I'd checked these guys out shortly after they'd opened. I wasn't in the market for full-on furniture at that point in time, but I definitely wished I was. Their stock is incredibly focused, of great quality and fairly priced. I managed to score a very slick set of kitchen canisters at that point in time, and vowed to return.
Luckily this past year I was in need of sun loungers. After checking out all the usual options and just not finding a) what I was looking for, and b) a pricepoint which was going to work for me, I decided to check out Mid-Century Modern again.
Although they didn't have any loungers in the store, I asked the owner if she could keep her eye out for some. She told me she had two in storage, and by the next day had emailed me photos of them. They're wood, in great shape, they're sexy, in short: they're perfect. Needless to say I snapped them up.
Finding gems of mid-century mod furniture can be a challenge in other places. There is often a lot of crap to sift through to just find that one "okay" piece. These guys have done the footwork for you, so just go there!
This is furniture for people who love great style, and love their home! -

As the name suggests, this new addition to New West's antique alley specializes in mid-century modern furnishings from the 50s, 60s and 70s. My dreams rendered in teak and glass and upholstery, clean lines bringing a tear to these Scandinavian eyes that have seen too much IKEA.
As at Urban Treasures next door, you'll also find wonderful tableware, serving dishes, coffee sets ('cause that's what the swingin' adults drinking after dinner, the better to stay up all night and listen to jazz) and even a few vintage appliances.
My favourite item was an expandable dining table, tiled down the center to provide a built-in potholder for hot serving dishes. Beautiful, practical designs - that's why I'm such a sucker for this mid-century modern style.
The store also keeps a mailing list, so if you want to be alerted when the store posts specific types of items that you're looking for on Craigslist, be sure to sign up. The owners have excellent eyes for design if the current stock is anything to go by.

We joined the fantastic crew on Historic Antique Alley in New Westminster in May, 2009 and have been thrilled to be on such a practical block--6 vintage furniture and housewares stores with parking right in front! A fabulous place where you're highly likely to find whatever you're looking for with loads of bargains to be had by all.
