Hard to give this place 4 stars because I don't want my friends to see...
The decor is exactly what you'd expect: Grandpa's rec room. Framed pictures of John Candy, Martin Short, and William Shatner on the wall. Terrible plaid carpeting.
But, the service was great and the smoked meat sandwich on rye was excellent. Mine came with a well-prepared salad. My son had kettle chips - homemade and crispy - with a side of some kind of dip.
It's in an area that has few other options for lunch (Lone Star, Broadway, the dubious pub on Heron.) MIC definitely leads the field.
I do miss the Greek Souvlaki place that used to be in the same location.
Every woman, aged 2 to 200, was greeted with "Hello Beautiful" by the ebullient owner. Miss him. -

An exciting venture to a new to me restaurant quickly turned into a wish for anything but.
My girlfriend and I went for lunch-at 12:20 today, so we knew a wait was possible, however when we were passed by -by 4 employees before being acknowledged, at the wait to be seated sign, we should have turned and left.
Against our better judgement, we decided to give it a chance. Once seated, it took 10 minutes to get menus and drink orders in. We get our drinks and then waited for 25 minutes before our order was taken, to which our waitress replied-haven't I taken your order yet?
We said no and received a healthy "Je&!s C&#*st"-no word of a lie, I kid you not. So it is now 12:55-we both order the MIC grilled chicken salad from the express menu-and there was nothing expressly special about it-and there should have been-it took 35 minutes to arrive, at which point we are of the few remaining -as it is 1:30 by the time the mediocre salad with dressing frozen in a clump in a bowl on the side, arrived.
My overall impression: Lack luster service, dismal food, and not worth any wait. We won't be back. -

MIC could easily be mistaken for a Canadian modern history museum. It has a cozy pub vibe with Canadian kitsch decor (but not in a bad way). It is really quite something and worth a visit just to check it out.
Now, to the food. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. On this visit we stuck to the basics (burgers, poutine and a smoked meat sandwich) and everything was well prepared and tasty. The service is good. Some restaurants won't accommodate my request for "half fries, half salad" with my sandwich but MIC did and I was impressed.
If you're looking for good quality pub food in a unique and comfortable atmosphere, this is your place. -

M.I.C. is a very cool and unique Canadian restaurant. It has opened in the space of the former Greek Souvlaki House at Prince of Wales and Baseline/Heron Road. This place is a very welcome "different" from the usual fare. It sources its menu from Canada and serves "Canadian" food. The decor is Canadian and the walls are covered with local historical photos, Canadian celebrities and heroes--from politicians, artists, actors and sports stars. The menu is upscale family. The inside of the place has been divided into various rooms and cabins to create an intimate environment. There is a fancy Whiskey bar/pub as well--though I haven't spent time on that side as I'm usually there with my kids (8 & 11). IT has just opened for breakfast on the weekends starting at 8 a.m.. This place is a very nice and different experience, well worth going to with family and friends.
