Update on his address -- he's now on Oxford St., still in the Kensington Market area. http://www.mikethebike...

Bikes are Mike's passion!
I've gone to Mike now and then over the past 5-8 years (I don't tune my bikes up twice a year)...
Consistently good service, excellent knowledge and care about bikes.
My gears and chains came back better moisturized than how he received it. I completely trust his service and have recommended this business to friends and others.
Fairly fast service, and reasonable prices. Definitely, I will keep trying to go there (despite moving around in Toronto).
Consider getting your bike tuned-up there, or buying a good used bike there (which would come with at least 2 free tune-ups, I think). -

SUPER nice guy.
I am not a bike person. I basically know how to ride a bike...and that's it.
I took my old bike (bought in the 80s for my sister, last tuned in the 90s for me). It's been sitting in my parents garage for at least 10 years...but Mike didn't talk down to me - he walked me through each step of what he wanted to do with my bike, and gave me a really realistic price estimate, promising to call if the price went over his estimate due to not having recycled parts and having to use new parts.
What a cool guy.
It's a small shop, and Mike is basically the main sales guy (although there are a few other dudes doing stuff in there), so you might have to wait around. But it's pretty worth it, in my opinion. My only gripe is the long wait (5 days, due to the intense workup needed on my bike lol and one guy having a broken arm), but I had heard such good things about him I felt like it was worth the wait.
He has a cool iPhone app that syncs to the shop's computer, warns them when it's getting close to my pick up date, and has details of what needs to be done on my bike. Pretty neat.
I'll give it that last star after I pick up my bike, assuming he pulls through and serves up a SWEET RIDE. -

Great customer service and really quick turn around time was my experience. I came in the same day and came out with a bike that I love riding!
It was awesome to come out of there with pretty much a custom bike!
Highly recommend . Reasonable prices! -

Really great group of people that actually care about their customers and the bikes they sell/fix.
It's a great place to get your bike fixed up and they won't charge you an arm and a leg. Also great place to get used parts if you don't want to replace a broken part with a brand new one that costs more than your whole bike altogether.
He will also take trade ins, but won't buy bikes, so you know you're not buying a stolen bike if you buy one of their refurbished used bikes. -

Mike and the mechanics who work for him really do a good job of fixing up your bike. I have gone to Mike for just over a year-and-a-half now. He is often extremely busy (which contributes to his reputation for being a bit disorganized).
For example, whenever I am dealing with him, I can be pretty sure that at least two or three other customers will show up at the same time. Sometimes when he is really busy two or three bicycle customers will be trying to talk to him at once. If it's like that I generally bike away and try to come back some other time.
The prices are very reasonable and he has a lot of used parts in the store, which he will try to use before charging you for a new part.
Like any other good bike place there is often a 2-3 day wait during busy season for repairs.
