Review from Rachel M.
My husband and I wandered in here today and were pleasently surprised. We are on our honeymoon and this was our first day in Quebec City, I have to say I've been looking forward to some fancy French food, so I was a bit skeptical when he wanted to try this place. Mexican food...in Canada?? Being a resident of Southern California now and spending most of my life in Texas I'd have to say I'm a seasoned Mexican food connoisseur, my tastes ranging from Tex-mex, to baja, to interior style. I ordered a vegetable burrito which was stuffed to the max with delicious sautéd veggies, beans, and some magical salsa that added just enough heat and flavor. I also made the fortunate choice of ordering a side of guacamole that the chef/owner whipped up fresh for me, it was a great addition. My husband had the beef quesadilla which he is still talking about now, haha. He is already thinking about what he wants to order next time (we definitely want to eat here at least one more time during our stay).
Another nice thing about this place is the friendly owner/chef. Unlike the previous reviewer I found him to be very helpful and accomodating to these two non-French speaking Americans. He cooked all of our food fresh to order and we got to chat a little about his lifes travels. All in all it was a great experience and I hope others will look past their skepticism as I did to discover this little gem! -

Québec, QC
Meh, I don't think I'll be back. The food was just average and I found it a tad expensive for what it was. I don't remember the exact price, but it was more than $11 for a chicken quesadilla with a less than generous portion of tortilla chips on the side. Granted, the chips and homemade salsa were good, but there was just too little of them. The quesadilla itself was big with a lot of melted cheese, chicken and vegetables, but bland nonetheless.
Another reason why I won't be back is the owner who was trying way too hard to be friendly. His behaviour came out as theatrical and fake which made my friend and me a bit uncomfortable.
My quest for great Mexican food in Quebec City continues...
