Review from Maureen M.
My parents, husband & I decided to stay here while we were heading home from our visit in NY. This was the 3rd hotel we stayed in on our trip so I had plenty to compare.
Location: Awesome. It's not in the middle of the touristy chaos, which is great. It's within walking distance to the falls, and an okay view. It's also within walking distance to the touristy chaos.
The Hotel: It's old. It's outdated. It looks kinda shitty from the outside, and the gated parking lot is sort of a joke. All of that aside, it's clean and well-maintained. The pool & exercise room exceeded my expectations in this old hotel, that's for sure. The elevators are updated though. Clearly, the only thing updated! Please check out the photos of the theme room....outdated & bordering pornographic! haha
The room: I can't tell you the last time I was given a room key that was actually a KEY. It was very clean! I appreciated the old style furniture. The bathroom was also very clean, and had the old teal tile from the 50's/60's. It was in perfect shape though! I loved that along with the hairdryer mounted on the wall, there was also a 2-sided makeup mirror with lights next to it. No issues with hot water either.
The bed was comfortable. We had 2 doubles, which was kind of small, but just fine. They had a good selection of cable channels too. I had no issues with the wi-fi. The A/C was a little noisy, but it goes along with the age of the hotel, and nothing new to us. I've yet to experience a quiet A/C unit in a hotel room!
The restaurant: We stopped in the restaurant in the a.m. for breakfast. I opted for the buffet, again. Typical offerings with french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. They also had baked beans. That made me scratch my head. I've never seen baked beans served at breakfast. The food was okay & exactly what I would expect from a breakfast buffet. Our waiter was awesome. He was engaging, attentive, and really funny! He said he'd been working there for 16 years.
Check out was fast and easy. Overall, we really enjoyed our brief, overnight stay. The husband and I definitely want to go back to the Falls & spend more time there. We will definitely stay at Michael's Inn! -

What can I say about this place that hasnt already been said? Yes, this place is crazy outdated and needs major renovation work. And yes, it does have big metal keys- not even joking about that!
Yes, it over looks the remains of the falls- it offers "river view" rooms and they are just as their name suggests: they overlook the river left of the rainbow bridge. The hotel location is fairly remote from the hoopla of Clifton hills although on a nice summer day you could easily walk over there and enjoy it.
The in room tv is a tube tv and even though free cable is a feature only about 30 channels actually work. The pool on the second floor is perhaps the best feature this place has.
The website makes this place look wonderful and chic- upon arrival I felt betrayed and deceived. To call this place a TWO star inn is a stretch so calling it a THREE STAR HOTEL is blasphemy. Our room floors were not fully vacuumed- EVER! That much lent and dust in corners and around furniture doesn't appear overnight. Our mirrors were filthy and the tub had mold all over the tiles and a piece if the tub that was patched up had begun falling off and cracking apart. It looked so bad I refused to bathe my baby in there. You get one bar of soup and that's it. The hair dryer is attached to the wall so you know you're gonna get a great style from that heat.
Our room has a draft perhaps because our balcony sliding door is broken.
The decor is very outdated and nothing really goes with each other almost like the updates were done small and sporadic - like let's cover theses stains with this wall paper trim, let's change the carpet that ripped in this one corner...etc. overall: over priced, dirty, and outdated. I'm kicking myself for not staying at the ramada inn (it was cheaper) and we just drove past it- it actually looked like a HOTEL.
Oh well, now we know!
P.S. I will be quick, their free wireless keeps cutting in and out -

Don't get me wrong - this isn't RIGHT near the falls, but you can see them from some rooms. I thought it was a GREAT LOCATION for the price...all the other hotels were much more money! It is a bit outdated, but we didn't spend too much time in our room. The breakfasts were acceptable and it was a quick walk to the falls, the american border, and to all of Niagara, ON. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I do like to stay in luxury, but I also understand the value of a clean, neat economical find! Spend your money on the trip, not the hotel!

Review from Reesa T.
So as hotels go...
1) We got a pretty good deal on this one! I didn't book it, but I know my other half was a savvy shopper. So that is a plus.
2) Location! It was great to be just... what... 2 block from "downtown" where everything is and its all close by and easy to access. We could just go out the door it seems, stroll under a bridge and RIGHT THERE! Giant waterfalls and pretty.... Essentially it gets a bonus star for being CLOSE. Total bonus.
3).Did I mention the savvy shopper? Free parking (for guests) thats awesome.
4) We forgot to pack toothpaste (again... we did that like a month earlier when we went camping too...) and figured...hotels do complementary shaving kits, toothpaste and brushes... we'll be fine. WRONG! Thankfully it was cheaper down the road a ways than in the hotel lobby.
5) Media center. Well... we also forgot to print some tickets.... so we bought some time at their media center to print it. Should have been easy, right... their printer was being spastic which was annoying. The man at the desk helped us and then gave us a free card for more internet time. (which we still have since we were there for the falls not the internet, so if interested I might sell it... cheap.)
6.) Decor. ...."decor"! LOL. So the place looked like my grandmother did the decorating... meh. Whatever
7.) I have to add- when we turned the TV on it was changed already to porn. O.O ALARMING!
8.) The beds. Small. I sleep on a double. That... was NOT a double. It was like a single-and-then-some-but-not-enough.
9.) Service- generally good experience.
10.) Clean enough... not sparkling but nothing gross to be found, no bugs or previous guests hair in the tub or anything...
Overall, 3 stars! If you're headed to Niagara, want to stay close to the falls and not pay and arm, leg and left nipple... its a fine place to stay. Go for it.... just if you're there with children- make sure you turn on the TV for the first time with them in the other room! ;) -
Review from Denise L.
Location: great, just a block or 2 from the sights
Price: excellent compared to the other hotels. We ended up getting a room with 2 double beds vs a king because it was cheaper.
View: nice. You could see the Americas falls while sipping coffee from one tiny corner.
Decor: cheesy and old
The room: the ac didn't work very well.
Overall we were glad to be there just one night, and if your on a budget the cost plus free parking is hard to beat in that area. -
Review from Ayrton B.
We stayed at Michael's for two nights in early August. They had the best price for a supposed falls-view room. From our second floor terrace, you could just barely see the falls, if you leaned slightly over the balcony's railing. To say this place is dated would be an under-statement... this place is just plain old. Yes, the room keys are actual metal keys. The staff was friendly.
While somewhat clean, I would not say the room was sparkling. The bathroom is dated and cramped and needed some repairs. The biggest downfall to the room had to be the air conditioner... while it did make the room cool to cold (thankfully) it was very-very loud. Loud as in loud mechanical noises that were very disruptive of sleep.
The indoor pool area was actually kind of nice. There was a hot tub with water temperature somewhere between scalding and three-minute-egg territory and a dry sauna that was usable. There's a kiddie pool - my kids enjoyed it.
Parking was easy enough, but when returning late, you must park in the free over-flow lot.
We didn't try the restaurant.
On the positive side, you're close to the 'People Mover' and you can get to all the attractions easily. Late at night when the traffic dies down, you can hear the falls from your balcony.
If you stay here just realize that you'll be constantly reminded that you tried to be cheap, and you got a break on price, but you have to put up with compromises. -
Review from Carrie Q.
This place is a very old looking hotel from the inside out. Its just a dumpy hotel but I have to say it is cheap.
Location: Great location, right down near the bridge and very close to the American Falls.
View: They advertise a view of the falls, well you get kind of a view, but to get the view, you need to look over the balcony to get kind of an ok view of the American Falls.
The Hotel: It looked like the hotel had not been updated since the 70's! It was so ugly! The TV was old and did not work well. The hotel just looked kind of dirty and was unpleasant to be in.
Just avoid this place, it feels dirty and needs an update. Oh, I almost forgot, the wi-fi didn't work!!!! No signal whatsoever from my phone! Ugh, false advertisers.
