Review from Lisa C.
So, had a night out last night with my friend and we were wondering around Yaletown and Granville street areas. We had just loaded ourselves with some delicious sushi and had been doing a bit shopping/walking.
Decided to stop here to stop here for drinks and dessert to end our evening.
I had the House Cosmo and I have to say, it was the best Cosmo I've had to date!! I went with the Genashe Torte and it was SO good. Not too heavy, was chocolatey and just so good!! I'm a huge chocolate lover...and this hit the spot for sure.
And just to add a plus, our waiter was a cutie ;)
I'll come back...another cosmo and hopefully a hot waiter :D -

In general, I don't favour chains like Joeys, Cactus Club, Earl's etc. I find the food quality sub par and the prices that do not justify my culinary criteria. I ended up here as a last minute UYE change of plans, however, accepted attending this establishment 'cause in my head I thought, "regardless of service and food, I am here with the most amazing people, therefore, the company alone is worth a sitting." I was actually pleasantly surprised by the service. Our waitress was actually friendly and warm and she addressed my dietary concerns appropriately. I am used to dealing with models as waitresses who act as though they've just been dismissed on America's next top model. I will credit the service to the fact that we were there for Saturday brunch vs. heavy party weekend night Yaletown crowd.
The brunch menu selections weren't innovative, however, the execution of my one of my dishes were excellent by my standards. My brunch options are sadly limited due to being gluten free. They do get a thumbs up for now carrying gluten free hamburger buns that were used to substitute for the regular toast. At least I know of a burger joint downtown that is dietary compatible for me.
I ordered the spinach feta omelette without the cheese. The eggs were very fluffy, like eating an egg cloud. Paired with the sweet rice bun it tasted more like an oversized Tamago sushi than a waist friendly omelette. The veggies inside the omelette were nicely sautéed in butter instead of just thrown in. For something simple, it was full of flavour.
Instead of the potatoes I ordered the 1/2 stack of the pear and coconut pancakes. On paper it looked like an awesome selection, however, when received I was very unimpressed. In my head I kept thinking of ways I could execute this better. The pancakes themselves were supposed to be infused with pear and coconut. The word "infusion" can be very deceiving and I have been used that trick in my own cooking. The pancakes themselves had no taste of any of these elements. I passed the stack around so that the rest of the group could sample just to see if my taste buds were off base. Sadly, the oral consensus was in line with mine. The lime mascarpone cheese was tasty. The zest which kicks in after the bite. The vanilla syrup was awesome. I have a gluten sensitivity, and only ate 1/2 of one pancake and that still did a tummy circus with me. I just wished the batter itself was worth the circus.
I was incorrectly charge me on one of the line items which left a sour taste in my mouth. I let it go at the time which was very out of character of me. I was running late for another engagement, therefore, at the time paying $5 more was easier than the time spent on correcting the error. Although they've earned my good graces in terms of service in my books, based on the billing, I won't voluntarily be returning. -

Came here for a weekend group brunch before heading off to UBC (ack!)
I ordered the brunch bundle where you get a plate of fruit, a choice of mimosa, and either an eggs benedict or omelet of your choice.
The food: The plate of fruit I got were a mixture of strawberries, apple, orange, cantaloupe. It was kind of neat to see the cantaloupe on skewers. The fruit were fresh, so no complaints there.
I chose to get a shrimp and bacon benedict because it's been a while since I've had an eggs benedict. There could've been more shrimp since I think there was only 2-3 shrimp on each benedict. The bacon was good (mmm bacon *drools*) and I enjoyed the potatoes, although I was bit meh on having salsa on it. I also got the chance to take a bite of the pear and coconut pancakes and I really really like the pear and syrup. Don't care too much for the pancake itself.
Drink: The raspberry mimosa was a bit too sweet for me, I expected a bit more tangy, but it was good in general.
Service: Service was good. Servers were polite and prompt. Also, we got separate bills despite having like 12 people at the table, so yay for that.
Other stuff: Our table were the tables with the high chairs near the bar and honestly, I really don't enjoy that kind of table in general and most of the tables I've seen are booths, so combining tables would be pretty hard. There is however, a separate room if you're hosting some kind of party or whatever. So, it's not as friendly for big groups as I would expect.....Also, location is good, plenty of shops near by and the skytrain station is just a block away. However, parking is very limited (and expensive), so if you happen to be here during the weekend, go park at Pacific Centre with their $6.00 fee for the entire day!Listed in: Food!

Review from Meana k.
Today I joined a group for brunch, but I myself ordered off the lunch menu. I ordered the grilled salmon wrap which was decent and I ate every bite. It came on a nice black pepper naan bread with a perfect amount of arugula inside. I could have used a lot more flavor whether it be spices, salt, or just something a little stronger in taste. The only part of the sandwich that stood out was the red onions, which I loved. I had the option of salad or fries, or for a couple bucks more, I could upgrade to yam fries which is what I chose. I figured I'd take the healthier option. The yam fries ended up being enjoyed by my tablemates after I couldn't finish them -- that was a big serving.
I also tried a few bites of the pear and cocunut infused pancakes with vanilla syrup and marscapone lime creme. While I didn't taste the flavors within the pancakes, I have to say this was a nice dish. The syrup wasn't very sweet, nor were the pancakes, so I think if I ever came back for brunch I might consider this dish.
I tried a bite of the prime rib off another friend's plate, which was tasty as well.
Service was pleasant. Not very personable but attentive and considerate, and they went through the effort of providing our party with separate bills. However, I was overcharged for my salmon wrap. I thought maybe I was mis-remembering the price, but when I revisited the menu, it turned out I was in fact overcharged. That's just annoying.
One thing I did NOT like was the ceasar. What a waste of a double shot. It was too sweet, overly iced, and tasted so diluted I couldn't even taste the alcohol. Waste of money. Waste of calories. Big disappointment.
I just don't really find any reason to come back, but would be willing to give it another chance if there was a group event here. The food and service overall was pretty mediocre for me. I actually prefer the food at both Earl's and Cactus Club over Milestones, and for that reason, I just can't even give this place a 3 star rating. -

Had a chance to try out their Brunch menu.
Parking still sucks here.
Their pancakes are really something. The pancakes are a bit thicker than your average ones, but it's the toppings. They come with lime mascarpone, and vanilla syrup with pear slices inside. This is really something. I ended up spreading the mascarpone on everything. It could use a bit more lime, but it was freaking good.
I had their Californian omelette. It had a couple of strips of bacon and some tomatoes, but was honestly quite bland. Thank goodness for ketchup and Tabasco sauce. It came with hash browns (potato chunks) with a small blip of salsa, and half a strawberry and a cantaloupe.
I also had a chance to try some of their Prime rib hash. There is so much meat in this thing, PETA would throw a fit. One thing to note though is that this dish is quite salty. So watch your blood pressure.
So it seems to be hit or miss. If I were to do it again, I'd split an order of pancakes and hash with a friend, but avoid the omelette.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Flew in from LA and met some girlfriends at what I thought was a local hangout. I didn't realize this was a chain until I looked it up later and realized there's one every 1/2 mile in downtown Vancouver. I never would have guessed, it was pretty damn good. The miso cod was AMAZING. They also have the yummiest Bellini I've ever tasted. I've never had one blended before =)
Had to take it down one star for the service. It wasn't that busy and our server left us dry too many times. -
Review from Irena L.
I'm usually not a fan of chain restaurants since the food tends to be quite generic.
This place was really a pleasant surprise.
My girlfriend suggested to go to Milestones for brunch, and since I've eaten at Milestones before (dinner mostly) I was reluctant, but she insisted. The place is very yaletowney and was smokin' busy.
Brunch deal is pretty good, not expensive at all. And above all, both service and food were above expected. Our server was very pleasant and prompt despite the full section she had. Food took a while, but not too long; and I can understand that. i had a signature breakfast wrap which was delicious and my friend got an ultimate brunch bundle. She was quite pleased with it as well! -

I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but I'm never against anywhere that offers good food. They make a delicious Prime Rib Hash here that really hits the spot when your in the mood for a hearty brunch.
The service at this particular chain is really good, the servers are all very polite, courteous and attentive. I had an issue with my Hash on one particular visit and I told the manager just to let her know so that it wouldn't happen to anyone else and the manager very graciously comped my meal (which I totally wasn't expecting, so it was a really nice touch).
Their juice also comes in LARGE glasses that are great for glugging with. Sometimes a person needs a lot of juice to chug to enjoy a brunch experience more. -

I LOVE this place. As a visitor of the city, I was adament about going to different places and trying different food, but this is definitely one of the places that I visited 2 times in my week of visiting Vancouver.
Customer Service is FANTASTIC here. During my 2nd visit, my waitress Samantha was a doll. We went here on a Monday night so we did the Girl's Night out special with 4 appetizers and 4 Bellinis for $40. My friend broke her martini glass by accident, Samantha was very nice and kind about the incident and cleaned up the mess and arranged for a new bellinis without any attitude, snear remarks, or even a hint of annoyance.
When we decided to order 2 entrees to share among 4 people, Samantha organzied everything to be split evenly between each person, even without us asking! What service! It is rare that I ever had a server who was so attentive, nice, easy-going, and friendly.
If I was a resident, I would go back again. Food is mediocre, but from my experience hanging out, there is nothing better about having a good time than getting good service.
FYI...Went there the 2nd time because the Baked Goat Cheese and Garlic Flatbread appetizer was soooooo goood that we were craving for more...... -
Review from Nicole F.
Normally I try not to review chains, but I'm bored.
Tuesday nights at Milestone's are perfect for getting all the ladies together and chatting over the delicious Bellinis that are on special. You never know which plastic animal will be sticking out the top of the sweet sweet boozey slush. Although on my most recent visit... they were little red plastic high heels! Cute.
Lex B and I tried Baked Goat Cheese and Garlic flatbread. It was pretty decent! The goat cheese wasn't terribly overpowering and the plate also came with cranberry jam and fig jam and a big giant baked bulb of garlic.
Next time: More garlic and more goat cheese! The ratios were a bit off and we had tons of the jams leftover.
I liked the washrooms here. Each toilet is an entire private room! They were clean and quiet. -

Review based on Sunday brunches:
A beautifully designed Milestone restaurant that (time-after-time I've noticed) is the busiest lunch / brunch spot in Yaletown on Sundays. High ceilings, natural lighting, sophisticated modern decor, an outdoor patio and lots of seating for groups - I absolutely adore the space, chain or no chain!
- Milestone California Spring Salad ($13) - So much love for this salad - one of my favs! Highly recommend!
- Grilled Seafood Salad ($19) - This amazing salad plus a small appy would be a perfect portion to share with a friend. Highly recommend!
- Prime Rib Hash ($14). Four people I was with ordered this; they were all stuffed and very satisfied. One can be shared by two people.
Haven't been here for late-night, but brunch x3 has sold me on this location. -
Review from Vincci L.
On a busy Saturday night, we ventured here since we were in dire need of food.
Even the restaurant didn't look too busy, we still had to wait about 10 minutes before we got a table. A table right in front of the hallway of the bathrooms and kitchen.
Anyhow, it didn't matter to us at the time since we just wanted food. Started off with some waters, and then when the waitress brought back our waters, even though we were ready to order, she just walked away. This resulted in waiting another 20 minutes for her to come back.
To start, we got a roasted mushroom and goat cheese risotto balls, it was served with a tomato-y sauce, which was a little to sour and didn't complement it too well. The whole idea was good though.
We also shared a Californian burger, which was a decent burger. Substituted the fries for yam fries, but they were pretty bad yam fries. They were either re-fried, or they were over cooked. Not really impressed.
Service for the night was quite slow, and the location of our table made it seem impossible to get anyone's attention.
So I've been to this location several times before and each time was just ok. I think I'm going to stick to the Crossroads Milestones. -

BAD SERVICE!!!
Between Milestone's, Cactus Club and Earls, I think Milestone's food is worst of all of them, but if people want to get together there, I am not here to complain and make fuss about it. Last night, I was invited to my boyfriend's friends surprise party and I was seated very corner and far back of long table (the table was against a glass). It was about 20 of us, some ate, some had drink and some just keep us company with lots of laugh and talks. I had a glass of wine and my boyfriend had 2 glasses of beer. Since we were very far corner of the table, my water was empty half of the night, I was not asked if I want another glass of wine, my boyfriend's beer was passed down from top of the table to him. Basically we did not get service, yet, it was bunch of us and I didn't care to complain or actually, to busy having a conversation with friends. We were having good time. 2 hours later and bill came and it was $27. I assume gratuity was included with our bill (since it was a big party) and I gave our waiter $30.00 I didn't ask for a change because he was scrambling to cleaning his tables.
He came back, and said "big group has automatic gratuity of 15%, and its about $32.00" front of everyone. I was shocked!
because
A) his service was horrible
B) I guess he doesn't make that much money from being a waiter and need another $2.00
Don't get me wrong, my brother is in the restaurant business and I am pretty generous with tipping IF I RECEIVE AMAZING SERVICE!
Everyone at the table thought that was rude, and couldn't believe he actually asked for $2.00 for his poor service, because it is "automatic 15% gratuity rule"
so what is Gratuity?
http://en.wikipedia.or...
I paid for my wine, for my tax...and I thought tip was saying "Thank you for your amazing service" but what would you do if you get the worst service? Still give 15%???
I won't go back unless I have to, but I don't know how management train that restaurant chain? -

Went to Milestones in Yaletown tonight. I like this place because the staff is friendly, it is not as crowded as Cactus Club and generally seems to attract less drama than the foregoing as well. Meaning, all the wannabe's usually stay outta there, probably because you can't show up in your new (leased) BMW5 right in front of the door to impress some girls who have a smoke. Anyway where was I... oh yes: food! :)
Today I had some basics: California Burger with Curly fries and a couple Mojito's. Drinks were well made and strong, who regulary goes out for Drinks in this town knows that means something. Actually Milestones and George's have the best Mojitos in the city IMHO, who disagrees please feel free to give me a shout as I'm open to get proven wrong.
Food came fast and the waiter checked multiples times if all was well. Very satisfied with both, service and food. I generally like to sit at the bar when I go by myself. So today, it was a little packed with pre-halloween folks getting into the mood. ;)
All in all another great visit to Milestones. Keep it up!
Cheers

To be honest, I have a natural aversion to over-priced chain restaurants, so Milestones never really stood much of a chance at a positive review. I have been here a handful of times, and each time was as mediocre as the last. The food always seems destined for meh-ness. Every time I go, I think about the deliciousness I could be having at Medina or Twisted Fork for the same price.

Milestones houses the best salad in the world. Grilled Chicken Salad. I had this everyday for one summer in University and often think I don't have this enough. Their service is always superb and the room is very comfortable. They're never too busy, which I guess is bad for the restaurant but you never have to wait too long for a seat. They also have pretty good brunches and good desserts. The second best salad in the world is from Earls.

The Yaletown location managed to food poison my friend, by serving him raw chicken. It was the chicken and mushroom dish, so he didn't notice until a few bites in. The chicken was basically seared on the outside, and cold and pink on the inside. The manager was mortified, comped the meal and told head office, who made amends with a gift card. I have to say Milestones management handled the situation very well.
However, after being served raw chicken it doesn't make you want to go back. -

(note: I wrote the rest of the review first, but realized that in typical Yelp fashion, there was little actual substance before the real information got presented. Here you go - wonderful yam frites, and the veggie burger with the 4-cheese topping is probably one of the best I have had. Not that one usually expects gourmet in a veggie burger, but the 4-cheeses really make it. Trust me on this one! Local brews are on tap, and the Granville Island Honey Lager hit the spot. The East Bombay martini and the pomegranate martini that the little lady had were first class. The food truly was superb, just that the drinks were a little expensive. Actually, the martinis were reasonable, but the beer could be a little less pricey, as we discovered for the same beer later on in the weekend.)
Milestone's was our first stop for a meal after we checked in to our new home-for-four-days in Vancouver. We walked pretty much aimlessly down to the water - I was iPhone-blind, not having any network to go off of, so we just walked down to the water. (damn you Rogers! Just give me a prepaid data plain that isn't indentured slavery and I'll buy a prepaid SIM card!!) We came upon the upscale Hamilton St. district, where you can buy a Mini in any flavor of automotive coolness you desire, and everyone wears black.
Did I mention everyone wears black? I think I did. Remind me later to mention . . . that everyone. wears. black. in. vancouver. especially in the more upscale (yuppified!) areas.
Not that that's a bad thing. I caved and went to the all-black side of the wardrobe by the end of our weekend.Listed in: Vancouver for Yankees, or…

I'm in love with a chain restaurant. Ugh, and it's Milestones. WTF?
Milestones has been around forever and it used to be a really hot place to go in the 90's when the whole earls/cactus club/milestones we're-a-chain-but-dont-really-look-like-it-oligopo ly was being established. Over the years it seems to lose out to the other two and didn't open new restaurants at anywhere near the rate. Probably had a bit to do with their seeming refusal to hire like a Hooters would as does Cactus Club and to a lesser extent Earls. However, a large part was the food. It seemed that they'd do odd things with the recipes just for the hell of it.
Well, they've revamped their menu and let me say: OMG Beef Dip!
I've always been a fan of beef dip, it's a meal that's tasty and lets you play with your food without appearing to do so. Can't lose really. The Milestones Beef Dip is a stunning collection of juicy beef, a nice bun with the right texture and density which is critical to sop up their gravy that has the perfect consistency. Skip the fries and go with a salad so you can think you're getting out under 1500 calories (you wont).
As to the other food here since I've rediscovered Milestones, I er, well haven't had any other dish in the six times I've been since I've rediscovered this place... -

I was looking for a place suitable to eat with kids in Yaletown and this was it. It was OK but nothing more.
Service was on the slow side despite not being very busy.
My daughters' cheese sandwich and soup were a hit.
Bruschetta was ok but not spectacular.
Red curry chicken was not what I expected at all and was just spicy without being flavorful.
Kids drink never turned up. -

"Milestone's?" you ask. "But isn't it a chain?" Yes, it is- but they do a better job of it here in Yaletown than elsewhere. Abandon whatever conceptions of this place you had prior to visiting the Hamilton St. location (such as those established in the airport, mall...), as they're not entirely accurate.
Now bear in mind this is still Milestone's, not Lumiere, but it's a good experience for those looking to enjoy some good appys, a few drinks, or a casual meal.
The interior is kind of dark, but in a good way with a sleek, private and calm feel. The service there is very good, and very knowledgeable in the way of wines. We were happy to find that our server could give us the run down on a number of wines produced in BC. With a bottle of Chardonnay as a start, we ordered something involving tuna and a spring roll- two items that I no longer believe are on the menu.
The food was delicious and satisfying, but not overly memorable. It was something to pick at over conversation and fill the hunger void in a semi-sophisticated way. We did enjoy our wine, and the atmosphere was conducive to our discussion, relaxing, and ultimately our mild inebriation. I will look back fondly on Milestone's as it suited the occasion (or lack thereof) well.
One last word of advice, if you are there to indulge in a bellini or six, ask for the 'Fish Bowl' bellini. It feels like five or six or seven bellinis for the price of two. Share with friends! -

Review from Jessica P.
For a first night meal, I really had a good time.
Kind of swanky for my tired and battered soul, but all in all, a good choice. I notice Vancouver really doesn't have a said demographic for any establishment, I like that.
You've got the bachelorette party on one side, the Michael Rosenbaum look alike on your left, an older couple in a booth, a family with a 5 year old behind us and the beautiful people (all in black, as Joe mentioned) enveloping us. And this is just a normal Saturday night.
I had the pomegranate martini which was divine, but a little too sweet for my tastes. I switched up to a sake and Bombay gin cocktail which was more my speed, called the East Bombay.
The yam frites were indeed delicious, with a little Asian fusion flare for the dipping sauces.
I ordered something simple, the American cheeseburger. I know, I know, you're in Vancouver, why eat a hamburger of all things? Well, it's not something I indulge in everyday, I needed some protein and it was damn tasty. Grade A beef with fresh veggies and a very tasty cheese selection.
Very inviting off Hamilton street in an area more suited for back alley romance if you know what I mean. It's in a strip of bars, restaurants and other boutiques, but the lure of the interior and the fireplace really got my attention. A little on the pricey side, but it's ok to splurge, I was on vacation.
That, and the wine list is pretty enjoyable as well. Just don't be a pansy. (see pic)Listed in: If Vancouver can, so can vu!

We came here after the game and we were seated quite quickly. The environment is nice and clean a very trendy place to go in Yaletown. However the food was mediocre at best, all my friends ordered burgers and the fries were soggy and cold. My seafood risotto was small and over priced. We won't be coming back again.

Amongst locally established chains, I've always favoured Milestone's. The food was always less greasy and more interesting than their peers. In the time that has past since I was last there, they seem to be trying to re-establish themselves to appeal to a higher-end clientele resulting in cuisine that is less filling, wanky and over-priced.
The portions are considerably smaller. I am rarely able to finish a meal in its entirety so I am not usually one to complain about quantity. On this recent visit, however, even I found the portion size insufficient. The artichoke and spinach dip was about a third of the size it used to be. Quality, too, by no means quantified the price points designated to each dish. Overall, I was greatly disappointed. -
Review from Jenni B.
I prefer to avoid chains, especially when in Yaletown, but have ended up here on a few occasions. The decor is significantly hipper than the other Milestones scattered around the lower mainland, the menu is standard and they have lots of yummy options. I am always happy when I see Voga pinot grigio on a wine list.
I have been here with very large, and typically drunk and obnoxious groups and I must say the servers don't seem to mind too much, which makes this place suitable for such occassions.
This location is good for a dinner with a big group and/or predrinks before hitting up Granville (or other) clubs. -
Review from David L.
Good quality food with snobby service. If you want water, the servers will ask you if you want tap water or bottled water?!? I do believe everyone knows that Vancouver tap water is one of the safest sources of water in North America.
Milestone's in Yaletown is great for brunch but service is way too snobby for such a casual establishment. This place is still worth a trip if you want to go for dinner and you're willing to be put up with snobby servers. -

It's a chain restaurant, so you know what to expect when you go into Milestones. But it's a nicer sort of chain and Canadian (in BC, Alta and Ontario), so it still has some surprises to many guests.
Bellinis, eggs benny, caesars and the spinach/artichoke dip are always favourites of mine at any Milestones location. This particular location in Yaletown has a great patio which is the perfect place to relax and people watch.
I have been here a few times, but most recently with some family visiting town, including three kids under 12. The service was excellent, they kept the kids happy and had a menu sophisticated enough to suit the parent's needs as well. Everyone left satisfied and happy and the bill wasn't a shocker. So it was a great choice for the occasion! -

I got stuck here before Rob Thomas on Wednesday because I was out voted! I tried for Cibo but got shot down. Two decided on Moxies! I finally got to get everyone to agree on Milestones, as sort of middle ground...which didn't make me happy. I am not a chain girl - don't like Cactus Club, Earls or Milestones but get stuck going to them at times! Seriously, for the money you pay, there are much better options for food out there! Anyway, I digress...
The restaurant was nice in that same Cactus Club way, service was also very nice and pleasant. I have nothing at all to complain about there. We ordered 7 appetizers between 4 and 1 had an entree too. I could list all the appy's but there's nothing much to talk about - nothing stood out - nothing was really worth mentioning. They were small and at about 10 bucks a piece there was not 2 bites each on all of them. IE - there was 6 prawns, 6 dry garlic ribs, shrimp & artichoke dip was tiny - embarrassing really, etc..etc...we actually started out ordering 4 appys which we thought would be enough...but no...I will just say that because we are not usual dining out partners, it was a little awkward eating...no one wanted to do something that made anyone mad, like eat 2 bites.. :-)
I have to say that the one who had never been to Milestones, who demanded Moxies was very impressed. The other 2 were happy. I was just "meh" and wished we had gone to Cibo (I still haven't been & want to try it out)! You won't see me return unless I'm out voted again! My one friend said I'm a food snob. I said, "No, I just like GOOD food and value for what you pay for!"...
My portion of the bill was $43, then $50 after tip. That was 2 glasses of wine and 2 appys. For that price - for me alone, I'd like to be full...and happy! -

We settled on Milestone's because, of all the restaurants in Yaletown on a Friday night, it was the most crowded. And by "most crowded" I mean "it had more than two tables occupied."
It turned out to be a decent choice -- chic interior, tasty cocktails, good-enough food and friendly service.
But would I say "OMG if you go to Vancouver you should go to Milestone's!"?
Naaaah. -

For a quick summary, I'd say Milestones for dinner is expensive, with very limited choices for vegetarians, but the location/decor is nice, and the server we had was good.
Now for the meat and bones of my review:
I'll start with the good. This is the swank Yaletown Milestone's, and to fit in with the neighbours, they were sure to make it modern. But also very dark. The booth seats are quite comfortable, and there is room to stick purses behind or beside you. There's even a coat check at the front of the restaurant. The bathrooms are private rooms, lined up down their own hallway, with their own sinks and pretty mirrors on the walls. So the atmosphere gets a solid 4/5.
And now the bad. What I was disappointed in were the prices and the menu selection. It's mostly standard chain food, with nothing really original standing out. But the prices were so high. One of the chicken dishes looked all right, but I sure as hell wasn't going to pay $19 for something I could make at home. We had had some appies that my dining companions had already ordered, and they were decent. I was hungry, but decided to get something vegetarian, since I had already eaten meat in the appy, so I ordered the only vegetarian main, the butternut squash ravioli. I happen to be a big fan of butternut squash ravioli, and that sounded great for a cold day (though it's the same thing you'll get at any of the other chains and they charge a fortune for it). I was informed the chef had removed all raviolis from the menu, for some unknown reason. A little annoyed that the only marked veggie entree had been taken away, I asked what else there was. The server pointed out that the gluten-free spaghettini was also a vegetarian option, but I wasn't about to pay for rice noodles and pasta sauce. Lame. He suggested a stir fry with extra veggies added instead of chicken. Sure, fine, let's do that, it's one of the cheaper options.
My other friend had the same stir fry with the chicken and she certainly got a better deal. Instead of extra peppers and mushrooms as I was expecting, I got some steamed bok choy thrown on top. One of the cheapest vegetables you can buy. Thanks, jerks. And it's not like I paid less for my meal. This is what I hated about being a vegetarian when I was one. There's absolutely no respect at most restaurants, and there is no effort made to create something tasty and interesting as a main. Instead you are offered salad. Because I want to pay huge prices to eat a salad when going out with friends? Eff you! It's not hard to make a good vegetarian dish. Therefore they get 1 star for my meal and their menu options. Boooo.
So for 1 crappy entree, 1/4 of an appy, and 1 bellini, I ended up paying over $30 including tax and tip. Not cool.
As an aside, I have been to Milestone's (other locations) for brunch, and the brunch is good. I just wouldn't ever go back for dinner. -

Have to give props to this location for the patio (perfect for brunch on a sunny Sunday morning) and the service. I ordered the mushroom omelette and explained to our server that I couldn't eat gluten. So she checked with the kitchen and informed me that even the potatoes contained gluten. Then a few minutes later she informed me that the omelette had a cream sauce that also contained gluten, so I asked for one made without the sauce. Overall, I really appreciated her concern and thorough checking on ingredients with the kitchen staff - otherwise I would have thought an omelette would be safe! The food itself, even without the potatoes and cream sauce, was delicious and a generous portion. I will definitely add this to my list of go-to Yaletown brunch destinations, especially on a patio-worthy day.

Hmm... I think I love this place. Only after I went did I learn that it was a chain. I was taking a short vacation with my brother in Downtown Vancouver (we're from the States), and having read on the Tourism Vancouver website that Yaletown had really good restaurants, we settled on Milestones.
I had ordered off the Taste of Yaletown menu, which lucky for us had just started the day before.
For the appy I ordered the Garlic Caesar Salad. I don't often eat dishes with roasted garlic, and I can't for the life of me understand why. This was probably the best tasting (or second best tasting) Caesar I have ever eaten.
For the entree I had the Grilled Sweet Soy Salmon. I don't usually eat fish, but I figured I would go out on limb and I am glad I did. The Salmon was very tender and succulent. I am now officially a fan of Salmon. The salmon was served on white rice with a very tasty soy sauce mix (and a few veggies on the side).
My brother wanted some ribs, but could only find an appetizer of braised ribs. We didn't know exactly what braised meant, but we quickly found out it meant dry and salty. Also, the portions were a bit meager for the cost. He definitely had a bad pick.
For desert I had bowl of vanilla ice cream with caramel topping (see photo). It was a good end to a good meal. All the food came on fancy (for us) white dishes.
If I weren't on vacation, $25 for a meal would be too much, but it was the experience I was after. For me, it was money well spent. As a good side bonus, all the ladies working there and even most of the ladies eating there were fine! I am sure know it's because it was the rich part of downtown but it still made the night that much more enjoyable. I ended up tipping the waitress a bit excessively, but let's face it, I was the one that screwed up the math, she was nice and gave good service, she was VERY attractive, and she didn't didn't yell at me when she noticed I was staring at her chest during water refills. (I know, I am a pig; normally I can control myself but IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE AT EYE LEVEL, so c'mon.) -

I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner, or just for drinks.
Everytime I come to Vancouver I make sure I plan a stop here. They have the best cocktails and it is in fact home to the best frozen Bellinis ever -- it tastes like a peach slurpee!
If you get fries or anything dipable make sure you get the watercress dip (its well worth the extra charge)!
+ Bellinis! (You get a little plastic figurine as memorabilia)
+ Watercress Dip!
+ Brunch! (Mimosas + Omelets + More Mimosas = AWESOME)
+ Easily accessible -- there are many of them around the Vancouver area -

Every time I go to this Milestone's, I want to really enjoy the food.
Every time I go, I am underwhelmed.
The first time I went to a Milestone's was to enjoy the fabled Bellinis. Sharing these drinks with good friends while engaging in humorous conversation was always fun--especially while looking out on English Bay at the Denman location.
The Yaletown location has a beautiful, modern and relaxing interior design. The service has always been good, and the staff--good looking.
Even the bathrooms are great! So 5 stars so far, right?
The menu is full of fancified entrees which always sound so delicious. Once they arrive at the table, however, your hopes start to deflate. The food always seems, for some reason, uninspired. Although the ingredient list of the items seems like 5 stars, the taste is always three stars. And that one time, at Milestone's, when I ordered the meatloaf... there were bone chips ground into the ground meat. I almost broke another tooth! (1 star, for that!)
This morning (Sunday) I went wandering around Yaletown looking for a good breakfast. I stopped by Blenz, and their breakfast pastries and breads looked unappealing. Walked by another favorite breakfast place, and the line was too long. Walked into some French coffee/bakery and their pastries looked wonderful, but they were playing horrible, loud dance club music on a Sunday morning. Is that an "oxymoron"? So, I finally stumbled into Milestone's. The atmosphere was perfect for someone still shaking the slumber from their brain. Cool, calm jazz playing in a semi-dark light with great service and very good coffee. Again, the food was just O.K.
I recommend coming here for a great atmosphere when you are with fun people. You can drink, listen to good music, think you are cool, enjoy looking at the local talent, and have some food as an afterthought. That way you won't be disappointed. -

THIS is what a restaurant is supposed to be!
one of the best dining experiences of my life, NO JOKE. Was in Vancouver for a wedding, and Hunny and i decided to hit up the happenin' streets of "Yaletown" for some dinner the night before the wedding.
Walking the streets, we noticed this place right off the bat -- a huge fireplace roaring behind the attentive hostesses who open the door for you with the push of a button, just as you are walking up. Fantastic!
It wasn't overly crowded which, for a Saturday night, surprised us -- but we realized we are used to these teeny tiny Seattle restaurants, and this place had ample seating. Young and hip, the patrons all looked to be having a great time.
The lighting is perfect, ambiance second to none. The wait staff was attentive and polite -- trained beautifully. But it was the little details in decor that really stood out to us. Cloth napkins and your own personal pepper grinder at each table... pieces of driftwood adorned the backs of the booths, random rocks at tables, very earthy, warm, natural.
HOWEVER, the best best best part of the entire place (Besides their BEAUTIFUL Bellini's) are the bathrooms. You walk into the back and there are about 15 doors, brightly painted, with 'vacancy' or 'occupied' on each handle to show weather or not a stall is open. Once you walk in, you have your very own personal bathroom -- including sink, full length mirror, the works. was fantastic! genius, really!
After dinner, some friends met us and we headed to the bar, where you are able to TEXT the DJ with your song preferences, and he actually texted back a confirmation, and typically your song played within the next couple songs. was fantastic! Got a bit busy and the staff at the bar could've been a bit more attentive, but that didn't sway my opinion of this place in ANY shape or form.
If you are planning a trip to Vancouver BC, i highly recommend this place. It is a moment in time you will not soon forget. So, i suppose the restaurant name is perfectly fitting. -

I was organizing my girlfriend's birthday party and after hours of agonizing where to go, I stumbled upon Yelp trying to look for places to hold large parties and I'm glad that I did.
This Milestone's is great for large parties. We had about 20 people come out and Jessica, who was our server, was fabulous. Service really makes a difference here.
The Yaletown location is very nice (re: Carolyn's review below). Nice, classy. The group tables are located in the bar / lounge area. High table / chairs, but it's okay because as the host, I was able to move around easily.
Even a plus, I brought the birthday present a few hours beforehand and they were more than happy to store it for me and even brought it out when the cake was presented.
Excellent choice, check it out for a large group if you're not into the Yaletown Brewing Company / Cactus Club scene. -

3.5 stars. I don't know why people knock this place so hard. I had the butternut squash ravioli and it was good. My friends liked their meals too, both pastas. Also nice decor on the inside and our server was super friendly and attentive.

Milestone's, with its swanky sleek uber-chic interior, sure doesn't look like a chain to me. Or maybe that's cos I was used to the Denny's and the Chili's and the TGIFs of the world. This is what living in the US does to you.
Their brunch was decent - I particularly liked the Milestone's signature eggs benny, but then again it's not that easy to mess up this dish, and the potatoes and the sourdough slices are OK but nothing to write home about.
We're just glad it was post-Winter olympics and the prices were no longer jacked up by 20%.
