haircut from CASSIE B. She totally listened to what I wanted and gave me good hair tips and advice as she was cutting my hair. Oh, and did I mention how fast she is? Cut my hair with a quickness but definitely did a fantastic job! This salon is really nice inside and everyone seems nice, btw. Go give them a try! You will be happy you did!

Thank you, Cassie! I will definitely be seeing you again!

Great full service salon! You can't go wrong here! Hair, nails, waxing, massage...I've had it all and keep coming back. Nice professional ladies with no attitudes and great service. You'll be happy with anyone you see, but I like Kristy Ford for hair and Jamers and Peggy are great for nails. Diane in massage is fantastic!

I've been searching for a good hairdresser for YEARS and YEARS. i finally found one! Her name's Natale and she's pretty amazing. She's laid back, no pressure, helps me decide what to do with my hair, and executes beautifully! She doesn't even give me a hard time about how freakishly long it takes to blow dry my hair. Every time i call they try accommodate my schedule and if Natale isn't working a certain day, I wait for her. Prices are VERY reasonable for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry. She also always straightens my hair after the blow dry.

The location is really close to my office so that's always a plus. I go on my lunch break and am in and out in less than an hour. The salon itself is pretty impressive too.

I used to go to the El Cajon location (which was just lost in a fire in January) back in middle school.  Then my stylist left so I left in search of someone new.  I jumped from salon to salon for a few years, never really happy with how my hair turned out.  Then I realized that there was a La Mesa Millicent & Company.

This salon is filled with all ages, from 6 year old boys to teenagers to older women.  Each stylist operates their own booth, with their own supplies and prices.  There's also some sort of nail thing to the left, but I've never ventured over there.

I switched to Daniel after my first stylist here raised her prices. I've had long hair almost all of my 18 years, but on my last visit, I was ready for a change (hair to my shoulders--gasp!).  Daniel made it a painless transition.  He was careful not to cut too much off at once and kept me involved with it all.  His haircuts are also more enjoyable than most I've had with girls, who chit chat with other stylists the whole time, leaving me trapped under a cape with wet hair in my eyes.

Bottom Line: try this place.  If you don't like one stylist, there are many more to choose from.

I have never found a place that meets all my salon expectations until I came here! Sarah is so sweet and she does great color and she cuts my hair better than I could have ever imagined!

If you need your nails done right, you should visit KIM at Millicent and Company!  She was recommended by a friend, and has been doing my nails since early 2009.  I have tried about a dozen shops, but Kim's work is beyond compare.  I can always count on them (my acrylics) staying just as nice as the day they were done, sometimes for 5 weeks!  She can always fit me in if I happen to have a "nail emergency" inbetween fills.  I highly recommend Kim!  You should call and make an appointment and see what I mean. I depend on her to look my best.

I had seen Millicent's when it was under construction but never went there until this week. I have lots of gray and had been home coloring my hair again because I was not that happy with my previous hair dresser. My hair was a mess but Liz H proved herself to be an excellent colorist and she did not cut my hair shorter that I asked which is hard to get (you know 1" looks more like three!)
She worked extra hard to get the perfect color, she listened to me and you could see her expertise and my wishes in the final results. I also got to see some really pleasant teamwork and support between the folks working there.....I am looking forward to trying out a facial or massage next.
I hope Liz stays put for a while cause she is a keeper!

Due to the recommendation of a friend I made the trek out to La Mesa specifically to get my haircut with Cassi B.  Three Words: GOOD LIFE DECISION.  I usually am not too particular about my hair, but I guess I've never had a haircut this good.  Now I will never go to another stylist.

Step 1) Schedule a haircut with Cassi B
Step 2) Get the best haircut of your life
    Step 3)

    There's no step 3.  It's a two step process.

You think getting to be this handsome man that I am just happens? You're mistaken. I keep looking my best by going to see Natalie at Millicent, even if I do sometimes come to her a few weeks later than I should, she gets me in, out and on to looking respectable again. This salon is super clean and nice, good location, so what if I'm not manly by skipping the barber shop and paying a little more at a salon. To me it's worth it.

I attempted to dye my own hair black yesterday...ya no go. I called Millicent this morning at 9 and they were able to get me in at 130 with Amanda! First, Amanda is awesome, shes very friendly and knowldgeable; not a pretentious hair stylist (real talk- my hair was effed up!). She did a great job making ALL my hair black with only minor staining of my forehead ( black is tough!). I will definitely go back to her!!!

First let me say, that Natalie is married to one of my nephews'.  Because of this, I have not wanted her to do my hair because....What would I do if  she did a terrible job?? What excuse could I give her if I never went back?  BUT, she did a great job and I seriously get lots of compliments from my friends and people I do not even know.  She listened to me about how I wanted it cut ( bobish) and now all I do is wash it and blow dry any which way and off I go.  The hair style just falls into place...no flat iron or anything.  I will for sure be going back to her.  Thanks Nat!

After reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try.  Nice atmosphere and good decor.  I did have to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time but it was beyond the stylists control.  I got highlights and color by Abby and she was great.  At first I didn't think they were light enough but it looked great once dry.  I like my highlights very well blended and not chunky and Abby did a wonderful job.  Will definitely return again!

I got a "day of beauty" for me and my daughter -- massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and shampoo and blow dry.  We had a blast and everything was perfect (with one exception detailed below).  Summer gave me the best massage I have ever had at a spa!  Not too hard, not too soft.  Mark did a blow-dry-style that was almost unimaginable given my curly kinky hair.  He said I had never had a blow dry style like his and he was right!!  Even better, NO ONE tried to sell us product, and everyone was very nice and friendly.  Only caveat:  the woman who gave me my pedicure (older asian woman) decided my polish choice was too dark for my fingers.  She said she'd do something more "neutral" and I thought, oh well what the heck.  Then at the last minute she said "i;m going to give you some 'bling'" and before i even realized it my fingers were bubble-gum-barbie-sparkly pink!!!  YUCK!!!  Took it off the next day.  Plus she was the only one who didn't accept credit cards - I had to run over to my ATM and get cash!
But all in all the experience was so good that the 5 stars stay.  Getting my hair cut there next week :-)

I was caught in the grips of losing my favorite stylist after she moved.  Finding another stylist isn't a task for the weary.  I hopped around for a while~ aimlessly bouncing from one "stylist" to another.  I was exhausted and frizzy.  After reading many positive reviews about Millicent & Company, I decided to give it a shot.  The gals that have answered the phones have always had a cheery attitude as though they were so happy I was calling; I could feel them smiling on the other end of the line.  My initial call to schedule my first appointment was, "book me with  a stylist you would want to have do your hair" request.  She booked me with Alicia.  I am sooo glad she did.  Alicia listens to my requests and does my hair the way I WANT it done!  Now she's the only gal my daughter goes to too!  Millicent & Company is a friendly environment which offers many amenities.  I can easily say, ask for Alicia; she hasn't done me wrong yet! Thanks Alicia!!!

I just had my first and only experience with Millicent salon.  I had a haircut with Casey and was less than impressed.  The salon was nice and the experience was ok, but Ive never had a cut and style performed as quick and with as little precision as this one.  I described what I wanted, but apparently not in enough detail because while I have a VERY simple cut (straight across the back and layered around the face), the layers around my face were not done well. I wouldnt be too bothered with this considering I know its difficult to layer fine hair around the face, but I wasnt even shown the back of my hair after my cut or asked once during or after the cut if I was happy.  I still don't know if the back of my hair is straight or not since I never saw it!.  When I voiced my dislike of the front layers I was told my hair is fine and difficult to cut blended layers and no apologies or sympathy was offered.  She tried to blend them more but just ended up continuing to cut back into the hair to try to blend the choppy layers and I just had to tell her to stop cutting and  I will have to grow the choppiness out.  My previous salons, dearinger and carlton, seemed to have no trouble blending my fine layers around the face. So I will continue to commute to my beloved salon in La Jolla and forget about finding a salon in La Mesa for now.  If they had only  seemed to at least care about my opinion I wouldnt be posting this review :(

I went here a few weeks ago to get a hair cut. I read some really good reviews on Yelp so I decided to try it out. I was NOT impressed the least bit. Almost, borderline disappointed. Here's why.. first off I walk in to the reception area to check in and the receptionist is just talking to one of her co-workers about something non-work related. I just stood there and waited and then finally she turned to me and just stared at me. I had to greet her and let her know what I was there for. Shouldn't it be the other way around? then I waited for my stylist who I was appointed to for over 20 minutes. I had a very weak shampoo bowl experience which in all honesty is my favorite part. It felt very half-assed and sloppy. Then the consultation was weak as well I had to be very specific and go over things a few times to make sure she was listening. I examined the way she cut my hair and she was lacking techincal skills pretty badly. The cut (trim) came out okay. Nothing special by all means and that is okay. My only complaint is that this girl who seemed very inexperienced and lacked the professionalism and technical skills charges $45 for a cut when i could have got the same thing at super cuts for $20. She was very sweet and for that reason alone I won't put her on blast and tell you her name. two more complaints. the product shelf was filthy. I wanted to buy some products but every bottle I picked up was completely dusty. Kind of a turn off for me. Oh and lastly, when you are about to check out that is when they usually help you get product, nope. They had no interest in even answering my questions. Bottom line...they need to clean the salon more often and be a little more attentive to their new clients in order to gain retension and last but definately not least they should probably have a better training program or maybe just lower the rates for the less experienced stylists.
