Review from Thomas Z.
This place serves amazing, old-fashioned donuts at retro prices..
I mean that these are really fried in a vat of oil, not on a conveyor belt. You can still see a thin belt of golden yellow deliciousness sandwiched between the golden brown layers that sunk into the fat. mmmm...fattt....
Boston Creme are 11/10. Glazed are 12/10. Really the best I've had anywhere. Crawlers are 10/10. They're a tad heavy but are delicate & a tad reminiscent of coffee cake. Jelly donuts are the best you can get anymore, after Leskes unexpectedly closed with next to no warning this past summer.
The chocolate frosted are actually a little bit blah. I'd almost always prefer them to glazed but here it's the opposite; 9/10
Dunkin is mass produced crap, maybe 5/0. at best, lower for munchkins. Tim Hortons is a 6 or 7 at best.
The only complaint is that the prices are super unlucky, even if they do blow Dunkin out of the water - especially when quality is taken into consideration as well... A baker's dozen is $6.
The location is perfect for the small army of domestic Law Enforcement & Federal Agencies conducting surveillance on the Bay Ridge Islamic Center across the street. At the Arab American Comedy Festival a while back, a girl from my my neighborhood had a joke that went 'my neighborhods's so Arab that the bagboys at the grocery store are FBI Agents!' - but really .1 Previous Review: Show all »

Warning: If you don't like old fashioned food or prices and prefer mass produced items with barely any taste then don't come here. But if you have actual taste buds and like an occasional donut, then Mike's Donuts is the place for you. Their donuts don't taste like airy tasteless blobs and are cheaper than donuts from chains. What's not to like?
Oh, get their cinnamon crumb donut!! They sell out quick so be sure to get there fast, but that is what they are really known for. (btw the cinnamon crumb is a cake donut).
The only thing I don't like about the place is the weirdos that tend to show up here. If you're a lady, this may not be the best place to come and sit alone. But hey, you can always accidentally spill scalding hot coffee on a man's crotch in self-defense, right? -

A dozen homemade donuts for six dollars - could that be right? Old school, classic, perfect with coffee donuts? Yes, this is the place.
Got five donuts for three dollars - thought I was paying 1997 prices. Chose whole wheat, jelly, plain, white frosted and glazed. Ate the last three and all were delicious. Saving the other two for tomorrow's breakfast.
By the time I got there - 3:15 p.m. - many varieties had sold out, so will have to come earlier next time. Saw a selection of other baked goods - bagels, etc. All looked appetizing but I was in the mood for donuts.
The donuts are fair-sized - not too big, not too small. Excellent value, considering the cost.
Love, love, love this one.Listed in: Brooklyn Queens Desserts

Review from Kenny L.
This place is awesome - quick, cheap, and a variety of breakfast bites.
Note, during rushes, the space isn't very large for a line of people, but do your best to get the order in and you're set.
For morning rushes, there's at least 2 guys that have their inner Flash brought out - moving to and fro without a break or halt, everything is always flowing from setting up the bagel, to grabbing a donut, creating the coffee, then bagging everything with your change ready.
Always can count on Mikes for some lightly-toasted bagels with jelly and some apple triangular pies for the sweet craving.
Sure the prices have increased a bit, but where hasn't really? The service is still good and the food is as expected for a quick bite.
-In a rush for breakfast? Spare 3 minutes upon order and you're out. Use the next two to think about and process what just flashed before your eyes. -

All that you've read about Mike's Donuts prior to this review is spot on. Fresh baked donuts from a family owned and run shop in the heart of Bay Ridge. No complaints to be had. The service was solid, quick and friendly. The prices were incredible especially considering the abundance of Dunkin Donuts within a mile radius of Mike's. I don't think that I'll ever need to eat another donut from DD again. Mike definitely puts that chain to shame.

Best donuts you're likely to find in this city and that's not shabby. So fresh. So good. Just what a donut is supposed to be. There's a DD up the block but why bother? Take a (baker's) dozen to work and you'll be the office MVP in no time. Talk about job security. Nothing quite turns a frown - with a case of the morning grumps - upside down faster than Mike's Donuts.
0 Calorie Tip: Walk down Bay Ridge Avenue in the evening hours (7 - 9 pm) for an odor of deliciousness that permeates the air. It's a sweet reminder of what's to come in the morning. -

Very old school donut shop, nothing fancy, but great homemade donuts! I like the coconut in particular.
The bathroom, however...try to stay away. It's not very clean! -
Review from Dan T.
Multiples of 2 are the deal here. Ordered up from the nice fellow (perhaps the proprietor), relishing in the old-agey feel of the place and forking over the buck25 for 1 coconut and 1 cinnamon, 2 tasty donuts that exuded no artificiality and a natural mouthfeel. Dangerous indeed.

Since moving to Brooklyn from Boston, I've been craving a good donut. Canvassing my neighborhood turned up nothing, so, I decided to make the long trek out to Bay Ridge to sample Mike's donuts. Needless to say, the donuts were worth the trip.
The real winner here is the crumb donut - full of crumbly sugar goodness, this donut is a real delight. The chocolate donut was also tasty, but when I ordered some donuts to-go, I went all in on the crumb.
Again, if you love a good donut, head on out to Mike's! -

Hmmm,
I am not sure if these donuts are good or if Brooklyn is really a donut real zone. Regardless Mikes Donut are really one of the few places that really make donuts (Dunkin is mass produce crap)
Recommend getting a dozen - for 4.50 its a bargin -
***also a great place to pick up a day worker, 40-50 hispanic men loiter out front for work in the morning hours. -

This is a great little donut shop. The donuts here are fresh and made on a daily basis. It's much better than the Dunkin across the street. And the service is better too.

These donuts are really good. If you can get them when they're hot, they're even better. And maybe they taste best because they're pretty damn inexpensive. They're a far superior option to the Dunkin Donuts that is almost right across the street. This is the perfect spot for a weekend morning treat--if my boyfriend would stop by here in the morning before I woke up, I would take a donut as an engagement ring and marry him on the spot.

Mike's Donuts has great donuts, bagels, and drinks. The donuts taste great when they come right out of the oven. The apple turnovers are just scrumptious with the hot filling. The donuts are made fresh everyday.Be sure to get there early because sometimes certain varieties sell out. Sometimes the place is a bit crowded.

At one point, it was a diner but became a coffee shop. A good place to get donuts, bialys, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea and even instant ramen noodles. It gets crowded and busy at times but it's a good place to get stuff. There are pictures of celebrities on the wall like Rachel Ray. No wireless internet access.
