My friends and I frequent Miksa every week for dinner and drinks. It has a laid back feel, and prices that can have us coming back 1, 2, 3 times a week. With a large selection of share plates, we typically order a bunch and share them amongst us over beers and cocktails. Table favourites include the hummus and naan bread, tempura asparagus, fried goat cheese balls, panko prawns, lettuce wraps (my all time fav!), and miso black cod. All of which are very good, and quite a good size for sharing.
On other visits, when I've enjoyed entire meals, I enjoy ordering the pork steak, which is huge! I typically end up taking half of it home for lunch the next day. And the schnitzel - I am quite biased, coming from an Eastern European family, that makes this religiously, but they do a good job of it! -

Ok, so after some deliberating with our serious lack of choices on Bowen this weekend (pub or italian or this place) we chose this place for our dinner retreat on Saturday night. I guess they weren't expecting the rush because they really only had about 2 or 3 servers working the inside plus two level patio of the restaurant. They were out of the first few things we really wanted to order so we settled on our 3rd/4th choices. Delicious calamari and a "mouth-watering" chicken and rib plate (I don't eat either) that the wife seemed to LOVE. Fries were really yum too. The fact that the ketchup and other things we asked for to complete the meal never came, I'll have to give the 3 stars. The server was very personable and cool and the food was good tho. Above average prices maybe, but I'm sure right on target for the right-by-the-ferry traffic type of place. Very cute but lacking in things.
Oh, and ran into our community manager during the dinner... ohhhh heyyyyy Robin! -

A little restaurant in the heart of Bowen Island. It's a modern mix with remnants of a diner. Beautiful white orchids unify the decor, and a wide open bar with wood accents warms the whole atmosphere.
The lunch menu is short, but with many delicious sounding items. Serving salads and sandwiches, this is a great place to visit.
I got a Tuna Burger, and I have to say that it was probably the best tuna burger I've had. Seared Tuna, with a thin dressing of wasabi mayo, pickled ginger, lettuce and tomato. What stood out in this burger was the freshness of the tuna steak, and the wasabi mayo and pickled ginger gave it just enough kick to make this absolutely irresistible. I opted for their salad on the side- and it was a large heaping portion of chopped greens, carrots, cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes, all tossed in a light balsamic dresssing.
It was just what I needed.Listed in: ROTDs!

I've only been here once, but this is by far the best Tuna burger I have ever had! I came on the recommendations of a friend, and it was fantastic. The place has more so a cafe/bar feel to it, and it has a full bar on one side of the restaurant. The service was great, I believe he was the bartender and server at the time, very chatty fellow. I prefer this place to the other bars on Bowen island now, mainly for the great food they have, and much better service compared to the other places around there.
If you ever get a chance to go over to Bowen island, be sure to check this place out for a beer and a burger. Others in the group had some of the sandwiches which looked full and delicious as well.Listed in: Best Burger's in Vancouver!

Outstanding says it all,....we made a fabulous dinner out of appetizers only, and found them to be some of the best I've had. This is a must stop on your next visit to Bowen. Small, yet quaint..with great friendly service.

I came here with my wife, her two brothers and sister in law. We were spending the day hiking on Bowen Island and it was a great way to end the day.
We were originally going to eat at Tuscany but hadn't made a reservation so we were quite disappointed. We ended up at Mik'sa and we had a great time.
Most of the tables were meant to sit 4 people but for our party of five, they accommodated us without batting an eye. We didn't have reservations but I would recommend getting them because when we arrived, all the tables were being used. It just so happened that one table was finishing up. We only ended up waiting about 10 minutes for the table.
I had the chipotle cream mussels and a side of fries. My wife and sister-in-law had the spaghetti and my two brother-in-laws had the steak.
First of all the portions are sizeable for a restaurant of this price point. There was a lot of food. I'm pretty sure that the others at the table loved their meals.
My mussels were fabulous. There were two big chipotle peppers in the broth so you know that it's just a real authentic flavour you're getting. Spicy but so full of flavour. Just awesome.
The staff were very nice and we would probably be back. Thumbs up! -

This is my parents favorite place on Bowen Island, and now i know why. The tastes and quality are felt in every single bite of food here. I can't even tell you what my favorite dish is anymore because we ordered tapas of Roasted Garlic and Cumin Hummus with Balsalmic Syrup and Pita Bread, Hon's Vegetarian Potstickers with Peanut Chili Oil, and Housemade Perogies stuffed with Potatoes and Onions served with Lemon Creme Fraiche... and yes it all tasted as amazing as it sounds.
I have come here once before and had the Seared Tuna burger, and it is probably one of the best i have ever had. My brother ordered a Salmon Entree and it was melt in your mouth delicousness.
The house wines are really good as well.
Do not pass up this gem if you decide to visit Bowen Island. It's right on the main drag right off the ferry 1/2 way up the hill.Listed in: Get out of Town - Bowen Island…
