I've been here 4 times now, and each time it's for large quantities of pizza and beer.  I find that the pizza is higher quality than some other places nearby and overall very flavorful.  My only gripe is that it is really really heavy, but then again it's pizza so how can you really complain.

When you come for dinner and order entrees, they give you really really delicious bread.  Their spaghetti is pretty good as well.  Beer is cheap, service is good, and every time I've been, it hasn't been that crowded.

I came here with my friends for a birthday celebration and we had about 20-25 people.  Of course with cash only, that's not optimal, but it all worked out.

    I will definitely be back.

Yet another mediocre restaurant in the inner sunset.

The pizza here is average at best.  Limited topping selection; too much cheese, lackluster crust.  To boot, slices are made 'to order.'

In my opinion, slices should only be made like regular pizza.  Added toppings never never cook in right.  Unfortunately, if you can't do enough slice business, this is the nature of the beast.Additionally, I waited just under twenty minutes from when my slice of cheese went into the oven, until when I asked them to remove it because I was running late for the bus.  I had asked how long for slices, was told 10 minutes prior to ordering.  They had no incoming orders..  my toaster oven could do better.

Seriously, what is it with people on the west coast cooking pizza @ 400?  Crank that s#$% up to 550, get some screens in there.  Terrible.

    They're open until midnight.

Friday night and the neighborhood restaurants are hopping, but this place was slow (red flag #1) it smelled good as we're walking by, so we dropped in.  We were to seat ourselves, so we headed to the back room, away from the open kitchen.  Welcome to 1970!?!  Old crappy photos of nobodies cover every inch of the walls.  Our waitress was polite but not really personable.  We walked in at 7:50 and our food arrived at 8:45 = FAIL  at least we were given cold potato bread with butter bricks... = fail
I asked for no onion on my pizza, and the waitress set it down and said "here's your pizza without onion"  and sure enough there's onion on it.  =TOTAL FAILURE as I am allergic to it!

parking = street... good luck with that
    service = very slow
    ambiance = cheesy 70's
food = OK, not great, just OK, our dinner was only $40 but we felt that we overpaid for our dinning experience tonight...

next time we'll be going to Pizza Orgasmic or over to North Beach...

Worst pizza ever. I'm not even going to get into the taste of the pizza because frankly, there isn't none. And if you're looking for quantity over quality, this is your place because they offer a dough-ful pizza.

What really widen my eyes (and really disturbed my appetite) was when I saw the guy that prepared our pizza held the trash can with his bare hands while looking in and then continued placing pepperoni on our pizza with the SAME pair of bare hands without being washed!!!!!!!!!

I'm literally flipping off the walls when I saw it, thank god it was my boyfriend that ordered the pepperoni. Oops, maybe I should have said something.....

An 'old school' pizzeria with average at best pizza.  The venue is everything you would expect from your stereo-typical pizzeria- and features a great back-room for large crowds.  Very child friendly as well.  I'll be here for the next birthday party but not for my next pizza night.  Try Giorigio's or Village Pizza for better 'low-cost' pizza within this category.

I haven't been to many Italian eateries, but man is this place good.  I did order a slice of pizza, which was ok, i believe it was the Jack and Dolores Special. It had the makings of a regular pizza with chunky pesto on it.  I love pesto, but this was too basil-y for me.
What won me over was the homemade Lasagna.  Its prepared in its own ceramic dish  brought to you table with the cheese just spilling out of it.  It was ssoo good.  We had the side of Garlic bread, 4 pieces, man that itself can fill you up and give you strong garlic breath, but delish!  I would defiantly come here for the pastas, but not so much for the pizza.. eventually I will give pizzas here a second chance

I just moved back to the sunset and was pleased to fined Milanos still there. Has not changed much. We orderd a large pizaa with pepperoni. and a order of pesto bread still yummy. Still the same owners and still open late. Its good to see some of the mom and pop places still here. We will be back again for late night pizza.

The decor here is very hole in the wall, but thank Milano's for being open past 9pm on a weeknight. In fact, open until 11pm. Wonderful.

My sister had just flown in from NYC and Alembic was a 45 minute wait, as was NOPA. So Milano it was. We ordered the salad (tasty), lasagna (super big, super cheesy, super tasty), and spaghetti (tasty).

The best part was the $5 anchor steam pitcher deal. Milano's did the job for us like I'm sure it will in the future when I'm scrounging for food late at night. Thanks!

No-frills spaghetts, no-frills ravioli, cold bread... but there's definitely some merit in getting what you expect, and with friendly, genuine staff. The Fat Tire is nice and properly chilled, too.

This is the best pizza place in the city.

This is savory full-flavored pizza.  There are few things I enjoy more than a slice (or three) of mushroom from Milano's.

Their baked spaghetti is pretty damn good too.

My husband and I chose this place Thursday night because of the awesome smells that waft out into the street from inside. Inside, it was warm and inviting, and the guy behind the counter immediately greeted us and let us know we could sit wherever we liked. There weren't too many people inside, but there was a good showing. Our waitress was very prompt and helpful - in fact, everyone who worked there seemed in good spirits and genuinely nice. Lucky night? Who knows!

I ordered a slice of the Ultimate Vegetarian (asked for minus the olives, plus tomatoes) and my husband got the linguine with pesto (requested with extra veggies on top) - the waitress said our changes to the menu items would be no problem, which was surprising and pleasing. I didn't want to be a pain in the ass and was prepared to accept that no changes could be made, but it was all okay, and done with a smile even.

And done well!  The pasta was perfectly cooked, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the sauce was flavorful. My pizza was hot, not too cheesy, and the crust was awesome. Quite garlicky, so beware.

Oh yeah - and the bread that came with the pasta. It was just the plain kind, but holy crap. They gave us four enormous slices of this amazing, WARM, soft and fluffy homemade bread. It was very basic, but it wasn't trying to be anything different and it excelled at that. Damn that was good bread. Next time we're trying the garlic kind.

Not 5 stars yet because we need to try more stuff.  Also, my husband went in the bathroom but hastily left without using it because, cryptically, "something wasn't right in there." Sketchy or nasty, dunno.

    We will be back!

On New Year's Eve my friend was DJ'ing at the Social Kitchen Brewery that's next door. We stopped in here multiple times throughout the night for pizza. First of all- the pizza is fantastic. Even if you order a single slice, they make it fresh from your order, so everything you get is delicious and hot.

That's not why I'm writing this review, though. When I came in here, I was standing in line for the bathroom. The guy ahead of me was drunk- too drunk. He had just puked all over the sink and toilet, and he had a friend trying to help him. He stumbled out of the bathroom and ended up face-down on a table. A woman who was working there that night- Lindsay (not sure if that's how you spell it)- took great care of him. She got him plenty of water and immediately broke out the mop to help the friend clean up the mess.

Despite all the chaos of NYE and a drunk idiot making a mess, Lindsay was still able to give us super fast and friendly service. A friend of mine came in later on, and Lindsay appeared immediately with a glass of ice water- "Can I get you anything? Soda? The menu?" We were definitely impressed.

So this review is about Lindsay, who went above and beyond the call of duty to give us fantastic service while dealing with some poor kid that partied too hard with the utmost professionalism.

My experience here was very lovely!

I came here with a friend to grab a quick bite to eat on a gray sprinkly day in SF.

This place is medium sized with dark lighting. The atmosphere is really casual and friendly. The man who worked the cashier, attended us was super attentive, prompt and nice! He checked up on us regularly and made sure we always had water.

We sat the first booth coming into the restaurant. I love booths! Their menu contains a variety of items and a wide range of toppings/special pizzas. I got a slice of the Jack&Dolores Special and my friend had a slice of the Milano Special. Both were really amazing! They both tasted fresh and delicious. My slice had everything i was craving that day... I was surprised when i saw it on the menu! Pesto + Feta :D The pesto was spiraled on my slice. Cute!

I most def. will be coming back to this place and i recommend coming here to everyone! Great neighborhood and a great place to enjoy a pizza casually.

This is my favorite pizza place for a pleasant weeknight outing. It's a quiet, simple, inexpensive, friendly dining establishment. The pizza is rather traditional. Tasty. Straightforward.

I've never had a problem getting a table immediately.

And the waitstaff is attentive and friendly.

Such a pleasure to visit after a stressful workday.

I don't give this place a 5 because they have the best pizza or it is the best place to hang out.  I give it a 5 because they have the cheapest drink specials in town (5 dollar pitchers and 2 dollar pints depending on the night) and they can always accommodate for a big group!!!!!!!!  Not to say there food is bad, I actually enjoy my dining experiences.  It is a lot a great place to go with a lot of friends because they have the extra room in the back.  The service is great too.  You are always welcome here.

NOT GOOD!  We ordered a late night pizza and went to pick it up.  The veggie pizza we ordered was soggy and all wrong.  I considered using a spoon at one point.  I won't ever be back.

Use less cheese and make sure your pizza is fully cooked before removing from oven.

I don't get why there seem to be so many recent bad reviews? I really love this place. I often get pizzas from here either delivered, dine in, or a single slice to eat waiting for the train. I have not had one bad pizza! My favorite is sausage, bell peppers, and onion. It is always amazing and I think their sausage is some of the best I've had in this city. I mean they will make you your very own fresh slice baked to order and everything!! SOoooooooooooooo Delicious!

Can I just talk about their lasagna for a minute?  Oh Milano lasagna.......... oh so good and cheesalicious and just wow. The lasagna is to die for! One order was enough to feed me THREE times it was so big! It was so fresh and all the ingredients were perfect together. I have had it with meat and without meat and both are amazing in their own way.

I have always had good service here too when I sit down at the tables. I will say that the pizza makers often sub in as the front counter guys and may I just boldly guess that most pizza makers, and pizza delivery guys, may very well be some of the biggest stoners out there! So expect pizza dudes to be a little flaky in the customer service and fast action areas ( i mean they are pizza dudes!!!!) and you will not be so disappointed. Plus good food often takes time. So be patient little ones and good things will come!

I actually came here on accident, after finding that the restaurant that I wanted to go to was closed today.  My family and I walked by Milano and was stopped by the amazing smell.  Good choice in having the ovens near the door!

As we walked in, we were greeted by a smiley pizza chef and a waitress.  The walls are decorated with tons of pictures of people, places, and things and there are a few tables.  We ordered two large pizzas - one combo and one with pesto, and both were great!  I really liked the crust.  It might be a bit tough for some people, but I thought it was amazing.

Left full, satisfied, and had tons of pizza left for lunch the next day.  The waitress was also amazing.  If it wasn't so far away from home and had a better parking situation, then I'd definitely come here more often.

P.S. The restaurant is cash only, so remember to bring some cash!

I have not only had pizza from across the bay, I have had it from across the state, and in NY and Chicago respectively. I still say this is the best pizza in the bay area that I have had and would rank it in my top 3 all-time. I LOVE this place. I grew up on 10th avenue, and my parents used to walk with my brothers and I here at least once a month and on birthdays. It was the neighborhood spot. The crust to this day has not changed. Soft, spongy, and full of air pockets. Great big helpings of whatever toppings you want, and they are all fresh and delicious. These guys treat you like family here, probably because it is and always has been a family run restaurant. This is one of the few places left in the Sunset that hasn't been changed to something corporate or a hipster hangout. It definitely has history to it and you will not be disappointed!

I got the munchies, so I just stopped by for a quick slice.

While I was waiting, I wondered what was taking so long.  Then I realized that Milano's is not your typical pizzeria where they just heat up your slice that was previously made that day. Milano's makes your slice or pie as you order! AMAZING!  I had no idea you could just make a single slice of pizza.

I ordered the sausage pizza slice and everything about it was very satisfying.  Milano's seems like a chill place to hang out on Thursday nights for their $5 pitchers!

Milano's has the best pizza in San Francisco!  If you like a general combination pizza, then get the Milano's Special. It has lots of meat and plenty of vegetables.

I can't vouch for their Italian food, but I've sat down here before and it feels and smells like your standard pizza joint. Nothing to write home about, but the pizza will make a New Yorker feel like they're home.

BF and I wanted something that would be quick since we wanted to get back to his apartment to catch the newest episode of Bones. We had dropped by to get a Milano small pizza and it was really good. This place was recommended to us by his parents who lived here 30 years ago.

It only took about 10 minutes for them to get us our pizza and we made it back in time for the show.

Each of us had half the pizza and we were stuffed. It was so good. Pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers and mushrooms all made a great combination. I even enjoyed the mushrooms (shocking, I know).

Definitely will be back to have more pizza and maybe try some sandwiches!

Craving something caloric today.  Boy did they deliver!  Been to most of the Italian places in the Inner Sunset and I live right next to the most frequented one.  Milano is about halfway up 9th across from Soi Gow.  With the new sign up, it's hard to miss.

Came her for something simple a medium pepperoni pizza and some garlic bread.  I have tried both the cheesy bread and pesto cheese bread.  My favorite is the regular garlic bread.  About the pizza, the secret is their dough it's amazing.  Apparently the dough is so popular they sell it on it's own so you can make your own Milano pizza at home.

The people at the front helping you are pretty cool.  They usually will say it takes 30 minutes or so but get their in 15 because they usually overshoot the timing.  All in all, I'd say this is the best place for pizza in the area.

Dude... Milano Pizza is the S@#*^@^!
They are open late, have incredibly delicious pizza, pasta, and RIDONKULOUS garlic bread. And they're very reasonably priced (under $5 for a slice with 3 toppings). Plus, the single pizza slices are huge (1/4 of a pizza).  Whenever I'm in the city and craving pizza it's not even a question as to where to go.

damn this place used to be better....in recent memory too.  I had been there a couple of years ago with my high school buddies having a little adventure in the city and we came here because it's near UCSF where my friend was studying.  The pizza, wings, and beer were becoming of a good pizza joint.

So based on my fond memories, I was back for the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park and we ordered a takeout pizza from here and it just wasn't the same.  I ordered a sausage and mushroom but it had some issues and I don't blame it on being a little tipsy.  The crust was a little undercooked and the sausage was kinda like ground beef... it just didn't live up the quality that I had remembered.  I'll give some other joints in the neighborhood a try the next time I'm back through that area.

The SLF and I cruised in here for lunch after a few hours at the at the CA Academy of Sciences.   This place is a quick walk from there and well worth the trip.

We weren't feeling our usual meat stacked pizza and decided to go with a Pesto number that really hit the spot.  I think we were the only one's in there at the time, but the guy running the show probably treats everyone special even when its crowded.

I will certainly be stopping by here again... I think craigslist is down the block and a sweet bar is next door, both of which I would have hit up if I had my wits about me.

Oh well, there's always next time... The important thing is that if you are looking for a tasty pizza, this is a place to find one.

Tell them Jeff sent you... they'll probably look at you weird and ask "who the hell is Jeff?"

This is a place to go with your family or friends.  Going to this place means you are from San Francisco or you are on your way to becoming a local.

    The food:

You can taste the ingredients in this pizza.  The dough has that homemade quality that you don't get anywhere else and I think the sausage is homeade as well.  Back in the day they used to put a little more sauce on their pizza and I liked it more, so now (when I order a slice) I ask them to throw a little bit on top.  Their sauce is good.

Now there are places in SF that have twists on pizza.  There's a spot on 16th and mission that New Yorkers that dare to eat pizza in SF swear tastes like NY pizza and there are places like Little Star pizza which has good Chicago style pizza.  If I had a type of Pizza that I would like to label as SF pizza, Milano's would be the spot, Pasquale's coming in second.  (Yes Seniore's is awesome and inexpensive, but the quality isn't that good--let's be honest).       Milano's doesn't do anything fancy, it's just good basic pizza.  The dough is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

    The mood:
Milano's is old school.  It slows down the present and transports you into the past 30 years of regular people history.  Check it out and you'll see what I mean.

The last and final thing that makes Milano's awesome is the old italian (I think he's the owner).  He is nice, friendly, and welcoming and his accent legitimizes the place.

Side note: They do have good beer specials.  I don't go here after work, but I don't know why I not.

Yes, I am calling them right now to order a large pizza with sausage & mushroom with a little extra sauce.--I'm not joking.

    Maybe I'll get peperoni--this sucks.

After writing this--they ended up not delivering to my neighbor hood--had to settle for Pasquale's.

You broke my heart Milano's.  It just won't be the same tonight.

This review may be highly skewed, b/c:
    1) I was heavily liquored up from NightLife.
    2) I was about ready to gnaw off my own arm...just a touch hungry.
        Also see 1).
    3) Wait....what?!?

First of all, if you can resist this place while walking within 2 blocks, you are not human.  Totally ridiculous good smells beaming you up into the Pizza Spaceship, garlicky cheesiness and all.  And then once you're inside, those red checkered tablecloths, the draft beer, even more delicious smells, and smiley server are just the clincher.  Order off the pre-set specials or freestyle it w/your own creation.  Large was enough to feed 3 hungry dudes + Yours Truly, and for $26+/-, that's a friggin good bargain.  Super fresh, hot, awesome gooey cheese:tasty topping ratio...COMPLETELY PERFECT.  And it wasn't even thin crust, so that's saying something major in my Neapolitan-obsessed book.

Still makes me drool now....you think I'm kidding.

    Best pizza in my area.

If I had my choice, I would order pizza from Escape from New York on Haight, but they don't deliver to the Outer Richmond (better known as "the worst area if you want a good pizza"). I was getting sick of Nizarios (barf) and Pizza Joint (double barf). So glad I found Milano Pizzeria. I'll be ordering here from now on when I crave a decent pizza.

I guess i found my pizza place in the 'hood.

I stopped by recently with a couple friends before going off to Blackthorn to be the boozehounds that we are. We were hungry and it was about 8, so we needed to eat and pizza was the thing to hit the spot.

Milano has HUGE slices. I'm used to my by-the-slice pizza being just small enough to require buying two slices, but these guys had HUGE ones and i was quite happy. I thought the prices were the "San Francisco premium", but no, it was because they are HUGE.

The guy told us it would be about 10 minutes for them to get our pizzas, and that was about right. What seems to happen is they toast your pizza with your toppings and the crust just becomes a delicious and perfect crust that is stiff enough to hold by the edge alone without it flopping over at all, yet still light and crisp enough as to not tire your jaw from chewing or crack a tooth from the crunchy goodness. On top of that, the pizzas hardly had any grease. Bonus points, for sure.

I'm certain i'll be back...especially for happy hour.

Went here one late night, they were closed but the door was unlocked so they accomodated my friends and I.

Ordered a pepp pizza and it was pretty delicious!

Crispy bottom, got to love it!

    Cheesy and full of meat!

1 am drunk pizza is the best kind of pizza. They make it right then and there. Super cheesy, super greasy, super perfect. Pretty sure they were closed when I got there but I weaseled my way in for a slice. Saved my life.
