Consistent high quality fish, service and presentation. Our go to place. Real value as the portions on everything from sashimi/sushi to rolls to dinners/apps are very generous. Highly recommend

We haven't been to this location (Richmond Hill) in years, last couple of times we went to the Markham location on Woodbine.
Nothing has changed, the place looks exactly the same.
We ordered the charashi dinner which comes with soup and salad, beef udon which comes with a salad and the udon and tempura combo which comes with salad, tempura (veggies and shrimp) and sushi.
Udon had way tooo many onions in it and flavour was slightly lacking but the tempura was amazing and the fish was really fresh.
Based on what I got I thought the udon sets were a good deal. There are several to choose from.
Quality was good and dining environment was pleasant as was the service.
I actually think the Richmond Hill location is much better. It's smaller and older but the service and food is better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 19, 2023
The food was okay yet pricey.
Eel had bones
Orangeville roll is one of the better rolls
Yaki udon didn't have any wok hei
Tempura shrimp was big however a bit more dense and crunchy batter.
What's good is that they have a lot of booths for seating so it's great for a little more privacy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 18, 2023
Absolutely iconic. This is a staple sushi spot in Richmond Hill. The restaurant itself is a little bit tight, but the food is great.
Please do yourself a flavour and get the Orangeville Roll-- ITS HUGE and packed with all types of fish and flavourHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 30, 2022
NO LONGER CUSTOMER ORIENTED?
I feel sad when I write this review because I've been their customer for 10+ years, and they were one of my first choice in food ordering for house gatherings. They offer good quality sushi at a reasonable price (certainly one of the best "bang for the buck" restaurant in the neighborhood).
I came across the following situation recently which stopped me from visiting them again. Below is a shortened version of the conversation. I'll leave it to the readers' judgement, especially those who need some customizations for allergy or other reasons.
Me: I'd like to order sushi platter for takeout. One of us has mild allergy to shrimp, thus could you please put the pieces with shrimp and tempura in a separate container?
Them: No, we can't do that.
Me: Hmm... then can you substitute shrimp with any other seafood?
Them: No, we can't do that.
I didn't order food from them on that day as you'd imagine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 24, 2021
The service was great and the tables were very separated. We felt safe in our booth while dinning. The sushi was also really fresh and large portions. They also gave us miso soup on the house.
Two of us ordered a set, and two rolls. We were both super full and satisfied with our order. Our total came to around $85 after tax and tips.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Angela M.Old Toronto, Toronto, ON02Dec 3, 2023

Location in Richmond Hill more welcomingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 8, 2022
Came here for lunch one day since it's been a while - food and service were both amazing. The sashimi is super thick and fresh, and the rolls are pretty big as well. All were absolutely delicious. I will say though - as with everything else, the prices have skyrocketed, but at least we're paying for quality sushi.
We'll definitely be coming back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 190311372Jan 13, 2022Updated review
Mi Ne has always been a spot that I trust to go for good sushi. Their prices have been relatively steady and hasnt changed much, and their menu is quite similar to what it was since day one, with addition of new items as well. Place are run by koreans, but the quality of the fish is quite fresh. The only complaint I have is for their oysters that always seem to have that 'sea' taste which is unpleasant. Otherwise, your other fish are at good temperature, good size and sliced well, seasoned nicely, and overall pleasant to eat.
My favourite roll is by far the orangeville roll, where you get a bit of spiciness from their sauce. The torched scallop is very lovely and adds umami to the overall experience. Their rolls are smaller in size than what they were originally, but I think its still relatively big compared to some other restaurants, if that's what you look for. Their rolls have the perfect filling to rice ratio (ie. not a lot of rice, just a nice thin layer), the seaweed is still good in consistency and not tough to chew, and the flavour pairings are nice and simple. Their dynamite rolls are quite consistent as well, with a well battered and fried tempera shrimp in every roll. Quality is definitely there.
On the most recent visit we ordered:
Mushroom Udon 4.5/5 - love the texture of the udon, nice and springy. Mushroom broth was fragrant and had a nice soy flavour, but not overly salty or sweet. Good variety of mushrooms. Comes with dumplings as well (approx 3-4) and can choose either beef or veg. The beef ones were nice with good amount of filling. Overall a very nicely composed dish. Meal comes with miso soup and side salad.
Unagi Dragon Roll 5/5 - unagi on top was well seasoned, good amount of unagi sauce that covers the roll enough but not overpowering. Good portion of avocado and shrimp tempura. Each bite was quite consistent. Comes with 9 pieces.
Salmon Sushi Pizza 5/5 - another beautifully crafted dish. Thin layer of rice base for the pizza that has been deep fried. Not overly oily and seasoned nicely with a bit of dashi taste. Sashimi on top with some tobiko, shredded cucumbers, overall very nice and refreshing. Pairs nicely with the pizza. Highly recommend trying it once! Was even crispy after takeout/ in container for 15 minutes.
Overall, cant wait to dine in again. Lovely staff too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 10, 2017Previous reviewRolls at MiNe are huge, although they used to be bigger than what it is now. Thay being said, the give the quantity and quality. My favourite is the orangeville roll with spicy scallop. The other specialty roll i would go for is the torched one, but other than those two, the others were nothing special in my opinion.
Their sashimi are served at the right temperature, and their tempura batter has a taste that sometimes remind me of mcds mcnugget batter (which i dont mind at all!).
I usually go for their set 2 dinner for two, which includes two seaweed salads, lobster and shrimp tempura, orangeville roll, sashimi and another roll (i forgot which one), teriyaki dish, mushroom soup, and dessert. Not bad for a bit over $60.
Staff has been working there for a while now, but I find their service varies, so a bit inconsistent but overall good. They also have some good lunch/ afternoon tea deals. - Kristine L.Mississauga, ON21191Sep 30, 2023
Sushi was not fresh. Period. Regretfully, we wasted money. The quality cannot be compared to the Aurora location.
