$9 + tax for AYCE lunch is a sure win when you're hungry and not carrying much in the wallet. The food here is delicious for the price, and the people here are so friendly! The place is small, but they make good use of the space. All the food there is fantastic, and I love the dessert!

    1. The naan is deliciously good. DELICIOUSLY good.
    2. The pakoras are tasty and always crispy - important to consider at a buffet
    3. I looooove palak paneer, and this was SO good.
    4. There's butter chicken for the less adventurous people. Or for people who really like butter chicken. I fall into that category.

Overall, this place is a gem. I hope it sticks for a while - I know a lot of people at my office love this place (I had a friend who went for lunch and dinner in the same day)! Now I'm craving some Indian food for lunch...

Indian cuisine is some of the most flavorful and kick your taste buds in the rear end food out there, and that's a good thing! Mezbaan definitely doesn't disappoint, their dishes were like BAM-CHICKA- WOW-WOW in my mouth!

It's a small place that has your usual Indian Fare as well as some interesting fusion dishes, which I will have to try in the future. For my first time eating this restaurant's food I went for the usual dishes to see how they stack up to other Indian restaurant's, and I can conclusively say they are deeeeeeeeeeelish!

I started off with the vegetable samosas, they were fresh, crunchy, flavorful and delicate. When I eat samosas, I always look for those that have a thin phyllo like outer pocket/ pattie. Too many times I've eaten the cheap 25 cent samosa's that have rock hard, overly fried and bubbly pockets that are not good in my mouth or my stomach for that matter. Mezbaan samosa's are great and they come with a dipping sauce that I think is made with lime, cilantro and some other ingredients I could not decipher as I ate them too fast to actually determine their makeup.  I'm drooling as I write this.

For our main we had the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Vindaloo.  The butter chicken was exceptional, it was full of flavor with all the spices and It came with a lot of sauce, which I love! More for dipping naan and smothering basmati rice in.  Honestly, I could totally forgo the actual protein in Indian food and be happily satisfied with their sauces! They are so good! I could tell that the butter chicken was authentic because you can see all the spices in it and the consistency was there, unlike fast food places that make the sauce look like yellow-orange wall paint, no consistency, just smooth uni-colored wall paint. Their butter chicken stood out from other places because I noticed that it was slightly sweeter, in a good way.

The Lamb Vindaloo was also quite good. It also had tons of curry sauce for dipping and smothering. I'm one of those people that believes every ounce of sauce must be eaten, so please do not take the dish away if all the protein and substance is gone, I'll even save the sauce for later consumption with a variety of carbs.

The only down side of both the butter chicken and lamb vindaloo is that the meat was cut into fairly small pieces, although there was still a lot of meat. I like my meat pieces to be big and substantial, seems more satisfying that way.

    Overall great food!

I didn't get a chance to review Mezbaan and I happened to remember since I am daydreaming about good Indian food.

Their dinner buffet is ridiculously well priced, friendly service and the quality of food is excellent.  $10.95 for an Indian dinner buffet... where else can I find that?

This restaurant is a small place with about 9 or 10 tables.  Close to Kingsway and Joyce.

Their naan is so fresh and the waiter brings it to your table right out of the clay oven.  I love ripping into the naan as steam escapes and then using it to soak the sauce right in.  The naan was not oily and perfectly soft on one side, but crispy on the other.

The owner mentioned to me that they had recently opened the restaurant a year or so ago.  I hope this Mezbaan continues to get more reviews and business because I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

They accommodated 35 of us (atleast)! They set up a buffet during dinner for us for $11.95 per person.  They were very friendly too. (an extra star)

The food was A-OK.  I liked the mixed veg curry and mutter paneer.  Their butter chicken was alright. Not the worst, but I prefer a bit stronger flavours and more spiciness to my BC. The pulao was pretty good too. I really liked that they had a couple of different salad options--a mixed apple and pear salad that was amazing with some jeera flavours and something else, a cucumber tomato onion salad, and a raita (yogurt salad).  I didn't quite understand why they had chow mein in their buffet... so I didn't get any of that.

Overall, it was a great experience because they were really enthusiastic to have us all and we took up the entire restaurant. They also have a lunch buffet for 7.95. And they've got granville island brew and whistler brew in bottles!

Small new restaurant with great food
The chef is experienced and has great customer interaction skills which shows he's not just a cook who knows his pots and pans.

The food is a little expensive compared to other small restaurants but it makes up for it with taste and quantity. The portions aren't giagantic but are large. There isn't too much of oil or spices. Everything is just about right. I've been there twice and both times food was great and we had a good time. They have a lunch buffet too but I've been there for dinner only and there's no buffet that time.
The pakoras and appetizers are awesome the daal lentil vege soup is great. Eggplant bhartha, malai kofta, daal makkhni etc are amazing. Don't forget to order the bread basket as it's the best method to try all the array of breads naans they have to offer. There is a selection of drinks and wines you can order as well. The lassi is very tasty also

It's a must try restaurant if you're in the area and craving for a good Indian meal a little better than most other places

The first time I went to Mezbaan was just after they opened, they were still getting their furniture sorted. :) I had dinner and found the quality of the meal to be very good but noticed that the establishment lacked any noticeable qualities to pull customers in. As I was the only guest in the place for dinner I got to chatting with the owner, who was simply lovely, and asked about his marketing efforts. He pretty much didn't have any. I was so endeared to this man for some reason (and I really did enjoy the food) so I suggested hosting a dinner for the local http://couchsurfing.org community. We discussed doing a buffet and agreed on a menu and price. I posted the dinner details on the Vancouver http://couchsurfing.org message board and, voila! Over 30 happy, hungry surfers showed up for dinner! He and his partner were so excited that they added a couple extra items to the buffet and offered everyone a complimentary after-dinner drink. Super sweet. :)

Since that group outing I went back twice more before moving away and I have been satisfied each time. I wish this little restaurant all the success in the world! And for any group looking for a place to eat, drink, be merry - and to be treated really well, find out when their slow days and hours are and plan an event with them! They will give you a good deal and will appreciate the business. It's a win-win situation and you won't regret it. :)

I know the menu says fine dining.. but it's not really? And it also says it's fusion food.. but it's not really that either. There's like 2 dishes that are "fusion". Other than that, it was decent. Came here for dinner though, not lunch. Will try the lunch special soon.

Came here with a couple of friends. We had the vegetable samosas to start, which were good. They were kind of small I think and took a long time for some reason. Friends ordered the butter chicken, another.. curry with chicken in it, the chicken biryani, and vegetable biryani. Side orders of plain naan and the bread basket which came with garlic naan, plain naan, and lechhedar parantha. All really good. Liked the butter chicken curry (just the curry sauce, I'm a vegetarian). Whatever curry with chicken it was, it had a little bit of a sweet taste to it? Also really good. Didn't like the chicken biryani so much, found it a little dry. But I loved my vegetable biryani, delicious. Medium spicy, with lots of veggies and big portion. None of us could finish our food, had to take it home. For dessert, we had the ras malai whi is an Indian cheese patty in a pistachio and almond sauce. First time we had Indian dessert, the texture is a little odd (kinda like soaked bread?) but flavour is great.

The waiter/chef was really nice, and gave us recommendations. Noticed a lot of people ordering take out. The dishes were reasonably priced (most entrees range from 10-13 dollars).

The restaurant can definitely use a better make over, the place is all ORANGE. Well I guess you can't miss it whenever you go past it. But it could use some more authentic decor besides the framed pictures.

I will definitely try the lunch special that everyone raves about. Recommended place for Indian food.
