Oohh my first review as an Elite! Who's excited? I'M EXCITED! I know...I know...I'm a nerd.
So, one of my best friends and I decided we should get together for dinner/drinks. She's not a drinker....so really, it's me drinking. But that's alright with me :)
We met up at Coquitlam Center and walked over. PERFECT day for it, the sun was shining on us. So nice for a walk :)
My girlfriend had already made reservations but we got there a weee bit early. So they shuffled us upstairs to the bar. And it was actually a lot nicer in the bar! I say this because the bar was not very busy, so we got to sit on couches - YAY!!
The waitress was really attentive, and had a great personality. Seemed familiar with the menu and has obviously tasted a lot of the goods on the menu (could you blame her? YUM!).
Now, when it comes to reviewing food I have to 2 categories: good and not good LOL.
This was good :) I had the baked goat cheese and flatbread - which comes with this fig dip and this cranberry relish. All very tasty dips! I'm cheese lover though, so I dug into the goat cheese.
I had The Grilled Chicken Penne Asiago because omg...why wouldn't you? It was really really good! Very filling, and yet I was able to eat the whole thing.
I then had to have dessert - so I had this cookie dough ice cream thingie they had, and wow. SO good. I could only get through 1/4 of it though, how sad.
Top that off with 3 beers, on a warm sunny day. Perfection!
Love this place, I will definitely be coming back. -

I was in Coquitlam for the past couple of days taking an R&R break from DT living, enjoying clean crisp sunny days and mountain air.
On the way home we decided to stop in at the Coquitlam Miletsone's...
I used to come here back in the day and the thought of having some appies and Palomino Pale Ale made me smile.
Even though I knew I haven't been to Milestone's for a long time this fact really came to light when the server smiled and asked "When were you here last, because we stopped calling our beer Palomino Pale Ale a long time ago lol" oops busted!!!
Well, even though it's now called Granville Island Pale Ale... It was frosty, vibrant and went down in a couple of gulps.
Now down to business:
The room is still warm and inviting.
The server was lovely, fun and enjoyed working here.
The Parmigiana Chicken Sandwich I chose instead of appies... hmmm - uhm - well let's just say the bread was half warm, half cold - the breaded chicken was dark brown, not burnt mind you, but not crispy golden brown like one would desire. It was almost like the sandwich was assembled from left over bits and pieces and warmed up.
So, although the beer was a 5, and the curly fries and salad accompanying my meal were a 4, the disappointing sandwich was a 1, and that brings the whole review to a 3.
wish it were more, say my taste buds... -

Overall a solid experience with great service. The Thai Chicken Drummettes are outstanding, the Famous Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip is great -- and for the main course I had the Seafood Fettucini. The Drummettes and the Fettucini were spiced just right for a very tasty experience.

I love the locations in Burnaby and the Coquitlam 'cause the food's great, service is polite and it's near work (Gagliardi area). My sis tried the chicken portobello, regianno over capellini, basil, garlic, chicken all on a portobello, very good. I decided to go for a cow, so I chose the slow roasted AAA prime rib, crusted with au jus. It wasn't bad, but I had to have it with a side of sauteed portobello and button mushrooms just to add a little fungus on the bovine...yum. Washed it all down with a couple of round of Vodka martini, and the evening got blurry (no I didn't drive...well kind of).

Somehow we ate here more then once (twice), however every time either me or my husband felt sick after, on top of that the last time we visited their risotto had crispy undercooked rice. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

When you look back on failed relationships the once so subtle signs of an impending break up become clear as day in retrospect.
This describes my relationship with Milestones.
We had our great times together but it was getting harder and harder to ignore the signs that there were trouble in paradise. From inconstant steaks, forgotten meals and long waits for cold entrees, I knew it was time to end things, goodbye milestones and thanks for all the fish.
And that's when our secret affair started, brunch!
Brunch is where Milestones does secretly shine. The have a good selection of benny's all topped up with home made hollandaise, having made a lot of hollandaise at home myself I do respect any restaurant that takes the time to do it right.
Sure Milestones is no longer a prominent figure in my eating life, but who couldn't use another friend with benefits? -

I don't get it. Coquitlam's Milestone's used to be the best out of the chain - now I would go to Milestone's, just not the one in Coquitlam.
Their food all taste overcooked, or flavors are just.... they used to have the 'zing' they had in their food
I'm really sad to see such a phenomenal place tarnish over the years :(
I still love Milestone's and hold it dear to my heart but I really wish they'd do something about the Coquitlam branch.
It just is not what it used to be -

One of the things hubby and I miss most about living in Canada is going to Milestone's for appys and drinks. I'm not kidding... out of all the things.
We make a point of hitting Milestone's at least twice every time we come up for a family visit. The best appys are the andouille calamari, Cajun popcorn shrimp (when they have them) and the Thai drummettes. The chocolate ganache torte is the bomb and cannot be replicated (I've tried - and failed).
The restaurant itself is very comfortable with perfect lighting. Pretty much the whole place is booth seating except a few tables. The patio is okay but the view of the highway leaves a little to be desired. We used to party here when it was the Steel Monkey. Ah, the memories... If you remember that place, you know what I'm talkin' bout. Remember those $1.50 highball Tuesday nights? Woo-hoo.
My family and friends are always telling me how Milestone's has gone downhill in service and food quality over the years but I beg to differ... at least when you just go as a couple at non peak times and not as a huge group at 7 on a Saturday night. Out of all the locations, we hit this one the most and have never been disappointed.Listed in: Oh Canada!

I was out in suburbia this week for work and came here for dinner with a group. It's typical of the Milestone's chains - decent service but the hostess wasn't that great. Lots of parking and they're running a few promotions again for the summer that are pretty good deals (e.g. 4 drinks, 4 appys for $40).
It's a safe chain if you have a group of people who have different tastes. We shared some tortillas with hot artichoke dip and pitas to start, then I had a green salad with goat cheese and their butternut squash ravioli. We shared a couple of cheesecakes and chocolate cakes to finish.
Overall good value for the price. My only major complaint is that it's pretty loud, especially on the upper floor. -

We went to Milestones like we do every year to celebrate our two kid's birthdays for the last 6-7 years!! They both really enjoy the food there since they were kids ordering from the children's menu. My daughter has really enjoyed the pasta especially the ones with lots of cheese. On this visit, we were seated by the bar with a waiter who I will not name but he's new to Milestones. When the waiter took our order, we mentioned to him we're here to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday and proceeded to order starting with the birthday girl. I ordered the meal size California Spring Salad. I told the waiter my daughter had a peanut allergy but wanted to share the salad with me and to ensure the pecans were served separately.
My 2 kids and wife got their meals while I sat there waiting for my California Spring Salad..........what seemed like 20 minutes goes by, I finally got my salad while I sat there for 10 minutes watching the family enjoy their meals. Like always the signature California Spring Salad was phenomenal! Definitely worth the wait!
Finished off our dinner with our waiter offering my daughter cookies and ice-cream. She felt it was not sophiscated enough for her and decided to order different dessert from the dessert menu. -

Milestone's is a very popular Canadian restaurant among the locals as I was told when I got to the area. I've also been hearing the radio ad on 95 Crave (streaming) for over a month. This casual restaurant itself looks very nice with nice booths, small lamps near each table, wood trim, and framed b/w pictures on the walls. The upstairs houses a banquet/function room. I stopped here for lunch and the place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of folks were waiting out in the lobby for tables to be available. I told the hostess I'll eat at the bar since I was alone and I wanted to see the NFL football highlights on the TV at the bar.
Most of the high seats at the bar counter were occupied, except for two seats next each other, but there was a big ass handbag in front of the left seat and a small pile of newspapers in front of the right seat. I asked the young couple to the right if the right seat was taken and they said no. I sat on the right seat with the small pile of newspapers in front of me. Since the two women on the left were too busy chit chatting about women's issues (I know better to DND), I moved the newspapers next to the "big ass handbag" (slightly touching) so the bartender could set up my utensils. The slightly sossed woman two seats to my left, owner of the "big ass handbag" grumbled sarcastically: "We're not in America!" I ignored this rant and pretended I didn't hear this, but I'm thinking "whatever and WTF!!" You're a very selfish drunk idiot with your "big ass handbag" hogging valuable space at the bar. Hang your stupid "handbag" on your chair so other bar patrons can have a place to sit. In America, it's about the principle and it's also not a good idea to tick off a mavericky American Yelper.
Okay, I looked over the Brunch Menu, which was limited and had several egg dishes and French toast. I asked the bartender for a regular menu and he happily obliged. The regular menu offers starters (wicked kobe beef sliders, baked goast cheese, yummy yam frites & more), salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, prime rib, seafood, chicken, pasta, comfort dishes, and desserts. For wine, 29 wines from 29 vines from BC, California, and around the world are offered. The couple next to me were really enjoying their blackberry martinis.
I had the Grilled Chicken Pesto Fettucini ($13.50 lunch size), which was a very good tasty portion. This dish had a single grilled chicken breast tossed in a rich thick pesto garlic cream sauce over al dente fettucini served with a soft foccacia triangle. The service was pretty good, with different staff taking care of things. The bartender took my order and made sure my drinks were full. Another server brought out my food and the manager cashed me out. Ignoring the "handbag woman" which had no effect on the rating, I enjoyed Miletone's, its clean casual upscale atmosphere, and the good meal I had. -

As a treat, my sister and I both decided to go to Milestone's for dessert. We decided to share a platter of dessert shots as well as a two mini cheesecakes. The waitress, who was very nice, told us that they ran out of dessert shots. That was pretty disappointing. The white chocolate cheesecake was overly sweet. It may be because I'm diabetic, but the cheesecakes that I've had in the past were definitely less sweet than the one in Milestones. It was slightly disappointing. However, I will have to give them props for presenting the dessert in such a beautiful way, complete with chocolate curls and a carefully executed swirl of sauce. We also ordered a plate of sweet potato fries, but those were pretty ordinary. I certainly wouldn't have paid $9 for something that I could have easily made at home. I may go back to dry the dessert shots and possibly the Break-Up Tub, but I don't think I'll have the cheesecake again.
